I wouldn't say Jorge's death was in vain. Even though Covenant reinforcements arrived in system shortly after and Reach fell nonetheless Jorge's sacrifice took out an entire CSO class supercarrier. If that was not taken out then it and everything inside of it may have prevented the Pillar of Autumns eventual escape to Alpha Halo.

A discovery I just made; you can make the Falcon section a hell of a lot easier if you kill the gunner on the other side of your falcon and climb in there. That was you don't have to deal with the brutes firing at you from the ground, and you have a near continuous shot at both Banshee groups. The only problem is it means you have to fight the group at the landing zone on foot.
In my run through of this level, a jackal kept spotting me when I went to assassinate the fuel rod brute. If this happens to you as well then try to lure the brute out on the landing platform while you stand up top on the balcony, then use the rocket launcher to blast him off of the platform. Worked for me, maybe it helps someone.
I had the same issue, I got the assassination the first time, but then one of the fuel rod grunts instantly replied by 1 shotting me, when I reset to last checkpoint, it was right behind the chieftain. I went to assassinate him, but then every time after that I couldn't, since I was being spotted by something before I could get the kill. But then my game save must've corrupted when i walked away to eat dinner, cause when I re launched my game and resumed the mission, the chieftain was instead a hunter and instead of 2 shade turrets coming in 1 wraith was dropped... pretty weird...
For anyone having trouble with the fuel rod brute, you can use the gravity hammer to kill him easily. Jetpack up off the balcony, this will cause him to throw a grenade, then continuously smack him until he falls off the edge or dies. I died to him about 20 times and killed him first try this way (shoutout to naked eli)
"Assassinate this fuel rod chieftain" Game as I walk in the door: Checkpoint Brute: *immediately turns around* Accidentally restarting the level was the cherry on top of that banana-shit sundae, but turned out to be super helpful cause I managed to get through on that second go Edit 2: Got a absolute TRASH banshee checkpoint, had to restart a second time (yay..) here's hoping it goes well
I kid you not, I just did the *_exact same thing._* Well, not quite exact. I got the assassination first try, but then after a 20 minute fight with two enemies left, the blind skull screwed me over and I accidentally killed myself trying to shoot a fuel rod gun around a corner. I mentioned the fight was on and off for 20 minutes, yes? No checkpoint. Right back to the chieftain. Except this time he turns around. Muscle memory tells me to go to last checkpoint... Reset the level. Ragequit. This level is worse than Long Night of Solace on LASO.
15:50 for those struggling with that last jetpack jump, you can boost up to a diagonal beam above you and from the corner that jump is 10 times easier for me at least
This comment helped a lot Something you gotta be careful of is sometimes the enemies turn around and start lobbing grenades onto that beam, you CAN survive it if you grab the healthkit and haul buns but it's easier to just stunlock them with the grenade throws
I killed the brute chieftain at the landing pad, got a checkpoint right after. Died to a fuel rod grunt, misclicked and restarted the level instead of save and quit. I was more than a little upset.
If you accidentally used all your rockets before the falcon sections, I recommend picking up a fuel rod cannon from a dead grunt. Instead of giving your warthog gunner the rockets, you can give him a fuel rod cannon and still have him be useful. That's what I did and it worked pretty well.
I did this, but how long did it take to destroy the Wraiths? I feel like my marine has landed like 50 fuel rod blasts and the Wraith doesn't even have a scratch
Great guide as usual, though I have to say that for the final section rather then drive around with a rocket marine I just used the speed run strat (ignore almost all enemy's, activate both rocket launchers and drive straight to the button) and got it on my first try haha.
If you die in the section with the fuel rod brute, you'll restart just outside the door way going to him. You need to be ready when you load in to start moving. Stay to the left a little bit and should be out of the line of sight of the jackel and should still be able to get the back smack. It might take a few tries but you can do it. I ended up having to do it after one of the fuel rod grunts and I traded deaths. You can also pay attention to where the fuel rod grunts die. Once you clear out enough enemies, you can quickly drop down, grab their ammo and jet pack back up and use the fuel rod to kill what remains, saving your rockets.
Thank for this guide too! Managed to beat it in around 45 min (in game) with this guide. This one's my least favorite mission, next one is my fav. Can't wait!
