You guys just don't know. Living in the 70s was amazing. The radio and music was on everywhere. At home and in the car. There were no cell phones, no internet, no video games, no cable TV and we were happy as hell.
I was a youngster in the 70's and I can relate to your comments. Though we had "Pong" for our video game. We were always listening to music. Cassettes, reel to reel, 8-track or just the radio we always had some device on and enjoying the day. Summer was unbelievable in those days.
Totally agree Jeff!!
It was the best time to be alive! We listened to everything and enjoyed it all. What a beautiful time in life.
Facts Jeff! I wonder what the world would be like if all of those things still didn't exist. Probably happy as hell, because we wouldn't know any better! I thought recording the top 10 count down by placing the microphone on my cassette recorder next to my clock radio speaker, was genius 😅.
Man I wish was there in the 70s
Oh! The memories... I was smiling and grooving with you, guys. What a feel good song!
Same I was getting down on it 😅
The group ,that made anyone, from the young to the young at heart, get up and dance.
just nothing like 70's tunes to make you feel pumped and good all over..... what a great decade for music.
Kool & the Gang is an American R&B/funk band formed in 1964. They had their biggest hits in the 70's-80's such as "Jungle Boogie", "Hollywood Swinging", "Spirit Of The Boogie", "Ladies' Night", "Celebration", "Joanna", "Misled", "Cherish" etc."
Celebration is my favourite song and their best song imo
I swear,I learn so much from the comments section! Thanks for sharing!
@@kathyyore309 Experience counts...no doubt !!
Great band, great dancing music.
I thought it was spelled Mislead? Oops 😖
how many of ya walked into a bar in the 80s and heard this song playing....all the time. there were a lot of "disco" bars back then with dance floors in small town america.
I saw this band live many times in the 1970's. I was in high-school back then. Loved it! Had a blast at the high-school dances playing this song
Awesome
Man this brings back memories. Y'all should do "brick house" bye the Commodores.
I thought the same thing right away.
Yes both of those songs remind me of dancing at the disco! 😂 Great music, great times.
Going to the Roller Rink.
One of my all-time favorite bands. Tight musicianship. JT was an awesome frontman, with his swag and incredible vocal range..
Never fails. Every single person who has listened to this song must have started dancing. The song just does that.
This song is such a vibe. I have loved this song ever since the first time I heard it. I swear I should have been born in the 60s cuz 70s music is 🔥 I love 80s as well. I'm a 80s baby. But still 70s & 80s music is full of bangers.
You were born in the greatest decade of all time
80s is probably the most underrated decade of all time.
I'm a 62 year old white woman and still get down on this! Still love Kool and the gang and all the groups of that era, Earth Wind and Fire, Commodore's, Heatwave, Al B Sure, Ohio Players, Slave, SOS, and so many more!
GREAT line dancing song! ...... Gets everyone involved... ... ... great tune!!
Kool & the Gang opened for Van Halen in 2012 in Dallas. Best concert ever!
The great dance music of the 70s and cool in the gang was one of those groups… Never gets old
Woww, so Kool. How can anybody not dance to this?! I had no choice in the matter my body just started to move lol💃. Thanks for your great reaction. It made me so happy 😀💥💕😘.
One of my favorite songs by them.. still today I have to move to it. Love Kool & the Gang will always be a great band from the good old day's. I'm really miss that time
Wife here..Wore this record out!!..Kool and the Gang were so Cool...Amazing catalog of Great music!! Love Your Reactions!!..So well said you guys..YOU JUST HEAR THIS and LIGHT UP!! ..GETS YOU MOVING!!
You can't go wrong with Kool & The Gang. And I'm glad to see that you two know good music when you hear it. They had so many good songs and one I wish you would check out is "Take My Heart."
Kool & The Gang gave us some of the best roller skatin music🛼💗🛼
Back in 2011, Kool And The Gang opened (50 dates) for Van Halen's 'A Different Kind Of Truth' Tour. It was the ultimate 'hard rock' party band paired up with the ultimate 'pop/funk' party band. 50% of the audience for both of the bands were female.
That is amazing, I didnt know that!! I love them both, how fun
Asia you are so right about the instruments. As an 8 year old in elementary school I went to use the bathroom during class and I was blown away by what I heard.... music from the music class. I stood at the door of the music class and I was mesmerized by the amazing sounds coming fro the students. Mr. Portnoy asked me if I were interested and my appreciation of all music was born. I went on to play trumpet, trombone and sax that Mr. Portnoy taught me. He taught me to read and write music and I will forever be grateful to Mr. Portnoy as that was 55 years ago. Play an instrument and you will learn to appreciate music on a different level.
