7/01/2015 -- EPIC LIGHTNING in St. Louis Missouri -- Strikes multiple times nearby

  • ANOTHER strong storm blew directly over my house today (July 1 2015). The several nearby strikes can be seen building over multiple minutes, but the real action shows towards the end of the video around the 9-12min mark!
Location : South St. Louis Missouri near Tower Grove + Morganford
Facing North / Northwest at approximately 730pm CDT
A truly amazing display of lighting, and thunder which sounded more like explosions.
The storm started off seen as ominous dark clouds on the horizon, with distant rumbles of thunder.
As the storm drew closer, the intensity of the electrical potential in this storm became more obvious -- the surface winds completely dead, humidity topping 95% reaching near full precipitation levels.. temperatures in the mid to upper 80F range.
An incoming wall cloud is seen forming about half way through the video, coming directly towards my location.
Dozens of nearby lightning strikes occurred, several of which were around my house! Action really picks up at the end! @ 9min to the end OMG!
The storm became so intense I sought shelter inside due to nearby lightning strikes occurring with a few hundred feet or less.
Unfortunately this was recorded with my HTC windows 8x camera phone .. which has a slow CCD refresh rate, thus several of the flashes fall between frames, producing a cut off "flat line" effect. You can still make out the overall flashes regardless of the CCD's inability to capture the quick nature of several of these flashes.
Certainly one of the more intense nearby lightning storms I've ever been through.
Another storm blew through just the other day (June 28th) ... again slamming our area hard.. with a brunt of the storm hitting our neighborhood, it took out my neighbors tree while I was recording!
    See that storm here:

You'll have to follow your first instinct when lightning is getting too close. You don't get a heck of a lot of warning but suddenly the hair on your arms and legs stands up and you need to get low and break the circuit quickly. Drop to your knees and get inside.

This should be a warning to: disconnect tv's, computer ac lines and internet modems,
etc. Disconnect telephones from phone line, pull out transformer from wall.
Never allow anyone to talk on the telephone during such storms.Use common sense.

As a big thunderstorm enthusiast and weather amateur, what I think many people don't know is that those big CG lightning strikes that are striking right next to this guy's place near the end of the video are positively charged ones that originate from the sides of the middle and upper parts of this big cumulonimbus cloud tower / organized storm (which the head is likely above 40,000 feet from the ground and since it's the summertime).
They're a lot more powerful and bigger than the negatively charged lightning strikes that usually happen under the base or in the core of the storm cell that was still a good ways from him in this video.
Awesome lightning vid. Wish this was at night though..
I saw lightning like this at night and so frequent before it came overhead that I had not seen in 10 years where I live last year especially during the spring and it was awesome, but unusual of course. I should upload that one I took back in mid-April, on here.

    • @blick182
      @blick182 6 років тому

Al EC you’re spot on there, the center of the lightning storm (and where the -ve lightning forks are striking) is still a bit further away beyond those tree tops and horizon, where it is much darker and with the huge downdraft under and beyond the roll cloud.
Around the middle of the video when the +ve lightning is striking very near, it appears the strikes are coming from the outside tops of the cumulonimbus/anvil cloud cell and flying straight down through the lighter coloured outside clusters of rapidly growing updrafts of cumulus / cumulonimbus clouds and thundering down to the ground!
Very dangerous type of lightning that catches a lot of people out, incredibly scary if you’ve had a close shave! The noise is incomparable to anything!

