I sound like you.... "You got to be kidding me!" "What the Hell?", must be the grumpy old vet shirts we wear. Thank you for the video and insight and your service.

Thank you! Yeah I'm rockin' the grumpy a lot more these days. They say as you get older you lose your filter. That should be fun. 😆

Williams has a new size .019" fiber front sight out in red/green. You can also stack them with the metal insert sights to give you a "BDC" holdover instead of trying to dial with the rear in a hunting situation. Can also paint the crosshair drop white to stand out. Few questions: What primers where you using? Did you chrono the shots? Might want to switch over to Blackhorn and the hottest 209 primers (Fed 209A)

I think the 0.19 sight is the one I'm using in green. I think green will be fine for gray light, but in the afternoon sun, not so much. The BDC holdover reticle was something I looked into, but their sold out everywhere I looked, so 0.19 green it is. I did find a smaller diameter rear peep on midway, so we'll be giving that a go soon.
As for primer, I've been using CCI 209s. I've 800 of em, leftover from back in the day you could buy a brick of 1000. I don't have a chronograph, though at some point I should get one. Deviation might be my fault. I started with at least 12 carefully premeasured charges before I left the house. After I went through that, i just started dumping the powder straight from the flask, to the measure, to the barrel, so a grain or two might have been lost somewhere.

@@MiddleOutdoorsman Good on you for having 800 CCI's! They should do the trick. I just bought a blackhorn breech plug for my Accura LRX and found some blackhorn. Gonna try that with Hornad bore driver ELD-X to see if I can reach out to 200 for this Fall on elk. Looking forward to the next video update on your tests :)

@@blainek9344 yeah I gotta finish getting my zero before august. Finding primers these days can be slim in pickings. The irony is when I bought that brick of 209s, i didn’t want that many, but a brick is all they had. How now I wish I bought two of them.

Hang in there. Takes a little time to figure it all out. Start at a closer range to determine the best load. See what powder chage gives you the smallest group first. Adjusting the sights on a poorly grouping load won't be productive. You are on your way to dialing it in. Best of luck hunting this year.