I'm digging the two of you as reaction hosts! You have no idea how BOMB these guys were live! Back then concert tours would be like five FUNKY bands & the audience would be sweating as much as the performers! Check out Jungle Boogie, it is another jam!
Yes definitely a fam favourite where everyone young & old knew the words AND how to move to this beat!!! It didn't matter where you were at any given time, cos as soon as the music started....we just fell into the groove, just like that!❤ Love how your reactions and comments always make me THINK about the song more than I normally do. And I'm loving & learning so much...Thanks to you both💞💞
Great Great R&B/Funk Band......Just fantastic lyrics....fantastic musicianship......great songs......great energy......Love this Band!!!!
First concert ever was K and the G (at Kings Island).. Kool and roller coasters, great memory.
"LADIES NIGHT" IS THE SH!T...!!! (There's a video with Micheal Jackson jammin' in the front row)
Saw these guys about 8 years ago. One of those groups you forget about but when they play you recognize every song. Great positive energy. Before the concert they had spent whole day with kids from Boy and Girl's club of America,, and the kids were all right there next to stage. When they sang Lady's Night it was a serenade to these girls and everyone went crazy. Very positive experience.
Heavy bass line provided by Robert "Kool" Bell. Love it!
One of Kool and the Gang's best! I last saw them live about 5 or 6 years ago when they played in Vancouver WA at an open park for a summer's end festival. Didn't know that that would be the last time that I could see a couple of their band members, may they rest in peace! If you guys like this tune you will also love "Misled", please do a reaction to it.
Perfect skating tempo & beat, & all so electric slide line dance. When lead singer JT Taylor joined the group, like 1980, it really gave a lift to the band & that played out in the many hits they had in the ‘80’s. 👍🏾
Great band! Misled is a banger for sure.
I was born in 1970 Thank God... I don't remember a time I didn't know ALL this music. Its my life soundtrack
Same!! Kool & The Gang have sooo many dancing/roller skating tunes. So many fun times❣️
YES! Love these 70's ,80's, reactions! Brings back memories 🥰
One of my favorite to dance to at the club as well as just driving around with my girls. Love this ❤️ And yes it was played at BBQ’s too!!
Great party song of '81. Hard to believe I was 24 when it was released.
" Ladies night" (album version 6.26mn) and " Fresh " are other great ones. for those who grew up like me with Kool and the gang, Barry White, Earth wind and fire , Bee gees ......and so many others, we feel like we're going back to that time watching your reactions. 🖐️🇨🇵
Same 🥰
Yeah this one filled the dance floor back in the day.
Check out Hollywood Swinging or Jungle Boogie off of their 1973 album Wild and Peaceful. I still got that album. I got a couple of Funkadelic albums still, Standing On the Verge of Getting It On and Cosmic Slop. Great music !
Kool And the Gang makes you want to move you need to check out The Trammps Disco Inferno if you like great dance songs!
I also love “ladies night” by them or idk if you ever heard of “fresh “from them
Kool and the gang started out as a kind of jazz funk fusion band. They got james (j.t.) taylor later and started making these jams. Check out summer madness and winter sadness, both by kool and the gang
Love love love Kool and the Gang✌️👍🏻🤗
This is what cookouts sounded like before hip-hop.
Man I love their horn section but the funny thing is the drummer is just straight ahead yet all the other instruments for doing all the syncopation to give it that funk
Funk is music perfection! Love your (beautiful) reactions!
I saw them about 3 years ago and they were great! So much fun! Brought back so many memories ❤️
A few years ago I and my female friend attended a Kool and the Gang concert. Visualize this scene. North Central Indiana, Honeywell Center in Wabash, IN. The venue had 1,500 seats and the audience was older predominantly Caucasian people. The group had replacements due to their age, but the band sounded just like the original group. We stood the whole concert and acted like kids again. I was so amazed at the hits I had forgotten about. Wonderful performance!
The only good thing to be said for getting old, is that I lived through this wonderful time for music and really did Get down on it! 🤗 I wouldn't have missed it for the world..... The best of times...xx
Hell yeah, Asia and BJ! Great reaction!!
Oh and, you’re right, Asia! It’s a more complicated song than it sounds. Great composers of music!!
Yeah girl you are right now having all those instruments that is the magic I hope one day of the kids will get back into playing instruments and putting bands together but I don't know all I can do is hope
Guess grandma & grandpa knew what was up Huh!
I grew up in the 60s/70s….and as time goes on I KNOW that our music was the BEST.
whooo! In my day they had REAL MUSICIANS, REAL SINGING, TALENT!
This will get you dance 🕺 💃, Get down on it,🎵🎶🎼🎺🥁🎹🎸🤗❤
My first radio, handheld AM/FM 9volt battery with a 4ft. antenna and the volume always dialed up to 10 when the DJ played these fellas. Ah the good ole days.
