@@lummflower Indeed. I did not do the "sinister road" but the "normal". My approval was not exceptionnal just high or very high, and when the hug scene appeared, he did not say those lines. It's slightly different but not this emotional.
@@auginetic True. I play a kind character for the most part and I have a very high approval with Astarion because I let him drink my blood every night, took him with me for the parts that matter (hunter, Arja), and otherwise left him in the camp throughout most of Act 1 and first half of Act 2 to avoid disapproval when being kind and helpful. This way I was able to romance him and get him to a high approval. From around mid-Act 2, his approval got very high, so now I always take him with me and so far I haven't had any disapproval from him.
I didnt realise you get a slightly altered confession from him if you speak to a certain npc. I've only had that version, nice to see what this one is like.
@brookewiththehair4884 She's called Araj and she's in Moonrise towers. If you talk to her and choose certain options, you get Astarions confession but the starting dialogue is changed!
I think this confession happens after/at the end of Act 2 - whereas the Araj one happens immediately after speaking to her. I agree, after listening to them both I definitely prefer this one! @@Mamzellesim
@@ChamomileRain Thank you, I will start a new tav and trying to have that one, cuz I really want to have it! Romance him without talkin to Araj (I don't know you, but I really don't like that b... eh Drow... that drow...)
I got this scene by coincidence during my first run cuz I HAD NO IDEA about the drow woman and I also didn't know that we could actually go inside freely before the battle. Jesus, I was pretty surprised when he came to me to talk. This man's a gem.
I wish there was a way to dig deeper into the fact he was using Tav before he caught feelings while still ending up with him, I know there's the dialogue option they picked but I wish you could push back at him more for it and ask for a relationship built on trust and honesty
There is not much else to talk about that, he did what he did because it was his instincts, and just how he said “i dont know how to be with someone” the point here is that you understand how hard it is for him to just simply exist in a relationship without cazador influence making him lure people and stuff, you have to accept him and forgive his actions because of trauma or you also have the right to not forgive him and he will understand either way
The a bit deeper dive there will come in the ending of his arch, he will evaluate again on the evolution of his feelings. Also many things who give more insights about his feelings lie in some bad things one can say to him (e.g. if one breaks up with him in Act 3 before going to Cazador).
Ive been trying to romance Gale for a couple of days now, just to see how the story plays out. Needless to say, it didn’t happen. It was over when Astarion says; “Of course it’ll turn me into a monster, what else did I expect,” it’s such a foreshadowing phrase, and there’s so much pain behind it. I can’t romance anyone else.
I'd love to get exactly that scene but I only ever got it after protecting him from that drow who wants to get bitten and the conversation starts off differently then 😭
@@jadiennox1412 do you happen to remember where? ive been snooping around in isobel's room since i heard someone say they got it there but i couldn't find it
Okay so I'm really really distracted by that super cute casual outfit you have and I need to know where you got it. this scene is beautiful also but your JACKET.
When you tried to romance him, you would find that Astarion is extremely picky. You could've at least be very higher approval to actually be able to romance him. He literally need to lose his conscience in order to be able to 'play around' with other people, because he is the type who value intimacy and only set it aside for survival. Even with that in mind, he'd rather breakup with you if you don't get to his standart. If he just wanted to use you, he probably just scoff it off but he actually chose his heart over you. So you could see that his heart play a big role in making decision to choose you by his side. In no way that he's not going to fall in love with you along the way. Everytime you breakup with him, he broke. What amaze me in his character is even as Ascended Astarion, he wasn't into a multiple relationship. That was not Cazador-like behaviour, full vampire who's supposedly treated as 'king' who probably could enjoy having fun with hundreds of people. As mad as asc Astarion, he still rather be with you than anyone else. What even confusing is that full vampire doesn't like competitor, but in Dark Urge ending he's just like, "Claimed your throne darling." That goes to show how much you truly mattered to him. Edit. Which I think that was an ascended brain move, considering that Asc Astarion got mind controlled after. 😂

@spoopy551 there's 2 different confessions. 1. Very High approval in act 2, long rest to get this confession. 2. High approval in act 2, meet the drow and don't force Astarion to bite her. Long rest afterwards
I got a different scene from this but I experimented and how I got this one instead was didn't talk to the drow who wants him to bite her in Moonrise. I killed her and slept and this one came up instead of the alternate one I got. I like them both but this one feels more rewarding!
