I'd like to add an extra perspective on Battle Force 2000 vs Tiger Force (this will also apply to Night Force and Python Patrol). As an army kid my friends, family and I all got into GI Joe very young because Joes were the biggest thing on Base for kids. We could imagine the characters were our dads and their coworkers; I always saw Flint as a representation of my dad. My first Joe was '84 Mutt and I was born in '82, meaning I either got my first Joe at 2 years old or my parents bought Mutt and held him for a year or two before giving him to me. Either way I was very young. Being so young, we either didn't get a lot of the classic Joes, or didn't take care of them so they got lost or broken. We were familiar with them because of media and cross-sells though, so we often wanted them. The rerelease lines were a way for us to get the figures that we missed out on, which made them very cool to us. BF2000 didn't have that built-in desirability.

However, I'd add, the Python Patrol, and Tiger Force figures were mostly painted terribly. I want the original Roadblock, not one with tiger stripes on the helmet. Or the original Copperhead, not one with snake skin paint. That's just stupid. I'd much rather have all new original figures like BF2000 than lazy repaints of existing figures like Slaughters Maurauders, Python Patrol and Tiger Force.

This is one of my favorite vehicles in my collection. I'm not a fan of the rest of the battle force vehicles however in my opinion this one has great play value and the colors are more or less realistic. Some of the older joe's from '82 fit well in the driver's seat and the roll cage is sufficient. The removable battle platform and hidden missile system is a fantastic design element with tons of play and display options.

One more thing- this vehicle is so inexpensive on the aftermarket that even a complete, unbroken one can be obtained for $15 shipped. My 3 used copies have intact steering columns and I havnt found them to be problematic. The type of plastic used is far more sturdy that many of the older vehicles and there's far more tolerance when disassemble is necessary for repair.

@@gunnersmate7482I don't think they're that cheap now. Wouldn't be surprised if it was 60 or so dollars for this vehicle now.

Blocker had better driver protection in his taxi than in the Eliminator! :D

I'm guessing I got a Blocker/Maverick 2 pack at some point as a kid. likely it was on clearance somewhere. I remember having the 2 of them, but I don't think I would have chosen them separately.

You forgot to talk about the back pockets.

  • @samfrito

Poor Blocker has to duck under the stupid roll bar to see while driving. You have to wonder if this was a case of two different teams making action figure and driver. I guess this is a lesson to always package driver with the vehicle.

Fun review and thus far the only BF2000 vehicle I like! I had blocker from the 2-pack with Maverick and the Gray/Orange camo was a fave of mine when I first saw it. Keep the fun coming!

A roll-cage vehicle makes sense for a light vehicle, which armies still use today. Maybe they wanted to emulate that, although the eliminator is a little too much on the heavy armoured side for that

    • @ryanbwags
      @ryanbwags 7 років тому +1

It's not the roll cage so much as the fact the roll cage doesn't extend above his his head. Its a useless roll cage.

Great content! A recent desire to start collecting the vintage G.I.Joe figures I had in the late 80s and early 90s introduced me to your channel. Love the passion you put into these videos. Super entertaining and informative. I appreciate the lore, popular culture, and real world comparisons you incorporate into each review. Lot's of work and it pays. It has fueled several late nights of childhood frenzied must buy lists. Now just to find the best ones to buy. I look forward to the adventure!

    Hi HCC,
Will you analyze if there is any commander of the Battle Force 2000 and if there is the need to have it or not?
I think the most of the sub-teams have a commander, like Duke in Tiger Force, SkyDive in Sky Patrol, etc.
When I was a kid some kids were saying Dodger was the leader (I don't know really based on what) and others Maverick, due to his high rank.
    Thank you.

I like blocker his orange camo is more of an earth tone with the grey it's not terrible I like the visor version better and the future fortress is looking depressing I figured it would at least make a full square perimeter and the way it's looking the vindicator isn't going to help much! Still these reviews coming a few months after I completed the bf2000 figures are making me want to collect the vehicles as well so I'll be trying to add them to my collection very nice review I'm glad we got a middle of the week review

It's a good review. I'm not sure I can come up with a production-type vehicle based on the Eliminator that would be superior to other Joe general purpose vehicles. Instead I'd redesign it to make use of his secondary specialty of entertainment. Three pop-up flat-screen TVs on the back of the vehicle facing left, right, and back with directed sound and curtains to minimize unwanted noise. Each screen would have a game console networked together. There would still be a walk-up stairs but on both sides to a central kiosk for snacks. There would be front compartments for sports balls and a violin as a nod to the Starship Troopers movie.

blocker is a decent figure design could have been made better if he had more accessories and not BF2000. a question for joefan82, what is the air speed of an unladen swallow?

another great review!!! not a fan of the figure, but the vehicle has some potential for custom fodder. I really like the removable battle platform... :)

I also prefer the Blocker with the visor. A proper helmet would be a nice improvement.

Blocker has some serious thigh gap on the remake. I really liked the original figure, but his vehicle was absolute trash. I can’t tell the front from the back. It just looks like a brick with a cannon on top.

HI ! First I have hope that you are fine ... So it's looks another poor construct Jeep type ? :P Why they build missile rack close to fuel tank ? During combat this could be fatal end for driver . This type of rack reminded me World War II " Katusha " type one rocket launcher , Red Army used similar mechanism ... Am begins fell so happiness that I heaved in my kid past this figure too without vehicle but why these price was so high ? There was many finest Joe's who was better & more fun ...

Wow. These reviews of Battle Force 2000 has taught me something, namely that this group was even cornier than I thought at the time. I remember wanting the Future Fortress, but then seeing a few of the vehicles in stores and immediately changing my mind. Glad I skipped them.Oh, and the modern FSS figures don't look any better than the originals, so I'm glad I let my membership lapse. Too much money for too little payoff in the form or kitbashed rehashed figures most fans never cared much for to begin with.
