Hi Daniel, you need to get your slate in bulk bags in the smaller independent garden centres, Also it is extensively used on car showroom forecourts as when it's wet it shines so your salesman needs to talk to garages planning or having refurbs... Audi / Landover garages use it a lot...
Small point of note but it does get me every time I hear it, when using OVER and OUT they mean separate things and shouldn’t be used together… when conversing over the airwaves use OVER and when the transmission is complete you close with OUT. More importantly, love the videos!
You can use a two-way radio if it is installed into the vehicle and if it is used in a hands-free manner. This means that the device must be in a fixed position and the driver must not hold it while driving.25 Jan 2023
I stay in the middle lane when the motorway is clear, you know like early in the morning 5am & not a soul about. Abit like what Terry & Daniel are doing on the Vid.
Electrically if you want to future proof your site you should look into splitting your site into essential and non essential services and invest in an ATS. That way if you ever lose power all your essential business services are still powered by the generator and when the power does get restored it will automatically switch back to mains and your generator should turn itself off after going through a shutdown sequence.
It’s Sunday and I’m watching Asheville Great content helps me to feel like I am not the only one struggling even if I’m a lot smaller than him Keep up the great work
SRINGS😢😢 On trucks and locomotives leaf springs are breaking a lot more regularly than they used to. The steel quality I believe has tumbled over recent years so it sounds like the truck manufacturers maybe washing their hands of the responsibility of the quality of their own springs. A slippery slope indeed. Next it might be engines that they won't cover under warranty...
Steel quality over the last 50 years increased. Metallurgical processes were refined and there is an enormous improvement of steel qualities for specific applications.
@Stefan_Kawalec Hi Stefan. I agree with you there but what is causing the large increase in the failure of steel industrial springs where the manufacturer will no longer guarantee them?
Morning Daniel, All. This week on my morning commute out of the blue I have fallen down cement steps and x-rays show torn ankle ligaments and a fractured leg bone. However, with a cast and crutches I am enjoying watching the latest Ashville Weekly episode as per usual, and wouldn’t have it any other way. Thanking you Daniel and all in appreciation. It’s going to be a good week ahead. Take Care Daniel, All❤
3:10 Tesco or their suppliers have already done this once in 2022 and they know of the consequences. Everyone shopped a Aldi. So I think everyone, in the business community will be more cautious of passing prices on. Our national debt is 100pc our GDP so little we can do.
It was a brilliant idea you to start a vlog on your business activity ..Especially your detail on H&S , equipment maintenance, trials and tribulations, how you overcome them , However, most importantly you sell yourself to potential big contract and small customers I can see your company growing into a potential PLC making you millionaire, I don't think you'd change if this prediction happens
The videos are great and the editing only keeps getting better and better. If possible sometime it would be nice to get an updated drone shot with explanation of the old yard vs new yard.
As a hgv tech of 13 years, you buy a scania tipper because they’re bomb proof. I absolutely agree they should be covered under R&M especially an XT which is built for the environment you work them in
Springs cannot be covered on the R&M contracts because it’s a very driver damaged part because they can drive into potholes or you can overload the truck without scania knowing or even your driver can miss a speed bump which all can lead to spring and tyre damage. It’s a a part in the grey. We usually have this problem in Africa due to bad roads we change springs every other month.
except this is the uk, not the wild of africa, the roads dont have huge potholes and trucks are checked to be loaded with the correct amount, no reason the springs shouldnt be covered
Hey team Ashville I spotted a small mistake at 08:35 it says WED 13 WED instead of WED 13 NOV. It doesn't really matter but I think you guys would like to know. But the rest of the video is great as usual.
