I wish they would stop trying to push and force Rey as a Skywalker. Should've made her a Skywalker from the beginning. That wouldn't have been good either, but it would be better than forcing her down our throats as a Skywalker
I’m more than 90% convinced that Kathleen Kennedy knows where bodies are buried because I don’t know how she’s still managed to maintain her position when most of her career as the head of Lucasfilm has been noted for failure after failure with very few successes. Sure you can defend the fact that the sequel trilogy made profit and that Star Wars was the main reason as to why Disney Plus had a successful launch but other than that it’s all been failure.

I wouldn't mind a Rey movie if it was about setting up a new Jedi order or maybe about her falling into the Dark Side. But, with how Disney has been lately, it will just be the same old story in a new shinier package.
This is SUCH A BAD IDEA. Like... i gave Kathleen a lot of rope this whole time but SW has been a cluster F nearly the ENTIRE RUN. So many canceled and reshot movies. And content that doesnt make a fandom happy.

This might somehow do even worse than the sequel trilogy in terms of reception
They should create a new trilogy. New ideas, new characters, new time period. NO LEGACY characters. A fresh start where new people can jump on board. With the right story they could please the divided fans and bring new ones into the franchise. You aren't going to get anybody new to come see a film that has an episode 10 in the title. They are shrinking their own fan base.
Honestly Rey isn’t that bad of a character I think the issue is that we all expected her to be this big new hero and be related to someone we wanted but in reality it was the way she was written they clearly didn’t know what they wanted from the main protagonist and for the last movie they linked her to someone who really doesn’t make any sense. I think if they focus less on past and start a brand new story like they should’ve last time then this will have a chance to be great. I’m staying optimistic I really want my old Star Wars back
One big issue was the fact they were trying to make her story reminiscent of Luke:
Young orphan living in a desert planet. Which was just one aspect of Disney redoing the entire Original Trilogy formula.

Star Wars Episode X: The Force ReAwakens
I feel like my experience with the new trilogy is indicative of many former Star Wars fans. I grew up loving the originals and thoroughly enjoyed reading the Thrawn trilogy as a middle school student. I was never a big fan of the prequel trilogy, but I did see all three of them in the theater. I saw The Force Awakens four times in the theater. I was obviously excited to see the The Last Jedi when it was announced and I made plans to see it upon release. After the show was over I remember walking out of the theater trying to rationalize what I just saw. I didn't want to admit that it wasn't very good, but that realization slowly crept in and made me question the lack of continuity between the two movies. I resolved to never see The Rise of Skywalker, and I can sadly attest that I still haven't. The idea that a Star Wars movie exists and I've never watched it, would've seemed inconceivable to a younger me. I just no longer care.
The force awakens was good. The last 2 sucked. Just leave it alone. PALPATINE HAS DIED TWICE. its over guys. What ? A new trilogy...a new villian. Blah blah blah. They should just call it.. The FORCE AWAKENS..AGAIN. LMAO😂
And the nex episode will be titled: "Star Wars Episode XI: Luke Lives"

It should be called Episode X Secret Son and it’s about Han and Leia’s other son who’s a space pirate with a hot space babe girlfriend and kills Rey for thinking she’s a self proclaimed Skywalker

Good God! I seriously can't take the hypocrisy of this fanbase anymore. People hate Star Wars. Yes, there's a very vocal side of the fanbase that hates the majority of things put out. You know who's JUST as guilty? The OTHER side of the fandom. The ones who CONSTANTLY cry over legit criticism and SWEAR that the latest Star Wars product is "the best Star Wars EVER!" No, it's not, nor has it been consistently good in YEARS!! There are CONSTANT problems at Lucasfilm. They would rather throw more gas on this wack ass culture war than self-reflect AND CREATE GOOD STORIES! I literally see the same crap in any comment section any time someone doesn't like something Star Wars. It's been CRAP!
The sequels? Crap. Obi-Wan? Crap. Boba? Crap. Season 3 of Mando? Crap. The Acolyte so far? Crap. But people/Lucasfilm continue to use blanket statements to label anyone that has ANYTHING constructive to say about the franchise. It's ridiculous. Y'all suck just as bad as the grifters. Star Wars can no longer use its name alone to generate buzz. Lucasfilm has diluted it so badly that is has been surpassed by so many other franchises. And nothing is going to change soon because we get the same old excuses and the same old crap. Blame the fans. Right, because EVERY single one is toxic. Just because you like something doesn't mean it's good. I like the prequels, and they're horrible. Have some damned standards ffs.
Yeah couldn't agree more. George Lucas should've never made the prequels and should've kept the original trilogy without episode numbers. That way, it could've lived a much better life as a cult classic film trilogy. (It's what prequel haters would say or think. But man, the 2008 Clone Wars series and rebels were good!)

