to an extent the books should be treated as non-cannon or semi-cannon. lost of stuff that the books established has since been contradicted by later games. (halo: fall of reach) has it established that the UNSC never encountered Elites before the Battle of Reach (this has since been massively contradicted as major ground combat against Elites was fought on places as early as the battle of Harvest. Likewise Brutes were not encountered before Halo 2 according the source books yet its established that they were encountered in "Contact Harvest" Books should be used as a primary source for lore but should be over printed by the games. (such as how Halo: Reach) established that the UNSC Pillar of Autuamn took off from Reach, and did not take part in the battle. (in the original novel Halo: The Fall of Reach the Autumn is preparing for a special mission before the Covenant show up) We NEED some games to flesh out the earlier stages of the Human Covenant war: Its the only way we can fight the OLD covenant again with Grunts, Elites, Jackels, Skirmishers, Drones, Hunters, Brutes and Prophets. (and others potentially) a "Pre-Reach" trilogy would be great- particularly if it included for the first time since HALO 2 some missions for the Covenant and more backstory to the scheming plans that Truth, Mercy and Regret laid out. I would love to hear the backstory for why the Brutes and Prophets were working to supplant the Elites. That is not to say the books are worthless- i think the new prequel trilogy should follow the basic trajectory of Halo: Fall of Reach but when required it needs to be ignored so we can have more fun in the game.
Halo didn’t need to keep artificially extending chief’s story. I feel like Bungie were very aware that the only direction left to go with the franchise was with spinoffs and prequels like ODST & Reach. 343 should’ve done this instead of making Halo 4, back when Halo was still one of the biggest names in the FPS genre. Now it feels like hype for the franchise is so astronomically low that they have no choice but to keep wheeling out Chief because that’s all Halo is known for due to 343’s refusal to expand the roster of protagonists when they had the chance
They actually have a couple in that roster I'd still be willing to buy a Halo game for: Fireteam Majestic (specifically Gabriel Thorne) and Jerome/Isabel(Aka Chief/Cortana 2). We haven't seen Thorne since Spartan Ops in Halo 4 or 2558 unfortunately, and I don't know how likely it is we'll see the Spirit of Fire again. My issue with 343 is they've been relying on books and comics too much. It's one thing to expand upon events with them, maybe fill in some gaps. it's another to have multiple major story plots happen in them, making the next game feel disconnected. Halo 1-3 all happen within the same year. CE and 2 are relatively close to each other, and then 3 is a direct continuation of 2. Halo 4-Infinite: 3 years pass, multiple side/major characters die outside the games, and the biggest sin: Chief and Arbiter's reunion happen outside the games. They need to tell a more condensed story.
@@Lashmer 343 treats their side characters like anthology stories. They show up for one game and are then never seen again aside from maybe a book or two
*If 343 wants to keep focusing on Spartans I want a Red Team or Blue Team spin off. Or hell even a Headhunters game where you end up fighting the Silent Shadow and Bloodstars.*
How many people are gonna care about them ? They utterly failed the introduction of Blue Team for the majority of players, they're as good as dead. As for Red Team, I think it's a good thing if they remain the spartans of the RTS games, otherwise it will be more homework for people to understand who they are, many don't play Halo Wars.
@@dearcastiel4667well redoing it, but having it done right would change a lot of people’s opinion on them. Now does 343 have that ability? Well they certainly have a ways to go before fans have that trust in them again
@@dearcastiel4667 have yet to find someone who doesnt know about Red Team and almost everyone I've encountered that plays Halo played at least 1 of HW titles

Yes! A smaller scale story would allows focus on characters, have them just talk to each other and get to form a bond with the people of a colony, put faces names and voices to the civilians that the UNSC are supposed to protect, maybe take time for the characters to take stock of the problems that plauge the galaxy and figure out solutions to stop the constant fighting.
@@RubyGalaxyYT honestly this is what Halo 4 or 5 should have been basically Spartan Ops as the main campaign either the Infiniti or that other ship that's of equal size travels the Galaxy and attacks Covenant remnants you can have some mission where half your team are Elites and the other half is Spartans. This way you actually have a chance of showing off the Spartan 4S they could also integrate the surviving Spartan 3s and twos. Have those two groups be more of senior roles trying to whip the force in the shape to slowly face those two groups out because they are doing the heavy lifting. This would also give them the ability to do that flood short story where the Spartan gets infected. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Perfect timing bro. I was waiting for a Halo vid to watch on my lunch break lol. Thanks for the videos through bro, you’re getting us though yet another content drought🫡
@@moneycat878d5 I actually watch those videos that explained it and can't remember because I thought it was so fucking stupid just leave it a goddamn mystery not everything needs to be explained especially how the flood came to be the game in lower loses a lot of its charm. Especially when the average fan has no fucking idea what half of this shit is
Because it's a shit-fucked hack-writing idea that Frank O'Connor came up with to retcon the actual/real story: that Forerunners were actually just ancient humans.
Maybe 343 will take the Gears route and focus on a Prequel game before returning to the modern narrative... might give them a chance to decide on who the main villain is supposed to be.
I'd love that, only issue is with Steve Downes. I mean he is very old and as hidden said probably retire if we have years of making and publishing a sequel or spinoffs they need to use him while we have him cos itll be a sad day when we wont hear him voice Chief again

23:18 You could consider Chips Dubbo to fill the role of SGT Johnson. Think about it, he's been through Chief in CE along with Johnson a lot all the way to Halo 3. Man's been out of Halo for a while now and I think it would be a perfect opportunity to bring him back as now SGT Dubbo.
Just remembered, what the hell has happened and where the hell has Dr Anders gone? At the end of HW2 she went with the halo ring and got stopped by a guardian and we've seen or heard nothing... I'm guessing she's dead since how does she survive what is years i believe on that ring by herself, She's not a hunter or farmer. Well Matt demon did it on Mars so she could too hahah. Seriously though, Where she at? I personally want Chief and the rest of the surviving Sll's to be in once place and fight a overwhelming threat as the UNSC or civilians fallback. Maybe be for Chief's final fight, John knows he will die in battle one day so seeing him gather his family together again and die to by them time and then take control of Jerome perhaps? Id say Fred but Jerome is much younger thanks to cryo and 343/Microsoft can use him way more.
