Absolutely! Bruges (Dutch/Flemish Brugge) is an absolute must-see in Belgium and is an easy day trip from Brussels by train. Lovely old mediaeval city with canals, super town hall, old Cloth Hall with tower, Chapel of the Holy Blood, Begijnhof/Beguinage (a type of convent) which is by the swan-filled waterway.....and more besides. And try some of the huge variety of Belgian beers while you're there -- Geuze, Kriek, Lambic, Trappist...try also the best potato fries (Frites/frieten) in the world - the Belgians invented them! Bruges/Brugge grew rich on the wool trade with England - but then its river silted up and it went into decline. It was rediscovered by the Romantic Movement and is now a top destination. Don't miss it!
Also if you want a nice winter/Christmassy destination, you should try Alsace, France. Places like Colmar, Strasbourg, Riquewihr... Great wine, great food, great scenery.
I'm Belgian and although the big cities such as Bruges, Ghent and Antwerp are great places to go, there are regions which in my opinion are very overlooked by tourists and are definitely worth a visit. One being "de westhoek", an area in the west where the majority of fighting during WWI took place. There's a beautiful memorial/museum called "in flanders fields" in Ypres which is beautiful and also very informative. Also in Ypres you can visit the Menin Gate where they still play the Last Post for the fallen soldiers every evening. There are also monuments, trenches and graveyards you can visit in the area. Secondly I would recommend crossing the language border into the French speaking part, and visiting the Ardennes, a region of forests, hills and unspoiled nature in the south of the country. My favorite towns are Durbuy and Dinant. In Han-Sur-Lesse the Domain of Han is situated, where you'll find caves and wildlife such as bears, deer, wolves, etc. And lastly -I might be biased because I live there myself-, but definitely don't miss out on visiting Leuven, a very cosy city close to Brussels. Leuven is a true student city, it's the home of the oldest Catholic University in the world AND (maybe more importantly) of Stella Artois. What's also really interesting is that the city centre was destroyed twice during both World Wars, but rebuild in the original style, thus making no building older than 50 years whilst everything looks medieval. Oh and the University's central library looks like it may belong at Hogwarts. Enough said. Enjoy Belgium!!
Do try to visit the Atomium in Northern Brussels. They have a pretty amazing restaurant that takes evening bookings after the main museum part has closed. The park around the atomium is also pretty neat.
if you make it over to London (and haven't checked it before) - have a look at the Sir John Soane museum - one of the most insanely unusual collections and buildings in the whole of the UK (and it's free - just make you check the days it's open).
Oh how cool, you're in my home country!! I don't live there myself any more, so it's always nice to see videos from people travelling there, haha. You've probably already left by now, but if you are still there and ran out of ideas, visit my home town Dendermonde. It's a small town, dating back to Medieval times. About 30km NW from Brussels. Most of it was completely destroyed during WW I, but many of the buildings, including the Town Hall and Belfry and all houses on the market place, were rebuilt in their original style :) Looking forward to your next videos, have fun!
Chill, sleep and relax for a few days, then maybe visit Bruges, the picturesque port city of Belgium, also Antwerp, Diamond capital of the world. The beauty of Brussels is its proximity to other countries like, Germany, Luxemburg, France and the Netherlands, all about one hours drive away. Love to see you visit some Bulkan countries while in Europe, Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo, Croatia. Happy travels.
My wife and I just went to Brussels! It’s beautiful in the center but be careful it gets bad if you leave the small area... Also definitely take the train to Ghent it’s about 30 mins from Brussels and about 20euros for both of you round trip... the city is so small and beautiful cobble stone and castles with a river running through it and small cafes and shops everywhere.. food tips in Brussels would be frites, gyros, French tacos, and mussels! Get the frites with mayo and peanut sauce with onions to die for!
There's an amazing fish and chips place near Delerium. You have to check it out. The panko crusted salmon is amazing! Actually the whole menu is amazing. We eat there multiple times everytime we go to Brussels.
I hope that was clean bedding on the bed, not what the previous people had just taken off. What a strange apartment, so long and narrow. You both looked as "refreshed" as I do when I wake up. ;-) Thanks for another great video, I'm looking forward to seeing where you go next.
You literally are doing the things in life I love most: traveling and eating amazing food. Can we switch lives? How did you achieve this? You're literally living my dream life!
P. D. Christmas markets in Germany are super cool! You must try the Glühwein and the Lebkuchenherz! Its starting to be really cold here, so I hope you brought your jacket! Liebe Grüße 😊
I would 100% recommend going to a proper German Christmas Market, my fav are Berlin, Dortmund and Nuremberg. But most cities will have some lovely ones.
So sorry to hear that you guys had such a rough flight. Hope you guys finally got some rest. Love and missing Europe right now so this is perfect the more of it the merrier. So glad to see my top 3 "Flying the Nest, "The way away" and you guys are all visiting my favorite places at the moment! :D If you go to Slovenia like you mentioned, definitely go to Lujublijana and Bled!! They are amazing!!! My husband proposed to me in Bled on the island in the middle of the lake across from the castle :) Male sure you see the castle too! The last time we were there they had just had the most snow they ever had in 20 yrs! Lol snow drifts were plowed as high as the big bus (like mega bus ) we were rode into Bled. Anyways! There are some other places to see there too like Postanja Caves and if you have any questions just shoot and I would love to help and their food is sooooo good!!! :) Also,
Hey! I just got back from Belgium, I can't wait to see if we do the same thing. I just posted a video of my time in Brussels! How funny! We were there for 3 days, we did day trips to Ghent and Bruges in one day, I recommend that. If you wanted specifics, That video isn't out till Monday, but I doubt you need my tips haha
We did with some Friends the trip of Slovenia/Austria & Germany. It was beautiful especially Slovénia with the small town and the grilled suckling-pig along the road. Kranj, Triglav National Park and Bled (but very touristic, kinda disapointed). After we went in Austria (eating the beautiful strudel and the soups in the gasthof). We did the GrossGlockener but I think at the time you will be there it will be closed due to snow. Guys, keep going in this direction, nice work and enjoy your travel ;p You make me envy so much (saying the guy which is living since 4 month in cross atlantic in Canada for studies ^^)
Our travel hack when arriving at a new country super early (when it feels like our bed time) is to just push through the day! Fall into bed at night time and crash, but you’ll wake up in the morning back into routine with the time!! (Being in NZ our flights are sooo long to get to Europe and this has worked well for us each time!)
Mot the best start and also not the best flight having no peace to sleep....huge respect, because I have only done long haul once and the jet lag is not what I want to ever experience again,as I was ill.hopefully, after a catch up,you start enjoying your travels.best wishes ☺️👍
I don’t know if u have ever been to Liverpool in England you can do ferry across the mersey as the song have a brilliant time in Belgium we love Belgium but only been to Oostende and Bruges because am now in a wheelchair
Love your videos. What part of Germany are you looking at for Christmas markets? I leave the US on the 29th to head there to do the same. I have family in the western part. Hope y'all have a great time.
I'm going to Christmas market in Germany too. Yesterday I got back from Dusseldorf. The wooden houses are already placed but it was still closed. I don't know yet which German city I would go. Where are you guys going?

