Swapped it for a Micro! What a great story. Get rid it if it is a bad car. wish I had done that with my race car before I put too much money in it. Car has not been on track this year. Effing car!
Mate, you’ve done exactly what we all do, love them one minute, hate it the next. The beauty of the InfluEnzo is that it’s never fixed enough to allow me to sell it!!
I like these type of videos. I also enjoy watching Shmee150 taking delivery of yet another unaffordable car. But this is way more relatable. Think you've made the right decision. Now make the right one for your next purchase. I think this kind of compares with Robert Mitchell selling a bunch of really nice cars just to buy his dream car -> E30 M3. When he speaks of that car you can tell he is way more passionate than about his 488 Pista, or one of his McLarens. For me that car is a Ferrari F40, so it will never happen :-)
TBH James, Gallardo's are over exposed on UA-cam, so it wouldn't really have been that "fresh". Also, lets face it, the car was not right and would have been something Hoovie would end up with.
Totally cool man, I appreciate your honesty. I think a lot of car enthusiasts have been in a similar position where the car you thought you wanted just doesn’t work out.
As the owner of a car that definitely falls more into the expensive category (even if it's not a Lambo) all I have to say on the subject is this: my shortlist for next cars includes multiple cheap hatchbacks and no Porsches. That said, owning at least one flashy sports car was something I 100% don't regret (unless the gearbox breaks...£12k apparently!) but it's something worth doing once.
@@ApothecaryTerry yeah I've been there with the expensive cars when I was younger, had a E46 and E92 both at 18, C63 after that and so on like a idiot, big bills for silly stuff like the throttle actuators and tyres etc, but I don't regret them at all, I'm certainly happier with the older collection that I have now
@@JamesCherrill If I had cars like that at 18 I'd definitely have crashed them! I say that with confidence since I crashed my first 2 cheap cars ☺ My current car (981CS) has an aircon issue so that's probably £1500 for the condensers sadly...although to be fair it's gained nearly £5k in the 9 months I've owned it. Still, I really miss thrashing the nuts off a small car and just not caring about the cost. Having both would be ideal, but no space.
Honestly, I think people want to see more regular cars like the Micra over Lamborghinis and other exotic stuff anyway. Like they're nice every now and then. But a series of videos on one would probably just get kinda boring. So it's no big loss in my opinion. I agree about buying a car you want to drive over one you want to show off in.
Lucky escape, getting rid of that Lambo. I know we'll agree to disagree, but I still feel there was hidden crash damage, what with replacement sub-frames, etc on that car. And that horrible driving manner reinforces that for me. Well done for getting shot of it. Stick to the Ferrari. 😉
James remember when I spotted and stopped next to you driving from Bingham to Nottingham a few weeks back in the Gallardo. It did sound lovely. Diablo is better. Micra super turbo better still.
It is always a problem with second hand older cars - how much of the poor handling and ride is down to the suspension being shot. I'm surprised a mechanic could not tell you that though - check for play in the bushings, check the rebound on the shock, check alignment etc. I have said before I really think with older second-hand cars, it's well worth checking what sort of condition the suspension is in. So we can know is it just this car or all of them? I know it's not practical for you to do, but it would be nice.
Need a full on review of the micra, not just driving, but storage, practicality etc. If it's a proper shed, then do a couple of videos of putting it through its paces!
We all appreciate your honesty James, your channel has been built on integrity. No hard feelings here. 👍 Looking forward to the reveal of the replacement. P.S. Fill the Micra with fireworks and set fire to it???