Love your videos Dan, watch them every week. So imagine my surprise when I drove down from Mid-Wales the other week (Wednesday 13th I think) and was sat next to you crawling in traffic on the A40 at 6:30am. I thought of all the people to be sat next to. To be fair I noticed the slick motor and thought I recognise that car from your videos. Think you was on the phone, so didn't want to bother you. Thanks again for all the great content. Love how honest you are about the business, its very refreshing to see that money don't grow on tree's and you have to work bloody hard for it. 👍😊
some real positivity, good leads & contracts Re: the springs I guess they are made and tested to a certain specification & for them to break they have gone beyond that making them a owner responsibility, frustrating when you are paying a hefty R&M fee
Shorter video than normal but I guess all depends how much footage you get. Rather have quality than quantity - but you guys always have QUALITY QUANTITY 😅. Re - the Nat Geo dubbed - they use that dubbing voice all the time for Nat Geo documentary. 👊🏼
I totally agree with you Daniel, Are scania saying that their wagons will always break a spring , when I buy my warranties for all my white goods at home if anything goes wrong then they are repaired under the warranty, it doesn't come under ware and tare, loving the content you're putting out, keep up the good fight, hope your feeling better , you looked under the cosh in your last vidio, remember your own mental and health wellbeing is a lot more important than any job, stay strong Daniel, ❤
Near to where I live I see the Ashville lorry busy working pulling up to the site, it makes my day, I check out the plate from a far and feel I know this vehicle. I like that ur in my area I always have my eye out for the fleet :). When I do see the fleet by chance I actually in my head go “yessss, there it is”. I’m so silly, I’m still gonna do it (can’t help it).
Hi Daniel another good video mate ,it made my day I love the stuff that goes around ,,,I’m just a simple Aussie bloke who loves England cheers all the staff at the yard ❤️🙏👍🚂✝️
Was down in west drayton cemetery for work on Thursday as a stone mason... Just round the corner before we arrived I seen a ASHVILLE concrete lorry whilst driving I didn't take a photo but just know your boy is SERIOUS and gave the driver a cheek "beep beep" and a thumbs up
Well Daniel, if the Volvo or Mercedes R&M contract is more viable from an Ashville perspective, then it makes the manufacturer choice a little easier for the next load of new lorry doesn’t it 😎 Also, I’d suggest hat decorative slate products are only supplied by a few, so,perhaps the sales guys need to get out and In front of potential buyers, not only merchants by landscaping contractors too. Just a thought.
Daniel, the springs be it rear or front would be the result of the driver and road/site conditions. Trucks could be overloaded on the axles and add stress on the spring leafs. That’s the nature of the job 👍🏴🇺🇸
23:20 maybe your good pal welderfabber could make you an attachment for one of the small machines for scraping out the corners of the bays seeing as it one of those jobs that will always need to be done at some point 🤙
Morning Ashville Family I can’t believe it’s the first of December and that means it’s Christmas around the corner! But my question to you all is What is your favourite Christmas Movie?? I will have to say Elf is mine! Have a great week ahead ❤👊🏾
Hey Dan. What happened to the idea of installing a big red diesel tank in the yard to refuel the trains. It sounded like a great idea. Luv the vids. Best from Boston
Hell yeah team Ashville! Seeing things start to ramp up (hopefully) and things looking forward to 2025. A difficult end to the year but you held on fantastic. Keep at it, keep evolving. As always awesome editing and production!
Seeing the Ashville trucks on convoy going through surrey every morning really brings smiles to my boys faces! Thank you Daniel for all your efforts! Happy 1st of December to you and your dynamic team!
Daniel, Springs will never be covered by warranty like windscreens or tyres or body work damage because They don't know how fast your driver has been driving over potholes uneven roads or even bolder/ pavements. Unlike an engine or working parts they should not be affected by outside or other circumstances. Whereas parts not covered could be for other reasons to fail.
@3:02 it doesn't matter. If they increase prices and price people out, those people will just shop elsewhere. Other companies will fill the space. We absolutely cannot continue down the line of paying the vast majority of the population poverty wages. The economy will never grow if people cant afford to spend money.
Maintenance contract should contain a list of specific components that are not covered. This contract is signed and agreed at the time of taking it out. Quite a lot of extended warranties are not worth the paper they are written on but they are far from free.
