Loved the two bosses too, Korsica kicked my ass, I think I lost 3 or 4 times to her, parry is very difficult to me even though I was playing Sekiro (Another Rythm game with parrys) before coming to Hi Fi Rush, she is such a cool character
hi-fi rush is basically what happens when you put Ratchet and Clank, Sunset Overdrive and Sly Cooper into a Blender while playing music after your favorite sunday cartoon
I really like these music fused combat games coming out. Sunsent Overdrive with its soundtrack that gets louder the more "style" you have, Hellsinger that powers up your attacks by shooting to the beat of metal music, Brutal Legend where you can melt enemies faces with guitar shredding. I really like this genre.

I breath a sign of relief when I get the enemy in that phase because its a guaranteed kill for me (at least for most enemies) I suggest going to the training room, setting one of these guys up with ai on and just endlessly practice these. It helps a fuck ton.
The game just feels like a cartoon from Jetix/Disney XD in a videogame form, in the best way possible. It's kinda nostalgic to see all the tropes from the cartoons of my childhood come together in a game. And yeah, the gameplay is also so good.
This is an early contender for Game of The Year for me. As a guy who loves rock music and plays guitar, this game was a must. The colorful world, awesome action, and like-able characters (plus of course, Korsica) make this game an instant classic. One thing that would’ve made this game even better would be if you can briefly play as each of your teammates in parts of the game. Would’ve neat to shoot enemies with Peppermint, dual wield batons with Korsica, or smash through foes with Macaron.

Awesome review, and I really enjoyed your comedic style and pacing here! Nice work. I'm having a very hard time remembering the last time I straight-up loved a game as much as this one; like you said, it reminded me just how *fun* games can be, and I'd forgotten how that felt. Sure, certain open-world games have given me a sense of awe and wonder (see: Elden Ring), but nothing has gotten its hooks into me just by being so goddamn *fun to play* like Hi-Fi Rush. The icing on the cake is that since everything is on-beat it's incredibly accessible, so once you get the timing down for things like stringing a Parry Counter slam into a magnet grab into an aerial combo, you feel like a total badass while the actual mechanical requirements are much more forgiving than, say, something like DMC5 since the windows for inputting commands are sometimes two or three beats long (or at least it feels that way). One last thing I'll say is that I'm gobsmacked by how good the original music is, compared to the licensed tracks. I legitimately have trouble for some levels deciding if I'd rather listen to the licensed music or the original songs for a given boss fight/stage. Apologies for the mini-essay, I just love the hell out of this game. Cheers!
don’t apologize for the essay, i love insightful comments like this! yeah i agree, too many games focus on the pretty graphics and cutscenes, but forget that its a GAME, and not a movie. this game is just such a pure joy to play, and is solid from start to finish. i like open world games and all, but i’d always rather play and tight and condensed, polished game than a massive, empty, buggy one. thanks for watching and for the nice words!
Rekka and Korsica was my favorite fights ngl, especially korsica for her unique parry game This game is just a master piece from the devs who made Evil Within Hi-Fi Rush is seriously a rush of pure adrenaline and fun, even after finishing the game, it still extremly fun

Months later, and Hi-Fi Rush was indeed a GOTY Runner Up and won Best Soundtrack on multiple outlets. Also Handsome Kale is voiced by Sonic the Hedgehog. If you didn't hear it before, you will never unhear it again.
I haven't even experienced the game myself and just by watching others play it I can comfortably say that it was almost an actual masterpiece of a game. I feel like the lack of a more sophisticated story as well as the short gameplay time kind of held it back a little bit, but that's not something that can't be fixed with a few dlcs or something I suppose. Out of every game released this year this one still remains the best for me by far, i thought hogwarts legacy looked okay, atomic heart looks repetitive, pizza tower is solid but feels less out there compared to this game. Just a great game in general, and im glad its linear, im so tired of the open world formula sometimes.