Hi ! I appreciate the fact that you are transparent (while protecting your privacy) about the cars. The promise you made was impossible to keep if you didn’t enjoy the Gallardo (that is the main reason to buy a car and follow your purchases). Plus with your new daily (and the 550), you still have some of the flair and passion of the Lamborghini (and I prefer the exhaust sound of the daily, even if the blue one was great in that regard). I’m sad to see it go without being restored but the most important thing is that you enjoy your own cars (whatever your community think about them). Keep doing what you’re doing. 😃
You have told the truth and if some can't handle that then don't worry. Supercars - not always what you want them to be and sometimes you just have to do the right thing and sell it. It's your car or was and bought with your own hard earned cash - Never Apologise - Just tell us some nice stories with happy endings like getting all your money back.
unless i win a lottery a Lamborghini is way above my paygrade, i'm more interestd in the Micra. I I had the cash to afford a Lambo, i'd rather opt for een mercedes or Jag
Thanks J, never feels right to sink more money into something you don't enjoy, & no guarantee it will work. Buyer is maybe exactly the right person to take it on, if so, then win-win. Enjoy the Micra!
I used to drive a Micra back in the day, the one that won all the awards in the 90s. It was super basic, weighed nothing and had a 1.6, 16v EFi engine. It looked a bog-standard, steel-wheeled bubble of a car, but it would beat most mini hot hatches, and others from that period, off the line. And it handled brilliantly too, with it's little narrow wheels on each corner. It was so much fun!
You traitor how could you do this to us ! 😂😊 As it's been said it was your car and you could do with it as you please, your WAY to hard on yourself. This may sound cheesy but your an inspiration to many many people. Keep up the great content, buy and sell what cars you like and please stop apologising for your actions. Can't wait to see what's up next 👍👍
James, you are decent enough for me. Blessings will come and you'll get your dream vehicle I'm sure, the other viewers on You Tube will understand your explanation. I passed my test @ 50 in one of those Micra things when I wasn't expecting to. Thumbs up for your honest opinions and reviews!! Philip Cupid in Switzerland!!
I understand when you fall out of love with a car and then want to move on. For example my Father has recently sold his Audi RS3 because he no longer loves the car. He said he got fed up with the start-up noise from the exhaust even in mornings when neighbours were asleep. The Audi RS3 was a pre-PPF therefore lots of noise. He has decided to move to his first electric car. He has ordered a Porsche (his first Porsche) Taycan 4S Cross Turismo with quite a few extras. He also got the house ready with three phase therefore he can charge the new car at 22kW AC.
Right, watched it through now. I'm sorry it wasn't the car for you but glad you got a good outcome. That you maintain your integrity towards your viewers is important too of course, but glad to see some responsible financial management on car youtube! For your sake, not ours.
No need to be sorry, your honesty is refreshing. I bought my dream car (well my realistic one!) in 2014, a TVR Griffith, as a bit of a rolling project. Since then, life has happened and it sits in my garage driven just a few hundred miles a year - this year it's not even going on the road and the state of the car makes me miserable. I can't bring myself to admit I've fallen out of love and particularly I don't know what else I would get in its place. Well done for taking the brave decision that I can't!
Forget about selling the Galliardo - what I NEED to understand, given your usually impeccable continuity, is the unexplained switching between a white and a blue Galliardo from the beginning!! I expect an immediate resolution within the next three minutes, James!!! Thank you!! What a relief!
Being blunt, I'm stunned you've felt the need to explain it. This is your money, car and your well being. As I've heard others say "I've paid for it and I'll do what I want with it". Keen to see the replacement. 👍
As others have said, your money, your choice. If you don’t like it you have the right to do whatever pleases you. At least you owned a Lamborghini for a while (half a year still counts) and you can tick one thing off the bucket list.
So new shocks and new seats would probably fix it? I would have tried it if it was a convertible manual! Anyways I think the easy fix would be just replacing it with a better one without all the mechanical issues and maybe just changing the seats!
I’ve done the opposite and stuck with a car that I should have gotten out off, but you have confronted and delay with the issue, well done and now you can focus on the next car which of course we will all follow as you have proven your openness to the community that follow you
Been a subscirber since your Evora 400 days. My initial thought when the notifcation popped up on my phone at work today was "plonker", but having watched your video JayEmm I very much respect your honesty and why you moved the Gallardo on. I'm grateful you were honest as it counts for a lot and shows your integrity. I know how it is when you fall out of love with a car and it no longer makes you happy; it happended to me with my first Lotus, a Europa S. I now have an Evora Launch Edition that I'm still very much in love with after 7 years of ownership. It would take something that was very special to make me part with the Evora. As a long time Lotus fan, possibly only the Emira in V6 form could do that if it's as good as I think it will be. Planning to go to F.O.S. on the Thursday to see it - looking very much forward to that. It would be great if you could have the Emira on your channel when it comes out. Keep up the great content!

