Sounds like it really comes to life in the middle of 2nd to 3rd gear, then it roars. These aren't for speed, but from what I understand it doesn't take much to truly bring it to life. It sounds very strong.

@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 I always tell people power and torque are just different from engine to engine. An EcoBoost is 500 tq to 475 on Godzilla but people don't understand the difference. I'm guessing the Godzilla just has more 'Old school grunt with very easy ways to boost up. I would do just that, but not for hp, but for the cast iron torque. Meanwhile the EcoBrat get a shot of boost and makes V-8's cry. But this Godzilla is truly something specisl I think. Don't be the guy doing 0-60 runs and then criticize MPG. lol. It's 7,3000 mass. You'll be the guy selling it to some other guy in 8 years with 180,000 miles but no difference. But the next guy gets the deal he wanted. We've all been ripped off and a lot of people are liars. Take care of Godzilla because somebody you've never met will be thankful.

I wasn’t criticizing the mpg, it is actually good for the size in my opinion. Yeah I did a zero to 60 but I didn’t engage 4x4 or brake torqued it either. I don’t beat up my rides and try to take care of them the best I can. Maintenance is one of my pet peeves after all these things are expensive! Thanks again for commenting!

@HalfShell I keep on saying, from the time it ca,e out that it's the "Son of 460". I thought of just "445" but Oldsmobile already had the "442" for other reasons. Back in 1969-1972 Caddy's boasted 500 tq, 460's 485. I'm not sure about HEMI 426. 383 or anything. However, I feel like this is an instant classic and having the nickname 'Godzilla' doesn't help because in the realm of Monsters, he is KING. I grew up watching Godzilla so when I first heard the news, I was glued to UA-cam and anything to get information, and this engine, they purposely set at 430 as a minimum number because it's so simply to add 100 horsepower, or even up to 1,000 more hp. It's a HYbrid a mix between work truck and race car engine. Yeah, Ford had to be working on this longer than the 2 years like they said. Lastly, people will spend about, what is it?, $7,000 ish compared to the Powerstroke? Add a few bolt ons, a little this and that and suddenly you're hovering 500-600 hp with around 650 tq. You will surely have no issues tugging around a 8,000 pound work trailer or the occasional skidsteer and trailer of around,...I don't know, 14,000 pounds. Yet we all know that if it's done stupidly, it's a constant tug of war with the trailer doing a lot of the driving. Then you have hills to go down. My motto is "A good driver makes a bad car look good, a bad driver makes a good car look bad". Thanks for reading, Peace and "Hail to The King of Monsters", Godzilla. **Have you heard anything on an aluminum block 6.8 with several sharing components with the 7.3, or our these just fables??

@HalfShell They opened up at 430hp and 475tq on purpose, I think. They okayed the Crate motors for mass production and this makes us Old School V-8 fellas very proud of Ford. Now you have the EcoBrats (like spaz little sisters) then you have the Coyote (like a young man raring to yell out in rebellion. The Powerstroke is the big farm guy, strong as hell, and then the Godzilla, a tough sumbitch just waiting to stomp. And for the modest guys who prefer an ordinary XL, you're looking at 290hp and 265tq. I am even sure people have pumped that one up as well. I'm trying to think of what the Original Ford Big Block that started it all for them (as a Windsor as well, but not necessarily). *Is it the 460, 429, 390?? I guess I will check here...it looks like around 1952, but there is so much information. Damn worth researching. "385 series" (Lima) went from 1968 through 1998 and I think that includes 460. Maybe you know more of the top your melon, aye?

I question whether it is engineered that way because I also see a lot of videos that hand calculate mpg and compare to computer and consistently get the same within a tenth of an mpg. Just wondering if you think those test vehicles are re-engineered for the test vehicles to be accurate and everyday consumer vehicles are engineered with the built in discrepancy to make you think you're getting better than you are

I’ve don’t experiments on whole tanks of gas in eco mode and less aggressive driver to see if my foot was the variable. In all cases it was under what the dash told me. If you think about it it’s really smart on their part. The average consumer doesn’t take the time to calculate the mpg… why would they? It’s right in front of them haha. The 1st vehicle I used Full Synthetic on was my brand New 1978 Celica GT Liftback. After the break-in period, in went 5-20w Mobile 1. I changed my oil every September, and there wasn't another Celica that I came across that could stay with mine. You can double the span between oil change intervals because that Synthetic doesn't let dirt settle, so it gets filtered better.

Good choice on oil filter, I feel it's best to use oem on that one. But Pensoil? I'm no oil expert, but I've always been told Pensoil is a cheap budget type oil, never had anyone recommend Pensoil to me, and I've seen bearing tests done that didn't fair well with Penoil. I feel pretty confident there are much better oils out there then Pensoil. IMO Pensoil is one of the worst brands to use.

Pennzoil was purchased by Shell Oil back in 2011. Modern Pennzoil uses Natural Gas to make its base stock. This is NOT 1980's Pennzoil (was known to cause knocking). All the tests I see (linked video, plus Blackstone Used Oil Analysis show this new Pennzoil Platinum is a very high quality oil, one of the best in the market). I have been pleasantly surprised by the accuracy of the estimated MPG, at least on long distance, highway drives. I think stop and go driving may throw off the mileage. I have a 2017 F-350, 6.7 Diesel. One test, unloaded, no towing, 60 to 65 MPH, multi-state commute was 900 miles. It's stated MPG hovered between 19.9 and 20.0 MPG, and after 900 miles on a single tank (48 gallons on the long bed), it still said I had a 60 miles reserve. If the MPG was off by more than 0.2 MPG, I would not have made the distance without refueling.

@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 Yep, a heavy foot takes a toll. Speed has the biggest effect on MPG by far. Here are some numbers:
I can get 20+ MPG at 55-60 MPH. It is ~18.7 MPG at 65 MPH. But, it dropped to under 13.5 MPG at 80 to 85 MPH driving on flat terrain in Utah. And once, when driving into a strong headwind at 65 MPH (wind resistance maybe similar to driving at 100 MPH), the mileage dropped to 11.0 MPG

The manufacturers do their best to accurately measure MPGs. I have seen under and over estimates. Unfortunately fuel injectors are not perfectly balanced at the factory in sets of 8. So if the computer is tracking fuel injector events and has a known fuel quantity per event and they are slightly off between ejectors The true amount is going to be off. That is why some vehicles might be very accurate in their measurements because of very balanced dead on spec injector sets and other vehicles of the same engine being quite a bit off because of variances between injectors. It all adds up over time. Most cases it is within 1-2 MPGs. There are other factors to consider, but this is a big one overall.

Just to give everyone a comparison to this truck as far a fuel efficiency. I have a 22 GMC Sierra 2500 6.6 gas engine 4x4 AT4 crew cab 6.5' bed all stock. Around town city driving (stop and go almost every block or 2) stops signs and red lights, I get 11.5mph driving like an old man. On the highway its real sensitive to speed. If I keep it under 70mph I get 15mpg and at 80mph I get 13mpg.
Now towing my truck is horrific on gas. I only tow a 7x16 enclosed cargo trailer that usually weighs around 4,500lbs total. Truck will get 8.5mpg around town and 10mpg on the highway at 65mpg. I never rev the engine past 3,000rpm. I personally think the 6.6 gasser friggin sucks. Worst mpg truck I have ever towed with and power isn't too impressive either even with the 3.73 gears.
