      Thanks for your comment. I know what you mean, although I seem to have run out of vids that interest me now! We all need the freedom to film more content soon. Stay safe. Paul.

    Wonderful video and it brings back fond memories. I rode a BMW F750gs there in mid-September 2021. We had stayed the night before in a hotel in Trafoi and left at 9:00 am on a weekday. There was hardly any traffic going up. Later, when going down toward Bormio, it became busier by a lot. Two hours later we traveled over the Gavia Pass, which is more challenging and outright scary at times. I will now look for more of your videos, I can't get enough of that beautiful scenery in the Alps.

    Once again, an excellent vlog 👍 Watched with plenty of beer in hand 😋 🍻
    You're right, it's a tick-box road, not a rider's road. I rode it later the same day, in rain ascending, then sleet descending 🙄
    I was late, as I'd also ridden a few passes in the Dolomites earlier that day.
    That's the second time I've ridden the Stelvio, and I see no reason to rush back 🤐
    I passed the opportunity to also ride Umbrail (again) due to the worsening weather.
    I thought I'd done well till, on the descent, I latched on to a local riding in jeans and trainers. I was in full weatherproof riding gear, and shivering; he left me for dead 🤫
    I consoled myself with 1. The thought that he had local "knowledge", and 2. Drinking plenty of beer that evening.
    Which brings me full circle...😉

      Morning RDC, I'd been meaning to ask you, whether you prefer to view two fairly long tour Episodes (50-60mins) of a trip like mine...or do you prefer the way some UA-camrs do theirs with DAY1, DAY2, DAY3? Cheers, Paul.

      Good evening Paul, I live in Italy, north east coast on Adriatic sea, Cesena. Usually Ride my bike through Appennini pass (from Cesena to west coast) or Alps Pass. Ciao.

    Great video, but the normal speed was so much more enjoyable to watch. Tail of the Dragon here in the states has nothing on this. However, it still has quite a few switchbacks and hairpins, but it's in the woods for most of it with one good lookout point near the middle.

      @YarroMoto  4 роки тому

      Thanks for your feedback from the States 'gremmann' and I do not disagree but no other footage was available from way up. I had decided that TimeLapse would offer opportunity to film it all...and leave me some space on the SD card to film remainder of the days ride. The only vids I seem to see of the 'Tail of the Dragon'...are crashes! I'll limit my TimeLapse sections in future then 😎

      @@YarroMoto Funny you say that about the "Tail" videos. There's a lot of riders that feel it's a race. My buddy and I did it a few years back and had no problems what so ever. My favorite quote from a movie is for Clint Eastwood in "Magnum Force", "A man's got to know his limitations". Ride safe my friend. BTW, what are you riding?

    Having only been back on the road a couple of years, and carrying a pillion, would you advise this route or would you maybe suggest thinking long and hard about it ?

      I’ve ridden this pass many times but never with a pillion. Unless you are feeling confident I would think twice before attempting .
      An alternative is to either ride the bormio side first and then go down the twisty side or go via the umbrail pass and again go down the twisty side. It is a lot easier going down because you are on the right hand side of the hairpins have more room and can see what is coming up.
      Either way the views are magnificent. If you don’t mind narrow passes team the stelvio ride with the gavia pass and have a great time.

      @davidcarson9085 4 роки тому +2

      I agree with the other comments if you want to do the stalvio with a pillion go up say the umbrail which is pretty but less traffic and go down the famous side of the stelvio. It’s generally easier going down than up. The problem with the stelvio is traffic and going up it’s difficult to see the traffic coming down which tends to come across your side of the road on the switch backs. And you don’t want to be stopping with a pillion on the back on an uphill bend🙂
