    Speaking of data, I wish Metro (the COUNTY Sherrif) would make more information available around not just just the number homicides but crime in general. It’s important to know that the majority of these homicides/murders are drug or domestic violence related. There is also some gang killings mixed in there as well. This doesn’t mean that EVERYONE shouldn’t always practice good situational awareness whenever they are out in public.

    If these locations are based where they dead bodies are found, I’m almost positive the ones on the outskirts of town were moved there after being murdered. Either way, grew up here basically my whole life and it’s easy to distinguish the good neighborhoods from the bad. Be safe out there

    Hi Jacob. I recalled almost 7months ago I was homeless and stuck in Vegas. In fact, I hanged out at Foremaster and North Las Vegas Blvd. In that time, I sought shelter at Catholic Charities and later on at the Salvation Army on Owens Avenue. Ultimately, I was able to go back home to L.A. I wish and pray that our country would address this crisis for good. Unfortunately, homeless is a business.

    Liking and posting for the Al Gore Rhythm! Staying for the great, intelligent commentary!
    Thanks Jacob! As always, great info. Before we moved to Henderson, I researched the same websites for ALL criminal activity as well as websites for the flood plane areas, "super fund" clean up sites for toxic dumping by past industries, airport runways and train track locations for noise. Getting a great price on a house goes out the window if you can't sleep because your next to railroad tracks or in a flight path. Noxious fumes, "glowing" neighbors and swimming out to your car after a heavy rain aren't much fun either.
    No people, don't assume all of Henderson is good just because I mentioned that that is where I moved to, because just like North Las Vegas, Summerlin and other areas, there are really great spots and really bad ones. Also Henderson covers A LOT of area. I recommend that everyone do their OWN homework before settling in on any area or a "great deal".

    The tourists never get to see what regular Las Vegas is. They only see the glitz and glamor. They don't see how us regular people live in Las Vegas. Or all the areas around the glitz and glamor

    I was there. Owens, Main Street, Las Vegas Boulevard. Catholic Charities for 1 year. From September 2016 to September 2017. It wasn't that bad. Basically all I did was watch TV in the Catholic Charities Day Shelter and at Salvation Army up the street too. Catholic Charities got rid of it. Stay in a bunk bed. As many nights as you want. No time limit. Walk around outside to the free meals. Library was real close. They moved it further away. Now they got all this homeless construction/expansion on Foremaster street. They also had a good breakfast for those with food stamps. People even sometimes lined up for Chinese food outside Salvation Army. Given by people in cars not by the shelter. I had a daily routine. After watching TV, I'd trek to the library, then to the salvation army lunch, back to the library, to use Wifi, then to Rescue Mission dinner, then to Catholic Charities bunk beds. I'd also walk to Freemont street to help pass the time. Trek around. Buy an energy drink with food stamps. But hang around in the same spot on the sidewalk with the pop Tents. I never did that.

      Hey Pigeon Picker. Thank you for sharing your first hand experience. It's much appreciated. If you're willing to share some more details, would you mind sending me an email at jacobsvegassponsors@gmail.com to reach me? I'm working on another video on the subject, and could use a little more insight. Thank you

    Hey Jacob...thanks for the knowledge...I wandered over to Jerry’s Nugget on my last trip...with my hubby, thank god!....cuz I had a Freeplay coupon and I’d never been there and we had a car and blah blah blah. Well. I was underwhelmed and the area is indeed trying hard but still sketchy...certainly not a place to take the CATs bus to, as I usually might because I think I’m a tough old broad. Tough...eh...but certainly not stupid. Once over there with an escort was enuff for me, I also once walked over to Neon Museum by myself from Downtown during the day...wasn’t bothered by anyone but it probably wasn’t the smartest move, either......lesson learned!

    Boulder City has almost no violent crimes but they are a "sundown town" and do not allow people of color to purchase homes. Even when the dam was under construction no non- white workers could reside, eat or transit due to the color of their skin. The white rode buses completely separate from the non-white workers and under no circumstances could a white bus be used to transport non-whites if the latter's transportation was broken down. When the dam was completed, all items used by the non-white workers, to include the transportation vehicles were destroyed to prevent racial cross contamination. Hell they even had a dog named "Ni***r" to whom they immortalized on a plaque in the center of the dam, despite it being offensive and insensitive to the local residing black population.

    Living anywhere near Boulder hwy should be avoided except maybe closer to henderson I lived across the street from Boulder Station and was coming home one day iwas told i wasnt allowed to enter because there was a meth lab situation this in the 2000s then my mom lived near Tropicana and Boulder hwy. I got robbed trying to buy food this was in 2015 only other place this happened was on rancho and Washington knocked a guy out into a bus stop enclosure for trying to rob me. Downtown is a whole other monster 😆

    The overwhelming majority of homicides are between people who know each other. But as you pointed out, this data can still be used as a proxy for other types of crime. Also worth knowing, Nevada is a CCW state so if you frequent these parts of town you can legally fight back.

  • @timokeefe2126
    @timokeefe2126 3 роки тому

    I think another important part of your data would be the time of day of the homicides. As I would always tell my son , “nothing good ever happens after midnight”. What do you think. And oh by the way , I live in Henderson 😃
