Thank you so much for this video, mate.🙏🏿 Polo’s are still, and will forever be a big W in South Africa 🇿🇦.
🤣 Polo nation 😂. VW POolo. Bought by people who dont know a thing about cars who bought their licenses and drive Ike ar$eholes 😂
As a 2009polo owner, would like to thank you for this lovely video.
Haha no worries Mustafa!
My first car a few years back was a 2014 6R, immediately fell in love. Broke my heart selling it but I bought a mk7 golf. The golf lasted about two months as every time I watched a polo drive by I wished I was in it. Now as I type this I’m sitting in my 3rd polo - a 2015 6C GTI and have a big fat smile on my face, greatest wee car in the world!
My heart broke when I had to scrap my 22 year old Polo mk3 classic highline. Seriously, I almost cried. In my country they say "old love doesn't rust" They're wrong - My Polo was rusty. Now I have Polo mk4 Cross my second love.
what a coincidence, should be picking up a bread van for my 16th to work on in the next few weeks! love the content
Sick, hope it’s a good one!
@@CarsWithJB Me too aha
They look like really cool little cars mate hope it goes well for you.
@@olivereaster2778 thank you mate!
@@JoeSamways hope it goes well, I have an 87 mk1 caddy pickup I’m working on too aha
Adored my polos - my first car was a black 6n2 1.4 TDI with a Gti kit. Then upgraded to a 6C 1.0 blue motion which was so faultless that it kept me in the VW world and I upgraded to a Golf R back in 2019
Here in Brazil, the MK4 9n2 use PQ24 platform ,this car was a game changer for VW Brazil,as a owner a 2011 Polo ,is a great car.excellent daily driver.
Excellent video, great history about a great little car !
Great video, really enjoyed seeing how the cars have evolved. Nice to see you showing love to the 6c gti as a owner of one!
10:27 Polo Classic! My godmother had one of these and I loved it so much!
As a Polo owner myself I love this 😄
Loved it my brother! You should do a video on what the best/reliable first automatic cars are for people with tight budget, I mean, you’d be the first UA-camr to do it and there’s a rise in automatic licence only holders, fill the gap my brother
Great video, some things are new for me even I know the most of the history of Polo.Proud owner of Polo Classic 1.4 from 1999.It is my third, the cheapest car with so many space and very reliable in this times with nowdays car.✌
This video was so interesting, appreciate the hard work👍
I think it’s pretty cool that the MK3 GTI Polo came with Xenon lights as standard, in around 2000! I have been looking at the MK5 facelift GTI as something I might buy in the future, coming from a MK4 Golf. Although I’m not sure what to do yet. But it does seem to be a very neat little package!
Cheaper tax than my Golf, quicker, an extra gear, and LED headlights. Only drawback really is the initial cost and slightly less space (not that I need it anyway)
I recommend going for the 9N3 mk4 polo with the 1.8T 20V. This has a 'cup edition' wich has 180hp and a loads of tuning room. Had this car for 2years until somebody crashed into mine🥲
@@wellzy9819 damn that’s annoying. I’m not sure they made the MK4 Polo Cup edition for the Uk market 🤔 or if they did they are extremely rare. I did end up getting a Polo 5 GTI. With the 1.8TSI the later 16V engine EA888. Had it a year. Love it!
@@danl4252 sounds like a dream. Good choice, it's a stunning car. What color did you get it in?
@@wellzy9819 Thankyou. Yeah I do like it. Got a few bits to do. Want to get some Michelin tyres fitted and some stone chips painted. I got it in ‘deep black pearl effect’ it also has the optional alcantara heated interior.
@@danl4252 is that the same as black magic, pearl effect? Give it your own flavor a bit for sure
ahhhhh this is the start of a banging series
Love the video, absolutely brilliant!!!!
Amazing research and presentation. You've just saved me hours of wikipedia research on a car I didn't even knew I ws curious about. Liked and subscriped. This channel is about to blow up
Thanks for the kind words!
Yes mate, great to see our footage in action 👌🔥
I once owned a 1992 G40, the most fun car I even owned. I would love to have one again but they are so rare now.
Great video! Got my first car back in August got a polo mk5 2014 6R! I absolutely love it and I’ve got my driving test in a couple of weeks just hoping I pass 🤞🏻
as a 1995, 100k kms polo owner, would like to thank you for this lovely video too!
I have an mk3 polo i realy enjoy that car
Mate what a great addition to all your other series going on this channel has a bright future, really well done u nailed this one this series could get a lot of subs for u :) well done mate hats off to the best UA-camr we got out here 👏
Haha cheers for naming it man!
@@CarsWithJB no worries :)
I own a Mk 5 Polo GT TSI, 1.2 TSI with DSG, it's amazing for a small car. Very quick, very stable at speeds over 120kph, it doesn't even feel like it's going that fast until you look at the speedo and you are well north of 150-160kph, over the speed limit and very dangerous speeds for Indian highways, though it's much safer compared to regular indian car market, and is incredibly fun to drive. It's the best small car that one was able to buy in India as now it's discontinued. The new facelift (Mk 6) was never launched in India with people preferring mini SUVs which is sad, imo.