I completed this level without the walkthrough and the most difficult challenge I faced were the wraiths on the last section. It's like they can see you at all times through any solid object at any distance as well as predict exactly what you're about to do lol.
I have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to sneak kill the fuel rod chieftain unless you are silver. That section really took my breath away
In the part with the fuel rod brute, there are three health in the area. One where he showed you, and then one on each side of the building on the second floor.
During the part where you're in the gunner seat, you can actually shoot the marine on the opposite side and be completely safe from the plasma repeater brute. You're sight of the banshees is also much better. Also also the leading for the turret shots is really wide at distance, if you're missing aim further forward. This strat doesn't let you kill the beach enemies but there's an exploitable headglitch rock on the left and DMR ammo on the right when you land.
Just note if you are using jumper jumper. You get more height if you jetpack regularly, pressing jump button then split second later press jetpack button. With jumper jumper, there is a bigger delay between the jump and jet pack kicking in. Thus getting you less height than normal config. You get less of boost/height with jumper jumper.

I’m having trouble with the jet pack jump up to the 2 turrets that explode on death of the grunts did they nerf the jet packs max elevation cuz I can’t get up there 17:02
If you wasted rockets and if the fuel rod didn’t push the Chief off, there’s a sniper rifle (and DMR and Health pack) below the left side of the building with the fuel rod Chief (when facing towards the landing pad). There will be a Brute Major with a concuss rifle across the platform so grab the Sniper before healing. Take out his shields with the plazpistol and it’s a one headshot KO. Also, stealing the wraith at the missile launcher part is easier since the turret passenger are helmet less grunts.
I dont know if im insane or what, but on the part where he jet packs up and assassinates the fuelrod brute, the brute turns around the second i land to the right of the tree and i spend 2 hours trying to kill him
If you end up using the rocket launcher on the first fuel rod brute, there's a second rocket launcher by the first AA switch. You can drive the warthog up there and jetpack and get it before the brutes notice you.
The chieftain at 17:35 doesn't die from assassination? EDIT: Thanks to Jugvir Sidhu below, if you tap the jump-pack right before you get to him you can close the gap and get him - worked first try.
Strats I definitely used: Ran out of all dmr ammo before flight: used a dropped needler and fuel rod to finish the job. Killed the left marine on flacon and manually took care of the landing zone with the marines picking up a dmr from the crate. killed both tanks with warthog/rocks -> killed hammer brute and two other brutes with warthog rocks, ran in pressed the button (somehow didnt die to sticky launcher dude), drove around, flew up the cliff to hit the second one, drove over to the third, jet packed up again and hit the button to quickly finish.
Ok so the good news is I finished exodus. The bad news is it took me 1 hour and 41 minutes, and I finished with a score of -22841. Overall, I see this as an absolute win
@@yougotaknife No, it's not. If you land 6 needles from the needler on an unshielded target, you get a super combine. One trigger press fires two needles with the needler. Now, with the Needle Rifle, it's 3 needles on an unshielded target.
In the final section, I hijacked the wraith under the bridge. Go straight there after getting off the Falcon. Jetpack up into the air (so the wraith has trouble hitting you) and DMR headshot the grunt gunner. Land down from the jetpack and then plasma pistol overcharge the wraith and do the usual stuff to get inside it. It made this section much easier. Use the wraith to clear the entire area and then press the switches. Note that you'll need a plasma pistol for this, but you can pick one up from the grunts that you killed when setting the Falcon down.
Okay, so although it was time consuming and not really the best way to go about it, but on the elevator bit the door that opens to the left where the enemies come from, I essentially used the same kind of tactic as on Long Night of Solace and barricaded it using the weapon crates, so that after having dealt with the enemies coming from downstairs, the others were trapped behind an all but one Brute ended up dying to Grunts who blew themselves up. It conserved resources at least. 😸
A grunt saw me and alerted the fuel Rod chieftain. And that’s right after a checkpoint saved :) so I get to load into the entire group noticing me and have to quickly switch to rockets to bug on outta there meanwhile I have the turrets dropping shortly afterward
17:30 this is classic, I do everything perfectly and the brute doesn't die. He can't be assassinated. I've tried again and again. Every game personalized. Ended up taking like 10 tries killing every single enemy and then toss a coin on whether or not he instakills me with the fuel rod. Had to use a plasma pistol to take his shields and then go all in with rockets and fuel rod until he finally fucking dies. This of course meant no rockets for the next section since I didn't know we were supposed to keep it, so I had to steal a wraith to clear it out.