It’s honestly not even that linear, sure the path to progress is very often just one pathway however there’s several times you can take a side route to discover hidden stuff. I’m 2 playthroughs done and still haven’t gotten everything yet because I keep missing pathways. “Open worlds” are honestly something I hate having in so many damn games, like they make so many games a damn chore to get through because I don’t have the attention span to follow a set quest line without getting sidetracked, and then getting confused when encountering a previous quest line again.
i honestly miss more hand crafted, more linear experiences compared to “generic AAA empty open world #246” i’d rather have a tight, compact, fantastic experience than a mediocre dragged out one

One thing I like so much about it is 808 and her sounds, they're all samples from the 808 drum machine, and I love this nod to one of the devices that shaped hip hop and the music since the 80's
That short Bill and Ted reference with the life piece pickup going "Excellent!!" and short guitar riff, just barely caught it when that went by. Just a wonderful mini reference.
This game reminded me of no straight roads but this game blew my expectations away tenfold. It was so fun and so good it is easily the best game I've played in a long, long time. I desperately want more of this it's almost silly lol I am obsessed.
The main reason for my buying of the game was 808, if the cat wasn't in there I probably would have never touched it since I'm not a huge rhythm game fan. But once I started playing, I was hooked, and the originality of the bosses is amazing to me, Rekka is probably my favorite boss character-wise other than Korsica. And then there's the costumes once you've beat the game, and as a cat-lover you can probably guess which of Peppermint's outfits is my favorite.
This game was so good I just HAD to keep playing. I told myself I'd stop after beating the story but it was so fun...i got the 100% the other day after playing it basically every day
I didn't miss a single bot conversation either haha. They all have unique dialogue if you hit them too, so much attention to detail in this game. Not to mention they break the fourth wall when your playing the game for the second time.
Zanzo is such a damn vibe, frfr. I also like the realistic character growth from all of the main characters, chai and peppermint, specifically, with korsica as an honorable mention. Chai is constantly put in his place when he gets too cocky and arrogant, like the world is telling him to chillax a bit, you know? It's what makes these characters so endearing, especially chai. New victim for my husbando pile, he's placed next to Zoro from one piece.
B-but, Hi-fi Rush is my favourite game. No but seriously though, it‘s at least in my top 10 games of all time. Most of my favourite games win me over in the first few hours. This one won me over in the first cutscene and it somehow got even better from there.
This game really feels like a 2010’s gem that somehow ended up releasing in the 2020’s And then proceeded to get ruined by the current state of the industry
Idk about it pal, the game looks good but I have never been a very hack and slash player myself... O wait there's a Korsica in there, forget it I'm buying this game ASAP, more like right now
This game was absolutely perfect. And the best part is that it shipped that way unlike every AAA game that takes months of patches to become playable. It's criminal that it didn't get nominated for GOTY
Kinda crazy how Chai dead ass just murders the bosses. Feels very weird compared to the cartoonish wholesome vibes of rest of the game. No arresting no sending them to no no realm nope just cold death. At least Korsica didn't get killed she is the best girl.
Little late but THIS GAME made me consider getting an Xbox no other game on that system has ever tempted me that much and I might actually get the chance to play it relatively soon if Game Pass does in fact make it's way to other consoles
Im so glad the game is getting attention Ive never been a big fan of anime-ish or beat games, but this is definitely an exception It needs all the love it can get with all the passion that went into it
Somehow this is the first video to compare Kale with Handsome Jack. That just validated everything you’ve said tenfold Plus giving one of the best reasons to like this game as just ‘Korsica’ is based
Honestly this game made me feel like I was playing the PS2 again, on a CRT TV with a VHS player built in, playing both PS1 and 2 games like Crash Bandicoot 3 Warped or Sonic Heroes. It has that visceral feeling of "Oh shit, this is scratching that itch I never knew I had" in the back of my head, and I personally can't recommend it enough. Also, Korsica's definitely a highlight, because Korsica, Peppermint's a sassball, but we love her for it, and I wish 808 was real. And Zanzo's a fucking Jojo meme through and through, especially as he's voiced by Todd Haberkorn.
this game reminded me of why i love gaming. the sheer passion and love expressed in this game just blew me away. also, super weak point cuz i play guitar irl so i really empathized with Chai and his rockstar fantasies lol.