This was very interesting, defiantly do more!
I really enjoyed the video 😁! As it reminded me of the MK3 Polo I owned nearly 16 years ago. I loved the car, hardly put a foot wrong until the ECU played up badly a few times 🤦🏻♂️.
Just one part of your video which stuck out, was when you were talking initially about the Polo's competition in the car market. You mentioned the Citroen AX, but a Citroen 2CV clip had been edited in?
Very good video overall though, your passion for the car and make come through really well!
thanks for bringing that ad to my attention - freakin' brilliant!
This makes me miss my Polo. Great video JB
Used to have a Mk1 Golf but 1994 model. It was so nice.
Sick start to the new series
Had a mk3 g40 & gt in the late 90s great cars to drive
*_Yes._* New series. Love it.
There was also polo gt tdi130/ same as vrs. A glorious car and with a little remap eat gti' s for lunch. But return 55 mpg. I miss mine😥
Well as a guy who owns a 2017 Clio I would love to see a video about my car... How the car was originated from the Renault 5 to what it became today and how the styling of the car took a complete turn from the mk3 to mk4. Great video as always!
I have one as well, a 2016 Renault Clio GT, Best supermini i've owned yet.
You forgot the MK4 Polo 1.9TDI😅 a legend
I’ve owned a Mk4 1.9TDI (bug eye) and the Mk5 GTI and once it came to trade in I ended up with a Mini Cooper S as the MK6 had outstretched the compact 3 door hatch I had loved, also although still very well built I find later VW’s don’t quite have the same premium feel they once did, like the big plastic insert on the dash which can look ok but equally feels somehow cheaper
Volkswagen did a successful run of polo in India from 2010-2022 and played a major role in reviving the Indian Car community
Lucky to have a MK5 polo
It will surely be missed by us ❤🇮🇳
Nice vid, Love the Polo Dune, such a cool car
Really like this style of video. It’s a good length and doesn’t get too boring despite the polo being a fairly boring car lol. Looking forward to more
Thanks mate. Love the Polo!
I’ve had 4 polos I absolutely love them and can’t imagine ever changing, here’s hoping they make an electric polo if I have to switch to that! Thanks for the video!
Great video!
I Own 1976 vw polo mk1 and 1993 polo g40 Genesis:) i Love them!
Smashed it mate, hope for a Fiesta video soon, my uncle would love a Subaru Impreza video but I don't know if he'd end up watching it lol
I own a polo mk2 facelift the "steilheck" version with a 1L engine and I can gladly say i love it
This just made me love my 07 polo MORE X
Loving the featured cars
VW x
Just purchased a brand new Polo TSi with DSG - fantastic car - smooth, fast, quiet and light on petrol - an evolved vehicle. Polo is the best selling vehicle in South Africa for many years.
I had a G40 on a H plate, “1991” and it was one of the best handling, of any car and was a scream to drive, one car that slipped under the radar at the time
10/10 would watch again
That thumbnail is unbelievable boss. Fair play
That's alot of info on Polo's! Did not know any of it and I just bought mk4 ph2 last week after driving it as a budget rental for two months. Mk4 ph1 Joy and mk2 ph2 Cross look fantastic imo, look very mature for a tiny car like that.
Great video! I own a polo 9n and i stil find it better looking than a 9n3 .. my mom got a 9n in 2006 and sold it to me in 2023 and i will drive it until it heart stops beating. It only has 136.000 km on the clock
Lovely video for an 03 9n owner
I just bought a 2013 mark 5 polo and was wondering where the best place to get mods are, front bumper, rims etc
Great video. I have 2014 Polo.
Amazing video!!!! More generation videos like these :) (maybe like audi 80/a4, vw passat or golf history)
More coming soon!
Need to do the golf next
When I was a kid, mark 1 Polo's were a common sight but I can't remember the last time I saw one. They were a cool looking thing.
Hi mate, will you ever produce cars with jb decals? I’d buy one!
Slightly off question but where I am - they don’t have the Mark VI polo. We still have the Mark V polo and no official word on Mark VI yet. Are the differences between mark v and future gens actually that significant that I should wait it out? Potentially a year or so. I really need a car soon and I love the polo mark v.
I’ve got a polo mk 3 and it’s ace. So stable through the corners and always predictable
When I was youg my mom had a red Polo MK3 then she sold it and bought a Peugeot and after years of Peugeot ownership in 2018 she bought herself a red Polo AW and last year I bought myself a Polo GTI AW. The Polo is a fantastic car
Sick vid g
Cheers as always my dude!
You know South Africa loves VWs and the Polo when you see a lot of footage in this video is from South Africa
Hey I really liked your video, Im from Chile a country in LAmerica and own a VW Polo Classic that was manufactured in Argentina in 2001.