He sold it because he didn’t like it. If he was a proper UA-camr, he would have made a load of video’s on it and absolutely milked it for everything and then sold it
You do have you have to do. I've spent 8 years restoring my current toy and now that its driving and looking good I feel slightle 'done' with it too but because of the friends I've made during the restoration I feel a little guilty about thinking of putting it up for sale. Another reason for selling is that I seem to have contracted a disease, Jag-itus, type F. The only cure must surely be to own one?
Keeping a car that expensive, that you've fallen out of love with, hard, would be idiotic. You did the right thing imo.

I can only speak for myself James but I'm not pisses you sold the car for one main reason, it's YOUR car and you did what was right for YOU😉 A close 2nd is your not the typical UA-cam DB❗
It wouldn't be fair to force yourself to continue pouring money into a car you don't love just for the viewers. And personally I don't really care what you are driving, the important part is the honesty you are providing.
Thanks Maxim
Bring on the Micra!!
On an unrelated note TVR week has long gone but I’d love to hear your thoughts on the Griffith 500. I’m very close to pulling the trigger and buying the dream car...a video might just be the push I need 😁
“Last keys I would reach for” … says it all really. Thanks for the honesty. Never doubted it. Good decision all round.
Great video James and there is no need to apologise whatsoever, as I think you’ve made a very sensible decision. Admire your honesty as always 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Swapped it for a Micro! What a great story. Get rid it if it is a bad car. wish I had done that with my race car before I put too much money in it. Car has not been on track this year. Effing car!
No apologies required
Mate, you’ve done exactly what we all do, love them one minute, hate it the next. The beauty of the InfluEnzo is that it’s never fixed enough to allow me to sell it!!
And never will be lol
Abz no point living with a car you don’t like - totes waste a time n money. We’ve all done it at some point.
That's why they say "Don't make promises in a moment of peak joy"
Yay, Micra content. :)
When are we going to see the GT4 again?
Agreed, more GT4!
Totally cool man, I appreciate your honesty. I think a lot of car enthusiasts have been in a similar position where the car you thought you wanted just doesn’t work out.
Cheap as chips runabout > expensive car
Everyone knows the joys and ease of cheap motors
I say that with confidence since I crashed my first 2 cheap cars ☺
My current car (981CS) has an aircon issue so that's probably £1500 for the condensers sadly...although to be fair it's gained nearly £5k in the 9 months I've owned it.
aye I never thought about that, sounds alot like frame damage too doesnt it
I think you're right. Seemed a bit bad to the core. Hopefully not for the sake of the new owner...
Im telling Pistonheads about this
Please do, bring some views. I'll need it to pay for the next one!
Some guys enjoy the projects. But when the projects are over the thrill is gone so the next step is sell it and start a new project.
It's a great feeling to offload a bottomless money pit.... What year is the Micra? ; )
I hope it's a first gen. But probably will be a second gen K11
Sold to Hoovies.....
Hopefully it's the 89 March racing car featured in some of the recent Gran Turismo games (it's a rocket! 🚀), but probably not 😁🤘 .
@@tanner1ie yeah the freaking Super Turbo would be sweet.
Do all Gallardos have issues or was the problens just with your one?
Which Micra? Why do so many like the K11? What makes it so special?
Need a full on review of the micra, not just driving, but storage, practicality etc.
If it's a proper shed, then do a couple of videos of putting it through its paces!
We all appreciate your honesty James, your channel has been built on integrity. No hard feelings here. 👍 Looking forward to the reveal of the replacement. P.S. Fill the Micra with fireworks and set fire to it???
