Here's another set of tips regarding Inclinations. Mind you, this will be quite a list:
1.) Aside from the Primary and Secondary slots for inclinations, there is also a hidden Tertiary slot, which can never be revealed but it exists. It is recommended that if you want your Pawn to perform well in battles, you should buy the elixirs (like Utilitarian and Challenger) and use them to adjust how your Pawn behaves.
2.) As far as what inclinations are suitable for a Pawn, it depends on their Vocation. Fighters excel at killing weaker enemies or mobs, so "Mitigator" is the best choice for Primary. Strider is the only vocation that can climb boss enemies fast, plus they can use bows which helps even further with fighting these foes from a different range, so "Scather" is recommended as Primary. Etc, etc.
3.) Do NOT make your Pawn "Utilitarian" as a Primary inclination until they have a near complete list of Bestiary Knowledge, because they will rely on exploiting weaknesses and attacking at key moments in a fight instead of taking an initiative, which they can't do either if they lack knowledge on an enemy. In fact, for example, if most enemies are ranked with 2 stars in their bestiary, Utilitarian as a Secondary is best.
3.a.) However, if your Pawn has almost complete knowledge on every enemy, Primary Utilitarian is great, especially when paired with other Pawns with the same inclination in the Primary slot. Why? Because they not only will they know how to fight enemies most of the time, they will also synchronize and use teamwork to take down the enemies more effectively and more quickly. They even follow up with commands given to each other such as "There, strike the heart!" or "Help me!" and they will do so.
4.) Mages tend to be tricky to set up for Inclinations. For offensive Mages, Challenger is not a bad choice. A supportive Mage (healing and buffs) is best given a primary Utilitarian role, even without much bestiary knowledge, with Medicant being Secondary. That way, they prioritize improving your party over attacking enemies. A Mage with well-rounded skills may either be Mitigator or Challenger as a primary, followed by Utilitarian, then Medicant. In fact, that's probably the best choice overall for Mages with little bestiary knowledge.
5.) Here is a recommended formula for a set of Inclinations for your Pawn so they fight optimally (at least for a while, since they also learn how to fight from watching you in action): 9 Primary, 6 Secondary, and 3 Tertiary. Use tertiary elixirs first, then secondary, then primary as last.

Several of these points are outdated from the console version and not relevant for the remastered title.
2.) Wrong. Regardless of old version or new. Fighters lack AoE abilities compared to other classes and die faster fighting a swarm of weak enemies compared to bigger targets. This is because the mobs will fan out to attack if they bunch up. Resulting in the Fighter getting surrounded and getting hit from behind. Where they cannot use their shield to guard from attacks. They're best served focusing on large enemies utilizing Scather (which also increases climbing speed).
3.)This is one of the outdated tips from the original game. They improved the ai a bit for the remaster. If your pawn has Utilitarian as a focus but lacks knowledge on mobs that are present. The system will now default their actions to the secondary inclination by temporarily making that the focus (this isn't displayed on the status window but confirmed by the devs prior to release). So there's no harm in having Utilitarian as a focus while first forging your way through the game with little or no knowledge. Especially since a pawn with Utilitarian focus but no knowledge will more quickly learn that knowledge if you rent a pawn with the knowledge that also has Utilitarian.
4.) Again, no. Challenger is horrible for Mages and Sorcs. It's rare that they will have good line of sight to ranged enemies to target and land their spells (especially multi-target lock-on spells as you'll accidentally tag melee enemies that are between you in the process instead of focusing the single caster or bowman). And Mages silence spell requires they be in close proximity to stop an enemy caster. Which will prompt them to run through the melee to do so...that's a big NOPE right there. They're best served as Mitigators so they can capitalize on their multi-target and AoE spells. Something to note, however. If you run either Mitigator or Utilitarian on a Mage. Do Not Give Them Frazil!! As they will run into melee to utilize it against enemies weak to Ice (or with Damp debuff). The AI doesn't snap-cast the cone attack and will walk slowly with the AoE pulse. This is meant to be used defensively to stack and achieve the freezing debuff when pressured by weak melee mobs. It does horrible damage for the stamina cost and running in to use it puts you at risk (or the pawn in this case). So you'll need to rely on Ice Affinity against mobs weak to ice as a Mage.
5.) There's no reason to stack that many potions. Anything more than five for the primary and four in secondary is a waste. As the effect diminishes for each successive potion used. It would be better to hold onto the additional potions and use them to reset your inclinations when they get out of hand again at a later time. As they'll have more effect then.

