Regarding the colour. Years ago we bought a new Reliant Scimitar . We specified the colour to be Burgundy with tan upholstery. After a few months we noticed that the paint around the drivers door edges was rubbing off to reveal white paint underneath. The factory had taken a car already painted white and repainted it burgundy in order to fulfill our order, instead of building a new car to our colour specification, presumably because as a low volume production model, this was financially better for the manufacturer. Probably the same thing occurred with your car!
Blue / Red issue... Back in the 90's I had the EXACT same issue with a Blue ford Escort, Did due diligence, HPI check etc, came back clean so I bought the car (from a dealer), several weeks later when pulling a trim panel out in the boot I saw red paint, Like you I was thinking of all possibilities, respray, primer accident repair etc, but again like you we were finding red paint everywhere. internally but all the doors / boot / bonnet had no sign of red paint. Eventually I was so concerned I contacted the vehicle crime unit of my local police station and voluntarily handed them the car to strip. What they found was shocking.... the shell was that of stolen red J reg escort which had the vin from a blue K reg escort stuck down over the top of the J reg vin so at a quick look there was no evidence of tampering with the vin, then all parts from the K reg fitted to the shell. After lots of investigation it was found the original K reg had been badly damaged but with no insurance claim hence not showing on HPI, then rebuilt using the stolen shell. Thankfully as I bought on finance from a dealer I was able to hand the car back !

“Fast Cnut” 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
Ho ! The car had a busy life. The blue is sublime ! And not common on super cars and Lamborghini. I’m jealous of how many companies in the UK can help you refurbish parts instead of replacing them (I don’t think there is a quarter of them in France, but I hope I’m wrong). Keep doing great work and thank you for the mechanic for taking us through the car.
Oh, Hoovie dropped a new vid... wait, what?
I thought something similar!
This is not Kansas :)
best videos on youtube for car nutters,
keep up the good work !
Thanks!
Note to self: it's always risky to buy a car where the expert inspecting it says "What on earth were they thinking?" a lot! 😂🤣
Aldous seems to be a good guy. Most of the issues seem to be simple jobs, I think you got away lightly with it.
If the vents are superglued shut try using a super glue softener/remover then clean them up 👍🏼👌🏼
Maybe It's a Red Ringer?
😬
That would explain the paint
My black MG ZS mk2 has a green undercoat. You can see it in some places too but apparently this is quite normal.
See, this is all people want, the feeling of trust in a garage and their mechanics, brilliant stuff. ( Could have wired up the reverse though but there must be a reason).
I couldn’t take my eyes off that Aston Martin DB7 in the background. I was thinking that the Lambo is just a sporty Audi, but even if the Aston is a sporty Jag, I’d rather cruise in that.
The Aston parked next to the Lambo is a Vanquish, not a DB7.
He seems like a real genuine guy.
Got to admit the first time I saw the red paint showing through underneath the Blue paint I thought it looked like red primer
The blue colour is great, if I was to ever have one of these, this shade would be my second or third choice. I love it when Lamborghinis are NOT yellow (and Ferraris not red 😜)
Does the label with paint codes on (under bonnet lid - not sure on Lamborghini but common VWA location) have primer code? I think you’re right that it’s red primer.
Great video, I can testify to the Audi parts prices, went I had an A6 Avant I had to replace the same brake light, what a rip off! 😆
I agree the colour is very nice! Congrats on the car, i look forwaed to more content on it!
Usually skip adverts. But something tells me you're gonna need my tiny advert watching contribution
Very much appreciated
Carly is the best thing I’ve bought for diagnosing and modding my track day car.
Interesting. i looked at it recently having seen Samcrac advertise it but the reviews werent that spectacular.
@@DrEmilSchaffhausenThe3rd I wouldn’t be without it now tbh, it does so much, has saved me loads of money and I don’t need to go to the dealer/Indy anymore. I use it on friends/family cars also.
Red is a primary color of blue, it would stand to reason they used red as a primer so they would use less blue when spraying.
Re the colour mystery, it probably two cars glued together👍🤪
Looks like it could be red oxide primer, but most manufacturers grey primer for majority of colours and for those other colour they will use white primer. unless it’s a BC3CT colour.
Slick presentation, great car. Thoroughly enjoyed your mans review / descriptions of what all is "in need" in delicious detail. Looking forward to more on this. Cheers!
You can tell he hates that car and wishes he would never see it again. 😂
this video is like our equivalent of a Hoovie's garage video, loved it!
Aldous seems like one of those cool guys.
wish my mechanic was as thorough as this guy..takes decades of experience to do what he can do....hey Jay encourage him to do his own channel on the mechanics side of things
This channel just gets better every upload. This is gonna be great content for his channel. Couple of things though.. I can't believe how bad this car has been treated such a shame... Defo in safe hands now this garage is legit.
The British Hoovie / Car Wizard?
I’ve got allot of love for this car
I’m looking forward to seeing it come together
Respect! You're a better man than I am, fixen up a sort of neglected Lambo... Not the kind of car you will find a new door mirror for in the local scrapyard...
Now this a genuine craftsman. Not here to scam or rip people off; no, he is here to share his skill and craftsmanship to bring super cars to the working class 👍
I love the comment "Apart from that she's a minter !! " :)
Hoovie might have something to say about cheapest.
You are a brave man to have ever gone near this car, Jay.
Love the DB7 (EDIT: it's a Vanquish, thanks Mark!) in the background!
Looks like a v12 vanquish to me
Just seen better angle, def a vanquish
@@markgtrheyes
You're right - thank you!
When you buy an old car, you need to be ready for lots of issues to keep it running. The more exotic, usually the more problems.
the bluemerang is quite a wholesome name, love your work :)
Always amazes me the lack of care that some owners put into their cars
