First comment is spot on! I used Scott’s seed to repair areas that aren’t my yard, areas I don’t care about but with that said, I’ve bought better seed and had the same results?! Lack of germination???
Iam no longer allowed at home depot alone lol.....funny my father sent me a pic of a small torch i said what do u need that for he said i dnt but it was on sale and it looked cool haha..men will be men
I failed with cheap seed a couple times. Last reno GCI Blue Heat KBG with the NEXT seeding pack, was hitting it weekly with N. Got germination in 10 days. Mowing in about 6 weeks. This during the burning Memphis late August heat. My lawn responds nice to the smallest doses of Green Punch.
John, one thing I learned some time ago is when buying grass seed, especially from a big box store, is to always check the "use by date" printed on the bag. When I pointed that out to the employees, they were unaware that there were dates on the grass seed bags. Most of the bags that were for sale that day were beyond their dates. I suggest you check the date on your grass seed bag from Scott's. If you order grass seed online, it will probably be fresher and likely to give you better results.
I did check that, the seed was tested February 23 and was due to be cleared by the end of this month. A lot can happen between those time frames. I have the seed in cups right now to see if it’s just a junk bag
Not blasting the store, but sometimes you see a lot of dust on the bags on the shelf.. like they didnt restock with new product yet...and thats leftovers from last year which means seeds haevested the year before most likely...or even signs of water/being stored outside...which would be pretty obvious. Point being, could be a lot of factors.
Seeding is difficult. Slit seeders are very good for germination. I like them better than aerators. I have a tow behind seeder that does a good job getting seed to soil contact.
What was the date on the bag? I couldn't see the tag as well as i wanted to because shaky camera work that I'm guessing is because you didn't want to be noticed.
This has to be the biggest fraudulent company out there. And yet they are judged as the pinnacle of lawn products available to the unaware public. They should be exposed, and held accountable for overhyping there products.
@@Lawncology should I be on the lookout for a📦? I’ve been holding off applying in an area of my yard. If not I may put down a spray application for the time being. Thanks John.
All Scotts seeds bags have a ton of weed seed in it...FOR REAL...Sorry you used it. I learned the hard way myself...
I’d be happy seeing weeds germinate at this point 😂😂

Need some kind of Vole-no-more-t product that repels the voles using some kind of magical enhancement. 😄

Right now I’m thinking along the same lines as you. I’ll know soon enough.
I've never had any luck with Scotts seed....Never
Interesting to see if it sprouts in the pots?? Put some of it in little seedling trays and make plugs... Just a thought. Anyway, keep us posted.
I will should only be a few days

Did you cover the turfmend in grass clippings and spray with a mystery white bottle too?
Yes. I checked the date on the bag, it’s pretty old but not out of spec yet. I’m doing a separate germ test with both materials right now

I’ll check it

Well can always use as bird feed 😂

Not surprised at all by this scotts seed is mostly fill I learned this the hard way for many seasons
It sucks when you want to do something easy that anyone can do/find locally and this is the result.

Yikes… not a good look for old Scott there
Let’s see if it’s a QC thing or just old seed