He can be assassinated, but it's a risky strat, what I do is go check the door and if he's close enough and the room looks safe, you can go for it. But he can't be assassinated if he's aware of you being there. So if you get spotted, get back out since that the opportunity to do that quick kill is gone and you'll have to find another way to kill him. Either being overcharging him and shooting away his helmet. That room is a rough section though.
Same here. Mainly i just dont have enough concussion ammo to do the jump 2x, and I run out of ammo. So i get stuck at that part even though ive gotten to it restarting 5x now. Just running out of ammo, so curious if he has a different strategy
When using the jetpack, to gain more height you want to Jump and immediately start jet packing after your jetpack meter is about 1/2 way down, quickly let off and then immediately restart jet packing. Repeat this step about when your meter has about 1/4 charge left. This trick allows you to reach much higher then otherwise possible.
I don't know how you did it, but no matter what I do, I can't get enough height with my jet pack to go from the eye beam to the balcony. :/ It always stops just short of it.
15:50 My jetpack keeps conking out when I try to make this jump for some reason. I give it plenty of time to regen but just before I clear the guard-rails it stalls and stops gaining altitude.
Got a checkpoint at 22:50 after getting shredded, ruined my run. Someone suggested using the other turret, should've listened. Took me two hours to get there
@@haydencassidy9536 Definitely considered being done after that, thankfully had the patience to go back and do it again😭 beat the whole campaign that very weekend, felt so GOOD
like you said, my checkpont was shit without shields, I tried like one hour in that part until I kill all the banshees, in the final zone I dont know how but the marines killed the people in the Wraith so I used it and all was very easy, thanks
Alright, so I've got a new one: I was playing through on Exodus, about to hit *the last button* to finish the level, but I got stuck by a plasma 'nade. No big deal, save and quit, right? I did...but when i reloaded the LASO playlist, it out me back in *Long Night of Solace*, the PREVIOUS level. In a Sabre, in space! The pause menu shows me as being in Exodus, name and thumbnail and all, but I'm literally halfway through LNoS and the "objective" is take out the corvette engines. Now whenever I try to resume to see what's going on the screen just goes white and throws me back to the main menu. (This happened before and I fixed it by switching from Competitive Score to Time when resuming. Doesn't work this time.) The PC MCC is so weirdly borked, and I think this just ended my LASO run before it ever finished, unfortunately.
Honestly, this one was about as hard for different reasons. I made some bad ammo choices and got really bad banshee RNG when moving to the final area. The banshees would pop my shield from the opposite side when you are stuck looking at the hammer brute. Manage your ammo well and pray for a good banshee setup, and this one will be easier.
My friend and I were playing co op and the pelican would not show up to evacuate the civilians and seemed to soft lock us... do you know why or any workaround for it?
Never heard of that happening. My only thought is maybe there's a grunt or jackal still alive somewhere? Maybe kinda stuck/hidden and pinned up against a wall or something by some debris/wreckage/crates.
For the jet pack part when you jump over the railing from the beam there was enemies up there that insta killed me every time I would go up and eventually the iron skull trick stopped working and it reset me
yeah the fuel rod brute turns around as soon as I enter the room and on my 3. try the game decided to give me a checkpoint on that very moment... Thanks...
well i just ruined the assassination of the fuel rod brute after doing the jetpack jump by landing on the last edge before the top and ended up getting a checkpoint there and the dropship arrived.
kill everything and leave him last. then pick up the gravity hammer and when he walks out, U can knock him off the building with it. That what i did when i failed assassination
I don't know why, but I get audio delays during my campaign, not sure how to fix it. The audio is fine in multiplayer but campaigns audio for me delays all the time and just ruins the experience.
