This wonderful piece by Ludvig Van Beethoven is meant for the piano. However, on guitar it is a difficult piece to play well as it is physically demanding on the left hand, the challenge being that it needs to be played smoothly throughout and there are many barre chords. Many guitarist play it way too fast and with too many varying dynamics. I've always thought that this piece should be played slowly with not too much variation in dynamics. Maybe it was because as a child I heard this piece played live on the piano many times without the variation and it just stuck with me ever since?

My mother used to play this song on the piano when I was growing up. I always loved hearing it. She passed away 12 years ago - this song brings her back to me..... I want to learn the piano !!! Thank you for keeping her memory alive....

wow this is awesome, This is as good as it can be to play the moonlight sonata with a guitar!
i have been searching in youtube for a guitar version that most sounds like piano and yours is the best so far. when i say "sound like piano" i mean that the dynamics be played like a pianist usually does. of course the guitar doesn't have that massive sound but it can be done, to just close one's eyes and believe it's a piano playing, i believe it's all in the dynamics once the player masters the left hand. i'm a guitar player (sort of) and would really like to hear it played like that.

a few observations--first, your tempo and pacing is near perfect for me--this almost brought me to tears and only barrios and bach have ever done that--the subtleties of this song are simply amazing, despite what Beethoven may have thought of this, i feel its one of the most evocative songs of all time--a timeless classic in every sense of the word--and finally, im learning this on classical, and even though its slow, it is a challenge..........

This piece is in tab in " The Classical Collection for Guitar Tab" arranged by Alexander Gluklikh. (1992) . I've been working on it off and on for over a year and I am almost done. Great song but I feel the people that play it could put more feeling into milking the notes and not so militant about the quarter note triplets. But that is me. Great Job!

I'm also a music lover but instruments just dont love me I just sing but I cant play the guitar and it frustrates me when I see people playing it as if it's very easy but when I try all my fingers hit the wrong cord LOL anyway..... you are a good one...thumbs up
