Yes. 660nm for effecting biological pathways involved in inflammation and energy production; 850nm infrared for heating deeper levels, thus increasing oxygen delivery to injury site.
Thank you for the info - its good to know that its possible to relieve the discomfort/pain without medication. Would infrared light be as beneficial as red light??
Infrared is a deep heating modality due to its wavelength. Red light has a wavelength that has different effects on tissues than IR; it seems to initiate cellular activities that promote cell metabolism and thus healing.
It is red light plus infrared. Red light has therapeutic effects on cells, according to many studies. Infrared is deep heating to improve blood circulation to tissues, and oxygen delivery.
Which is better, red light or infrared light? Can it also treat musle (low back pain)? Is there any known negative effect from long term usage? Is there a limit of how long we can safely use both daily?
For knee pain, use a LED wrap. pulsedemf.com/collections/red-light-therapy/products/72-led-portable-red-light-therapy-knee-and-elbow-wrap It combines red light with near infrared, which works well. It is very safe, too.

The site offers home therapy devices that I have thoroughly investigated for efficacy; the main types are red light and pulsed EMF. Shockwave devices for soft tissue dysfunction will be available soon; I am researching the best ones.
Yes because your lamp is infrared, which mainly provides radiant heat, and is at the higher red wavelengths, 700 - 850 nm. The red light torch emits frequencies in the visible red, 630 and 660 nm, and one of the diodes emits heat with the 850 nm LED, which does not appear as red because infrared is not visible. The 630 and 660 nm wavelengths are the ones that have photobiomodulation abilities; i.e. are able to change the cell's physiology. They are available on my site pulsedemf.com.
@@TheKeithlong I agree, I think the panels will work, but this torch has the ability to go deeper by pushing the tissues aside. Hi, thanks for the question. Infrared light and red light are both electromagnetic waves, with different characteristics in frequency and wavelength which determine their properties. IR is basically radiant heat, and is invisible to the human eye. Red light is visible, and doesn't generate heat. It has a higher frequency and shorter wavelength than IR and is known to have biological effects when it passes through human tissue. IR is mostly a deep heating modality, much like you would use a hotpack, but deeper penetrating. More info on red light can be found on my site, pulsedemf.com

And how long do you think it will take? I am right at 70, very healthy very active, used to play a lot of tennis but not so much now.
The red light torch is ideal for smaller joints and joints that are closer to the surface of the skin. The hip is too deep for red light therapy. You may however want to try pulsed EMF, as some models can reach the hip. It works differently from red light. pulsedemf.com
My first question is whether exposure of knee joints to powerful red light on daily basis affect the other parts of the body and second question is where is that red light instrument available?
Hi, red light gets absorbed by the cells exposed to it. So if you point it to the knee in those positions I showed in this video, cells in the bone, cartilage and tendons (there are very few cells in cartilage and tendons) will be positively affected. Inflammation occurs at blood vessel walls, so the cells that make up the tiny blood vessels will get exposed to the red light as well. You can get this device at PulsedEMF.com. DHL is available for some locations outside the U.S.

It's worth a try using red light; also infrared lamp. Sounds coming from knee could be harmless, or they can be a sign of instability perhaps from an old injury, or you have hypermobile ligaments (loose ligaments) in which case you should do knee strengthening exercises, to strengthen the quads and hamstrings which support the knee, to make up for the loss of support from the ligaments.
It turns off after about 5 minutes. Let the LED cool off for about 5 minutes and you can use it again,. Do 3-4x/day for 2-3 days in a row, ten minutes each time when the pain is recent/bad; then do as-needed.