@@xcfjdyrkdtulkgfilhu that’s true, also depends on if the ring had any other animals for the rings ecosystem onboard since the ring was freshly made I’m not sure when animals get added? Also depends on what plants grown on the ring, are they similar to Earth or would she have to trial and hope for the best with them as you said
Imagine if the reason the Endless are more dangerous than the flood is that as a precursor subpecie, they can controle the flood (or at least make a real alliance with them) and use them to assimilate all their opponents
Neural physics is how the primordial controls the flood right? The endless should be able to do the same thing and allow the floor to skip the feral stage and instantly reach the coordinated stage even without a gravemimd. They could act as commanders until a gravemimd can be created.
I just want the enemy to be a military force that isn’t beaten in one game installment. These weird powerful bosses are too sci-fi for me. Give me military sci-fi, please 🙏
To fill a Johnson role we could have Stacker or maybe the mythical Chips Dubbo? They’re funny, charismatic, known by fans, and generally liked. They were always sorta in the background before, but now they could be brought to the forefront as it would be natural too. There is more options if they want to finally merge the SoF, or at least some of the crew, into the mainline games as we all think it’s well overdue
@@HiddenXperia rough times, man. But one thing that manages to keep me going is seeing videos of yours. I’m a younger Halo fan, still a teen and I consider the franchise but also your channel a part of my identity. I grew up on your old flood videos and 343 art style ranting lmao
I would pay so much for a Halo game that is primarily focused on the aliens. I’d love a campaign following a squad from the Swords. The roster of different species would make it so much easier to make the cast stand out compared to another human story. 343 have the keys to the video game equivalent to Tolkien’s middle earth but they just keep writing about Hobbits
Here’s a better idea. Just like the Hunting Party story we play as a squad of Silent Shadow kinda like Republic Commando and we players hunt down Brute HVTs
I beg to have the spirit of fire and red team be in a mainline halo game. Just imagine how iconic it would be to have spirit of fire pull up with red team and help out chief in a moment of need.
The Prometheans Actually would have been a good chance for Horror cause they were like, techno-flood in an inverse reaction to them imprisoning minds into knights. WHICH was slept on for the most part and briefly touched on in spartan ops and that one short story they released recently that confirmed the one in the cell in Halo 5 is a composed Tilson. They missed an opportunity there and i think people are so angry about the knights being frustrating to fight with having too many abilities in one character type and being tanky to even give them a chance despite them being potentially really good. Hell the monitors are Horror in they are trapped minds like Chakas. even CE touches on this with guilty spark mistaking Chief for the one who fired the rings in the first place. There's a lot that can be done there. You can GET SOMA -ish if you want. It's not explored enough.
The prontheans should have had the same introduction as the flood did in combat evolved. They are supposed to be forerunner warriors, yet they can be beaten by non forerunner weapons. They should have been made so Chief couldn't fight them at first and had to avoid them until he got his armor upgraded by the librarian. Imagine if on the first encounter you see a group of hunters and zealots getting wrecked by a single knight who one shots all of them and Chief has to avoid it via camouflage. It could have been a great horror sequence if it was done properly.
Wouldn't be a bad thing. The actual bad habit was not outright removing the bad entries from the canon timeline entirely at the same time as they drop the plot threads, and instead just asking everyone to kinda sorta ignore them.
I think the Mantle plot should be a subplot. Great motivation for key moments in a story, but they shouldn’t overtake humanity surviving and thriving against all adversity.
@@Evjaaa Hell, that would even fill the Horror point that HX mentioned, as it could play out the entire Harvest confrontation, and the Covenant just starts taking *everything* just like in Reach...I can dig that.
@@MishraArtificer it would probably need more extra bits added because the book doesnt have that much combat opportunities but they could put some more in with more lore
I think bringing back SGT Stacker would be a great way to fill the Johnson role. He's been around just as long as Johnson, is equally witty and distinct (I think the southern accent does a lot) and as shown with Infinite, his actor is perfectly willing to come back from time to time (There was a flashback of Captain Keys from CE with rerecorded dialogue. Keyes and Stacker share the same VA). To be completely honest if they try to have you play as both Chief and another character I think Buck would fit that role perfectly.
I know that a lot of people haven't read the books and have just played the games, so I think it's safe to say that most people didn't understand the significance of Blue Team in H5. And then H5 was. . .what it was. But even besides all that, as a harcore fan, I was SO happy to see Chief reunited with his family. The interaction of Blue Team with each other, and between all S-II's in general is something that is iconic. They trust and care for each other like no one else, and to finally see them together in a game was beautiful. I just want more of that.
@@WhiteInk47 the only reason I say 3rd person is because the arbiter and elites by extension have a very feudal Japan aspect to them, and to me things like close quarters sword fights would be far more impressive
And at the same time was grounded to where it didn’t get so overly complicated as it is now to where you’d confuse the audience by bringing up shit from external sources that barely anyone but the niche hardcore fans knows about.