Theres no much information about the name of the engine, but its a Sedan 1.6 and I must say it´s a very reliable and fast car
I own the Polo V GTI Facelift - 3 door in white and I Love this car. And it is great to hear some good words about it because in the car scene I feel like it has never been recognised. That‘s good for prices but maybe bad for long term parts availability?
You should do a beemer cause that is a car manufacturer with fantastic history
My cousin’s first car was a Mark II facelift Polo Catalyst (I think it was an L reg) back in about 2007/2008. He bought it off my Nan’s hairdresser and he used to take me to school in it back in the day. He got rid of it after about a year and had an MG F, which he wrote off not long after
i absolutely love the harlequin polo
It’s mad isn’t it!
very interesting video, just got a 2009
In 2015 I got a base model 2004 Polo, with the lowest power 1.2 single cam 3-cylinder engine. Back then it had done 81k miles, now we're in January 2023 it's done 175,000 miles, so in a few months I'll have put 100k on it, and in that time the engine and gearbox have never been opened, to my knowledge it's still on the original clutch.
It's been used for fortnight long family holidays in the highlands of Scotland and around Europe, it's done the Nurburgring, has performed very well in various grass auto tests, done daytrips from Cumbria to Hertfordshire and multiple weekends from Cumbria to Cornwall and now I've got roof bars to carry longer things.
I can't really say it's doing very well for a £1,200 car bought on ebay because it's doing very well full stop.
Can we have a Subaru impreza beyond the badge?
On my list!
Does anyone know which polo was the first to come in automatic?
Im putting the splitter on my 9n3 tomorrow !!!
Can you do one on the golf next?
I love mine despite some drawbacks. Of course, these days it is the size and weight of the original Golf if memory serves, so there is that.
I have a nl 6.
Naaeeec work!
Nice video!
We do get to see the Polo in the US, specially near the border towns like El Paso and Nogales with Mexico when they come visiting in their Polo's. Also get to see a few Dacia's and Renaults.
Yeah super cool. I have a mk3 cl 1.4 and it’s super cool
as owner of a 9n3 polo gti with 260hp and former owner of a 1.4 16v polo i can confirm that it sure is a great car. superb reliability
Im going to buy a volkswagen polo 2008 9n with 80000km (europe). It is a good car?
@@flaviosousa6170 what engine are you gonna get man? the 9n3 is overall a really good and reliable car, there are not many flaws with it. my gti has over 220.000km right now and the 1.4 16v i used to drive has about 260.000km and my little sister still drives it daily. the bushing of the wishbone gets porous depending on your driving style. the rear shocks and the trunk lid damper tend to give in over time and the rear window wiper gets porous quite quickly. but these are easy fixes.
@@levi9n321 i think its 1.2 engine
Is there gonna be a video about the Honda HR-V line?
Really apreciated the citroen ax picture
Is there any difference between the golf and the polo?
Thanks for sharing ..
Do a video on the vw lupo! Now that's a car I want to bring to the state's!
I have a Polo GTI 6C can confirm perfect car
i love the mark 5 too , they have retained their value even in the second hand market
Ayy this vids a BTEC up to speed.
Nah jokes aside good video fella would be a good series to keep going
Series 3 is classed as a mk 4, also you failed to mention the Mk4 estate model
when mark 7 will come ?
What about my 2005 130hp,1.9 , TDi , PD. ?
most of the cars you shoed were from poland and there is a lot of older cars there. Im from poland but currently in the uk. Its strange that whats cheap in poland is really expensive in the uk.
The Ibiza had the Golf 3's engine bay and the Polo's rear suspension.
The Classic and Variant were just rebadged Cordobas.
The issue with the engines is that, because the rails are closer together, there's no space for the larger gearbox of the EA827 family.
That's also the reason there was no 1.9 TDI Polo 6N, only SDI
Imagine if there was a Polo 6N 1.9TDI ...
@@PatalJunior Well, there wasn't
My current car is a 2009 MK4 Polo sport limited with 1.9TDI 130HP engine. 300 examples only sold in france, difference being aggressive body kit, exhaust, interior max out in options, rims, suspension tuning and of course 1.9TDI 100 or 130HP engine only.
S/O for mentioning the Polo Vivo 🇿🇦. It is a sale success here in South Africa. The MK 4 has gone out of production and the outgoing MK5 is the new Polo Vivo in South Africa 🇿🇦.
They're the plague on our roads. Bought by people who bought their licence and think this is "a nice car" 😂
proud owner of MK V....with 1.0TSI...110hp,175nm....6 speed manual....as MK V was sold till 2022 in India...and we havent got the latest gen coz of some stupid taxation policy for cars over 4m
Just worth a mention, that Small but tough ad is not an official VW advert!
I had a 1976 polo. Took me all over the country. £18 to fill the tank Can only dream of those prices. Also had a Derby.
Its missing the vw polo 16v which was awsome. Well i have mine from 1997 with dohc engine
The polo mk timeline is confusing. Isn't the mk5 in this video actually a mk6 6C?