SCANIA is not what it used to be anymore thanks to VAG owning it. They outsourced almost everything to China, like Springs, hence they break easily. Nothing but problems with SCANIA these days. If you want a bumper to Bumper service deal, get Mercedes trucks, it includes pretty much everything except for windshields. Sure they aren't as nice to drive as Scania, but seems to hold up better.
It's mind blowing how the financial sector works, as you say, Tesco have to pay an extra £billion in paye contributions, and business being business, they are free to recoup that cost to keep profits up, so in essence it's the public who are going to foot the bill. In contrast, You as a construction company, have the same percentage increases in contributions, but then other government schemes are adding more and more to your costs, for example the new central London refurbishment, to be able to do your job, there are extortionate parking charges, charges for scaffold and rubbish chutes to make the removal of waste safer and quicker, congestion charges, and on and on, all of which you can't pass on to your customer as it makes the proposed work too expensive to be economically viable. The only way to actually do the work is to increase the amount of labour in order to do the job. Further increasing your tax contributions. The red tape for small business is killing small business, not to mention the amount of small businesses that have failed due to large corporations like Carrilion going bankrupt overnight, the executives of these big companies never suffer, the only people who suffer from any government policy are the workers and small business owners like yourself. As a business you have to give customers unsecured credit in order to grow. Tesco don't hand anything over without payment. Tesco get to drive huge wagons to the door of their shops in central London to bring supplies multiple times a day, small businesses can't have a skip for a few hours a day in the same areas, making the job harder to do, more expensive, higher risk and increase the timescale. It makes zero sense in helping the country's economy grow?
The complaint wasn’t about the wage increase but the tax increase as well. The wage increase far above the rate of inflation (more than double) and was no more than a cynical attempt to make more workers pay more tax, and force up the rate of National Insurance more than the 1.5% they claimed. Of course expect price increases of at least 10% between now and April on just about everything. If you ran a business you would understand the impact this has not only on your costs but on your prices.
What's being a millionaire/billionaire got to do with anything. Firstly if you have a pension then some of your retirement is probably invested in companies like Tesco. So it's in your personal interest too. This us/tehm thinking is just lack of thought. Secondly, super markets run on small margins. If you don't know what that means then look into it. Third; when speaking in percentages it doesn't matter what the actual value is. If your businesses' net profit is 10% it doesn't matter whether that is 10% from 100 or 1 million when a new tax takes off another 1%. The business will have to find a way to recover that 1% because you effectively have a new cost in the business. Increase prices to customers, squeeze suppliers etc. Simply generating more business doesn't work because your new cost is also attached to more business and operating margin(%) remain the same with volume of business assuming you are already efficient at scale. In this case Tesco having to sell more stuff from shelves probably means they will need to hire more people(to stack more things or handle more from warehouse) so the increased NI still applies to selling more.
Tesco NIC increase (according to Morgan Stanley!) £250M per year for next 4 years = to your headline grabbing 😏£1Billion. Tesco's annual salary bill for 2022 was £8.2 Billion (ChatGPT) so an annual increase of 3% (3.02% to be exact!) So, large BUT NOT massive! I LOVE your videos and have followed your story from the beginning - but I'd be MUCH more interested in how the government policies are impacting YOU and ASHVILLE - rather than click bate BS from the mainstream press. Keep up the fantastic work - we're all pulling for you!!
We would love to see more on the penthouse refurbishment project, longer segments or even a stand along video of the whole process, from how you get ready to start a project, right through to the interior design choices, more detail basically? As the saying goes, ‘you don’t get if you don’t ask’, how about the rest of the Asheville fans, what do you all say?
