Hey Could you help? I love to backspin with the echo effect. Is that bad?
Lessons:
1) Don't overuse the filter (Don't use the filter past the 2 O'clock mark)
2) Don't overuse the effects (It's ok if the song is constantly flowing)
3) Use loops on track A and B
4) Be aware of your audience (play what they like at that moment)
5) Don't leave empty spots = don't cut the frequency for both the tracks at the same time while introducing a new track
Best lesson: Your sudience dont care about transitions or effects or anything else. It's all about music. It either sounds good (they vibe with it) or they don't, period
Great tips, I have learned so much from you Phil Harris, keep on providing those great tips
I never cut mids, if mids of tracks I’m trying to mix are clashing, I just find another track with mids going good on top of the previous track. I like house music and I like long mixes, because I love to hear both tracks playing in harmony with each other before I completely mix out the previous song. So when I’m mixing I only use highs and lows...
OMG the pressing buttons and turning knobs constantly. So true. LOL. Just dance instead of overusing effects or feeling like you need to twist knobs!
These videos are incredibly helpful! Thank you!!
These videos are priceless! This is such valuable knowledge explained from experience. You explain things so well and make things that seem complicated pretty logical.
I’m always learning from you, well done 👍
I love this guy!!! He is always on point!!!!
thanks for the lesson Phil great job keep it up
Great video! Always learning 😁👍
The 'first x minutes' video was helpful like no other one Ive seen. Your others are generally good too. With the added graphics highlighting what youre doing, youve just turned a great learners channel into THE learners channel. Congratulations mate!
That`s so true. Thanks mate for great video
Very helpful. Thank you!
Great vid, thank!
Good tips. Cheers, Phil.
I feel way more confident after watching this. Thank you Phil!
Amazing video! Thank you! I learned a lot of djing knowledge from you and Im watching it in China, definitely wanna see more, please keep going
really useful video, thanks for the help 👍🏼
Wwooo good job phil
Amazing videos, very informative and explained really well. Thanks Phil
Loved the over use of visual effects whilst you mixed lol.
Love the video
I will definitely check out your website. Thanks!
Nice tutorial 🔥
Thanks Phil on point as always 👌
As always Phil, clear, concise, common sense advice👍
sure, he is smart and his education are easy to understand
Some good tips. Thanks.
Great Job.. Phil, I really would like to hear your live performance on UA-cam in these depressing days.
Really nice tips my friend, 🇧🇷DjBoyBrazil🇧🇷, since 1988 and learning again new skills...thanks.
Great stuff Phil. Really enjoying watching your videos. For me point 4 is the most important. A major part of the dj artistry is reading that crowd. I know a few brilliant technical djs who never miss a beat match but are so dull to listen to.
True, but it's even more common for DJ's that aren't technically skilled to say "it's all about reading the crowd" when in most cases they aren't good at that big either.
Great Advice Man, just mixing and let the music flows, without freak pushing buttons all the way until next song...
Great stuff. I'm guilty of some of these.
Very nice tutorial...
Good advices man! Thanks! And very nice video editing!!
PS. Nice songs, from where I can get this type of music? (in case you can say).
Thanks!
While you talking you should include your dj skills and the addition of the public to show what your talking is true to word part from that good video
The fix for 3 is gonna help me so much
How does this guy not have a million subs get this guy to a million subs
he explains complex things simple
👍good!
I use alot of flanger and phasers during my live sets on Facebook live to keep the shutdown away
cleverness, nice information
@@djsporting14 it doesn't always work but it helps. I only use it during vocal sections and I turn it to where you can hear it but not enough that it ruins the song
Good
Well said noted. Anyone who's been in a club knows what you are talking about.
Dj for the crowd not for other djs! You’ll get better with transitions, mixing, blending by time & practice!
Great stuff as usual phill, you mentioned something that reminds me of myself sometimes “ that we use filters and effects because we feel awkward” just you saying that makes me feel relaxed cause i thought it was only me 😂 anyways bless you and thanks for everything you have shared with us !
Hey Phil, I have a question, on which logiciel are you recording and on which logiciel are you editing ? It could help me a lot !
Hi Phil, can you possibly tell me what brand and model the camera boom is that you are using on your DLSR ?
Tip 2 gave me a SDVX flashback
I think regarding effects usage, they're more noticeable (and appreciated) during radio sets and "mixtapes". It's like you said; in clubs, it's barely noticeable (unless you go overboard. Then it IS noticed, and not in a good way).
you made great points
I mainly use effects for transitions. I seldom use them during playback of a track. As Phil mentioned, it is more of a distraction to the crowd if effects are overused during playback.
What are the names of the two songs that he used for his demonstrations?
DJ MILTON tee 😇🙌🙌
Dj Phil what brand of equipment do you have
Sometimes, the less the better.
Yes let the music play!!! The fx can sound to tacky.but you can do two or three good ones in a set if you really have to lol
if touching and playing with knob with no reason ,then wat dj juicy m is doing with her sets ????
The only reson I started to get into soundsystems and dj'ing is because i got sick of always being the dude in the audience that noticed when something was off.
What is the genre here 7:02??
I’m the 1% in the crowd who listens carefully to the mix and tries to piece together exactly what the DJ is doing
Yeah that’s called being another dj :)