Very impressive video. Editing is top notch and yes Hi-Fi Rush is my game of the year 2023 (for now). Keep at it you’ll definitely go far with your editing skills and style. Cheers ❤
hi fi rush is what happens when you give a ton of people the time they need to make something they love. and the fact this came from tango gameworks, a company who does not give a shit about established things, like the risk they took with the letterboxing in the evil within one, which i personally loved.
This game is 30 dollars brand new and comes with custom outfits and costumes + a 3D model viewer for all the characters and bots you come across. There's some places where the game will tell you something was cut but in all honesty if you took out those scenes I would of felt like this was one of the more complete game releases in the triple A space in recent memory.
Saying “one two” was MY key to winning Korsica’s fight, if I didn’t do that I would have never seen the light of day again attempting her again and again

I told myself I'd stop after beating the story but it was so fun...i got the 100% the other day after playing it basically every day
i wish i had time to go back and get all the collectibles 🥲 the alternative outfits go hard
You can tell this is going to be a comfort game, for ALOT of people, myself included. The game is a work of art.
definitely. i’ve already gone back and played some more, even after beating it. it’s just so much fun
Played the game because it's just awesome, stayed for Korsica.
I didn't miss a single bot conversation either haha. They all have unique dialogue if you hit them too, so much attention to detail in this game. Not to mention they break the fourth wall when your playing the game for the second time.
5:45 wait until you see the wending machine in Atomic Heart
oh… oh no…
I just finished this game yesterday and OMG I loved it...and Korsica🥰🥰
Bro i honestly love this game its hella fun, im also shit at rhythm games, and bro I completely get it with Korsica, she was fine af.
my man 🤝 he understands
Virgin: Z0MG IT'S CR1NG3 N0 RTX 4K HD!!!
Chad: I play games for fun.
My game of the year game right here, super happy with all the praise people are giving it, also Korsica 🤯
New victim for my husbando pile, he's placed next to Zoro from one piece.
he’s also voiced by one of my favorite voice actors too! i love zanzo
B-but, Hi-fi Rush is my favourite game.
No but seriously though, it‘s at least in my top 10 games of all time. Most of my favourite games win me over in the first few hours. This one won me over in the first cutscene and it somehow got even better from there.
it really is amazing how the game never slows down on pace or quality really. very well crafted
The sooongs! Getting inside the building with "Invaders Must Die" is just a big neuron activation
yes! i forgot to mention that since i had to play on streamer mode, but that song is such a banger
"I don't think ive seen a robot this horny bro."
*laughs in atomic heart*
i finally found out about this 💀
This was also such a banger stream.
i remember seeing you there 🤝🤝 thank you for supporting!
The 5 reasons to play hi fi rush:
1: Great gameplay, music, sound design and comedy
2: korsica
3: 808
4: CNMN
5: did i mention korsica yet?
an actually incredibly good game being... interviewed? whatever, this video format. hi-fi rush has been my favorite game from start to end
yeah my video formats are a bit mixed lol, not entirely sure how to classify them
This game really feels like a 2010’s gem that somehow ended up releasing in the 2020’s
And then proceeded to get ruined by the current state of the industry
Idk about it pal, the game looks good but I have never been a very hack and slash player myself... O wait there's a Korsica in there, forget it I'm buying this game ASAP, more like right now
good man 🤝👑
The Kale fight was just amazing. The fact the perfect drug plays during it is the cherry on top.
Arisaka would have been fucked if we had this version of Johnny Silverhand.
Korsica this, Korsica that. Where's the love for Mommy Rekka?