No need to be so apologetic. It's fine honestly. Just do what makes you happy
We'll miss seeing the Gallardo with the "colourful" history but it sounds like a solid decision. Also, those roads look awfully familiar :-)
Was just about to say! Is this Crow Road through the Campsies outside Glasgow?
I was thinking the same thing. I'm a kirky boy, those roads look very familiar to me. 🤔
I agree with this. But I would love an old 5 series but tastefully resto modded with lottery money
Thanks J, never feels right to sink more money into something you don't enjoy, & no guarantee it will work.
Buyer is maybe exactly the right person to take it on, if so, then win-win.
Enjoy the Micra!
You should ALWAYS be honest James especially to yourself. Cheers
And yes for micra content.
That's a video title and a half.
Right, watched it through now. I'm sorry it wasn't the car for you but glad you got a good outcome. That you maintain your integrity towards your viewers is important too of course, but glad to see some responsible financial management on car youtube! For your sake, not ours.
Again, good on you. Anyone who has a problem with this isn’t worth concerning yourself with.
Maybe you will be able to buy it back in a year's time? like the 130i
Absolutely no need to explain yourself, perfectly legitimate reason to sell - happily without being too much out of pocket!
Yes please, I'd like to see a Micra review, should be a laugh.
Seems like you've gone backwards since the Evora. Good luck in finding another driver's car that ticks all your boxes.
Absolute respect to you for your transparency and consideration to your audience. I do think you did the right thing.
Can I be the only nerd itching to know which model Micra??
I learnt to drive in a Micra. My instructor had the original boxy K10. My only Micra experience.
Forget about selling the Galliardo - what I NEED to understand, given your usually impeccable continuity, is the unexplained switching between a white and a blue Galliardo from the beginning!!
I expect an immediate resolution within the next three minutes, James!!!
Thank you!! What a relief!
I want to see you put 50k into that Micra to be honest
Being blunt, I'm stunned you've felt the need to explain it. This is your money, car and your well being.
As I've heard others say "I've paid for it and I'll do what I want with it".
Keen to see the replacement. 👍
JayEmm, you owe us nothing. We want petrol heads to be happy. And you're a cool chap.
As others have said, your money, your choice. If you don’t like it you have the right to do whatever pleases you. At least you owned a Lamborghini for a while (half a year still counts) and you can tick one thing off the bucket list.
Best thing you could have done
So new shocks and new seats would probably fix it? I would have tried it if it was a convertible manual! Anyways I think the easy fix would be just replacing it with a better one without all the mechanical issues and maybe just changing the seats!
I unsubbed a while back but you got me this time, I had to see what was going on :D
Haha always good to have a repeat customer
@@JayEmmOnCars I feel there's a joke somewhere in there about prostitution...

Come again🤔
@@TonyRule ah we all love a happy ending
I’ve done the opposite and stuck with a car that I should have gotten out off, but you have confronted and delay with the issue, well done and now you can focus on the next car which of course we will all follow as you have proven your openness to the community that follow you
get a noble m12..no one on UA-cam has a noble m12. 50k gets you a nice one, 60k gets you into an m400
Interesting option! I suspect jay will be seeing lotus memories with the potential for cottage industry faff (love/loathe), if he tried a noble.
Why don't you raffle it like the rest of the you tubers :)
the winner recieves a knackered old lambo and some crippling debt

We do want to see and hear about that micra. Thank you for asking :) no worries about that lambo, if you'd proceed with your plan just because you promised, we'd figure that out sooner or later
Don't become That Kind of UA-cam please
He sold it because he didn’t like it. If he was a proper UA-camr, he would have made a load of video’s on it and absolutely milked it for everything and then sold it
You do have you have to do. I've spent 8 years restoring my current toy and now that its driving and looking good I feel slightle 'done' with it too but because of the friends I've made during the restoration I feel a little guilty about thinking of putting it up for sale. Another reason for selling is that I seem to have contracted a disease, Jag-itus, type F. The only cure must surely be to own one?
