Wow,terrific storm footage. I could watch this stuff for hrs! We don't get those impressive supercells here in the UK much, which has both good & bad points I guess. Only once have I seen a localised rotating thunderstorm, with the remnants of Hurricane Bertha I think. I got very excited but it fizzled out before getting too intense.
Great storm video footage and documentary with the satellite images of storm intensity. My brother lived in New York and he rarely got thunderstorms like this. We are both from North Texas, where supercell thunderstorms like this are fairly common, along with non severe thunderstorms and rain showers during Spring and Fall. We have had severe weather like this as late in the year as November. When I get a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING alert on my phone, I will usually park my car in my local shopping mall parking garage until the storm passes. If it's in the middle of the night, I will go to the Sam's Club/ Wal-Mart covered parking area and watch the storm from that safe area.
11:56 - I literally was gesturing at the screen for you to close that door. This had me a bit scared and I'm just watching it on UA-cam. This sure did not sound like your typical thunderstorm. There was something special about it in a very dangerous way. Like "mother nature isn't fucking around, gloves are off" dangerous. I'm glad you made it through ok.
You are one very brave soul! I fear thunderstorms unfortunately (astraphobia). However, the video of these lightning strikes is incredible. I definitely would not be out there filming it. I would have stay at home. Thank you though for capturing this. Great work!
Gotta agree with you, I'm in Franklinville and we get nothing!! This year was kinda odd, we did see some action, that MSC went thru here, dont know how you guys fared with that one, wasn't much to write home about here, the deracheo a few years back was kinda interesting, these squall lines move toward us, then break in two most of the time, we caught part of that, but the main energy in the summer is up to the north, hence the main attraction in the northern part of the state. Not much in the way of lightning, either, just plain old rain here.
I remember that storm! I was at college in millersville (Lancaster, PA) finishing my spring semester and that storm passed to the south of campus but we could see the updraft and mamattus clouds
The best storm I ever witnessed was in 1968, and havn't had one since then to match it. There was wind, continuous ctg lightning, hail, the whole thing lasted about a half hour, now THAT to me is a severe ts!!!!
That's a awesome lightning show imagine that mixed with thunder over Louisville fireworks show that would be a mega light show right there including loud thunder
Could hear the siren in the distance. I wish I could experience such weather, the UK has no such thunderstorms, we just have regular ones. I was once in South Sardinia, Italy and we were in for a treat. It was very dry and humid for most of the holiday until all of a sudden, we had a rotating thunderstorm which caused a waterspout nearby. I wasn’t scared, but my mum was. It was insane to see such phenomenons up close!

Hello, and thank you for mentioning that. I hope it's not too much trouble, but could you edit that comment with the link to that video please? This is awesome! I would have loved to have been there to see this storm! I am like you; I love thunderstorms and will go out and chase them as long as they are not tornadoes! I used to live in Central Florida as a child(1969 to 1971) and we had summer thunderstorms almost every day. I currently live in Southern C.A. but I go to Central Florida once every summer being it is my favorite summer vacation spot. We lived in a city named Satellite Beach which is not that far from the cities of Cocoa Beach,Cape Canaveral, and Kennedy Space Center in Titusville. NASA has had to scrub or cancel many space shuttle and other rocket launches due to thunderstorms in the area. Lightning is a real hazard to rockets with all of the rocket fuel they carry in their tanks. I too own a weather radio just as you do. I bring it with me every time I go on vacation, especially in Florida. Was that a tornado siren I heard off in the distance around 8:00 or so? Great video once again! Keep up the good work! Be safe!

In Morris County and I swear I feel like every time a storm is on it’s way and nasty in PA border, it just fizzles out by the time it gets her. My friend used to joke the NJ air is too toxic for even a storm to survive. I agree! Lol
Typically NJ deals with a marine layer of cooler air thanks to the ocean and is further east and typically further removed from mid and upper level forcing
Alexander Bronsky Wow. It's insane how much the temperature can drop after a storm! In Mexico, in January 6 of 2013, the temperature was 100°F. We got a mean thunderstorm but the amazing part was that, it was so warm that the rain would evaporate as it hit the ground (it was actually pretty cool to see how it evaporated). There was heavy rain and hail. The storm only lasted for about 45 minutes. After the storm, the temperature had dropped to 64°F and it was still pretty early during the day.
Dude me and you r one in the same brother from a nother mother, I say the same thing when a bad ass storm is approaching. Please hold together!!!!. And most of the time it doesn't . It's seems to disappear into theater right when it gets to our county line