When using your hand held , if you finish a sentence with OVER, you expect a response . If you finish with OUT that’s the end of conversation , therefore you can’t have OVER & OUT , it doesn’t make sense, you see 👍🏻👍🏻
Ehm Tesco had an revenue of 61 billion pounds and made 2,8 billion in profits. Yes they can afford another billion to pay for the NHS. It’s literally a 2,3 percent increase of their budget. The NHS needs a lot money to repair and someone has to pay it and that someone are the biggest corporations
Well Daniel sounds like you are turning a corner. And everything is starting to line up. Have you got your down volumetric up and running sounds like you will need it soon. 👍😜
I've been watching these videos since they were in low double figures, and this is the only one where you've actually forgotten to put the links at the end of the film 😂😂 Regards springs- I'd say springs under a certain mileage would be R+M, but over say 30,000 should be owners obligation 😊
Tesco deserve it, they made record profits during Covid. The higher ups had record bonuses while the rest of the employees were stuck with the same wage. I personally feel it’s about time the money went back into the economy instead of the pockets of CEOs and such.
Hi Daniel, you need to get your slate in bulk bags in the smaller independent garden centres, Also it is extensively used on car showroom forecourts as when it's wet it shines so your salesman needs to talk to garages planning or having refurbs... Audi / Landover garages use it a lot...
I agree. I have been supplying Garden Centres for years so I have some good contacts if it helps?
Small point of note but it does get me every time I hear it, when using OVER and OUT they mean separate things and shouldn’t be used together… when conversing over the airwaves use OVER and when the transmission is complete you close with OUT. More importantly, love the videos!
Liebheer need to rent a corner in the Ashville yard as it will save them loads on diesel and time as it seems they are there week in week out

Probably not a good idea showing Terry driving one handed, with his coffee in the other hand, for the same reason🙁

Indian Daniel I'm bloody howling, genuinely needed that after a rubbish week 😂😂😂
Springs, read the contract. If not specifically excluded, it's covered and they need to pay for them. It's English law not Scania law that applies.
Vehicle should have load readings. I don’t see why it would be outside of warranty.

Now I finaly know how you do that funny voice! 😂 I heard the background noice from the train pitched up a bit.😊
Love your videos Dan. Think your hilarious. I hope to get you on our podcast next year and film it in your office 🤜🏻🤛🏻
This video was Short as Daniel. I need a hour laying in bed on a Sunday morning, thank you Daniel 😙 .
Over and Out !! 😂 .
We would love to see more on the penthouse refurbishment project, longer segments or even a stand along video of the whole process, from how you get ready to start a project, right through to the interior design choices, more detail basically?
As the saying goes, ‘you don’t get if you don’t ask’,
how about the rest of the Asheville fans, what do you all say?
When using your hand held , if you finish a sentence with OVER, you expect a response . If you finish with OUT that’s the end of conversation , therefore you can’t have OVER & OUT , it doesn’t make sense, you see 👍🏻👍🏻
Next time I work on the STA ELR I shall think of you guys 💪
Ehm Tesco had an revenue of 61 billion pounds and made 2,8 billion in profits. Yes they can afford another billion to pay for the NHS. It’s literally a 2,3 percent increase of their budget. The NHS needs a lot money to repair and someone has to pay it and that someone are the biggest corporations
Well Daniel sounds like you are turning a corner. And everything is starting to line up. Have you got your down volumetric up and running sounds like you will need it soon. 👍😜
I've been watching these videos since they were in low double figures, and this is the only one where you've actually forgotten to put the links at the end of the film 😂😂
Regards springs- I'd say springs under a certain mileage would be R+M, but over say 30,000 should be owners obligation 😊
Nice one Danny👍💓🙏
Tesco deserve it, they made record profits during Covid. The higher ups had record bonuses while the rest of the employees were stuck with the same wage. I personally feel it’s about time the money went back into the economy instead of the pockets of CEOs and such.
Flo to Daniel “Yes, too loud and too often” 😂
I wonder if it will get annoying for the team if its to much to often as they are experienced in the roll & need little assistance
Should have both hands on the steering wheel at all times, especially when driving on high speed roads. 5:35
Alert, the steering wheel police are here.