@@TOchickwell, because of the STUPID HOTFIX. I think I might as well try this. I think it would only roll me back an extra hour if we do end up losing our saves. Larion only said the rollback prevents the save use, and kind of implied the saves would come back after fixing the hotfix they removed
I avoided watching this when it came up on my suggestions, since I was trying to romance Astarion and didn't want spoilers... but... I seem to have shot myself in the foot by *not* sleeping with him early on. I've just started Act 3, my approval is very good, but he's made not the slightest move on my character at all. It seems as though I'm never going to see any of the romance storyline, he's just a good friend...
He actually appreciates having a friend as there’s that option to tell him “maybe you need a friend, not a lover” but it’s only available when you did sleep with him at the beginning, which makes sense. “unfortunately” you have to let yourself be seduced and sleep with him as that’s the way he starts catching feelings towards you.
Yeah, I fully intended to romance him, but on my first playthrough I accidentally completely missed the big checkpoints for getting his romance plotline by not long resting enough in Act 1. By doing that, I didn't get the cutscenes where I could get his approval high enough before the tiefling party, so he rejected me. I thought maybe there'd be an alternate way to start the romance in Act 2, but apparently not! I raised my approval pretty high with him after that point, but any cutscenes I got continued to have zero options that seemed obviously romantic and eventually I got just a strictly platonic version of this scene. Withers even had a chat with me in camp to weirdly ask why I wasn't romancing anyone, and I was like DUDE I AM TRYING. I guess you really HAVE to sleep with him at the party or nothing else triggers.
@@isxaxrealxgirl yes, with Astarion all the talking and long resting needs to be frequent in act 1. that’s why his romance is so special because without player’s active interest it doesn’t happen at all. and when it does, it starts with a completely different intent from his side compared to other companions. what I personally really appreciated in the storytelling is that Astarion uses sex the only way he knows how and then when he starts having real feelings he doesn’t want to do it till he’s ready.. which is pretty much at the very end of the game. beautifully done by Larian. I’m willing to pay them whatever the cost to make Astarion focused DLC or a full game with only him because I just don’t wanna let go of such amazing character that he is. side note: you can trigger the romance scene in the forrest even before finishing the Grove. when it happened for me I was utterly shocked. I already found out he was a vampire at that point and we met Gandrel. Oh man, the Withers talk. He's like "Why do you not have a partner?" and despite Gale and Shadowheart both thinking I'm marvellous, and Astarion's approval being very high I had to say "I guess no-one likes me enough"!! So a month later, and a second playthrough with a cleric with a dodgy background later, and I kind of, sort of, got to this point with Astarion... but I'm a bit puzzled. I didn't get nearly as much dialogue, and none of the real description of how he felt at the beginning. Instead it came after the situation with the drow, and *that* was why he triggered the talk with me, and then from there it segued into the 'I care about you' options, and from there to the end. I feel like I missed something somewhere? Or rushed something? Or maybe didn't have my approval high enough? Anyway, le sigh. Wish I hadn't missed it. :(
No no, you missed nothing. Unfortunatly, If you talk to the Drow you just get that confession instead of this one. A bit of a bummer, but both are good and have the same outcome
@@LittlePinchofGingeryou can get a confession even after talking to the drow. If you ask him why he slept with you, he will tell you that he did it for protection, but imagine how stupid he felt when he started to fall for you. And then from there the conversation is the same as this one.

@@Lunakitty1234 You can get this scene after you killed Orthon for Raphael in order for him to read the scars on Astarion's back. You take a long rest then you'll get the confession. For the drow confession, all you need is to side with Astarion to not drink Araj's tainted blood, that's for a quicker love confession.
Please help, how do I get this scene? Is it a requirement to have exceptional approval? I’m in act 2 with very high approval. Are there any requirements to get this scene?
