  • Hello everyone! Today we have another episode of Kubota L-Series Tractor MUST HAVE MODS!! This episode is on the toolbox. The OEM toolbox is pretty much useless as it does not provide much room for anything. It is also a cheap plastic and I feel that it takes away from the overall image of the tractor. This modification will work on the Kubota L2501, Kubota L3301, and Kubota L3901! The mounting location on my tractor is the Kubota factory location when you purchase a backhoe. If you wish to purchase that mounting bracket, it is sold through Kubota.
Here is a link to the Ammo cans I purchased:

    And the stickers:

As always everyone, if you liked the video please check out my other videos, comment, like, and subscribe!! Thanks for watching!

Nice job! I drilled some drain holes in the bottom and glued a piece of screen over them to keep the mud wasps out.

Not a bad idea! I liked having it water tight still although I can see that causing rust/moisture issues in more humid climates. Luckily Wyoming is extremely dry lol

Another great idea! Over time those bolts are going to wear out the bottom of that can - with all the jiggling around of tools. So, I suggest putting 2 fender bolts on the inside, and it will last way longer. Keep it up!

Good work....very nicely done. BTW the part number for this bracket is 7K503-16840. Bracket, U-bolts, nuts and shipping will run about $100 at Messicks. It's a great solution, but it will be in the way for me when I'm tilling and brush-hogging so I have to find a different location. I bought the extended behind-the-seat ammo can bracket from Zooks, but that's going to hit the 3-pt hitch at the full up position. Not sure what I'm going to do.....

Very good idea! I have the same small factory box and it’s pack tight. Will remedy that before too long.
Having your tool box match the tractor is normal thinking as far as I’m concerned, it’s not ocd. The Kubota decal is a nice touch. 👍

I did this mod, kind of. I put the ammo can onto the right side loader support arm and left the mount you are using for a second box which I just kept the OEM tool box on there as additional. But i do have a smaller ammo can to replace the OEM box with at some point.
    Loving your mods so far.

I recently mounted a 50 caliber ammo can to my quick hitch using retrieval magnets. I showed how that I did it in a recent video that did. A big advantage of using the big magnets s that I can move t to a different tractor if I choose to do so.
I replaced my factory tool box with a Stanley that I bought at a local farm store. Good job on the install Cody.

You might also put some toolbox liner in the bottom to help with rattling.

Use some tape to locate your holes on the bracket and then transfer the tape to the Box

Great idea, and I love the mods you do and the paint and the sticker really does look stock. I tried this with the factory toolbox that is behind the seat and this does not work well, the ammo box is to tall and the seat hits it when you sit down and bends. I am going to try to fabricate something to replicate the side mount as I love how this functions and looks

Bad location, good idea, better location would be in front of the side step, also old ammo cans leak rain and will rust your tools,

I like having the storage for things I use but agreed that the stock one is useless!!
