Y'alls reaction is the same as ours was back in 1974 (I was 15)!! Yes, it was the JAM and we tore it up!! I can STILL see in my memory my friends and I dancing at the house party/school dance. I was at a Sinbad music festival in 1995 and when this song came on EVERYBODY went crazy!! Now, y'all MUST listen/react to their other hit 'Funky Stuff' - OMG y'all ain't ready!! So many good times💃💃
This was when Kool and the Gang was more of a funk band, with tunes like Jungle Boogie and Can't Get Enough of That Funky Suff. I liked this version of Kool and the Gang better than the currant pop version. They also recorded a song in 1971 called Whose Gonna Take the Weight.
This song was made before J. T. Taylor became the lead singer. He led Celebration, Ladies Night, She's Fresh, Cherish, and a few others. All great songs.
Dance classic from back in the day. Swingin' back then was more like full on partying, not what it means today.

Omg! I was 14 when this came out and my older brother used to blast this song and Jungle Boogie from his red lowrider Impala with a black top and tinted windows while giving us rides to high school. Everyone heard us coming a mile away. Cops used to pull us over cuz the car was too low but as soon as all 11 of us(8 in back/3 in front) got out, it wasn't low anymore and cops could not write a ticket. Lol. Great times!

Ahhh, takes me back to elementary school. The 70s was the best era for music, in my opinion. Kool & The Gang we’re writing hits well into the 80s also. Love it.
This song and JUNGLE BOOGIE were played relentlessly at all my high school dances. We watched them on Soul Train and learned to funk out to the pure soul of this platform and bell bottom classic. Time for you to join in and get down. Enjoy
Oh man, love me some Kool and the Gand. Saw them in Vegas 2 years ago, still sound great and the whole crowd of baby Boomers were dancin' to every hit song.
This song has such a good groove. You really can't go wrong with Kool & The Gang. They deliver. Great reaction. Have you seen Prince play this live? He delivers too. Just sayin'
You have to watch the movie Roll Bounce (2005) with Little Bow Wow. In the summer of 1978, a teenager and his group of friends face new challenges when their neighborhood roller-skating rink closes, forcing them to visit a different rink. The sound track is off the chain 🔥 The group in this movie roller skate dance to this song.
Back in 1974 , here I was a little white boy from East L.A I was 10 years old and this was the jam I loved the most. It just made me happy while living in poverty, drugs alcohol and physical abuse and stuck in a fuctup neighborhood. It was my escape from hell even if it was for about 4 and a half minutes. When I listen to it now that same happiness comes back to me.
What a great year for soul and funk. I purchased this album in 1974. Also The Blackbyrds (Walking In Rhythm); B.T. Express (Do It 'Til Your Satisfied) and Funkadelics (Standing On The Verge of Getting It On). Just to name a few.
OH YES!!! Such a great dance tune! Good times😉