Does anyone know if the dialogue is any different if you where dating someone but left them for Astarion? Id love if their was an option that was something like ‘I left something real for you.. and your telling me this was a lie the whole time?” And then if you choice to leave Astarion you can try to get back together with your other partner.
I'm not sure the other characters would still want you back after you dumped them for Astarion once. I think Shadowheart has a dialogue at the tiefling victory party about not wanting someone else's sloppy seconds if you try to flirt with her after you've already arranged something with someone else, and that's only about one night. Even Halsin would think twice if you completely broke up with him and then later came back with your tail between your legs (if it weren't that Halsin doesn't require you to break up with the others to be with him)
I am only in act 1 and the way he pretended to not know how my char died after sucking him dry as well as offering sex as a "reward" for being a "good package" did give the impression it was just a fling... BUT! Outside of that he really behaves like he cares. We do mischief together, surprise an oger and a bugbear in a barn together, fight side by side AND when one goes down, the other screams in panic over their loss. I always let Astarion revive my char when hes down and vice versa and it just feels RIGHT. Gameplay wise, Astarion is 100% a cinnamon roll and I refuse to think he hasnt fallen for my sweet high elf dragonblood sorcerer boy yet! 😂
I actually think if you get his approval up, he does start to like you fairly early on. He just isn't very self-aware about it, and he still doesn't know how to trust you, so he keeps his guard up and falls back on his old habits of using sex as a survival weapon. It's not until you really prove that you value him as a person that he finally lets you in for real. I think a lot about the scene where you draw his scars for him --- and how at the end, you can promise him that you'll figure it out together. For a second, he looks surprised, and then extremely guarded/unsure as he replies, "How... sweet." Because he appreciates the gesture, but words don't mean anything to him. Since he became a vampire he hasn't had a single person look out for him or do him any real kindness for nothing in return. And it's quite tragic. I think that's a big part of why he disapproves of any altruistic acts and approves of cruel ones in the beginning --- he's just incredibly bitter and doesn't believe in people.
I got the.. i love you, i love this, i want it all sceen but not this so im confused to if my character and astarion are "together" [ im in act 3 and just killed cazador]

He's so damaged.. I got this too, and I was thinking this is like a co dependency relationship.. or being with a master manipulator.. whatever it is, it's definitely not real love.. sorry, lol.. but then again, this is just a game, no?.. so I just play along.. Gale is still hung up on Mystra, Wyll is meant to be with Karlach plus he has horns.. that's such a turn off.. next one I will ignore Karlach so Wyll won't have horns.. perhaps romancing him would be more fulfilling..
It _doesn't._ Not at ALL, not even remotely. Sounds like a you problem tbh.. Coz, hundreds of thousands of us Astarion girlies, AND the 'leg hook', say different.. (iykyk 😉) edit: Also - his romance scenes (in the ones that had another person there for the mo-cap) were literally all filmed with Astarions body actor, and a WOMAN. Sooo, there's that. 🤷🏻♀️ edit 2: One last point I just realized: Astarion's actor himself played the game, and he _chose_ to romance Astarion with a _*FEMALE*._ So with all due respect - that's your opinion proved utterly false by the man himself right there lol.

@@lummflowernah you don't, you just need to be sassy and stop playing a self-sacrificing hero. Also Astarion is more likely to say no if you proposition him than vice versa, you actually can romance him at "normal" approval
True but being sinister gives you extra points!@@auginetic
Saaaaaame I’m too nice, he hates me lmao
i love him so much it makes me STUPID
I loved this scene so much. And I can't wait for it to come a second time
I didnt realise you get a slightly altered confession from him if you speak to a certain npc. I've only had that version, nice to see what this one is like.
Oh please do tell? Which npc and how does it change?
@brookewiththehair4884 She's called Araj and she's in Moonrise towers. If you talk to her and choose certain options, you get Astarions confession but the starting dialogue is changed!
I had After-Araj-Confession too. I felt sad because I thougt the other is less powerful... how did you get this one? This "I feel .... awful" one?