Watching that cut ending scene for Infinite where the pelican pings a new friendly contact i always imagined that was either the Spirit of Fire or The Arbiter and the Swords
343 SERIOUSLY needs to take its entire studio, sit them down and watch this video as a studio. Take notes and use this as a baseline. Not kidding. We need to go back to Halo's roots and this would be a great way to do it. What I find especially important is easing Jerome into the main plot. I wouldn't be opposed to a sort of squad-ish type of Halo game, where you play as Chief and you have Jerome and Arbiter in your squad. Kinda like Gears of war, but Halo, and FPS. You can then make people care about all 3 of them. I mean seriously, the only thing the current generation has seen of the Arbiter is Halo 5... Think about that for a second. Feel old?... Seriously though, bring both of them into the story and move back to a Flood-centric story. That's where Halo shined the brightest, with Chief, Arby and Cortana. The Weapon is a good new character who's already had an interesting plot. Her relationship with Chief is different but has the potential to be just as good, and with Arby back, and Jerome, finding a way to stop the Flood, with Lord Hood, Laskt, Cutter and Isabella as the big side characters would be fantastic Finally, I absolutely agree about Steve Downes. His voice is iconic, and if Steve retires, I really think they should wrap up Chief's story somehow. Whether it's tragedy, noble sacrifice or retirement is a topic for when that day actually happens, but when it does, people will atleast be used to Jerome. If Jerome does end up becoming the next in line after Chiet, it would be cool if we can actually notice that in the gameplay. Chief was the best of the best and correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember Red Team being one of the "least skilled" Spartan squads? That's a very notable difference between the two characters and it would be cool if that difference got transfered over into the gameplay as well. Pipe dream, of course. An even bigger pipe dream of mine, is that they simply make amother trilogy about the Flood, like what you suggested, and at the end of it, have Chief "heroically sacrifice" himself (that's coming back). I mean another war against the Flood SHOULD be the endgame of the modern Halo universe, right? "And they lived happily ever after" after that? If they do that, we could then explore, oh I don't know, the FORERUNNER ERA? Like, the Human-Flood-Forerunner war? Explore the Precursors more? Imagine Halo games set in that time period and playing as a Forerunner in these ridiculously over-the-top space battles. That would be so amazing to see. Now ideally that would be around 10 years down the line, so that each of this theoretical Flood trilogy game can come out within 3-ish years of one another, and then we get a trilogy or even saga about the Forerunners. By that time, tech should be at a point where a Forerunner trilogy could actually shine. Once that is finished, with the final Forerunner game showing a Reach-like cutscene of the Forerunners activating the rings and the universe progressing to the current Halo era. Showing brief snippets of the Bungie trilogy (in-engine from the game it's in at that time, of course) They could then have like an after credits cutscene showing Chief's face. The way I see it, Chief actually survived after he "heroically sacrificed himself in the theoretical upcoming Flood trilogy's final game. You just see a massive, but old, and battle-hardened man doinh ordane stuff. Maybe with a wife and kids. Just them working around the house or something, and then you hear the Halo music coming in when Chief, and his potential lady, go to sleep and the camera pans out, revealing Chief's helmet. There, that's 20-30 years worth of ideas and even a potential ending to Halo that I think would work really well. Obviously this is a massive, massive pipe dream that won't come true, but I just hope that atleast some of this stuff happens in some way
Damn, I'm thinking about that potential cutscene of the Forerunners firing the Halo's. Imagine hearing Heavy Price Paid as you see the waves hit different planets, with some dialogue of the Librarian, talking about the "heavy price" of this solution, but that not all is lost and that new life will begin. Then it fades to black, and you hear a muffled "Chief! Chief, can you hear me?!"? (Cortana talking to Chief), as to kind of signify Chief being the "new hope" (kinda like Luke Skywalker), and then the end credits roll in, with the Legendary ending being the one I mentioned in the OP. I could die happy if all this happened

NOBODY has an idea what the hell is going on with the current story. Everything's either been retconned to oblivion, told in some obscure book, or both.
Agreed, I didn't hate halo 4. The story was OK just the gameplay sucked. They need to keep the villain alive and keep cortana dead at the end. Pay a decent writer to make the story 10x better. The core concept wasn't terrible.
100%. I was incredibly confused when Halo 5 had no direct continuation from halo 4. Theres some familiar faces, but then suddenly there other Spartan IIs that miraculously survived (with no ingame explanation), no mention of the Didact , Chief is on the run for some reason. Then we get Infinite, and suddenly theres a completely unfamiliar 3rd alien faction, and the Infinity, its crew, and most of the familiar faces from Halo 5 are gone???? Theres no proper through line for game only fans. Its just a hot mess
Absolute facts. The only sensible option is a partial reboot (restarting off the end of Halo 3, that'd undo all of 343's damage to the franchise minus our time wasted) done by a new dev made of people who actually care about Halo. Microsoft could easily get this done if they really cared.
This is my opinion as well. Halo is in a similar situation to Star Wars, everything post-Disney acquisition needs to be purged and a proper story planned, written, _and followed._ TBH, I think the story should follow “our” Spartan the way Reach did. Don’t even kill off Chief or Cortana, let them rest and they can maybe be brought in later. Or have them exist in some kind of vague “afterlife” that they don’t have a desire to leave, giving them a happy ending. Also, ONI absolutely knew everything Halsey was doing. The sudden demonization of her character was weak and stupid. It’s not that what she did was right, but there’s no way that she’d suddenly be thrown under the bus when she’s still such a valuable asset. She should basically be the one spearheading the 4 program, using newly acquired and reverse-engineered Forerunner tech to make the process safer and still as effective as the 2’s augmentations, even on adults. Though, the one caveat to that is that they’d have to drop the extra growth I think. It really doesn’t make sense for fully grown adults to suddenly gain an extra foot or two in height. Personally, I’m fine with the UNSC’s ships becoming equal or superior to the former Covenant’s ships. And they don’t need to keep blowing up every game. EDIT: I’d also like to see a closer Elite-UNSC Alliance. In fact, it’d make sense for the UNSC to absorb some of the old Covenant races. The Grunts in particular would seem good candidates to join the alliance. They could even comment in-game about how much nicer the Humans are than the Brutes.
Halo to me is at it's most interesting when it's not about the stakes really. It's at its best when there are grandiose implications of like how the "gods" are just an ancient alien race, or that the entire covenant is a deathcult that misinterpreted what the forerunners are due to their reverence. Then throwing the consequences of this into a story and having to deal with from a very grounded position. I don't NEED the galaxy to be threatened with extinction 24/7 at any moment if we don't fix it RIGHT NOW, but a Looming threat is good! Like the covenant MIGHT have wiped out all humanity by force, but then the halos come into play so then the Halos MIGHT wipe out life, then the flood MIGHT etc, but while I think halo works well when things are pushed to a brink, It's not the Primary reason I like it alone, It's *why* is it being pushed to the brink that I like. If you get me some existential horror where the answer is just legit "actually hinduism is real but it's aliens and not what you think it is actually. vishnu is actually a mech powered by jellyfish" then I'm like OH. I like that Plus the combination of having to deal with it from various perspectives, usually just a human one, sometimes an internal one like the arbiter.
