I searched for ulvestad variation in UA-cam after seeing the opening book... There was no videos.. nice thing you made one
Glad you found our video! Basically the coverage of the Ulvestad Variation is part of our opening series of the Italian Game. Stay tuned for more interesting variations of the Italian Game coming soon!
Excellent explanation and analysis .Thanks Alex
You're welcome! Glad to hear that you liked the explanations of the Ulvestad variation. Stay tuned for the upcoming variations of the Italian Game.
9:10 note that Qf3 and O-O will not get to the same position because after Qf3, black can play exd4. If white would have played O-O first, exd4 wouldn't have been possible because of d3 (discovered attack with the c1 bishop on the queen).
Just wanted to point that out for everyone watching. Thanks for a great video and an amazing channel!
Italian Game has many variation to study, now I'm worried with the Sicilian variations. But gotta still keep movin and keep learnin. Thank you IM Alex Astaneh and Chessfactor😁
Super excellent explanations! I was exposed to this variation via Grooten's Understanding Before Moving, but was not understanding until watching this video!! 😀
I was looking for this, really amazing that such a variation is analyzed in 2021
Thanx for your dedication. Very nice analysis just how you expect from a strong IM. KEEP THE GOOD WORK! 🏆
Thanks for the video! It's incredibly in depth and very helpful. I am starting to play the Ulvestad a lot because people never know the best move Bf1. I only sort of vaguely looked at the main line, but knowing all these variations is invaluable. Thanks :)))))
Thanks for your comment. Seems like that you're now well prepared 😉.
you are a KING
This playlist helps me a lot in dealing with Italian game. Currently I'm rated 900. I hope there's also a series for Sicilian game.
Nice vid... Can you make a video about King's Indian Attack?? 🙏🙏
yes that would be really cool!
We'll put that one on our list!
Dear Alex, thank you for your coverage of the Italian so far. The main reason why I don't play the two knights defence with black is the following: The most sound reply to Ng5 is the polerio defence, but unfortunately I don't understand black's compensation for the sacrificed pawn. I always have the feeling to play against a healthy extra pawn with a shattered queenside with no immediate attack and no problems for white to fninsh development. Will there be a video on the polerio? That would be great!
Thanks for your comment! Basically we will upload soon a video where we cover the Polerio Defense. Stay tuned!
@@Chessfactor Excellent! I'm looking forward to it.
Amazing video!, thanks for the great effort
Thanks for your nice comment! Keep following the series on the Italian Game and you will become a master playing that opening 😉.
Great teacher thx man!
I saw this variation in one of Seirawan’s books but not in this depth. There are some nice tricks.
Good stuff

Happy to hear that! Hope you enjoy the complete Italian Game video series.
Sir what will if after Qh3 Bc8 please tell me 😢
13:03 after Bg5+ what do we do in case of Be7? Trade bishops and go Be2 to cover f3?
Tx! Interesting
Nice vid
Thanks!
You are using chessbase.. or playchess right.. (whatever you would call it)..i cannot highlight squares like this in my pc or draw arrows... And my version is fully updated.
Edit: help me out.. thanks
For the 2D board we use the software ChessBase.
@@Chessfactor i too have installed chessbase and have been using it... But i cannot do these highlight things
Also beware of Be2 and if queen takes Bf3 is winning with a double attack.
