Indeed James...I was able to talk with some folks at Horizon a couple of years ago about this (folks directly involved in design) and they agreed. Even though HH didn't necessarily request any different programming on the 30A ESC installed in the Wildcat, apparently the manufacturer must have done something with the timing. Whatever the case, this Wildcat flies much better than the original! All the best!
Been flying R/C for years and have a pretty good stable by now. This was one of my first R/C planes and it is still my favorite to fly. It looks good and handles great. It's just plain fun.
I still have my first edition wildcat. Years ago I put a supo motor 1240kv and 4s goes 110mph😄 I love busting it out at the field and watching the guys jaws drop. But it looks slow after I put up my 8s 200mph Rare bear!!!👍👍
I've always liked the Wildcat, even the older one; for me, it's the PERFECT toss in your car and go to the field and fly plane. This newer one has a slightly upgraded ESC with a bit of difference in the timing which gives the plane about 15 more watts and pulls a couple more amps than the older one....which means a bit more vertical performance and speed. Couple that with the addition of AS3X which improves the model's stability, you'll see an overall increase in performance...it's actually noticeable when you fly it! I hope this explains it....Blue Skies my friend!
Hi Splendirc! I'd really rather not; I feel it's prudent and safe to start off with a high-wing trainer first, get proficient with it, then perhaps this Wildcat could be a good 2nd plane. You WOULD need someone to help hand-launch it for you though, until you got used to it. I hope this helps :)!
I got one coming,my2nd as3x plane(the other-umx p51) on the p51 they never said anything about make sure plane is level before you advance the throttle, almost lost that one on maiden , is this plane the same make sure its level ? thx glenn
I hear you KJ....it was a good call bringing the Wildcat back! I think if sales of this are good, they may look at bringing the Gunfighter back as well....at least we can always hope :)!!!
I no alot of these F4F Wildcats have sold hope they look at there sales and think hold on we have sold alot of wildcats let's bring back the p51. Its a nice looking plane for one and as from video look's like it fly's on rails and a nice size to not to big and not to small in the car off you go for a quick flight don't need a really big field either chuck it up fly go home👍
I just ordered one it will be here in two days. What battery do you recommend. I have a bunch of 2200s .will they be good or should I get a smaller one?
Hey Kenny, the 2200's will be fine, but I think they are a bit too heavy for maximum performance. I recommend the smaller 1300's to 1500's. BUT, you can always fly her on your stash of 2200's and go from there...Blue Skies!
Kenny, I also ordered this bird. I belong to an RC club and another member has it and told me how easy it was to fly. I have a number of 2,200 mah batteries off my quadcopters I was thinking of using.
Just Ordered Mine Today after watching this Great Video Demo! Since you,ve own these Planes for Awhile have you ever Tried the PKZ 1015 Parkzone 9x7.5 3 Blade Propeller on them? I know it increases the Change of a Ground Strike but their still very Flexible Props...
Hi James! I've tried the 9x7.5 3 blade propeller in the past, but always found them to be a bit brittle for my liking; it seems no matter how hard I tried, they always seem to break after a few landings. Your results may be different, but I find that really like the stock prop on this model. You're going to love it 👍😎!
@@JustwingitRC if you can program the engine brake to medium to Hard that should cut down on hard ground strikes with the 3 blade type! i just installed the 3 blade one with the 2200 mah battery and it seems to have considerable more Thrust and Climbs upward where as the twin blade prop just keeps it Hovering in place!
Now that the Butt Holes from Horizon Hobby Discontinued this Plane AGAIN??? i will have the buy the LX F4F Wildcat from Banana Hobby...Have you Flown the LX Version?
I have not flown the LX version James, but I've seen them fly many times at various RC fly-ins. My overall impression is that they are quite a bit heavier, and take a lot more "piloting" to fly than the PZ Wildcat. Clearly, this is expected as the LX Wildcat is a more heavier, but not really that much bigger model in the long run....read, higher wing loading. You could always keep your eyes peeled to RCGroups classifieds, or other venues....occasionally the PZ/E-flite Wildcats show up. Happy hunting my friend, and all the best to you!
@@JustwingitRC Thanks yeah i already purchased the Lx Wildcat and dont expect it to fly quite as nice as the PZ version cause of the weight differences...My old pz wildcat some guy kept bugging me over n over to sell it to him and since i had ten million flights on it i thought well if i sell it i Can Always Buy Another! Hahaha Jokes on me little did i think that they would be discontinues so quickly again...
Justwingit, I got my wildcat today, its still in the box, hope to maiden it soon, thnxs for show me this great bird , come by and check my channel, you might see another wildcat video soon
Did you have any CG issues? What did you set your rates at? And were you utilizing SAFE at all? Or does it handle easy enough without it? I see some folks are using SAFE on hand-launch only. What do you think? Great video, BTW.
Thanks Ace! No CG issues and I was flying at 30% expo all around. No SAFE. I think this plane handles wonderfully without SAFE, but I'm sure it flies wonderfully with it...even without SAFE, this will fly right out of your hands!
Justwingit i flew it today. Your reaction to to this plane is legit. I love it! I get 8 min on the 2200s. I have no 1500s to compare performance but I love this plane. Thanks I got it because of this video. By the way you and pilot Robert ( the crazy guy from Slovenia) are the best Chanel’s on you tube. Keep it up
WOW!!! Fantastic news Kenny 😁!!! I'm glad you like the Wildcat...knew you would! Thanks for the kind words...to be in the same league as Pilot Robert is truly an honor 😎!
My Guess is the ESC is programmed better for more power or you just have a more efficient running motor..
Indeed James...I was able to talk with some folks at Horizon a couple of years ago about this (folks directly involved in design) and they agreed. Great video!!! Do you fly in Barstow often?
Hey thanks Bo!!! I fly there quite a bit...at least when it's not windy! Blue skies my friend!
Awesome

How does it do in wind?

200 mph rare bear? where,s the video link to see that?
I have the older one and not so impressed with it. What's different

Still need to order mine from the local hobby shop... probs gonna get it after my spring break! Can’t wait for this beauty!
You're going to LOVE IT! I have no doubt...Blue Skies my friend!
Ok I finally got it, and after some trimming, it is AMAZING! I’ve been able to get it completely under control, second flight!
Isn't this a eflight plane now?
Nope...she's still being sold under the ParkZone brand ;)!
Justwingit Oh ok. Nice!
👍🏻!
Can you recommend this plane for beginners, sir?

Hello. I don't know if I missed it the video but what kind of battery do you have in this thing ?
Hi Mojo, I'm running a 3s1500mAh battery that fits PERFECTLY in the battery compartment and gives me some really decent run times! Hope this helps!
Justwingit Well I have many 2200 so I'm planning on using these. I hope it fits. How much time do you get out of yours?
A solid 7 minutes of mixed sport/scale flying....you should get an easy 10 out of 2200! Just be careful about C/G...;)!

Just make sure it's still and level while it initializes and gets the final beeps...you'll be fine! You'll love this little Cat 😎!
@@JustwingitRC thx. What an easy hand launch plane. I 2 don't use safe and it flies vn....thx again
👍😎!

I agree Awesome Bird it Howls when you come out of a dive LOVE IT..2200 or smaller battery 100% DR 40+ expo Freaking Awsome ..safe is pathetic.
Thanks Dean! Sounds like you have yours set-up very similar to mine 100% rates, 30% expo 👍😎