John, are you telling me a Mage would do a better job against a mob than a Fighter... who has no skills like Full Moon Slash to deal with them? They can't even block.
These tips aren't outdated, because I applied them based on 60 hours for the recent release of Dragon's Dogma. They're still relevant, and I don't know where you got the idea that a Primary Utilitarian focuses on their lower inclinations when having little knowledge, but from my experience... the Pawns do almost nothing.
As for Challenger for Mages, well... okay yeah, I may have been lucky.
I'll also agree on the potions.

    Another tip:
Buy a bunch of empty bottles, set up a port crystal at the healing spring near the catacombs. Then port over there, give each of your pawns some empty bottles and step into the healing spring. There you can fill your empty bottles with spring water, which serves as curative just like Harspud potions. Your pawns will fill their empty bottles automatically. And best of all - it's completely free!

Some addendums for Tips #1 and #15 regarding escort quests:
    1. While you’re grabbing quests willynilly, make sure NOT to grab escort quests until you’re ready for them, since the npc can die and you’ll fail the quest.
    2. You can not redo failed escort quests without restarting via New Game+ or Hard Mode reset.
    3. When you rest at an Inn or enter a Riftstone, it makes a Checkpoint Save. So make sure you do one of those before starting an escort quest, because this will allow you to revert to last checkpoint if the quest fails. That goes for anything you’re worried about making a mistake on actually. Manual saves aren’t as reliable since the game often auto saves over theres.
    4. As for Riftstones, make sure you run to the destination of the escort quest and place one BEFORE you grab the quest, otherwise the npc will be with you and in danger, which defeats the whole purpose. Also keep in mind that there are multiple escort quests for some of the same locations, so once you place the Portcrystal, you can do them one after another since you can only do one at a time.
    5. Lastly, and very important. If you want access to some of the best weapons and armor outside of Bitterblack Isle, make sure you are an absolute gentleman and pushover when doing a certain semi-escort quest within the main city with a certain little brat, I mean angel. Your behavior affects your reward, which is to be given to a certain vendor so he sells the goodies, so make sure to Checkpoint save in case you mess it up.

Would like to add keep the rusted weapons, especially the fast weapons like strider's daggers and bow. Upgrade all the way to dragon forged when possible, at 3 stars they can torpor enemies, though I believe it's more frequent when dragon forged. Torpor is your best friend for most enemies because it's a slow debilitation. Sorcerer's lassitude/high lassitude inflicts torpor as well, which is kind of mandatory if you play sorcerer and your pawns aren't holding aggro or if you want to solo as sorcerer. When it comes to aggro, you'll know who has it depending who that enemy is looking at

Also, for quicker play throughs in the future u can set up port crystals at certain spots to make quests almost instantly completable in some situations. Catacombs, Quarry, Bluemoon Tower, Shadow Fort and the Dragonforge guy NW of gran soren. There’s a giant figure w spear that’s outlined into the ground, at the bottom of this figure is a cave entrance. The Cypher Quest is immediately completable by fast traveling to the Dragonforged and skipping all steps in between.

