    I was thinking that if you placed that second piece of clear on top you might have avoided the gaps, but this works! Good job!

      Yeah there’s many ways to lay it down. I found if I put the stringer side down, there aren’t gaps when I fire it together

    Excellent project, Kevin. I’ll need to add that to my bucket list. Lol. Thanks for sharing.

    I agree using the thin as the base for the stringer is the best idea! Also flipping the stringers when doing the 2nd firing to keep everything straight is a great tip!! Great update to the 1st test!!

      Yes thank you, I like how it worked out without spaces this time! Also saw another artists work that did every other strip facedown which creates some cool depth

    Thanks for introducing us to this technique. My first attempt is currently in the kiln being slumped. It is only a modest size as a soap dish. I am happy with my results, but happier with the technique. From little things big things grow. I will post my results on the Facebook Fusing Glass Fanatics page and acknowledge your UA-cam video as the source of my 'inspiration'. Thanks again.

    Can you tell me what size stringers you used? Great ideas--Thank you for this video!

    Two questions: 1) Where can I find part 1 of this video? And 2) may seem like a basic question, but what kind of base glass are you using? Is that regular float glass or does Oceanside have just a plain clear for fusing? Thanks! I love how you teach! ♥

      Part one or experiment one is on my page. It’s the first attempt at this technique.
      And the base glass is clear from Oceanside. They offer 3 thickness types, 2mm, 3mm and double thick. In this one I’m using 2mm for the first firing laying the stringer on top, then I fuse the strips from that onto 3mm glass. All glass used has to be COE96 compatible.
      Thanks for watching!

    Thank you for sharing. On the first two panels, what was the firing schedule? Are those two panels approximately 3 mm thick?

    • @moltenworksglassstudio8810
      @moltenworksglassstudio8810  9 місяців тому

      The schedule was a tack fuse. Make sure you know what temp your kiln runs at for that. My schedule was:
      250-1000-0
      9999-1390-8
      9999-950-60
      200-800-0
      250-100-0
      Yes the panels are about 3mm thick once fired, I started on 2mm glass. Then, when I fire it on another base all together, I use a 3mm clear to set the strips on.
      Hope this helps and happy fusing!

    I really surprised you put this video up. This technique is taught by at another artist for several years and he has asked people to not share it. You are messing with someone’s livelihood.

    • @moltenworksglassstudio8810
      @moltenworksglassstudio8810  2 роки тому +3

      This technique is not intellectual property by one person. I’m just sharing what I’ve been exploring with glass. Whoever this person is will still have their livelihood even with me posting this video. I do not know who the artist you are talking about is either. Thanks for sharing, but I have seen this done by many artists not just one person

      Nice, he does cool work I see. If I learned this in his class and then decided to make a video I can see where you are coming from, but I simply have seen pieces like this from local artists in seattle and wanted to figure out how they did it by myself without a course. I am just sharing for the hobbyists and I have no doubt his classes will still fill just fine. My intent is to help artists and share information
