    I did my test with AncestryDNA. On 'National DNA Day' (April 25th) this year (2018) 23 and Me offered free analysis of AncestryDNA tests. I uploaded my raw results to their site and got the ethnic info, and a little bit of health info. For connection info to relatives, which they teased by telling me how many and where, or more health info, I have to pay and take their test. Both of my parents, my uncle, and paternal grandmother used FamilyTreeDNA (FTDNA) , and my grandmother and uncle took the MTdna through FTDNA. My uncle also did the Y-DNA111 test though FTDNA. I have the results and access to all these and upload the results in Myheritage and GEDMATCH.

      I'm almost ready to order the My Heritage Kit... but I decided to wait and do a little more research before buying, I'm still unsure which one to purchase.

    Hello, I have one question that I would like to be answered by you. Is it possible that there is a relationship between ( J -FTB ) and ( E - FTA )

    Well, some were secretly adopted in the 17, 18 ,19, even 20th centuries!
    So the more people that get tested in your family, the better???😯

    Hi! I have heard here recently that 23&Me has not been recommended for health reasons. I cannot tell you exactly who I've heard that from although it was on UA-cam with some genealogical experts.

    • @kathnews
      @kathnews 7 років тому +2

      It's just that they are not allowed to give health predictions based on your DNA or your feedback. It has nothing to do with harming your health.

    • @deckocards6988
      @deckocards6988 7 років тому

      No, sorry about the misunderstanding. I had heard that 23&Me, which has advertised that they can give you--based on your DNA--health predictions? It hasn't been advertised as genealogical DNA source. I wasn't referring to harming anyone's health.

      You should watch the video it's very informative and it clearly states 23&Me is a genealogical DNA source.

    They also ask for names... your family tree. I was wondering if they go only by DNA or do they use last names to link people? I’M suspicious about that.

    I took Family Tree DNA y test in 2008, and only recently did I get a partial "match" for someone I may or may not be related to anywhere from 4 to 10 generations.On the other hand, my maternal grandmother was adopted, and we have no idea who her biological parents are. My mother, who is 96 years old, is still living. Would an ancestry DNA test be the best way to go to find out about the ethnic origins and possible relatives for her?

      You better get her tested soon. Once she's gone it's too late. Ancestry has the largest database with many family tree hints. I would test her with Ancestry and you can download her raw dna and upload to My Heritage for free for the possibility of more genetic matches. Ancestry regularly has sales for $69.

      My 1st cousin was born out of wedlock. She was adopted by her maternal grandparents. She learned she was adopted but no one would tell her who her father was. All her life she has wondered about her paternal beginnings; she is now 62. We both had our DNA tested through Ancestry. We compared our matches, eliminated the common matches, and began looking at her matches. Among those matches, we were able to connect with a cousin who helped us pin down the biological family and we narrowed it down to one of two brothers. Her birth mother is still living, so we confronted her with the information we had and she identified the one who was her child's biological father. He's dead now and only has 2 children living who have refused to acknowledge their half-sister, but she has been welcomed warmly by other cousins in the family. I have also help another find his biological father and another find her paternal biological branch of the tree, although we haven't been able to completely confirm just yet. Using Ancestry results, we've accomplished our purpose and more,

      Greg, also upload your DNA raw data to other testing sites and to GEDmatch.com. The matches at each site will only match others who tested at the same site unless people from other testing sites upload their results to sites other than the ones they tested at. I tested at Ancestry and have uploaded my results to My Family Tree and My Heritage as well as GEDmatch.

    I recently used FamilyTreeDNA with my mother. They had her about half Western Europe, but we're pretty sure that half is really British Isles, especially because all of our surnames are Emglish.
    They then had her Lebanese coming mostly from Turkey. I guess that's a possibility that her father's ancestors were recent arrivals but their names are very Arab, not Turkish. It just doesn't pass the smell test.

    GeneAlogy - NOT geneOlogy. Or is it simply U.S. pronunciation?
