I love this video so much. I started watching it when I had just applied to work as a gate agent for an airline and here we are now, still watching this one month later, I got hired and currently on training!!
Hello, I am looking towards ways to start working for an airport without aviation background, even if i am pursuing towards being a pro pilot. Would volunteering work?
Sinoti Yo You are awesome. I’ve spent the past couple hours watching through your videos. You seem like an amazing person I like your personality and I shared this video on my channel with all my subscribers. I myself am into elevators and anything travel related I have always loved aviation and what goes on behind the scenes.
Gate agents. Always be kind to your gate agents. Last time I wen through LAX on Delta I purchased 3 Starbucks gift cards and gave them to the agents on duty. You all have some of the hardest jobs out there and I only wish for the best.
Yariel Mejias same! Love to other young people already so involved in future careers! I want to be a gate agent and then eventually be a flight attendant! Maybe even a pilot after that!
Thank you so much for sharing; I work for another airline as a gate agent so it's interesting to see what it's like on the other side of the concourse so to speak (You can actually see who you're working for in the upper left at 3:29 😅)
I appreciate all you do for us!!! I’m a flight attendant for another airline - you guys are amazing and I appreciate you. Thanks for showing us a day in your life 💙✨🛫
I did 27 years as a gate agent with UA, then the purge happened and they dumped all 100 of us in our station In the end best thing ever happened, get my free flight for life , and work for the Feds now making way more money & benefits
Kudos to you Sinoti!👏 Thank you for letting us see what its like to work as a gate agent. It's not an easy job and you definitely have to have patience of a saint. That's why I make it a rule to always be nice and courteous when I fly.😀
Sharon G no problem! I thought it would be fun for others to see what goes on behind the scenes. It’s people like you that make my day at work! Thank you for being an awesome person :)
Vega I think UAL and the other carriers should commission this and these clips as real advertising opportunities. Its a great way to show the world how difficult your lives are even if all the passengers and cargo clients handle you well.
Thank you for an interesting video. I just graduated from two weeks of training and I already enjoy working as a Passenger Service Agent. I have yet to learn all the ins and outs of being a Gate Agent
Hey Sinoti! I loved this video! I am beginning my journey for an airline (looking up to the sky and looking west) as a gate agent. I start next week! This was extremely helpful!!
My biggest ambition is to travel and I want to have a job related to flying. I have always loved airports and this job sounds right up my alley. I think I'm going to try it since my job started doing massive hour cuts lol.
Looks like San Francisco. I have a lot of respect for gate agents. You folks go out there dealing with all kinds of flight delays and have to handle irate passengers for not much money. But good gate agents make the experience so much more memorable. Some of the best are those ex-Continental "uniformed representative" agents.
just found your video I am looking into becoming a gate agent myself and getting into the airline world! I am moving to Dallas soon and planning on working in DFW really excited and hope to find something!
I’m so happy I found your video, I’ve been looking for videos like this for the past two days because I just got hired to be a gate agent, so I hope you keep making these vids, I’ll definitely be on the look out
Wow! I’m very glad to see this kind of video, because usually there’s only ones from flight attendants or pilots. I also find it interesting that and the US gate agents move the jet bridges. And Europe, they would have dedicated personal to do that. So you really have a very demanding job. And 16 hours you said? How many breaks did you have during that time? Are you also only paid by the time that you’re actually at the gate, like flight attendants are only paid while they are on the plane? And Germany working for 16 hours is illegal. The most you can do in a day and then you need an 11 hour breaks between shifts.
Nice video to watch, pls I hope u do more videos like and tell us more on how to apply as a passenger ground service. Am doing the course and am hoping to get a job thanks
You do not know how happy i was to find this video. Ever since I started traveling as a little girl the job you do has always interested me but yet I never knew the proper name for it. What where the requirements for applying for this position? Also, so you get any training on the things you will be doing? I want to know all about it, lol.
I’m so glad you’ve found it useful, hence the reason why I made it! The job title is ‘customer service representative’ but there are different areas this specific job title covers such as ticketing, gates, baggage service, etc. As for requirements a high school diploma and a valid drivers license is mandatory. Experience doesn’t fall under the umbrella of requirements, however, it is preferred. The airline trains you on everything from the correct terminology to company policies. The training can be intense because there’s an overload of information given in a certain time frame. I started off working for a subcontractor and fell in love with the job even though I didn’t have the flight benefits at the time. It’s such a flexible job and everyday you experience something new, good and bad lol
Sinoti Yo I’m going to finish my application for the job opening for a “ Customer service representative “ I want a job where I can work than eventually have a job that I can also work , travel working for the airline I do wanna work for a airline I didn’t know what they’re specifically trained on like u said ticketing , baggage where they put weigh the baggage put the white sticker on it ? I have someone who lives in my house that works at the airport he’s a mail carrier I don’t have my license
Thank you! This is exactly the kind of job I want to do!!! Would you be willing to share with us what's the best way to land this kind of a job with an airport? Where/when to apply, who to talk to, how to get a face to face interview without just having your app/resume just sitting in a stack somewhere?
Thank You for this Video! Being a Gate Agent is my dream job but i'm not 18 yet :( I hope one day I can become one but for now, I have to wait and hopefully get to see more videos like this!!
