I mean, I’d say there is more to painting nails like a pro then just that. Ex: How to get close to the cuticle and sidewalls without touching them. How to polish without it getting thick and clumpy. How long to wait between coats. How to float a topcoat. How to prep the nails so the manicure is flawless. These are tips are beginner level not pro level. IMO as a nail professional.
@@AmandaLovesOldFords basically you don’t touch the nails with the brush. You just use it to guide the product. Usually done to avoid dragging nail art, pigments, ect.
@@jeeninn8277 the longer you can wait the better the out come. Obviously it depends on the polish and how fast it dries, but I would say after you’re finished the first coat on all 10 Wait another 15 mins before starting the second coat. Same when your applying topcoat. If you do any art, I would wait at least 30 mins before tip coating.
Take fish oil , I started taking it and noticed my nails were way stronger and can grow long now , they would always break before. I was like hmm I wonder what’s changed the only thing is fish oil, I read the bottle and it says it supports healthy heart, joint, and SKIN! Which is nails. I hate paying to get my nails done bc most nail techs suck badddd , they always make it too bulky and misshaped, I like the look of natural nails.
I'm sure you've found an answer to this question by now, but in case someone else runs across this, Sally Hansen has a (very cheap, I am broke LOL) base / top coat that functions like this. I got it on Amazon for like a little over $1
What type of base coat and top coat combo are are you using? Mine is intact with no chips for at least a week, then good enough for 1.5 with some edge wear (no chips). I recently took off my last polish and there were 4 intact nails after 2 weeks. the others weren't too badly chipped either (In fact I was the one that picked at some). Make sure you're removing your cuticle (please don't cut your proximal nail fold), cuticle is on the nail, almost transparent and when it lifts the polish will start chipping from the bottom. I use a sticky basecoat (like Orly bonder, just search sticky basecoat there are lots) and I use Essie gel setter as a topper. My polish used to chip so badly when I didn't use all of these rendering the hobby annoying, but now that it lasts long, always keeping my nails painted is worth it and fun.
Obv when one has nice nails theyre gonna be easy to paint🥲 I have very short, flat, broad and fragile nails and work as a carpenter... I can only dream of having nice nails like these 😔
Nope. If you look closely, its clesely called top coat and base coat. They are both however from the same brand, the reason why you got confised if they were the same
What they don’t tell you is yes, apply it thin, but make sure you have enough on the brush. This will eliminate bald spots and give you an even thin layer. It took me over a YEAR to realize I just wasn’t picking up enough product on my brush. Also, OPI is the worst regular polish to apply. Thin, streaky, and not pigmented.

What does it mean to "float" a topcoat?

@@TonjaWattsgurl, what manicurists or dyi person is waiting 15 MINUTES between coats?? 😂😂
Start in the middle then fill in the sides learned that in a magazine it allows for better control of the polish
So much confidence in the movement
That’s such a beautiful color, gives me cold winter vibes 🥰
You make this look too ridiculously easy & your hands and nails are so beautiful 😊
