I have been looking at the MK5 facelift GTI as something I might buy in the future, coming from a MK4 Golf. Although I’m not sure what to do yet. But it does seem to be a very neat little package! I own a Mk 5 Polo GT TSI, 1.2 TSI with DSG, it's amazing for a small car. Very quick, very stable at speeds over 120kph, it doesn't even feel like it's going that fast until you look at the speedo and you are well north of 150-160kph, over the speed limit and very dangerous speeds for Indian highways, though it's much safer compared to regular indian car market, and is incredibly fun to drive. It's the best small car that one was able to buy in India as now it's discontinued. The new facelift (Mk 6) was never launched in India with people preferring mini SUVs which is sad, imo.
Just purchased a brand new Polo TSi with DSG - fantastic car - smooth, fast, quiet and light on petrol - an evolved vehicle. Polo is the best selling vehicle in South Africa for many years.

Derby is pronounced "darby" 🤦🏽♂️😏 They didn't introduce the stop start in the 80's either, but it was developed and introduced to VAG Group cars in the "naughties". The latest addition to my collection of VAG collection of cars is a 5 door 2001 Polo Classic Saloon (Derby) TDI, with 107k on the clock, that shares the same platform as the Mk3 Golf, Mk2 Caddy, Seat Cordoba, Ibiza and Inca (van), that I bought as a barn find (parked in a barn for 5 years, covered in bird poo) project, that someone was about to break for parts on Facebook. For the MOT (which it passed this October 2022) I fitted a new clutch kit, new front disks/pads, a CV boot and changed a headlight bulb. The only other addition has been an Alpine bluetooth head unit, to bring it upto date a little plus a mop and valet. The Cordoba is the exact same model as the Polo Classic, with a few minor differences I.e. the rear lights and lock location of the boot and dash. The front end is identical, as is the running gear, transmissions under the bonnet. With its 1.9L TDI engine my car is a lot of fun to drive and surprises alot of new cars off the lights (when the mood takes me), plus it will run on vegetable oil without modifications during milder weather (spring/summer), if need be. 😉 Mk1, Mk2 and Mk3 Golf, Seat Arosa, Polo Mk1, Mk2, Mk3 6N/6N2 and Lupo wheels are all interchangeable too with my car as long as they're the 4x100 fitment, which is good if you get bored with the look... Mine is on Mk3 Golf Convertible wheels at the moment which I picked up for £50 with tyres! 😏 The interior is the same as a standard Polo 6N2, but again it is interchangeable with the models named above, only the ones from 1994 onwards though. All in all it's a rare, unusual nippy, fun but practical car to drive daily, that I'm glad to have saved from the crusher. 🙂
I'm an American, and I always wanted a Polo. When Volkswagen came close to exporting the Polo to the U.S., I patiently waited for its American debut so I could buy one, and that never happened. Canada has never gotten the Polo either. Now VW has just taken away the base Golf from the U.S. and Canada, leaving us with only the more expensive GTI and R. I'm pissed off. 😡🤬

Mk1, Mk2 and Mk3 Golf, Seat Arosa, Polo Mk1, Mk2, Mk3 6N/6N2 and Lupo wheels are all interchangeable too with my car as long as they're the 4x100 fitment, which is good if you get bored with the look... Mine is on Mk3 Golf Convertible wheels at the moment which I picked up for £50 with tyres! 😏
The interior is the same as a standard Polo 6N2, but again it is interchangeable with the models named above, only the ones from 1994 onwards though.
look at that thumbnail bro its insane did u make that
Haha cheers man, yeah I did!
Ayy this vids a BTEC up to speed.
Nah jokes aside good video fella would be a good series to keep going
Hi mate, will you ever produce cars with jb decals? I’d buy one!
Series 3 is classed as a mk 4, also you failed to mention the Mk4 estate model
6:01 - I think someone stole your AX pic and left you a rusty 2CV instead ☺
Haha well spotted - a 2am job 👀 trust you to see it though!
@@CarsWithJB Only time I've ever been stopped by the police was in an AX so I had to spot that one! ☺ They thought it was stolen since it was the middle of the night with 3 students in the car!
Dont see the Polo GT mentioned
Yeh, I've got a blue gt 17 reg. I've had a tuning box(for more power) and a peddle kit (for better throttle response) fitted, it's now knocking out just over 180 hp and just wants to fly off the line. Great little car