I love him 😭

Why? The romance is only a tiny fraction of what is possible, and even then you can avoid it completely.
It is the part people talk about a lot, but there is amazing story even if you refuse romance with everyone.
the defintion of they fell first he fell harder
Astarion as: I fucked around amd find out
One of the best scenes ever ❤❤❤
Probably one of my favorite scenes in media ever.
Task failed successfully
My petty self would break up with him just because he lied to me 😂
Ive been trying to romance Gale for a couple of days now, just to see how the story plays out. Needless to say, it didn’t happen. It was over when Astarion says; “Of course it’ll turn me into a monster, what else did I expect,” it’s such a foreshadowing phrase, and there’s so much pain behind it. I can’t romance anyone else.
I'd love to get exactly that scene but I only ever got it after protecting him from that drow who wants to get bitten and the conversation starts off differently then 😭
I CANNOT PLAY THIS GAME AND IT'S KILLING ME 😂
I wish this longer dialogue version was the default...
I love you too! Now catch me , as I throw myself into your arms !
what’s he wearing?? looks cute
It’s the Comfortable Ashmeadow Outfit (found in Act 2 I believe)!
Looks a bit Disney tangled flynn Ryder has the same Outfit

@@jadiennox1412 do you happen to remember where? ive been snooping around in isobel's room since i heard someone say they got it there but i couldn't find it
AHHHHH
Okay so I'm really really distracted by that super cute casual outfit you have and I need to know where you got it.
this scene is beautiful also but your JACKET.
It's Road-Dust Gray Clothes, a fairly common drop. Check barrels and crates as you explore, you'll find it eventually
I always wonder how many takes these scenes took to get right.
Me: not having time to play the game....
also me: thanks to YT I can listen all I want to 😜
I killed yugnir, tool around 10 long rest, didn't talked to doctor/medic in towers and still didnt get this diogue :/
Either your approval hasn't meet the threshold. Or you miss some of his early interactions during Act 1. Killing Yugnir isn't needed tho.
@@iantheawe Yeah, I figured it out. This scene triggers after refusing blood alchemist request (astarion to bite her) + i'd blocked all night scenes, because i had two romances, promisted to "talk to other guy" and i forgot about it - it blocked all night scenes, i spend like 10 normalne nights and after talk i had astarion confesion and thousands other talks
As if I wasn't already obsessed with him. 😍 Why can't real men be like Astarion?
I did not ge this scene without Arai :( after killing Yurgir - there was no scenes at all. even when i have the highest approval :(
Did you eventually get it?
@@junipercosmic6841 yes. In my second playthrough of this game I did not take him to Arai, but we kill Yurgir and after this i have got this scene in the camp 😁
How did you get this scene??? I got a very different version (basically said the same things, but it wasn't as sad as this), one that wasn't so heartfelt and raw, after I met the drow in Moonrise Towers and said he was his own person... I feel cheated out of a great scene.
By raising his approval high enough before talking to the drow
@@stallion8426 His approval for me was very high. :(
@spoopy551 the scene happens during a long rest, did you rest enough?
@@stallion8426 I got the scene with him. Just a less emotional one where he confessed in a similar way
@spoopy551 there's 2 different confessions.
1. Very High approval in act 2, long rest to get this confession.
2. High approval in act 2, meet the drow and don't force Astarion to bite her. Long rest afterwards
How did you get this scene??
I got a different scene from this but I experimented and how I got this one instead was didn't talk to the drow who wants him to bite her in Moonrise. I killed her and slept and this one came up instead of the alternate one I got. I like them both but this one feels more rewarding!
@@TOchickTotally! I though maybe I did his quest too late to this to trigger, and I got the drow scene instead
@@TOchickwell, because of the STUPID HOTFIX. I think I might as well try this. I think it would only roll me back an extra hour if we do end up losing our saves. Larion only said the rollback prevents the save use, and kind of implied the saves would come back after fixing the hotfix they removed
I had this scene even before meeting the drow, on my way to the temple of Shar! I don't know how, but I'm so happy 😂
I almost choked as right after we killed him I clicked on Astarion expecting a reaction like ‘so that’s done’ but instead he floors me with ‘darling, I was just thinking about you..’ which led to the romance scene 😂 like way to pick the right moment to seduce me, man 😂
Oh man, the Withers talk. He's like "Why do you not have a partner?" and despite Gale and Shadowheart both thinking I'm marvellous, and Astarion's approval being very high I had to say "I guess no-one likes me enough"!!