YESSSSSSSS 😭✨😖
Keep up the work!
will do 🤝🤝
This game was absolutely perfect. And the best part is that it shipped that way unlike every AAA game that takes months of patches to become playable. It's criminal that it didn't get nominated for GOTY
Another W from the King!
i have to make sure it matches my W viewers expectations 👑
Korsica was the reason I decided to try this game. Stayed for the fun gameplay and story. And Korsica.
Korsica supremacy
RIP Tango Gameworks.
Kinda crazy how Chai dead ass just murders the bosses. Feels very weird compared to the cartoonish wholesome vibes of rest of the game. No arresting no sending them to no no realm nope just cold death.
At least Korsica didn't get killed she is the best girl.
dude it’s SO funny. i laughed every time he did it, because i thought it was a one time thing with Rekka. he a cold mfer
Whelp the studio behind is shutting down
You know the Moment you get into the Korsica you really can feel the beat, every hit, every attack and most of all you can feel the music.
🤨📸
it was crazy seeing a LyndonFPS clip here lol Oh how I miss the H1Z1 days! Keep up the amazing work Kels you know I love you bb!
Little late but THIS GAME made me consider getting an Xbox no other game on that system has ever tempted me that much and I might actually get the chance to play it relatively soon if Game Pass does in fact make it's way to other consoles
This is the only game I can think of that rivals Persona 5 in terms of just how much STYLE just oozes off of it
2 years in a row so far the year has started with a banger first it was Hi-fi: Rush then we got Hell Divers 2 what the heck is going on.
Im so glad the game is getting attention
Ive never been a big fan of anime-ish or beat games, but this is definitely an exception
It needs all the love it can get with all the passion that went into it
Favorite song from this game is QA 1MIL Theme both with or without streamer mode
As a DMC junkie, Hi-fi Rush reminds me of the gameplay of DMC and I love every single second of it
Now I wholly recommend you review BULLETS PER MINUTE!!!
Glad someone else thought of sly Cooper. The bosses in particular felt so similar.
sly cooper is one of my favorite franchises. such good childhood memories with 3
Somehow this is the first video to compare Kale with Handsome Jack. That just validated everything you’ve said tenfold
Plus giving one of the best reasons to like this game as just ‘Korsica’ is based
it was immediately the first thing i thought when i saw him lol
Hi-Fi RUSH is a 10/10 MASTERPIECE
no lies detected
this game reminded me of why i love gaming. the sheer passion and love expressed in this game just blew me away. also, super weak point cuz i play guitar irl so i really empathized with Chai and his rockstar fantasies lol.
It's basically dmc anime edition with more emphasis on guitars set in a early 2000s cartoon story lol. I love it.
Very impressive video. Editing is top notch and yes Hi-Fi Rush is my game of the year 2023 (for now). Keep at it you’ll definitely go far with your editing skills and style. Cheers ❤
thank you for the kind words! cheers!
Lets not forget that discount Handsome Jack is voiced by Roger Craig Smith. Literally Sonic the Hedgehog.
Alternative Title: Kelski simping for Korisca for 11 minutes
🫣
hi fi rush is what happens when you give a ton of people the time they need to make something they love. and the fact this came from tango gameworks, a company who does not give a shit about established things, like the risk they took with the letterboxing in the evil within one, which i personally loved.
Idk but this game gives me some Sunset Overdrive vibes dude.
Both awesome games I really recommend
i’ll have to give it a go!
This game is 30 dollars brand new and comes with custom outfits and costumes + a 3D model viewer for all the characters and bots you come across.
There's some places where the game will tell you something was cut but in all honesty if you took out those scenes I would of felt like this was one of the more complete game releases in the triple A space in recent memory.
so much value in one package
things get cut all the time. and its not just because of time restraints.
Saying “one two” was MY key to winning Korsica’s fight, if I didn’t do that I would have never seen the light of day again attempting her again and again
"incomplete" then a halo video appears... that's make me cry
:’)
BTW: Zanzo is the only character we didnt kill... sooo... sequel?
Edit: this aged like milk