I've tried Halo 4 and so far I'd say Halo Reach is way easier to get into. You get pretty much the entire first level to get used to skipping fights and the end of the level and the 2nd to learn to deal with elites. In Halo 4, you have to pretty quickly learn to deal with elites in the first level and more or less dance around their grenade throws and back smack them. Both are on the easier side though. If you have trouble on Halo 4, Mythic Tyrant made guides for Halo 4 LASO so what I did for my playthrough (not entirely finished yet) was combine strategies based on who did the safer/more effective strategies for a given scenario. Good luck. If you want to do Halo Reach, let me know and I can help you when I am finished with my run. I should be done once he uploads the final mission.

I accidentally restarted the mission but next time i got to the fuel rod chieftain he went down first try! seems it's determined by where you're standing when the checkpoint triggers
I was having a lot of problems on PC as well, something that helped was jumping while running and sliding along the wall for just long enough to gain momentum but shifting to the side a bit at the last second to get on the edge itself.
I find out the problem, I always waited for my jump to be at maximum height before using the jetpack, you should instead press the jump button and the jetpack button simultaenously

The chieftain at 17:35 doesn't die from assassination?
EDIT: Thanks to Jugvir Sidhu
below, if you tap the jump-pack right before you get to him you can close the gap and get him - worked first try.
Strats I definitely used:
Ran out of all dmr ammo before flight: used a dropped needler and fuel rod to finish the job.
If you dashboard quit instead of using the save+quit strategy, you don't lose the points or time
Pro tip: It's only 6 needles for a super combine. So, three tap-fire if all shots land.
wrong
@@yougotaknife No, it's not. If you land 6 needles from the needler on an unshielded target, you get a super combine. One trigger press fires two needles with the needler.
Now, with the Needle Rifle, it's 3 needles on an unshielded target.
@@yougotaknife not wrong lmao
this is gonna be hell.
Me trying to beat the par times on legendary
That Marine did not give a fuck! 😂 Bro really just said "yeah man it's not my problem" ☠️
ODST: You feel like jumpin?
Exodus LASO makes everyone want to jump
Cant wait for the piller of autumn walkthrough. The ending has my completely stalled.
Same here. Mainly i just dont have enough concussion ammo to do the jump 2x, and I run out of ammo. So i get stuck at that part even though ive gotten to it restarting 5x now. Just running out of ammo, so curious if he has a different strategy
Is there something special about using the jetpack to get up behind the brute? Mine seems to never get me above the trim?
When using the jetpack, to gain more height you want to
Jump and immediately start jet packing after your jetpack meter is about 1/2 way down, quickly let off and then immediately restart jet packing. Repeat this step about when your meter has about 1/4 charge left. This trick allows you to reach much higher then otherwise possible.
C Wands thank you I’ve been stuck for like 5 minutes you the real mvp
I don't know how you did it, but no matter what I do, I can't get enough height with my jet pack to go from the eye beam to the balcony. :/ It always stops just short of it.
Happened to me but someone gave a nice solution below : Jump -> Instantly jetpack -> stop mid air and jet pack again. Helped me gain twice the height
feather your jetpack son
15:50 My jetpack keeps conking out when I try to make this jump for some reason. I give it plenty of time to regen but just before I clear the guard-rails it stalls and stops gaining altitude.
Yah bruh you have to jump then instantly jetpack. I nearly broke my keyboard over this segment.
@@billumvaleus2521 Finally got it
@@derpdog3107 My man.
I can't get it either
29:12 anyone else notice how the turret guy us looking any direction but the way he's shooting lol
Absolutely cannot get the fuel rod chieftain to do this. Always spotted by grunts
Got a checkpoint at 22:50 after getting shredded, ruined my run. Someone suggested using the other turret, should've listened.
Took me two hours to get there
Just save and quit bro
@@haydencassidy9536 Definitely considered being done after that, thankfully had the patience to go back and do it again😭 beat the whole campaign that very weekend, felt so GOOD
One Plasma will kill the brutes as well unless they are chieftans, can make some of the areas easier.
i love trying to backsmack a fuel rod brute who always seems to spot me despite no enemies facing me
like you said, my checkpont was shit without shields, I tried like one hour in that part until I kill all the banshees, in the final zone I dont know how but the marines killed the people in the Wraith so I used it and all was very easy, thanks
You make it look so easy
23:03 flying marine 😂
4:58 rip that civilian
I hated this mission on LASO so much. I actually found Long Night of Solace easier.