"And thus you are alone." says Withers.
THANK YOU WITHERS, I NEEDED THAT.@@isxaxrealxgirl
@@alderdash2469 you cannot please that skeleton one way or the other though 😂 because if you do romance someone, he shades you for enjoying the pleasures of flesh (somebody is jealous, I guess) 😂
WHY DOES HE SOUND LIKE TOM ELLIS AS LUCIFER MORNINGSTAR?????! 😂😂😂😂❤❤
See? I thought the same! I was told it isn’t him though. 😂
Tom Ellis?
This is what I thought too lmaoooo
🤨 Other than them both having (slightly posh) English accents, they sound _nothing_ alike. Especially in cadence and tone.
My scene played out differently though? He started with „I’m sorry” line and talked about Araj and not his seduction masterplan. Is this scene simply an alternative before Araj encounter or what’s the difference?
@@sionan7937 I have now tried both scenes and the way he says it - both tone and the words he chooses to describe it, are quite different. The "natural" confession is definetly more emotional, from my viewpoint

How do you get that scene? Can somebody help me get it? Or tell me how to get it?
hey!! You get this cutscene by having high approval with him in act 2 after getting to moonrise towers iirc and long resting. BUT you have to NOT talk to the drow alchemist in the tower or you’ll get that version of the confession.

How do you get this one? Wat triggers it? I’ve already Started exploring the temple of shar but my sister said when I get to moonrise everyone will be hostile. Not sure if I should continue or go to an earlier save. What triggers this please
Is it in act 2?
Please help, how do I get this scene? Is it a requirement to have exceptional approval? I’m in act 2 with very high approval. Are there any requirements to get this scene?
It says in the description of the video
I think when you play as a male the dialog is difrent
Does anyone know if the dialogue is any different if you where dating someone but left them for Astarion? Id love if their was an option that was something like ‘I left something real for you.. and your telling me this was a lie the whole time?” And then if you choice to leave Astarion you can try to get back together with your other partner.
I dumped Wyll for Astarion and the dialogue doesn't change at all, though that would have been a nice touch
I got the.. i love you, i love this, i want it all sceen but not this so im confused to if my character and astarion are "together" [ im in act 3 and just killed cazador]
how did it go? i didn’t get this scene either and am about to go into act 3 i think. i heard people saying you can’t romance him if you don’t get one of the confession scenes, i think this one and one after talking to the drow in moonrise.
"i love you, i love this" is like denouement of his romance. maybe you got "the drow confession" instead of this one?
Hahaha omg that’s so funny
He's so damaged.. I got this too, and I was thinking this is like a co dependency relationship.. or being with a master manipulator.. whatever it is, it's definitely not real love.. sorry, lol.. but then again, this is just a game, no?.. so I just play along.. Gale is still hung up on Mystra, Wyll is meant to be with Karlach plus he has horns.. that's such a turn off.. next one I will ignore Karlach so Wyll won't have horns.. perhaps romancing him would be more fulfilling..
Why does it feel wrong to romance him as a female pc? :(
It _doesn't._ Not at ALL, not even remotely. Sounds like a you problem tbh.. Coz, hundreds of thousands of us Astarion girlies, AND the 'leg hook', say different.. (iykyk 😉)
edit: Also - his romance scenes (in the ones that had another person there for the mo-cap) were literally all filmed with Astarions body actor, and a WOMAN. Sooo, there's that. 🤷🏻♀️
edit 2: One last point I just realized: Astarion's actor himself played the game, and he _chose_ to romance Astarion with a _*FEMALE*._ So with all due respect - that's your opinion proved utterly false by the man himself right there lol.
Late response and not to be rude or anything, but that sounds like a you thing.