Mane that storm was intense with them excessive frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes we get those type of storm down here in the southeast in the late spring and into the summer but mane if conditions was really really ripe for a major tornado outbreak? that storm would have spell trouble for y'all folks the way that lightning and thunder was going on and sounding but i guess luckily conditions weren't ripe for tornadoes is i'm right? and thanks for the video

  • @NicholeVaughnSunnyGirl
    @NicholeVaughnSunnyGirl 9 років тому +6

I'm so glad you mentioned how different the thunder & lightening is sounding, etc. I've been telling people here in Phoenix, for the past 3-4 monsoon seasons that something has seriously changed in the way that the storms (lightening/thunder) is acting and sounding.. It almost sounds very un-natural..? Also, I was born in KCMO, and spent lots of my time growing up there. A week ago, being there, during one massive storm- losing electricity, etc. My 95 yr. Old grandmother made the statement that she has never in her life seen or heard a storm like that..? Well, that says a lot, cause she's lived there her entire life, and been thru several tornados, etc. Something has changed, without a doubt. But, just wanted to tell you, I've been noticing the same anomalies here in AZ. Since about 2011.? Don't know exactly why, other than geoengineering.

For those of us that watch ALL signs and now the pattern and the voice of the Thunderbeings... it has changed and with the Maka Ina (Grandmother Earth) beginning to re-heal herself in this cleansing, they now are traveling Horizontally in Father Sky then Vertically. And their voices are truly speaking a new language. Wopila for the voice and sharing. Toksa

On the drive to work early one morning, about 5am, I drove through a lightning storm so severe I literally thought I was going to be struck any moment. Repeated, incessant strikes all around me made it seem like I was going through a time warp or something. There was no rain, or wind, just lightning. I've driven in terrible conditions before: tornadoes/large hail/blizzards, but this was by far the scariest driving experience I ever had.

200 Quakes in Iceland since last night:
    icelandreview.com/news/2015/07/01/two-hundred-earthquakes-southwest-iceland
Magnitude 5 quakes in Greenland: very alarming!
Glacial lakes are rapidly draining because of the rapid melting of the ice and snow beneath the glacial lakes - bigger and bigger drain funnels allow the glacial lake water to rush downward - which rapidly erodes the ice tunnels which causes them to get wider which causes the melting to escalate which creates larger ice tunnels which melt even faster, etc. Glaciers are melting at a record pace - gigantic calving, ice bergs and their tsunamis are expected - meanwhile Arctic sea ice is rapidly melting which results in ocean waves that break up the ice even faster.
Human populations along Atlantic coastal areas and their rivers, from Canada to Florida, should prepare for massive flooding - migration from the northern hemisphere is strongly recommended as glacial melt from Antarctica's recent record melt is racing toward the equatorial bulge and will soon reach coastal regions of the Caribbean and Florida - as the snow melt from Greenland also arrives - the collision of glacial melt from the north and south is expected to cause massive flooding of Florida's coastal region.
The increase in quakes continue to alarm glaciologists who report that the melting and adjustments going on beneath the surface of the ice sheet could soon be catastrophic.
Pack and leave before it's too late.

I can hear someone feverishly trying to finish mowing before the storm hits. lol That looks like some serious cloud to ground positive (+CG) lightning. There are some really good, recent studies on it. Some of it can be like "super lightning" or "mega lightning" with enough power to damage aircraft. There was a sailplane in Germany that was obliterated by a bolt of super lightning and luckily the guy had a parachute on.

My sista the Most High showed me this ,he was bringing very large tornado size lighting upon the earth. It's was nighttime, but the lighting was so bright that it lit up the whole sky.
I also had a second vision, that ,a pillar of fire was coming towards me, I was trying to get away from it,I ran into my shower grabbing the shower head ,I started approaching the pillar of fire, it seems that the Most High was showing me something, I came in front of the earth, so he throws his fire towards me, I then start spraying the water at the fire .This was spectacular seeing this because the fire and water mix creating lighting. This was his judgments, because the lighting was striking the earth.

***** Yes, VERY strange for the valley this time of the year. A month ago, it was in the 90's, too, for a day or two. That was EXTREMELY odd for here. Usually, it is still gray, drizzly and cool with highs in the 60's and only begins to warm-up during the last week of June or beginning of July. We usually do not experience this type of weather until middle July through August, and then, only for a week or so, then it is over.

@@laurariner8960 Look again but it can. It's more about the conditions and less about the location. This is lightening we're talking about...... weather by large is mostly unpredictable do to it being nature (wild).