My best fight/victory was Randomly fighting that Stupid CHIMERA in the FOREST. *I kept triggering, or my pawns kept triggering this Trap* (the ones with the 2 sticks and the rope) and that stupid Chimera came Bee-Boppin down the mountain to Kill Me and my pawns!
UGH, I died like 6 times........... But while running away to attack from a distance (I'm a Mage) I decided to attack from a top some high Rocks. Best Decision! I did die a few times, but attacking from a higher place was my best option! My pawns distracted it and I kept firing magic.
THE fight was so Intense I had to go through the Night fighting it (and other monsters)...... It got really risky when my pawns died and I had to jump down the rocks to revive them and then run back Up the rocks (or when that stupid monster try attacking me from up there)... it was Insane! But I loved it!
I never experienced that......it was Great! Oh sweet victory after I killed it !! >_

My tip for newcomers: if you are going for a completionist run trying to do as many side quests as you can before finishing the main questline you are going to be wayyyy overpowered and the dragon boss is going to be wayyy easy. Take heed. I was lvl ~60 when going for Grigori and it was too easy. You can continue doing quests in new game plus so dont try to do everything on your first playthrough.
I really love playing this game, loving the combat and mechanics and style and all that, but its really lacking in some areas. Especially the lack of challenge. And too bad Capcom isn't going to fix taht anymore. Enemies should be a lot stronger and some should scale with the arisen in my opinion. I will probably compensate this by going solo or main pawn only.

Actually the game is challenging. It only becomes easy if you hire other player's op pawns and do the BI run early to get op equips early or max your character lvl in a jiff. I never hired someone else's pawn or did any of the BI exploits so I have a pretty fun challenging playthrough. I am tired of people saying the game is too easy when they use exploits to get op.

@@agonleed3841 Sekiro feels like realistic combat in the sense of deflecting and attacking and dying in a couple hits, but it also has some mythical elements.
I definitely don't care about realistically dying fast in an RPG element where you level up. The whole point is to grow stronger and stomp monsters, I don't want to die in a couple hits in a game that looks this janky lol

Something I've not been able to determine, do non player pawns show up in the Rift or not? I ask, because sometimes it asks me to rate pawns, so I know they are another player's pawn, but sometimes it doesn't.
Are the pawns it's not asking me to rate or send a gift with just randomly generated ingame pawns? Guess I'll know for sure if I don't finish with the game before the 31st, and the servers go down for the 360 version.

    • @AnamanaCh
      @AnamanaCh  6 років тому +4

I believe so, yes. If you have no internet and go to the rift, all of those pawns are non-player pawns. So, if you pick up one of those pawns out in the world or if somehow you don't connect to the rift correctly, you'll sometimes get CPU pawns and won't be able to rate and so on.

I hate how everyone says stats are meaningless thinking just about level 100+, you can totally screw your character earlier than that for many hours of play if you change vocations how you shouldn't.
On my first play through i heed that advice and decided to explore the magic vocations after being really satisfied with warrior. I did absolutely no damage with normal attacks and needed many basic speels to kill a single bandit. Since everyone said stats didn't matter, I thought I just needed to level up the vocation a bit. By the end I needed to use the slowest, most powerful spells to do anything to any giant enemy. It was super boring. Wort thing is, when I realized it was all for nothing and came back to warrior, I did shit damage, fights were unsatisfying and I needed to use arcs of obliteration to do anything to monsters. There was no point in climbing beasts since my regular attacks were just useless.
I almost left the game and missed out on the best it had to offer because of this.

  • @switchunboxing

I’m stuck because none of my quests indicate they are main quest. I have a LOT of filler quests (kill 5 this, 7 that). And I can’t even tell if they’re locations I ever have access to.
I try to get a sense of what’s going on by pressing “X to view on map”. It pulls up the map with no indication of where the quest is.. and then if I hit B for back, it doesn’t go back a step, it goes back to the pause menu. So I have to go through selecting quests and then X to see on map again. When on the map, not only does it not show what I’m looking for, but I can’t freely move around the map.. maybe if I go “back”.
So anyways yeah the quest management and map so far SUUUUUUHCLLKSSS. And I’ve managed to get into a couple battles for the ones I can find, but when I do, I die really quickly or they are basically sponges where it would literally take 45 minutes for me to kill two enemies if I were to go through with it.