One way the prophets could return is to have a cult of them who believe that the flood are the gods of the universe / true inheritants. That could be also used as a horror aspect as they would force people to become infected similar to how it spread in ancient humanity.
In halo infinite they really missed the opportunity to use jega rdomnai for horror aside from his fight(kinda), imagine him or other silent shadow stalking us in the open world, seeing that red glowing stuff randomly not sure where the elite is
As a Reach kid, I think 343 needs to solve the whole "Pacifist AI Uprising" mess they created in 5 and I also believe they need to finish the entire master chief is the center of the Halo universe storyline.
I got most of my Halo knowledge from this channel, including theories that you come up with or expose from the community. I actually only read Kelly Gay's books, but I like to consider me well versed in Halo. 😊
I want more than anything, a flood return in a sewer tunnel system. Idk why but wading through knees high water and looking down a tube just to see the disfigured flood would be so cool and creepy
If they're gonna do anything, they gotta finish off a lot of stuff. Hell, give us an Infinity War/Endgame story where EVERYTHING comes together, all the characters we've seen, villains, all of it. Make it the final test for The Mantle we've always wanted to see. Flood/Precursor/Endless versus Humans/Elites/ (The Banished, post-alliance?), Understandably the Mantle was never a lot of people's favorite thing (myself included) because 343 handled/handles it so poorly that I think they explained what it is maybe once in the games as just a meaningless plot device. They actually need to move heavily into it because it's literally the reason everything happens in the Halo universe Bungie already did so with their game that came out years after Halo 1, It's about time Halo got its shit together.
@@Lipidwave this isnt really a multiverse thing tho. the fight could lead whats left of the infinity to the ark. desperate they find the spirit of fire which has been gearing up for a big fight for a while now, while securing a large area of the ark. the infinity crew make it there, having red team, chief and SoS all joining together. The endless carry on their quest casting the banished aside and this puts the banished back into that gray area experia mentions. Making everyone not allies, but potential partners to at least stop the banished. wrap that story up and end it at least somewhere the fans would be happy
I continue to hope that some day, Halo evolves (pun intended) into more video games genres. - ODST tactical shooter - XCOM-like Halo game - Flood horror game - Adventure-driven RPG game in a post-war galaxy with kig-yar smugglers, sword of sanghelios and UNSC patrols, banished raiders... - ONI infiltration-espionnage game The list of possibilities is long. Just expand this amazing franchise to new horizons, Microsoft, you have plenty of studios that would make choices that 343i have proven too scared to make.
I get what you mean with having Buck for Johnson's role, but for me it's less about the snappy lines and more about the motivation. Not to say Buck isn't good for it, I'd just prefer someone else. Johnson had some banger lines, let's be real, but he's also a motivating force like a bard. When I think of the role Johnson fits I think of the cutscene at the beginning of Metropolis, panicked marine in a bad situation wants to bail but the Sarge sets him on the path. No Palmer-esque "man up" remark, just "You're not injured? Cool, because you're gonna go kick some arse, have a tank." It doesn't matter how bad the situation is, when the Sergeant speaks you feel ready for whatever. For me personally, I feel the only two people in the franchise who could order me into marching into hell without me complaining would be Johnson and, though he lacks a certain levity, Rtas 'Vadum. (maybe H2 Miranda and Carter too but, you know)
I ADORE the idea of Buck taking up the Johnson mantle. I'd love to see him and Chief work together and grow a relationship built on their shared experiences during the Human-Covenant war.
I know it’s a massive step, but I almost wish they’d make everything after halo 4 non canon. Then you could do the didact, the banished, and Buck they way they should have been done
Mr.Xperia, I've been a fan for years, and your channel is my go-to for videos to listen to while I work. I just want you and/or Installation00 to write the next game. Your theories and ideas are better than most of what we've gotten from Halo's campaigns over the last decade. As much as I love, and want to believe your Xalanyn - Precursor Subspecies Theory, I'm pretty sure whoever's writing the story behind the scenes is making it up as they go.
something I'd definitely love to see is your custom spartan back in the campaign but not something like reach. instead something how arbiter from halo 2 acted where for the first third or half of the game youre chief as normal but as you go through a banished stronghold or something you'd see dead bodies and hear gunfire down the hallway with the weapon talking to you about picking up a UNSC friendly becon and as you make your way further into the stronghold you'd find more bodies and higher rank soliders before eventually you go into a large main central type of room and you see your spartan standing over a brute cheiftan and he recognizes chief with the POV switching to your Spartans after the cutscene letting you fight along side chief. dunno how realistic it is but it sounds amazing
I’m pretty sure weaving Jun back into the story would be a nice fill for Johnson. He’s an established character, tried, tested and respected. The Spartan 4’s would all know him as well as a mentor and grizzled veteran. He’s also shown to crack the occasional sarcastic joke every now and then too.
at this point id love if all of 343 lore just got wiped off the face of the earth and we get a better sequel to halo 3. plays, sounds, looks, and is written like an actual sequel that pre reach bungie would have made. Its incredibly jarring to go from being allies with all the elites during halo 3 to them suddenly being your enemies again and it being written off with a throwaway line. it would have been much more compelling to have halo 4 start out as the arbiters story and showing the elites destroying remnants of the covenant and potentially turning against one another so that by the time that chief is reintroduced to the story it feels natural that your fighting against elites again. The brutes, drones, and engineers should not have been shafted. chief and Cortana's characterization should be consistent with the original 3, and the story should not revolve around contrivance and retcons like halo 4s actual story does. also none of that promethean bs lmao
Honestly it’s very easy to have a good premise in a post Halo 3 era if that premise revolves around the idea of one side wanting peace and unity between humanity and covenant, and the other two radicalized sides being the Banished who wish to destroy both humanity and their once brothers in arms who they view as having betrayed their race by wishing to have harmony/allegiance with the humans that killed so many of them in the war, and the other being The Banished but for Humans who want the same thing that The Banished does but for humanity, all three factions having large armies behind them and from that war breaks out again which leads to Chief getting revived and back into the fight.