I’m all about Star Wars moving forward in the timeline, and I think they could correct a lot of the mistakes of the Sequels and do right by the characters. But I don’t know if there should be an Episode X. The last movie was advertised as the final film in the Skywalker Saga, and I think they should stick to that. Just let it be. I’m all for a new beginning, but let it be that.
I think this is a bad idea the main line movies are the perfect opportunity to reset this dying universe. The fan base is just way to divded rn its not even fun to discuss the franchise anymore. Rey's film shouldve been seperate and the new trilogy start with her already leading the new jedi and we focus on a story ouside the skywalker saga

This could be the biggest bomb in Star Wars history. No one cares about Rey.
They had to destroy everything just to start over. Rey will essentially be the head of the school that Luke was supposed to be.
Disney took out the wrecking ball on the originals. They are not going to stop moving forward with this. Luke , Han, and Leia are gone. When Disney bought Star Wars they should have just said all the Lucas movies were no longer canon and just made them legends and just rebooted Star Wars. They have basically lost all of the original trilogy and prequels fans anyway.
I just want them to stop. They keep cheapining all these past characters arcs. SW needs to take a long break and just reboot the whole thing at this point.
It will be at least a decade before the next core SW film. That’s pretty long.

She was just in town filming a new movie, she told us that shes only signed on for one new movie.
I may give this movie a chance. But, only if it has good reviews. They need to get a great director and hire the best writers or I’ll pass.
This will likely have as many issues as the Blade movie. It will go thru 8 directors and 10 different screen writers, before disappearing completely.

Disney could more or less "fix" the Sequel Trilogy without a lot of retcons by making the new Rey movie about her trying to consolidate the different factions of Jedi following the destruction of Luke's New Order. There could be internal disagreements about Rey Skywalker (nee Palpatine) being the true heir to Luke and becoming Grand Master and that story could mirror the real life division over the trilogy itself. Disney could introduce three new characters to setup the franchise for future growth -- one being Ben Skywalker, the son of Rey Skywalker and Ben Solo. The other two characters could just walk-ons at the end of the movie, the twin children of Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade -- Luke and Jaina Skywalker. Both would be about 22 years old if they were born shortly before/ after the destruction of Luke's New Order. That would allow for the Skywalker line to continue and it would at least tie Rey into the Skywalker family in some way, while setting up for the future. Ben II would be about 15 years old at that point. People would still probably hate it, but those three simple additions to the galaxy would setup a lot of future storytelling, including Luke II being a stand-in for his father for many of the great stuff from Legends.
Not going to lie, I was one of the more tolerant Star Wars and Marvel comics fans who tried to be as understanding as possible through the last 6-7 years, but I have experienced so much love loss over both of these favorite properties. I never thought I would get to this particular point of apathy for both.

@EnragedTofu well yes, that too, but I'm saying that even if you thought a divisive film like the Last Jedi was a masterpiece, the negative discourse could discourage you from engaging in future Star Wars content and maybe become apathetic in general towards the franchise

If there's ever a Star Wars film that doesn't need making, it's this one. Even more reason not to watch it if it's part of a new trilogy because we know it's going to be underdeveloped and rushed just like the previous trilogy.

