Couldn't disagree more on the Forces logo. The logo reflects the whole UI aesthetic in Forces, which is going for a very simple style, packing a punch not by doing a lot of things but by drawing your focus to only a few things and hitting you with them in a sleek and powerful way. And it manages to do so really well; the color combination is the most important thing for a logo like this and it's lovely in the Forces UI. Black, red and yellow work together just as well as they do in the Shadow Generations UI, except here they have a more rugged tone to go with the war setting. And the logo isn't boring either, being spiced up by the effects on the red portions, the brush strokes and of course the Resistance logo, which is another masterful way of doing a lot by using little. That star just looks great. Wild take on the Frontiers logos too. You said the "Forces" in the Sonic Forces logo gives you generic Photoshop font vibes, but that's the whole aesthetic of the Frontiers beta logo to me. The "Frontiers" writing in the new one is miles more original, the beta logo has nothing like that. Not to mention that the two lines of the final logo are much closer in length compared to the beta logo, which makes it look a lot less haphazard. I'm probably not the first person to bring up those two takes, but hey, I gotta make my case
That's fair enough, I see a decent amount of people are fans of it and tbh I see what it's tryna do - it just feels a bit out of character for some reason
Couldnt agree more with your takes on forces and frontiers. To hear that the forces and frontiers logos are “out of character” for the respective games is just misunderstanding the entire theme of the games. Frontiers being a simple white with the cyloop cutting through is indicative of sonic and impact on the seemingly peaceful nature of the islands. And to hear that he thought the beta title was better even though all it is is the name with some scanlines really got me heated lmaoo.. personally i felt that that comment just invalidated the entire list for me. I can agree that frontiers is a little boring but to say that the forces logo is boring is straight up blind. Its the only logo thats tilted, has a unique color scheme, and indicative of the game’s themes. This honestly just feels like a ranking based more on whichever logo got more swag, which is fair cs it is his opinion and he did say that. I just think that this ranking is too biased through his personal enjoyment of the game itself
I agree with most of your ratings except for the og Adventure logo. I think it was really cool having the beach motif within the letters and I like the uniqueness of the logo.I would rate it 4/5 myself. Also I would not count "Shadow The Hedgehog" as not being a mainline game as its story is part of the main story and crucial for future games imo.
The ones I disagree with: - Sonic 2's looks terrible imo, those colors are ooooof, 2/5 - Sonic 3's looks peak, 5/5 - Sonic & Knuckles' looks eh, 3/5 - Sonic Adventure's one is great, 4/5 - SA2 Battle, 4/5, same reason why SADX ruins the SA logo - Heroes' is peak, 5/5 - 06's is a 5/5, love the color scheme and slickness - Colors' is also perfect imo, 5/5 - Lost World's fits the game greatly, 4/5 - Forces' logo take is insane imo, 5/5 logo, peak, glad the star iconography has stuck with IDW, Sonic Channel and even the Shadow Generations stage screens - Frontiers' is fine, 3/5 - SxS' logo feels off-centered kind of, love the color schemes tho, 4/5
@EnricoPacu It does, great logo, I disagree that it doesn't feel Sonicy as I personally don't agree with that type of thinking tho. Especially for a franchise as experimental and varied as Sonic, each title has its own identity and is Sonicy just by association, that's kind of imbedded in the brand's identity. What brings SA's logo down a point for me is the texture choice. It's representing Emerald Coast through the font and either Red Mountain or the Mystic Ruins' surrounding formations with the outlines. OK, sure. Why lol? Maybe if we stretch it and say "Well, both are either inside or in close proximity to Station Square so it represents the setting" but I really don't think it accomplishes that goal effectively if that's the case. I find the logo very artistic and interesting but not at all representing of the actual game it's supposed to be a logo of but instead 1-2 levels of said game. Similar to how I adore the Japanese box art of SxS Gens but think it's worse than the main version in its main function, cause the game is literally about Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic and Shadow and Classic Sonic is literally completely absent from the Japanese box art, it legit doesn't showcase the game properly.
I disagree with some of those I think every logo does a good job showing off what the game is about, it's a thing I always think about Sonic games and always analyse the logo for, they always hint what the game is about and do a good job selling that, I think a bad logo would be misleading, confusing or not sell or hint what the game is about Heroes shows the 3 colors of the emblem and the tip has their elements Forces shows the Resistence logo and it is pretty rusty and destroyed, selling the war aspect Frontiers is pretty "cybernetic" (and I do think the final one is better than the beta one, it looks so boring with that simplistic logo) Unleashed in both versions shows the Werehog aspect in the US logo and the adventure around the world in the JP logo and etc. Also, I think it would be cool if you included the JP logo of the original 4 games/Genesis tetralogy, since all of those were the US logos (especially since you included both logos for Sonic Unleashed), the JP logos for Sonic 1, CD, 2, 3 and Sonic & Knuckles are all pretty minimalistic, but I like them
Haven't seen the video but I'm hoping SA2 is at the top because space theme is fitting and is pretty cool but there's also Sonic and Shadow mirroring each other. Yup
Yeah I actually found his video while in the process of uploading mine but at the time before I started it it I genuinely couldn't find another vid LOL
Fire video, I think the O in the Shadow Generations logo looks kind of out of place. I like the idea a lot, but the shape doesn't fit well between the letters, and it has texture to it when the other letters are just flat colors.
For me Forces is 3.5/5 and Frontiers is 0/5 (but that has nothing to do with how I feel about the games themselves, Frontiers is miles better of a game) With that said let's go over some logos that weren't included: Sonic 3D Blast: 3/5 for an attempt at sticking to the classic but not really good choice with the yellow + orange/brown outline Sonic Advance: 3.9/5 for a creative aesthetic but the little bump at the bottom feels weak and uninteresting Sonic Advance 2: 4.3/5 It's literally the same thing but the problem is fixed due to the bump being bigger and expressive and it has a 2 now Sonic Advance 3: 4.9/5 It really indicates the main team mechanic of the game but the 3 feels bland and boring with that font Sonic Rush: 3.8/5 I feel the general vibe, but I wish the text was more centered Sonic Rush Adventure: 4.1/5 The compass feels plain but overall well structured Shadow the hedgehog: 5/5 I don't need to explain Sonic & the Secret Rings: 5/5 Unique, fresh and straight up fire Sonic & the Black Knight: 5/5 I like the big emphasis on the sword, it gives the epic vibes of the game right away Sonic Mania: 5/5 It succeeded where Lost World failed Sonic Superstars: 4/5 Has a nice style, but doesn't quite hit the mark
Personally I would rank the full Sonic X Shadow Generations logo as a 5/5 because it’s really cool in my opinion. The Sonic Forces logo, despite being for a pretty mid game all things considered, is pretty cool so maybe 3/5-4/5. The Sonic Colors logo is a 0/5 though because I don’t like Sonic Colors and the logo annoys me. Also Frontiers logo wise is like a 2/5, I see how bland it is but the frontiers part is cool.
@@breetontalks I mean why should Shadow Generations be consider mainline when Shadow 05 isn't, both are Shadow games, and they are irrelevant in the same level.