For me i feel like SGT Marcus Stacker would be a good replacement for Sgt Johnson cause he's been here since day one like SGT Johnson and he fought alongside him and it would ne a good chance to explore his character more and he has the wit and charm like johnson but that's my two cents.
@ebonkinght he's perfect for the late 80's "military supervisor" humor. Think Major Payne or R Lee Ermey. Politically incorrect and somewhat dark, but serious when necessary. Tired of the "Marvel humor" that Halo Infinite was inundated with.
It’s crazy how much you remind me of Mr.roflwaffles and vice versa, you both have similar mannerisms and the same amount of incredible passion when talking about the lore whether it’s halo lore or cod zombies lore I love it
Oh my god, Luke you read my mind. With each question you posed, I thought "This" and then you said "This!" And then I was like "Yes! This!" I got chills when you said Buck, the whole time you were building it up I was just saying it in my head over and over, "It's Buck, it's gotta be Buck." Nathan Fillion has the charisma and soldiers would be more than happy to be lead by a Spartan. And his personality is distinct enough from Johnson's, that it won't feel like it's just Johnson again.
The reason why the Endless are more dangerous than the Flood is because they are LITERAL non-corrupted Reincarnated Precursors. There are so many hints and references to the Forerunner Saga in Halo Infinite im surprised nobody realized this. It’s obvious. The flood are always awesome but they were basically an accident, zombies born of dead Precursors rotting flesh. The Endless is them again. Harbinger says “We are Returning.”
More Buck? Yes sir!! I dont think buck being a Spartan is a big deal. I mean Johnson was a Spartan without armour so all we have to do with Buck is take his, Maybe chief could find him and rescue him similar to Spartan Griffin but Buck would live however his armour is long gone or destroyed. So he will be stronger then Johnson for sure but basically in the same boat. He will be able to keep up with Chief and maybe Buck will choose to refuse his armour once he gets it back, he did say in H5 he misses being an ODST and it wont be the first time a Spartan turns down the armour. Kurt did it by refusing his Mjolnir and equipping the SPI armour.
Hear me out, the main conflict driver from Halo 1-3 was the Covenant. I'm not saying 343i copy/paste the Covenant back, but they have the PERFECT setup to do it again with the Banished & Endless. The world of Halo revolves around living in the world the Forerunners left behind. With the new Endless species, we question the Forerunners and Halo's all over again. There is a chance for a massive conflict of belief's AGAIN with humanity vs the banished and endless.
4:38 let’s do a god of war style game with Chief and arbiter but don’t do it cheap like infinite with the cutscenes being almost the exact same. Make it actually flow and look as we are where we are like in classic cutscenes from halo 3 and such. I do hope 343 and Microsoft don’t screw this last chance up
I hope they make a spin off series that returns to that “Fight for Humanity’s Survival” feeling from the old games That whole feeling went away when the Covenant did 😢
Something I would love to see is The Spirit of Fire finding a way to get back to the galaxy, where the crew arrives at Zeta Halo, where we see Jerome and the Chief fight together against the Banished.
I've dropped out of Halo since Halo 4 but I just wanted to say because I don't think its said enough - your video editing is literally perfect. It helps to keep me updated with the Halo series. I agree with EVERYTHING you say and I truly believe the devs will do well with Halo if they just took your advice.
What we NEED for the game taking place after Halo Infinite: -343 Fired -Actual fans HIRED -A focus on the ODSTs -Make the gameplay more like Doom and the Setting more like Warhammer40K!! -The Forerunners restored to being HUMANS! -The FLOOD RETURNING -The Created GONE for GOOD! -The Endless RETCONNED OUT -The Covenant to come back! WHOS WITH ME?! 🙏✊🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
That’s a lot of retconning and will make things murky/messy. It did with H5 when they retconned things. Besides the retconning, canon changes, and trying to bring the Covenant back again, I agree. Why do I not want the Covenant back? It makes their final defeat in H3 feel cheap and less satisfying
@@jakespacepiratee3740eh, not really. Not that the Covenant isn’t good, but it kinda shows you dont know enough about the Banished to say they are “just Covenant but with red lol”
What I would love to see pre spartan era with the insurrectionist battles as an ODST. I'm currently rereading the Kilo Five series and them boarding the covenant ships, killing the brutes, and jackals and "stealing" the engineer before putting it on auto pilot and going back to Sanghelios. Or the "spoiler" who is trying to obtain a covenant ship to get back at the UNSC for stealing their "spoiler" IYKYK
Tbh, the moment you mentioned Johnson-type... My mind immediately screamed Buck. I just knew he'd fit that role so well. I think that would shine even more if he returned with a half-broken set of spartan armor. Just imagine he'd replace the broken bits with parts of his old ODST set. That'd go so hard ^^ Though I'm unsure how the rest of his team alpha-nine would fit into that story then.
I also really loved the halo 2 swapping between characters/factions to follow. Perfect & beautiful execution & a powerful book feel. Really hope they give that kind of format a try again. I think it’ll be very engaging & refreshing
I’ve been writing my own script for what I’d do with halo 7. I think I figured out a good way to incorporate the endless. Basically the endless were the first life forms created by the precursors made from their own blood. The endless are “life grafters” who can alter the physiology of life forms, something that they used to create the first ancient humans from the forruners. The life grafting process plays a major role in the story. For one thing it is the explanation for the skimmers. The skimmers were an early creation of the xalinann made from their own kind. Also side note they can turn ais into underdeveloped humans. The endless leader revives Cortana and turns her into an underdeveloped human at one point. The flood tires to infect her but Chief literally sets her on fire to keep her from getting infected then throws her into a forruner+endless Machine that ends up harvesting Doctor Halsey in order to fully develop and repair Cortana’s human body. But yeah that’s a separate storyline that takes too much time to explain. Anyway the reason the precursors wanted to give the mantle to the humans was because the endless said they wanted to prove they could make a species better than the forruners. This was actually a rouse as the humans were actually designed to be inferior so they would fail and the mantle would be passed to the endless. But that plan went up in smoke. Now the endless seek to revive the precursors through the flood but don’t realize how fargone the Gravemind is. This ultimately leads to the endless being consumed by the flood.
