Of all the obscure spin offs I’d love to see come back, I’d love to see Sonic the Fighters come back. The slapstick animations and the fast paced fighting along with Bark the Polar Bear and his amazing grabs are a recipe for success
6:50 Idk if it counts, but the Wii U version of Lost World did had a proper Multiplayer Racing mode if I remember, which is kinda neat ngl, considering all the hates this game gets everytimes it get brought up, it's one of the fewer things Lost World did got right.
Thanks for this! While I wouldn't personally mind if the Racing/All Stars series continued, the Riders series was such a unique competitor to Mario Kart, and it's surprising that no one made a spiritual successor yet, even though they were never the most popular. It would be nice if they continued both and released Riders games alongside kart racers to please all fans, since the Racing series did actually sell a lot more and got generally better reception. There's also more of them, including the SA2 Kart Racing side mode, and some mobile games. The next one I want bs be a platformer racing game, maybe like Rivals or the Boost Games. It's surprising they haven't done that either, and it was always a side mode. I think Lost World features it as well. I don't think R is a particularly good game, but I enjoy it. But we'll see, maybe Crossworlds will combine both of them, though I can't see how that can work since they're so different, so maybe as two separate modes. The only other most similar racing series I know is SSX. I'm saying this as someone who grew up with Mario Kart. What made this series unique was that they didn't feature cars and they had in depth story modes, and that is something I appreciate as you don't really get that anywhere else, making the experience and characters more memorable, and that goes for the whole Sonic series. Free Riders is in fact my favourite one! Controls always worked well for me. I think it has the best track design in the series, and designing for the Kinect was a really neat idea, but they should have added a controller option. Honestly, optimising for the Kinect must have been really expensive, so in turn the story mode took a downgrade with those cutscenes and simpler plot, though I never hated it as the cutscenes are more expressive than most animated ones and the story is better written and suits a racing game more, plus I like how more characters are involved, plus Metal Sonic. Shame Zero Gravity scrapped most mechanics as it felt boring to play, almost as much as TSR, but it's story would have been really good in a mainline game. The first game didn't have a tutorial, which really affected it's reception, and something that Free Riders did really well. Its graphics look almost as good as Unleashed, and its locations were the most unique. There's just so much untouched potential! I'm grateful there are some fan games and mods that exist. I can't wait for the dx 3.0 update with custom tracks, as it's only in X at the moment! I Also checked out a Roblox fan game, and was reminded of the forgotten battle mode, and I thought, imagine custom battle arenas! Would you want the next game to feature this? I think it could be really good if they had bigger arenas and better items! What sort of story should the next game have? Should it play more like the first game or even feature the Zero Gravity gimmick? Free Riders played more like the first but slightly more simplified and had really cool setpieces and side modes, so I would love gameplay which takes that further! It would be good if they did something like that to make it more accessible, plus a detailed tutorial mode! And if you want more Riders gameplay, at least Speed Simulator has Extreme Gear.
Tbh I do think if they made another riders game, it should take everything unique that worked from the OG Riders and develop it like the fuel/gas system, tricks and the battle mode that they had in the OG Sonic Riders was pretty fun too! A tutorial would definitely go a long way too since it's not the usual formula you'd expect. I never really played Free Riders so I don't know how good it's track layouts and stuff are myself but I might have to look into it now!
@breetontalks Yeah, great idea! I disagree that the gameplay is too in-depth for casual players. While the original was very much a product of its time, it was still not just too difficult for many players, but also too cryptic. In my opinion, Free Riders no Kinect patch is proof that they can make the gameplay accessible while at the same time still maintain the core gameplay of the original. They should just design it primarily to work with a controller and no motion gimmicks, as it does limit some aspects like the drift and the items.
I really love Team Sonic Racing. The team mechanic, the banger music, the vehicle customization, and the funny character dialogue make it a go to game.
I did not have as much fun with TSR, idk if it was just me but the game felt so off compared to Racing Transformed. The vehicle customisation and stuff was interesting tho
Did absolutely NO ONE found a parallel between logo design of "CrossWorlds" and "Sonic Prime"??? Maybe this game is a continuation of a cliffhanger left in the Prime? That would be pretty cool.
someone got info on like the game page and it says drift across dimensions and race across land, sky, water, time and space meaning probably transformed gimmicks will be back
I saw the game page info and I'm taking it with a grain of salt cause it could just be general marketing talk to describe the environments but honestly if it plays more like Transformed with the transformation stuff, I'd be super happy
you know I think a great Sonic racing game would be if you took the racing gameplay of the Sumo Digital racing games but with character gameplay (and roster) of Sonic Forces: Speed Battle
@@breetontalks it would be cool if the made it like you get the power ups and each time you get one of the power ups it has like a 10% chance to be a chaos emerald then if you get them all in one game then you get some cool power up for a set time
Yeah Sonic R as it is isn't great but imo it had the right idea and basis for a good formula that's most suited to what Sonic is about imo. Sonic R 2 wouldn't be anything like Sonic R except in name and premise

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
@ real asf, that's my favourite too

Oh snap, I actually forgot to mention that. I think it's something I woulda really enjoyed if I liked the game and it's gameplay style
I’m so glad Riders is getting the love it deserves recently, great vid dude keep it up
Thank you so much 🙏🏿 and yeah honestly Sonic Riders is a hidden gem tbh it needs to be talked about more

I literally mentioned that in the video LOL
@@breetontalks Yeah, but reading comments to the trailer, others didn't see it too well.

What is your difference between racing gameplay and character gameplay?
I completely forgot the beauty of sonic r we need a sequel Fr or a remaster at least
Honestly a sequel cause the gameplay idea was good but not the gameplay itself
Zero gravity is so peak
Do you think they might add the chaos emeralds?
I'd like to see a return of the chaos emerald since they're such an integral part of Sonic lore but I doubt they'll actually include it
