    Before & after a multiple level lumbar fusion I have been using red light & infra red light therapy at home. It has been remarkably helpful in reducing pain. It also helps my energy level. I do the dosing as per recommendations from Ari Whitten’s book that you mention here. I can feel the difference & it helps reduce the need for pain medications. I use a Hooga Pro300 panel, the most economical great half panel, recommended by Alex Fergus in hie UA-cam reviews of light therapy devices. I am so happy & stunned by the efficacy every day that I use it . Thank you for your medical perspectives; great info here!!!!

    22 years ago, while working for chiros, I first experienced the TDP far infrared lamps but not for pain. It was something used over the thymus area to support immune function and promote overall relaxation. I did a 20 minute session during my lunch break every day. I've never been without one ever since. Using one right now to help with a sinus issue. And we have 2 far infrared heating pads. They're especially useful during the long winters in Chicago.

    Your remark: "What are you 100 years old?" (7:08) got me to think of this. I thought you both might enjoy this. I visited my Sister in the nursing home yesterday and there was a woman in the hallway that I took notice of. She was in an old fashioned style wheel chair but, rather than turning the wheels with her arms to move the chair forward, she was using her feet and was practically "running", she moved so fast. Anyhow, later on, they put on a show and there were singers doing Christmas carols and this gal was right up in front of the stage listening to and enjoying the show. The clincher (which I found out at the concert)...she's 101 years old! She is SO active, both day and night, that the facility actually had to install a device on her chair that buzzes if she ventures out too far. heh. You go girl!

    I purchased this on your recommendation in December of 2021 and fortunately it arrived a couple days before a severe fall which required 20 X-rays of my spine. While I'm on it - it relieves the pain but with my severe problems it doesn't last that long once I'm off it, so bottom line - I'm off and on it all day. I just wished it was larger - I know they have a full size one and one of these days I'm going to call them and perhaps go for the full body size. Can't really figure out how to use those straps though. Overall, I recommend it.

    Three things:
    1) Wrapping the pad around a joint does not make the penetration twice as much (4.6 cm), it gets penetration from both sides, but still only to the regular depth.
    2. "When" does the unit start generating FIR emissions? Does it require the unit to "heat up" (reach a physically-sensed temperature), or does it start emitting FIR immediately, and the physical heating is a result/side effect of the emission?
    3. What are the emission wavelengths / bands?

    • @autonomyseeker6082
      @autonomyseeker6082 2 роки тому

      For you 1st question. It actually does penetrate 4.6inch becuase it has 3 pads and onr pad can penetrate around 2.3 inches, so if you wrap it around a joint you will have a pad on both sides so if you add them together its 4.6inchs

      @@autonomyseeker6082 Erm... No. It penetrates 2.3".
      Classical electro-magnetics fundamentals: field density can be calculated from a point source, a line (infinitely long of point sources on a line), and a surface. A field penetrating from one side, extending 2.3 inches in, does not penetrates 4.6 inches in because it's wrapped around. Let the radius R increase to 2x. The field penetration is still 2.3", from any surface.

      @@catherineshaw1122 The depth of penetration depends upon the wavelength, the body composition, and to some extent, the condition of the cells.
      The point being made was that it's not a doubling of depth, but the fact that wrapping the body part then gets penetration from all around. The depth of penetration is still dependent upon the factors mentioned.
      2.3" or any other number, is just a general way of visualizing the penetration, and not useful for much of any other purpose.

    Dear Most Famous PTs on the Internet, you've helped me before, so I took your advice and your discount (thank you!) and ordered the infrared platinum pad for myself for Christmas. Sugar consumption (added sugar, that is) results in stiffness in my lower back, hips, and knees, but hopefully this pad will help when my reduced-sugar resolve is weak and when I re-start my exercise program after the holidays. It's Christmas Day and I've made fudge, plus I had a cheese danish for breakfast and flavored-cream in my coffee. I'll suffer for that later! Everyone should try avoiding added-sugar for 30 days just to see the toll it takes on your brain and body functions. You'll be amazed!

      G.C. I stopped all sugars, EVEN the hidden ones, in all foods, as well as quit diary, grains, soy, one years ago as I had a very bad inflammatory condition(s) in my body. One year later, no evidence at all that there is anything active. My doctor has said that I have changed the entire composition of my body's ecology...for the better, as a result of this. I am now "normal" after 9 years of chronic illness as a result of these life choices. I feel so much better, high energy, stamina, focus...it's amazing. Please, do look into stopping the sugar. It is "deadly" to the system. Thank you for your honestly and candor.

      Sugar and dairy are not the problems. You have been conned. Sure added sugar is not optimal but there are bigger bogeymen around. Dairy is a fantastic source of fat soluble vitamins, not to mention cheap and easy protein. Don't post your herbalife story trash here.

    You wouldn’t want to comment on anti-aging benefits for facial skin would you? I’ve heard studies show that a combo of near infrared and LED can promote collagen growth etc... People seem to like LED alone but supposedly adding infrared is even better.

    Question please.... I understand that the main difference between 660nm and 850nm devices is the depth of IR penetration. If the 850nm devices penetrate deeper, wouldn't this 850nm wavelength ALSO be beneficial to the "shallower" skin surfaces? Seems that the use of the 850nm units would provide relief for BOTH surface and deeper problem areas, I.E. hip joints. In my thinking, would the 850nm LED's do both "jobs" or does both of the wavelengths affect the body differently, working in tandem Thanks for your opinions and recommendations....

    • @mast3r860
      @mast3r860 Рік тому +3

      660 is considered Red Light (Visible light), 850 is near inferred light (invisible light, our eyes can't see it). While yes you are correct some of the energy will benefit the shallower skin however most of the energy waves will go deeper . The 660 cannot penetrate as deep and will be more beneficial for the shallower skin.