I do like the character story about Chief's humanity, like what scars are under all of that armor? But what I really want is for our custom Spartans to get their own campaign, like in Spartan ops but better.
Imagine: You play as a marine regular somewhere in the middle of the UNSC -Covenant war. Over the coarse of a few days, the colony world that you are deployed to is overrun and your 12 man squad of marines is cut down again and again, until its just three or four of you left. Days after the UNSC has seemingly abandoned you, you are ambushed by the silent shadow and witness the viscous executions by elite swordsmen. As you and your last brother or sister are about to be executed, a sniper shot from an SRS-99 cracks through the burnt landscape, dropping the First Blade in charge of the ambush, causing him to drop your last comrade. The bloodstar that was about to slice you up, takes cover and begins to aim his plasma rifle at you as he is tackled by a spartan 2 in pale blue MJOLNIR. Two more bloodstars begin to react but one is sniped and another is stabbed bt a spartan 2 with a bubble faceplate. Another spartan in OD green MJOLNIR is engaged in hand to hand with two brutes in red armor, killing one, but gets caught in a choke hold by the other. Your character reaches for a fallen plasma pistol and hits the brute with an overcharged plasma bolt, followed by a headshot from the spartan in pale blue. The Spartan in OD green armor, sporting the designation 117, thanks you and calls in a prowler for exfil.
Ive always found cloaked elites with swords to be actually terrifying. I think a dark, slow paced level with largely invisible enemies that jump scare you is on par with the flood. The Fall of Reach live action movie did this really well. I want that sort of hopeless terror in a game.
Talking about Red Team (5:50), but don't forget Veta Lopis and her two remaining Ferrets, who joined Cutter and his crew during the second Ark conflict, and possible working together with Red Team. That can be quite interesting for a story line. Or, staying on Zeta Halo: How it goes with Spartan Horvath, during his travels on Zeta Halo
A halo story where we go back to Reach with the Arbiter and fully explore the massive Forerunner artifact that the Covenant were searching for in the first place would be so interesting. It would also serve as an excellent callback to OG Reach, and give credit to all the characters that died fighting to make sure that Humanity could go on in Combat Evolved and so on.
What would be great, besides 343 or any devs returning to the essence of the Halo ecosystem, i think we could get something interesting narratively with this setup : - We have a part of the campaign on the side of the Arbiter, finishing his task and leading to Zeta Halo to rescue Chief and Infinity crew, they manage to go back to Reach. - There they search for the portal to the Ark ( we can have a whole selections of missions on Reach, feel free to put your ideas ) - They arrive to the Ark, and discover that the Spirit of Fire crew where fighting here for a while, join them against the Banished and then... Flood outbreak !
The horror aspect is definitely something they've slept on but I don't think an extended cast would help if they went down that route. One of the main reasons the horror worked in CE so well was because of how lonely it felt to be Chief. Him being cut off from the UNSC and Cortana, paired with the whimsically unstable Monitor, was a great decision for The Library. The repetitive design of hallways and doors, those moments where you have to fend the flood off by yourself when Spark buggers off, how endless it feels making your way to the index, is what makes the horror work so well. It's a mentally draining slog, which is probably what made Spark "lose his mind".
Honestly, the universe of Halo is so vast, they didn't even have to make games to continue from the main storyline. They could've focused on different stories of heros that contributed to winning Covenant war or just struggles that was happening across the galaxy. Halo Wars series was a very good example. A game focusing on Gray Team or Black team would be interesting imo
BRO, you honestly just gave 343 and MS a 10 out of 10 guide to follow or even refer to on what to do for future Halo games. Amazing work as usual. Now let’s pray they Actually come through with any of it. Even if they did 25% I’d be happy…
It would be cool to have a story that focuses on a member of the enemy faction similar to H2. However, maybe with more instances of direction consequences. For example, if you’re playing as the chief and you destroy a banished base, you then take over as the other character from inside the destroyed base and see things from the banished perspective to the retaliate and launch a mission against the humans. Etc.
I think what I miss is the war side to the halo game, reach was incredible at displaying this. Flying over new Alexandria sitting in the pelican you can see how much noble 6 is getting affected
Buck is probably the best option to fill that humorous lead role. He has that commanding but slightly comical southern draw, his voice actor is a great actor already and has a lot of potential. I think Buck is the best bet moving ahead to be a comical leader in the series. Not the main guy but like Sgt Johnson was.
If they returned to Reach, you know which character would be able to fill in the Johnson role? Jorge. Technically, there's no confirmation that he's dead, as slip space ruptures don't necesarily mean death as much as it does teleportation. If Chief survived, why wouldn't Jorge? Finding a way to bring him back into the story while also having Chief and Red team going back to Reach would be awesome, and Jorge being exposed to the flood would be a pretty cool yet horrifying experience.
I agree with your last point about having a new classic sergeant archetype but here’s a wild card odst Malcom geffen: witty, charismatic, and he’s been there and seen it all.
I love the fact u and many other halo UA-camrs give ideas for one of the best game yet 343 won’t listen and carry on bringing this franchise to the ground.
For real though, I think it would actually be a genius move to bring him back and reveal that he survived Reach. I’d also think that it be even more genius if they have him be leading a human like banished army of humans that are against the UNSC & Covenant truce/alliance agreement that has the two species trade and live among each other as a united nation of sorts.
