Clean out the threads in the barrel with a bottom tap that will give you a little more room for the screw and you can glass bed the base to the barrel easy !
I just mounted these sights a couple days ago and haven't had time to try them out yet. With the holidays coming I figure it will be awhile until I do. My gut is telling me I won't be sending anything past 170 yards. Maybe I'll be able to stretch it to 200, but I'm not optimistic.
@@MiddleOutdoorsmanAny update? I purchased the same set up but in the LR-X with Break and Variflame set up. Just waiting on the Williams Sight to arrive. Curious how you like the set up now that you have had it for a few months.
@@james_gammell Truthfully, I haven't touched it since I posted this video. I've been busy, and the areas I would normally sight in at, have been covered in snow and haven't been accessible by car. Road closures, snow pack, etc. I'm planning on sighting it in, in June, after the spring turkey hunts, and before elk scouting season in July/August. December, January, February, March, ... totally off season for me. Makes the wife happy. Have to start scouting for turkey soon. 3 weeks tell opening day I think.

Not a bad idea!
what a hokey setup. wish i watched this video before ordering.
Why can’t Williams make a front sight that fits precisely on that particular rifle model?
That would make life entirely too easy. Can't have that now can we?
What gritt sand paper did you use?
Honestly, I don't remember. Id start a fine paper and work your way up as needed. You don't have to get crazy, the sight housing is aluminum.
When purchasing did you select the “with target knobs” option? Great video thanks for your help.

will this micrometer sight work on the optima?
I'm curious how your set up does out to 300 Yards. Congrats on the elk.

Have you hunted with this sight yet?
Not yet, this fall if I get my tags.