This was one of my dance songs. I continue to listen and dance, even byself. Groove music, house cleaning music and picnic song. You have to move thru this song. 💥🫶
Saturday morning car wash in the apartment complex. 12 year old me walking to my buddies house to play ball. This music is timeless 🤘
You have to hear Lady's night it's the song that got me hooked up on Disco music.
The 70’s had the vest dance music!!!!!💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Took my daughter and granddaughter to see Kool & the Gang in Feb. to see them in Vegas. They are still great, there wasn't one person sitting in their seat.
Fun !! 💃 ❤🥳
My first Kool & The Gang album was 1973 " Wild and Peaceful " if you want to check out some of their early stuff. But the Something Special album is fantastic !
I can always count on Asia to JAM!!!🎵💃🎵. But watching BJ go OFF is incredible 🤟. Thank you both for showing love to music I grew up with 💜💜
Watched a lot of your videos. I don't remember seeing one where Asia smiled throughout until now.
Reunions? Hahaha! True, this is on and people start dancing.
this is on my party playlist and gets people on the floor…..awwwwww yeah!!!!
You can't hear Kool and the Gang and not break out in a dance.....get down on it. One of the happiest songs! They make you want to dance!
I saw them in the 70s and I'll never forget it just so much fun
Go back to the 70' and check out "Jungle Boogie", "Funky Stuff", "Hollywood Swinging" and "Summer Madness" those were back in Kool and the Gang's early years.
This takes me back to the clubs back in the day......so easy to Grove to this song....happy vibes!
This song always gets stuck in my head for days when I hear it,lol.
Saw them in Tacoma and they were great live I grew up listening to this band
Love this song. These guys were great.
When I was a teen, Kool & The Gang was my feeling good music for sure ! .. ANd as a francophone, for me it was the beginning of using the word 'cool' in my life ! When something was cool, it was 'cool and the gang' 😄
Early Kool and The Gang, like Hollywood Swingin', Jungle Boogie and their instrumental masterpiece Summer Madness are some of my favorites that you will like and should check out!
Asia! The college band sound is part of the reason I'm obsessed with Beyonces "Homecoming"...if you haven't seen it, even if you're not a fan, you'll love it! Love u guys!
70's and 80's had some smooth music! Glad I was here to experience every part of it!
after Football dances were insane at my High School! 1982 baby! the dances were legend!
Check out “Ladies Night.” Another banger!
"Ladies' Night" is another favorite ❤🥰
Music was so much more communal in the seventies and eighties. Now everyone has their earbuds in. This is just fun! Thanks for this channel, you two are so great.
I love this. This reminds me of the good days when we all danced at the same places to the same music. Wedding receptions alway had Kool and the Gang.
Luther Vandross "A house is not a home"....... Amazing song.
Check out their classic played on heavy rotation in the roller skating rink: “Hollywood Swinging”, a classic homage to doo-wop “Joanna”, and other hits like: “Jungle Boogie”, “Fresh”, “Too Hot”, and “Ladies Night”.
I just wanted to say I've been watching your pod cast the last few days and love it. I grew up in the Disco and Funk era, I'm a 60+ year old hippie and this type of music gets down deep in my soul, you 2 are awesome ✌
Loved this as a kid. Heavy radio play. I was kid but I knew
Great band, as Asia said it hits your groove vibe.
Check out Heatwave-Mindblowing decisions.
Had the 45. One of my favs. This song was a moment for me.
Heard that song for the first time on the party mile in Bangkok, Thailand ,early eighties, where dancing was going on everywhere.Great memories.
In the 80s we had clubs that were dancing and rollerskating. Kool and the gang were always playing.
Love seeing you guys really enjoy a song! 🥰
Also been great to sample for Hiphop; I’m hearing some classics.
My favourite Kool & the Gang song, this is such a great song, as cool, groovy, vibrant and positive now as the day it was written, simply brilliant..........
Another lesser known song by them is "Open Sesame "
The 70s were the best years of my life. This song is so cool!!!
loved Saturday nights at the skating rink and they played this group's music .
Remember when I was a kid all my cousins would come over and we'd skate in my basement with this on the boombox. Lights off and glow sticks. ✨️
This was the best thing about having older sisters in the early 70’s
this band started in the late 60's they had their best succes in the 80's decade. many hits
One of the best "feel good" songs of all time!!! Puts you in a good mood even if it is a rainy day. You two are killin it!!!! THANK YOU
Kool & the Gang song "Joanna"...so sweet and the video is adorable
Happy Summer! Got that 'Summer Madness' by Kool & The Gang on loop today.
I would love to watch both of you react to Level 42 "Something about you".
Every wedding recital was playing this song All Around the World..