@@NhBleker I see him more as just protecting the remaining survivors on reach and they haven’t received word of the end of the war. Chief, arby, and Rtas go to reach to find the portal to the ark, finish off the banished stationed on the ring where noble six overhears them talking about when they were enemies and the elites glassed reach and a good thing they became allies and won the war just before he was going to kill the two elites, instead disarming them and a stare down with chief who tells six about what happened after reach and gets him on a call with Jun to confirm. He then becomes allies, fights off the banished from the high noon facility, evacuates the survivors from reach and go to the ark to find the spirit of fire, with missions in-between these events
A horror game based on a regular crew member surviving a flood outbreak of an unknown UNSC ship or ONI bioweapons outpost would be interesting. The goal changing from evacuating to safety to preventing a bigger outbreak would give an Aliens/The Thing/Dead Space vibe and I would be ALL FOR IT!

to an extent the books should be treated as non-cannon or semi-cannon. lost of stuff that the books established has since been contradicted by later games. (halo: fall of reach) has it established that the UNSC never encountered Elites before the Battle of Reach (this has since been massively contradicted as major ground combat against Elites was fought on places as early as the battle of Harvest.
Likewise Brutes were not encountered before Halo 2 according the source books yet its established that they were encountered in "Contact Harvest"
Books should be used as a primary source for lore but should be over printed by the games.
(such as how Halo: Reach) established that the UNSC Pillar of Autuamn took off from Reach, and did not take part in the battle. (in the original novel Halo: The Fall of Reach the Autumn is preparing for a special mission before the Covenant show up)
We NEED some games to flesh out the earlier stages of the Human Covenant war:
Its the only way we can fight the OLD covenant again with Grunts, Elites, Jackels, Skirmishers, Drones, Hunters, Brutes and Prophets. (and others potentially)
a "Pre-Reach" trilogy would be great- particularly if it included for the first time since HALO 2 some missions for the Covenant and more backstory to the scheming plans that Truth, Mercy and Regret laid out.

Now it feels like hype for the franchise is so astronomically low that they have no choice but to keep wheeling out Chief because that’s all Halo is known for due to 343’s refusal to expand the roster of protagonists when they had the chance
bingo

You don't even need a galactic apocalypse. We can fight for a colony or a system and still have crazy battles.

They're 100% gonna drop the current story. It's 343i's thing.
Do what I proposed in that Halo’s 4 to 6 was all a bad dream and Chief was still in cryo sleep this entire time.

Stacker was in H4 but i don't think H5
I know that a lot of people haven't read the books and have just played the games, so I think it's safe to say that most people didn't understand the significance of Blue Team in H5. And then H5 was. . .what it was. But even besides all that, as a harcore fan, I was SO happy to see Chief reunited with his family. The interaction of Blue Team with each other, and between all S-II's in general is something that is iconic.
Her relationship with Chief is different but has the potential to be just as good, and with Arby back, and Jerome, finding a way to stop the Flood, with Lord Hood, Laskt, Cutter and Isabella as the big side characters would be fantastic
Finally, I absolutely agree about Steve Downes.
Showing brief snippets of the Bungie trilogy (in-engine from the game it's in at that time, of course)
They could then have like an after credits cutscene showing Chief's face.
The apply for a job with them
@@Eagl3xStrik3 I'm not a game dev. Point was that if I can think of this, why can't they? They ARE game devs, yet they keep straying further and further from what made Halo successful in the first place
@@theunderdog9353 This is classic example of if you think you can do better, then take the job.
@@Eagl3xStrik3 No, your reply is a classic example of anti-criticism. Just because I think they should do things differently, doesn't mean I'm qualified to work as a game dev, and that is one of the dumbest responses out there, which I see people use way too often. So what's next, if I criticize politics I should be a politician? So what, should we just not criticize anything anymore? Is that what you're saying? Did you even read anything I said? Do you disagree that what I'm suggesting is better than the garbage 343 has been putting out? If so, why? I wrote a lot. Actually respond to it instead of trying to be be a smartass...
Let's be real, the story from Halo 3 onward needs to be rewrote. I have no idea what the hell is going on with the current story. Best to start over.
Halo is in a similar situation to Star Wars, everything post-Disney acquisition needs to be purged and a proper story planned, written, _and followed._
TBH, I think the story should follow “our” Spartan the way Reach did.
Chief could have flashbacks of Johnson. I feel like it’s been lightly treaded that he has minor PTSD.
One way the prophets could return is to have a cult of them who believe that the flood are the gods of the universe / true inheritants. That could be also used as a horror aspect as they would force people to become infected similar to how it spread in ancient humanity.
That's just Dead Space, lol
I'm not complaining though. They should 100% just steal from Dead Space.
microsoft - get rid of Joe staten and anyone who knows how to make a good halo game, hire contractors for 6 months and then fire them 🤣
In halo infinite they really missed the opportunity to use jega rdomnai for horror aside from his fight(kinda), imagine him or other silent shadow stalking us in the open world, seeing that red glowing stuff randomly not sure where the elite is
As a Reach kid, I think 343 needs to solve the whole "Pacifist AI Uprising" mess they created in 5 and I also believe they need to finish the entire master chief is the center of the Halo universe storyline.
The story ended. Chief is still in the tube
Yup
I got most of my Halo knowledge from this channel, including theories that you come up with or expose from the community. I actually only read Kelly Gay's books, but I like to consider me well versed in Halo. 😊
In the Wise and intelligently crafted words of Rick from Trailer Park Boys:
"Halo's future.... *Its FUCKED* "
No multiverse bullshit bro.
Yeah I really don’t want these supposed remakes until they finish the current story arcs.
- ODST tactical shooter
- XCOM-like Halo game
- Flood horror game
- Adventure-driven RPG game in a post-war galaxy with kig-yar smugglers, sword of sanghelios and UNSC patrols, banished raiders...
- ONI infiltration-espionnage game
The list of possibilities is long. Just expand this amazing franchise to new horizons, Microsoft, you have plenty of studios that would make choices that 343i have proven too scared to make.
I WANT THE UNSC SPIRIT OF FIRE TO RETURN!