No Matter what you think of the Sequels the Rise of Skywalker was the end of the Skywalker Saga and Yes you can have movies that take place after the Saga ends but it can't have tge title Episode 10 that implies a another edition to the Story and that's a problem since all the real Skywalker's are now dead
In episode 7 & 8 the criticism of the Jedi Oder and the connection between Kylo and Rey left me hoping for the end of the sage finally bringing balance to the force with them not being on the light or dark side but in between… episode 9 threw that hope away but this has the chance to do things right

"May" be. I actually hope that's not the name - just because 'A New Beginning' is such a an obvious, overly vague and general, unimaginative title that obviously calls back to 'A New Hope' (which is also not terribly imaginative).
Unless they give the next Star Wars movie to Tony Gilroy or Christopher Nolan, I am not interested.

Disney believes a director whose credits are made up of middle eastern woman’s rights docs and a few episodes of a Marvel show that got weak ratings is going to save Star Wars. It’ll be interesting to see how this goes, but I’m not watching it.

The thing that we need to keep in mind here is Kathleen Kennedy is not responsible. I don’t know how many times I’ve had to say this. 2000s and thousands of Star Wars fans.. her job is to just make sure that the movie launches without a hitch she is not directing these films she is not writing these films. All she is doing is making sure that once the films are done and wrapped up, they get launched.! There is no need to fire Kathleen Kennedy because she is doing her job it’s everybody else that is not doing their job! And she hast to take the heat for it. Because somebody always has to place the blame.. she may be the head of Lucas film, but that position holds very little power at the end of the day. She basically has to sit back and make sure that the films meet a series of standards that have nothing to do with story or execution. And if those films don’t meet those standards, then we hear about it because somebody messed up somewhere. But that is what her job entails. So now I hope that you read this and are more informed about just what a studio head does..

Meanwhile a studio head does not listen to the all be it toxic SWs community. And makes a really bad episode 3 of a show angers the masses so much but still gets away with it again and again. Cause wow I mean.. never have I found the notifications tab on my phone more interesting then the latest Star wars show. And even if she had nothing to do with the show. It's still her responsibility. She may not be doing the casting or story writing. But she definitely at the very least meets with the show runner or individual directors. And the only way that abmismal ep3 could get out to the public is if she wanted it to or the showrunner spun a totally different narrative. So she may be a great studio head. Just not a great one for a franchise where people know the backstory of ab alien species that had 2 seconds of screen time in a 1970s movie.

Last year star wars celebration didn't announced star wars episodes 10-12. Only nine star wars movies. I hope and pray the rise of Skywalker sequel movie comes to the movie theaters on December 2025 and I really wish I was in that movie. I could be the son of Luke Skywalker.

Force Awakwns was successful due to Lucas era Star Wars hype.
The Last Jedi was popular for a) people hoping it would correct some things in Force Awakens (me) or b) people enjoyed the new story so far...but this was less viewers/hype than Force Awakwns, pre Disney SW.
And Rise of Skywaler got least views of all as people had not enjoyed it so far.
This is a new film, ready for the actual fans of Disney SW to turn out.
Ive enjoyed Rogue One, Mandalorian and Andor but majority of Disney SW has been poorly planned and poorly written and Rey is the epitome of thst. Coukdve been a great character but lazy writing.

Well, I mean, look at Obi-Wan that started out as a rumor. And I know you didn’t like Obi-Wan, but I enjoyed it. And the thing is that started out as a rumor source from some random news site about eight years ago said oh guess what there’s a new Obi-Wan movie coming out. And then another source picked up on it and then another source and another source and eventually Disney said what if we did that? And this literally boiled in the pot for 5+ years before Disney confirmed it. Would it surprise me if that was the title for the next film? No. It’s a good title because it reflects the current state of the Star Wars universe but also it gives the Star Wars fans like me. Hope that maybe we’re going to explore a new path with learning about the old Republic and how a lot of the rules for the Jedi order were established and making new rules. And we all know that rise had a good concept, but it was just executed poorly due to the fact that they were issues behind the scenes. And there are some fans that believe that the sequel trilogy was an executed well at all, even though it got off to a strong start in the box office. I liked the character. I liked her story, especially after reading shadows of the Sith. But the truth of the matter is, we only got just a little bit of what happened to her parents in rise, and the full story was explained in a book, but there are a lot of people that don’t read books that are Star Wars fans so I mean you would almost have to relaunch it anyway for that very reason i’m excited about this. I know many fans are not, but I am.
