This vid is old... I bought the nice little 2.6oz echo oil that has stabilizer in it so it will last all summer... much easier. And I dumped the oil in the 1gal container at the gas station, then filled watching the pump till it was 1gal... that's the easiest way.

I'm trying to beat the rain, out of power blend echo oil. Question: can I use sTp 2-cycle oil, in my Echo 225 gas trimmer? I have an entire QT of the stuff but unsure.

One thing I might recommend on this. As I am a klutz, I tend to spill when mixing gasoline from one container to the other. As such, I might recommend doing so on concrete and not while kneeling on the grass. It's easier to clean up and minimizes inadvertently killing grass.

Wait so can't leave the mix in a gas can? And can't leave it in the unit? So just dump it out and waste it then?

I have the bigger container with the little container attached to it that you squeeze and it has 3.2oz on there for some unknown reason and thats too much and I cant figure out how to drain some out of there without just pouring it out.

Did I hear him correctly, that, when done working, we should dump out the remaining mixture back into a gas can if there is any left in the equipment?

Don't leave gas in your carburetor for a long time . 15 days max ! any doubt pour it out or run it till it runs out . I lost a lawn mower because the only time I would remember is when I laid down some nights and say to myself , I need to run the gas out of that John Deere .it had performed flawlessly on the last cut of the year . That was a good mower.

Well gas going into the carburetor won't hurt it much left gas in the carburetor can. But it absolutely positively eats the fuel lines up I probably have eight weed eaters and the only issues are the gas lines are dissolved or they are brittle

If this is Echo Canada then why 2.6 ounces per gallon? Our gallon is about 4.5 litres which would use about 3 ounces.

Question... If the gas oil mixture is wrong will the engine cut out? I ask because I grabbed the can that I believed had the mixed fuel in it. After filling the blower it won't stay running. It starts and cuts out when I touch the throttle. Last time I used it, probably a couple months before, it worked fine. Which has made me wonder about the fuel I put in it. Was going to drain it and mix a new cab of gas and oil and start over. Any thoughts? Can the wrong mixture case this issue?

It's kinda a trick question ,modern equipment yes but if you have vintage( most people don't realize echo was around long enough ago to be vintage..surprise😁) than it could be 32:1 or 40:1 depending on how old which would require a little more oil but realistically you probably are not talking about a 30 year old saw so I'm going to say yes to your question, whatever equipment you have just look on it or Google the model chances are it suggests 50:1 that's most 2cyl lawn equipment now days .....however I personally choose to mix about a 40:1 just adding a little bit more oil because all my 2cyl are saws and I beat the crap out of them daily

Thanks for the educational video on how to mix gas for your Echo equipment, but mixing gas/filling equipment 101 should have included this # 1 point > NEVER ever mix gas or fill equipment on anything but your trailer or HARD surface area, NEVER do anything with GAS on grass or green areas.

Don't store gas with ethanol , stabilizers or no stabilizers definitely don't leave it in your Echo products, lawn mower , Etc.

  • @lightningsmokerXx

For me i find less is better when getting 2 stroke gas. So i don't mix up a lot.
I just go get fresh when i need more.
    So for example.
I get a 5Litre Container, go to the gas station (usually shell as they contain no ethanol in there 91 octane gas)
and put 4.7-4.8Litres of gas in the 5Litre container.
Then I take that exact little Echo bottle that i buy at Home Depot.
and put it in the gas container containing my fresh 91 octane gas.
Put the lid on and shake it up , then poor in my wheed eater , chainsaw etc.
I put 4.7-4.8L of gas instead of 5.0L because in the event that the Fuel station is off by a bit ...id rather have a little extra oil and run the risk of fouling a plug than running the engine just a little shy on oil.
That basically gives me a 50:1 ratio.

@@lebu5825 You can also buy pre-mixed gas in a can that has no ethanol and is already stabilized. , but make sure its 40:1 , 50:1 or whatever ratio it is that you need....not just straight gas. The Real Key to being toruble free with 2 strokes is ....using the ethanol free gas (Here is a link to all the stations for the most part in usa & canada that carry ethanol free....usually shell is ethanol free on their 91 in canada -

My staff and I been using cheap 5W-30 or 5W-40 on week wackers for decades without any trouble. Much cheaper than this oil.
Jason should have tell us how oil put into the Echo's rather than into gas container.

Antione Hearon, 5W-30 (is thinner than -40) on our 4 cycle during the summer & -40 in the winter. Use it right away or shake it up to mix the oil with gas.
Leaded gas in better than corn gas where I am at. Because the lead is really a lubrication when heating or being used.
If it smoke a lot, means you got too much oil.
      Like in a car:
      1. black smoke out of tailpipe means oil
      2. while smoke out means coolant

If you are short on money and got some stuck bolts/nuts, use used cooking oil, transmission fluid 9(new or used), soy wax (heated) to loose them.
Rusted parts, uses lime or lemon juice.
Put bolts, nuts, washers in water bottle or container, pour juice into & close cap or lid. Check back tomorrow.