Cool, because you're gonna go kick some arse, have a tank."
It doesn't matter how bad the situation is, when the Sergeant speaks you feel ready for whatever.
Babe wake up HiddenXperia uploaded!
Installation refused to apply to 343. He feels his life is too important to move continents.
something I'd definitely love to see is your custom spartan back in the campaign but not something like reach. instead something how arbiter from halo 2 acted where for the first third or half of the game youre chief as normal but as you go through a banished stronghold or something you'd see dead bodies and hear gunfire down the hallway with the weapon talking to you about picking up a UNSC friendly becon and as you make your way further into the stronghold you'd find more bodies and higher rank soliders before eventually you go into a large main central type of room and you see your spartan standing over a brute cheiftan and he recognizes chief with the POV switching to your Spartans after the cutscene letting you fight along side chief. dunno how realistic it is but it sounds amazing
luc if the xanalyn don't turn out to be the meddlers i think i may crash out
I’m pretty sure weaving Jun back into the story would be a nice fill for Johnson.
Honestly it’s very easy to have a good premise in a post Halo 3 era if that premise revolves around the idea of one side wanting peace and unity between humanity and covenant, and the other two radicalized sides being the Banished who wish to destroy both humanity and their once brothers in arms who they view as having betrayed their race by wishing to have harmony/allegiance with the humans that killed so many of them in the war, and the other being The Banished but for Humans who want the same thing that The Banished does but for humanity, all three factions having large armies behind them and from that war breaks out again which leads to Chief getting revived and back into the fight.
the only horror after halo 3 was the way this series was handled
As soon as you said Sgt Johnson replacement I said Buck out loud.
For me i feel like SGT Marcus Stacker would be a good replacement for Sgt Johnson cause he's been here since day one like SGT Johnson and he fought alongside him and it would ne a good chance to explore his character more and he has the wit and charm like johnson but that's my two cents.
@@ebonkinght very true
@ebonkinght he's perfect for the late 80's "military supervisor" humor. Think Major Payne or R Lee Ermey. Politically incorrect and somewhat dark, but serious when necessary. Tired of the "Marvel humor" that Halo Infinite was inundated with.
It’s crazy how much you remind me of Mr.roflwaffles and vice versa, you both have similar mannerisms and the same amount of incredible passion when talking about the lore whether it’s halo lore or cod zombies lore I love it

Oh my god, Luke you read my mind.
With each question you posed, I thought "This" and then you said "This!"
And then I was like "Yes! This!"
I got chills when you said Buck, the whole time you were building it up I was just saying it in my head over and over, "It's Buck, it's gotta be Buck."
Nathan Fillion has the charisma and soldiers would be more than happy to be lead by a Spartan.

My favourite line of halo 2, the atmosphere of this cutscene was incredible
I just want them to reboot the 343 games at this point. The story has gone to shit and they've rushed things along too quickly.
Halo Studios listening to this guy = profit
More Buck?
Hidden…bro…it ain’t going nowhere
4:38 let’s do a god of war style game with Chief and arbiter but don’t do it cheap like infinite with the cutscenes being almost the exact same. Make it actually flow and look as we are where we are like in classic cutscenes from halo 3 and such. I do hope 343 and Microsoft don’t screw this last chance up
I hope they make a spin off series that returns to that “Fight for Humanity’s Survival” feeling from the old games
That whole feeling went away when the Covenant did 😢
Something I would love to see is The Spirit of Fire finding a way to get back to the galaxy, where the crew arrives at Zeta Halo, where we see Jerome and the Chief fight together against the Banished.
bold of you asumign halo has a future after 14 years of sloppy work from 343
dem thats a lot of hopium and over dose of copium, bro it not normal keeping that hope that high kowning that 343 conly cares about macro transactions
I've dropped out of Halo since Halo 4 but I just wanted to say because I don't think its said enough - your video editing is literally perfect. It helps to keep me updated with the Halo series. I agree with EVERYTHING you say and I truly believe the devs will do well with Halo if they just took your advice.
What we NEED for the game taking place after Halo Infinite:
-343 Fired
-Actual fans HIRED
-A focus on the ODSTs
-Make the gameplay more like Doom and the Setting more like Warhammer40K!!
-The Forerunners restored to being HUMANS!
-The FLOOD RETURNING
-The Created GONE for GOOD!
-The Endless RETCONNED OUT
-The Covenant to come back!
@@beastmode1915well, 343 didn't mind retconning to make the setting worse and this would only make it better

Flood is super OP when given time to spread but with existence of other powerful factions like Created and Endless maybe it could ve more balanced.
Tbh, the moment you mentioned Johnson-type... My mind immediately screamed Buck. I just knew he'd fit that role so well.
I think that would shine even more if he returned with a half-broken set of spartan armor. Just imagine he'd replace the broken
bits with parts of his old ODST set. That'd go so hard ^^
Though I'm unsure how the rest of his team alpha-nine would fit into that story then.
If 'Rdomnai survives, I'd love to see if/how he leads the Banished forces. He'd even battle against the Swords of Sanghelios.
Another thing, if you didn't say Buck would be the new Johnson, I would have leaned toward Lasky.
@@winSonoma Nah, Lasky's more of a Keyes or Hood.
I want a cape on Chief finally.
Tbh, I would like to see the remains of the Halo ring in CE (04), possibly even some flood that survived
What would be great, besides 343 or any devs returning to the essence of the Halo ecosystem, i think we could get something interesting narratively with this setup :
- We have a part of the campaign on the side of the Arbiter, finishing his task and leading to Zeta Halo to rescue Chief and Infinity crew, they manage to go back to Reach.
- There they search for the portal to the Ark ( we can have a whole selections of missions on Reach, feel free to put your ideas )
- They arrive to the Ark, and discover that the Spirit of Fire crew where fighting here for a while, join them against the Banished and then...
3:55 RETURN OF NOBLE SIX CAVE THEORY
He’s in the cave wearing glass armor now
For real though, I think it would actually be a genius move to bring him back and reveal that he survived Reach.