15:45 um there are enemies as soon I go up there and die
Grenades mate
All those large crates around exodus look like big Master Chief helmets
Guys i have just finished long night of solace in laso, this mission is hard like long night?
matteo procaccini My buddy and I found this level to be much easier than Long Night
Long night made me want to kill myself, this looks like a breeze in comparison.
For me this has been the worse of all.
They must have fixed the ledge when jet packing up to the tower pad my jetpack stops a few meters before the ledge
jump and jetpack at the same time
My friend and I were playing co op and the pelican would not show up to evacuate the civilians and seemed to soft lock us... do you know why or any workaround for it?
Never heard of that happening. My only thought is maybe there's a grunt or jackal still alive somewhere? Maybe kinda stuck/hidden and pinned up against a wall or something by some debris/wreckage/crates.
For the jet pack part when you jump over the railing from the beam there was enemies up there that insta killed me every time I would go up and eventually the iron skull trick stopped working and it reset me
You could also jetpack up from the back on the building and execute the chieftant from behind. That's what i did.
yeah the fuel rod brute turns around as soon as I enter the room and on my 3. try the game decided to give me a checkpoint on that very moment...
Thanks...
restarted the mission, same shit, just this time right form the beginning
and again...
And now I got, in addition, and insta sporning of the wraith with the turrets???
And the second one aswell...
fuck this shit
I ended up using the speedrun strat for the last part and it went by super fast
well i just ruined the assassination of the fuel rod brute after doing the jetpack jump by landing on the last edge before the top and ended up getting a checkpoint there and the dropship arrived.
kill everything and leave him last. then pick up the gravity hammer and when he walks out, U can knock him off the building with it. That what i did when i failed assassination
I don't know why, but I get audio delays during my campaign, not sure how to fix it. The audio is fine in multiplayer but campaigns audio for me delays all the time and just ruins the experience.
Love your walkthroughs. Ive beaten all games solo legendary but have never tried a laso level, what is a good level and or game to start with?
@@andersalstrup3077 i may have to hit you up. With Christmas its definitely busier season so hopefully ill have some free time to coordinate playing, but that sounds great thanks.
@@ChiefNaggleVIII yeah. I've finished my run. I messed up my needle rifle aiming badly on the last level, forcing me to abandon the Completionist's guide for the defense before Keyes' pelican came in. I found a strategy that worked reasonably well in that scenario.
Hope your holidays go well. Just reply here when you have time.
Try halo 3 odst
no matter what health im at i can NEVER pick up health packs. why?
edit: i forgot i had to hold E.... i cant believe i made it this far
same lol, I figured it out when I took a LASO break and went for a par score and the game prompted me smh
The run is not possible Can't do the jetpack to the railing jetpack runs up or enemies kill you before you even get there. when I try
Wait for the phantom to leave. Jump THEN start jetpacking immediately after for a significant boost.
Oh thank you sorry for saying it was fake.
I was unable to kill the brute chieftain, and now he is the only thing left, what should I do?
Nice.
Shortcut at 17:07 doesnt work anymore theyve shortnend the height the jetpack can go it seems.
It just worked for me
I have the same problem.
@@NCNoleMetalhead i had to fight my way round XD
it took me a while to figure out but you have to jump and then immediately jet pack - for some reason you go higher
4:57 5:19 6:08 poor people
Would you recommend a controller for laso for the slight aim assist?
From the experience I’ve had there’s no noticeable difference so whatever you feel like using tbh
frankly long night of solace is better than this my God i have never had such a bad experience with a halo level
For the fuel rod cheiftan I actually grav hammered him off the ledge and died
Fuck yeah dude I'm gonna hop on and do this
really struggling with the fuel rodd chieftain. he always turns around no matter what
I accidentally restarted the mission but next time i got to the fuel rod chieftain he went down first try! seems it's determined by where you're standing when the checkpoint triggers
17:00 cannot land on that edge at all. Immediately slide off so cant recharge my jetpack.
Are you jumping before jetpacking? If not, you want to jump right before pressing and holding down the jetpack button. Gives you a lot more height.
