I love how these demos are so empty and have such remix potential. That's kind of what they are for. But this? This could be the actual song, and I'd still enjoy it.
I think it shows how people overrate Alan's contribution to the band. What musical parts on the finished album aren't present in this demo? Then Alan begged him later to do simpler demos to give him more room to make up parts, Martin complied, and then Alan started saying things after he left like "Martin's lucky I don't fight for a songwriting credits on a song like World in my Eyes that I made the bassline for!" He only didn't make a bassline because you asked him not to! I really appreciate Alan, but he gets too much credit from some Depeche fans. Like, if you respect Alan, you should respect Martin far more. This is basically the finished song, recorded by himself at Martin's home, and no part of it existed before Martin wrote and recorded it. Not to mention he's turned himself into a modular synth master lately. Alan, meanwhile, has had to sell his car and all his old synths and Depeche memorabilia to survive. Honestly, if even a quarter of the DM fans who insist the band is nothing without Alan had ever bought his Recoil albums, this wouldn't have happened to him. I really respect and admire Alan, but the DM "fans" who hate their music since he left suck.
@@TroyBlackford People are just frustrated with the DM music after Alan left. But i think it's because they lost their melancholia, became mega millionaires, became family men, left the UK and started living the Santa Barbara beach life (Martin). Lost his edgy lyrics along the way.
NowThisReallyTakesMeBack!! Used to occasionally sleep in the record library of an old South Australian radio station called 5MMM. I was only 15yo/homelessru away at the time. They had a terrific overnight show W a guy called TonyIrvine; he played this & I was instantly hooked on Depeche Mode.
Interesting to notice that Enjoy The Silence the most famous of the DM songs has no contribution from Dave Gahan. Obviously he sings the song, but Martin brough the vocal line all set and done, living to him just recording work for the track. All of the rest was laid up on Alan's shoulders to be done - and what wonderful masterpiece he accomplished.
That's why Alan Wilder left Depeche, Dave was always drugged up (actually overdosed and died 😵), Martin was busy getting drunk, and Andy just clapped along to the playback tape. 🙄 Alan was making them all rich.
Beaucoup pense qu'alan wilder etait le véritable pilier du succès de dm et même si j'adore wilder , la seul et véritable âme de depeche mode c'est martin gore il n'y a qu'a ecouter ces demos pour en etre convaincus
Martin is such a genius songwriter! ♡
Very true
Yep
Martin's voice sounded just as fresh,as it does now. 😊

funny how they're better than the glossy expanded fluff. this is like analogue heaven

His voice is perfection!!
Fantastic. I almost like this more than the produced album version.
It's a trip that you can hear a song you haven't heard in 15 years but remember every single word.
I love Martin's demos.
The DEMO-Track from Martin 1984 so nice! WOW 😯👍💓
If Martin wasn't so shy he could have been the lead man of DM for sure.
Martin❤Genius, angel, cutie IS DM

I love the bass line in this original version.
I can't hear a huge difference tbh

I think it's just the tone of it, but I think the eventual tone is better personally
I would love to hear the demo for Blasphemous Rumours.
Me too

The best version of Lie to me. The Martin's voice fit better with this song. And more simplicity. Delightful.
nothing beats studio but martin's voice truly is beautiful :-)
Say, I'm the only one... yes! you are Martin ! Amazing Demo! Giving the name of the album "Some Great Reward"
Yes,Martin is the ONLY 1!
P.D. ¡Gloriosa remera!!!👏
So Lie To Me.... Love this song and Martin's voice ...Amazing !
Sounds like some sort of a vampire version. I love it, lol
One of my favourite DM lyrics!
I love this version !
The demo really underscores how funk-inflected the tune is!
I love this demo with Martin ♥
No paro de escucharla, es incluso mejor que la version final. Ojala estuviera en mejor calidad, pero es mucho pedir. Gracias por compartir.
Adore ❤❤

Wow.... I just love it!!!!
Best remix of this song ever 🎶💖🎶
Wow. Beautiful.
Mysterious and dark.. amazing demo
Nice demo. Nice little drum machine.
Thank you for sharing this!!
Que bonita y tan más pura versión!!. Ése Martin es todo un genio de la música, creo que hasta tiene mejor voz que Dave Gahan!
Darker. Better. Love this version.
Remember Martin made a solo album. Depeche Mode is just the best mouth piece for his music
Martin you are the greatest !
Funky version of " lie to me". Like it too 👍👍👍
Mmmm.... Martin...I love that sensual and sexy voice. Since the first time I heard it I'll never be the same
