@@16BitKamek But thats an FPS, not exactly a genre he's really terrible at. Granted, Ray made it this far despite having bad rhythm but his struggle is fairly clear. Probs takes way more bully- I mean, demand for him to continue. Since he enjoyed story and characters so much, I don't blame him if he rather watch a cutscenes video or a walkthrough as he said he would.
He said he isn't, he doesn't dislike the game at all. He just said he has no rhythm so he's not very good at the game. But he loves the concept, the story, the humor and the characters. He said he's going to watch all the cutscenes on youtube because he loves the characters and humor a lot

A little sad that this will only remain as a one-off as this is by far my favorite game to have come out in years, but super hyped Ray played it too. This is actually my first rhythm based game yet like he said the characters, story, animation, and mechanics are just so spot on it makes it hard to find anything really wrong at all. I appreciate seeing a playthrough even if it wasn't his playstyle. The Korsika boss fight ending was probably one of the funniest cutscenes in all the game, plus the fact that the end of the bossfight can actually be funnier with one option you select unintentionally.

Got home from work at 11pm and desperately tried to catch up on the ~4hr of chat jukebox I missed... got ~3hr in before the purge, thankfully.
Also ray if you do keep playing, the way I got used to staying on beat was to literally just dodge on beat all the time outside of comeback. Tapping my foot while playing also helped. Got me used to the whole rhythm mechanic real quick.
That's what I did, I was basically wagging my foot the whole time I was playing to stay on beat
Definitely an awesome game. But the completion is going to be a challenge for sure. Needing five separate playthroughs to S rank everything is a bit of a jerk move on their part, but it's doable. Just gonna take a long time.
Though, you'll never take as much time as the first playthrough since you keep your kit, and you can do them at any order. Even just getting all the collectibles, farming for gears to get costumes and chips with no intention of 100% it, I got pretty far into completing Hard and below.
Not just5 playthroughs, but all the collectibles and challenges that will likely require even further playthroughs
This is the game I have wanted him to play. Hopefully there is more!
Happy to see it finally played! Also, remember- accept all the challenges from the wall of fame in the hideout, you get a fuckton of gears
The completion for this game is kinda brutal but once the gameplay clicks for you it gets so much easier, especially once you get all your summons, it makes higher combos much easier & parrying becomes second nature to allow you to play extra aggressively.
Also it's kinda weird that it's an anime game, but it's so well localised you don't realise it's natively Japanese for most of the game, even with some of the robots being designed after Japanese cultural designs & mythlogical creatures. The humour and slapstick absolutely plays into the strengths of the medium. I really think you'd enjoy this if you gave it another shot, the accessibility options can help improve the experience further

God this game is such a gem. No advertising whatsoever, dropped on the same day as overhyped forsaken, and in my opinion a GOTY contender. The plot isn’t the best but the fun gameplay, bangin soundtrack, and contextual writing and VA performances make up for it big time.

Just a note, you mentioned about Metal Hellsinger how you are always on beat. That is true for Hi-Fi Rush as well, one of the early tutorials mentioned you are always on beat, but if you get a perfect note then you do more damage (or something along those lines). I never paid too much attention to being on beat all the time and just enjoyed the game.
That being said achievement-wise this would be a potentially bad option for Ray as the Rhythm Master difficulty I believe fails you if you fall below a certain grade.
Yo playing this game on hard difficulty is no joke. Thankfully I beat it, but damn is it a good game imo. Excellent soundtrack, gameplay, and characters.
Forgotton Anne is similar in style to this.

Hey Ray, sad that it didn't click for you. But I just wanted to say that if the game wasn't rhythm based then the other positives you've gave the game might've also not exist like the writing and the characters and cutscenes.
Sorry if it came out ignorant or such! But if Hi-Fi Rush didn't click, how about DMC 5?
Honestly the first half of the game is pretty rough. You are still collecting core mechanics up until the 3rd boss. It really feels harder without them. But after you get those you really do start to feel super powered
I love this game very much but the 100% is brutal having to s rank every stage on every difficulty and beating the rhythm tower twice and with no items man it’s tough

To be honest, I didn't expect this to be up Ray's alley, but I'm glad he tried it out. I'm also glad studios seem to be trying new things. I think a more adult version of this would be pretty badass.

I really wanted to watch this video but it’s impossible to do on account of the ads. Ads every 1 minute 11 seconds on a rhythm based game has made this video unwatchable.
I love this game. Streamer mode is *wild*, considering in the default game the first boss is a Nine Inch Nails song.
And it’s even crazier considering the default for the intro is The Black Keys and the replacement is on my morning playlist