I would HIGHLY recommend going to Bruges. It's a beautiful little city and I think less than an hour from Brussels.

Do try to visit the Atomium in Northern Brussels. They have a pretty amazing restaurant that takes evening bookings after the main museum part has closed. The park around the atomium is also pretty neat.

Welcome back to Europe! It's about to get really cold!
looks like vefry yummy homecooking. Enjoy!
Take it easy, thanks!
It would be helpful to put in the description what dates i.e time period your episode covers to add more context.
Come on guys. You didn't like that chocolate cake your received on the Tui flight? I received the same a couple of days ago and it made my evening :)
You should try Dubrovnik and also Dartmoor in Devon.
Guys def check out Slovenia! Arguably it’s better in the summer, but it’s a massively underrated country.

Thanks for the comment! That's what we typically do, but we wanted to try something different. For us, the nap helped!
those osprey bags look sick! Do you like to use the rollers over the backpacking packs? or do you do one over the other depending on the trip?
Enjoy guys
Mot the best start and also not the best flight having no peace to sleep....huge respect, because I have only done long haul once and the jet lag is not what I want to ever experience again,as I was ill.hopefully, after a catch up,you start enjoying your travels.best wishes ☺️👍
When we first traveled to Europe, the jet lag was so rough 🤕 But it doesn't affect us as much these days. I guess you can get used to anything!
He’s,i suppose your right...hence,your travellers
You’re in my country?!! Go to bruges it’s the most beautiful city in Belgium. 45 minutes by train from Brussels. You’ll love it!
We sure are! We've visited Bruges already actually a couple years ago (didn't film it), but loved it. Pretty crowded but the town is stunning 😍
Back to the good travel videos, long day

Happy to help with places to visit if you make it to Ireland.

Eric & Allison, a couple things that Flying the Nest missed in Ljubljana...
Potica (“pah TEET sa”): A nut roll (or poppy seed). I think Flying the Nest tasted a small sample but didn't know what it was. I could be wrong. Recipes have been passed down through the generations even to Slovenian-Americans in Northern Minnesota and Cleveland. LePotica Shop in Ljubljana specializes in miniature poticas. You might want to keep an eye out at other cafes or bakeries for the more traditional potica slices if LePotica doesn't have them.
Carniolan Sausage: Flying the Nest missed this one for obvious reasons. Klobasarna is a good place to go for this. Otherwise, you might find it at the Open Kitchen. I'm not sure.
Have fun, and thanks for the stellar videos!
Also, you might want to ask a local how to pronounce Slovenia. I' think it probably differs from how Eric said it.
I hope this means you will be visiting Australia! I have been thinking this is somewhere u need to go. I am not Australian but I have been and it’s wonderful there and the people are so lovely 😁
We will next year for sure!
When you had a 5 hour wait in the airport why didnt you use the lounge pass you were promoting a little while ago?
Hi sir. Can I ask how much your payment the plain ticket Philippines to Belgium?
Our approach is to sleep for 1-1 1/2 hours, then go out, walk, eat until it is at least 10 PM local. Next day is fine, night after, might sleep fitfully, so will take a light sleeping pill - advil PM or melatonin to help that second night. I think 3 hours is too much sleep (for us).
I hope you two do a Polynesian trip vlog one day.
Moules et Frites!😃😍
Jetlag is hard to beat thats for sure
Go to Gent, Brugge en Dinant or something when you guys are in Belgium. If you need specifics or anything lemme know, I live not too far from Brussels. Have fun here :D
Cool you guys!! Are you going to be in Paris??!
Were you able to pay your TUI ticket with an American credit card?