Sad i only find this 3 years later, this job looks so cool! If i can ask, what does it mean when the gate agent scans your passport, and the scanner does a beep sound and shows red, i've been confused about it a lot lol.
so cool I just applied for a Customer service agent, ticket/gate seasonal ready reserve... I know that was a long title but that's how the job position was posted.
fanaticoRain ahh I know we have a few airlines that operate like that. With my company we’re cross trained with just about everything... so more responsibility lol
I work for Hawaiian at the Kona Airport in Hawaiʻi and we literally have to do everything while being exposed to the elements lol. There's no walls and barely any roof-covered areas at our airport. Plus, there's no jet bridges at all, so we have to walk out on the tarmac to the A/C, push the heavy passenger ramp to the A/C door, run up the ramp, open the door and then have the PAX walk on the tarmac to enter the gate area. And the worst part...open-air airport = no air conditioning. Glad you work indoors though! Lmao.
John Andrade major props to you for bearing outdoor conditions & doing everything manually! You just made me even more thankful for being located inside lol And yes I’m Samoan! Thanks for stopping by hopefully we run into each other when I’m in Kona!🤙🏽
@@SinotiYo What airport do you work at? It looks really nice. (BTW, if you ever decide to fly to Hawai‘i or Pago Pago LMK. I can give you the loads for the HA flights!)
LIFADR+94 aviation must run in your blood then! The first step is to apply for a position that you may like. If you get hired and realize you don’t like it after all, you can always transfer to a different department until you find the right fit.
I'm looking at customer service representative. However, the only experience I've had is at a restaurant, not so much in the airlines. Do I go for a small airline first or build up experience at other things before I start with the airline industry?
You don't necessarily need experience but if you've worked with the public that's great too because it's still customer service experience. I say go for whatever airline you want to work for whether big or small, it never hurts to apply. I've got coworkers that were hired straight out of high school so there's hope for everyone lol
@SinotiYo I thought about applying for that position kind of nervous though because I feel like it's kind of hard to do. Is this job enjoyable and pretty reasonable and is a hard job to do!!!!
james Little at first it’s hard because there’s so much information and items to check off before closing a flight but once you gain more experience it gets better. Personally I love my job because I can make a difference in someone’s day whether it be to flash a smile, give a better seat or just being a good listener. I rarely find myself bored because everyday presents a different challenge and it allows me to think creatively and efficiently. If you’re a people person this is definitely the job for you!
Sinoti Yo Thank you so much for your information I really enjoy your video..... But tell me this when you working those 16-hour shift does it go by fast!!!
Seriously thank you so much for the video!! I’m going through the process now!! So excited !!!! What’s your favorite part of the job ? And your most challenging ?!!
zreyesxo no problem & welcome to the gates! My favorite part (operationally) is the adrenaline rush especially if you’re granted a short amount of time to push the flight out. But when it comes down to the interaction with people I love reassuring nervous fliers and seeing the reaction on people’s face when you go the extra mile. The most challenging is when there’s delays or cancellations. Trying to maintain composure and having a good attitude is tough when there’s a mob of upset people screaming at you lol but for the most part it grows your character hahaha
Sinoti Yo OMG! I’m so excited! God knows I’ve been trying with my dream airlines for years! Now I passed all of my assessments and have to do a virtual interview! Last time I got to as far as the face to face interview and then they decided to hire all internal! But the Grace of God carried me through cause I was heartbroken! This time I’m praying and hoping I can get it! My only concern is that it’s “Ready Reserve” that’s a little scary, but I want it so bad I’m willing to give it a go!

preshiz pink yes and yes! The best part is I can go home at the end of the day and work my business and still receive amazing benefits & flight privileges :)
Its really hard working as an airline staff. I worked for a Middle East carrier fr 2011-2013 then Philippine carrier fr 2016-2018. People will ALWAYS find ways to stress you out, and much more if the flight is delayed. But it was always fun.
Hi Charlotte! Yes we get major discounts on US airlines. If we travel domestically the flights are free & on international flights we pay international fees & a standard base charge but it's minor. Of course if we get first/business class there's a small charge but it's still a steep discount.
Hey Sinoti!!! Bad time management - lol. Thank you so much for sharing this. I had no idea you guys actually close the door to the aircraft and handle the walkway. Really interesting. Been a fan of flight attendant stories I was so pleased to find this video. Yeah, I know...I'm a little late coming back. This is a position I have an interest in. Do you all get flight benefits like FAs do? Thanks again....became a subscriber.♥
Talk about bad time management again haha The answer to your question is yes, I do get flight benefits and the best part is I get to come home at the end of the day!
Hey how’s it going first time looking at ur video just had a question so I’m looking to get married to this wonderful Dominican girl I been with her for 3 years looking to settle down with so my question is so I live in Houston Texas I was wondering if theres direct flight to dominican republic last year when i went we had to stop at florida then from florida to santo domingo

Yes, that is true! Everyday is different but can be fun.
Hi really enjoyed your videos I've just moved from UK to Us just a question do you get discounts on flights working for Us airlines 😃 thankyou x
I thought ground crew or flight attended close door not gate agent
I’m hoping & planning on working at the Dallas Love Field airport, just curious which city do u work in? ☺️❤️❤️
Omg you’re friend at 5:39 hahaha. 😂😂😂
Did u have to do a role play scenario for your interview ?
Tarsha Mon Louis fortunately for me I didn’t. It’s more so scenario questions & how you would respond.
How long is training for gate agent
Hey how’s it going first time looking at ur video just had a question so I’m looking to get married to this wonderful Dominican girl I been with her for 3 years looking to settle down with so my question is so I live in Houston Texas I was wondering if theres direct flight to dominican republic last year when i went we had to stop at florida then from florida to santo domingo
What happened to you no more videos 😭😭
Is this in San Francisco international airport?
How old do you have to be to work at an airport? For any positions, like the souvenir shops for example.
Ann I’m not sure about other positions in the airport but I know many require to be at least 18 years of age.
I started working at the airport and my feet hurt a whole lot just by standing all day and not getting the chance to sit
Chemonique Downer oh no! There are days when it’s crazy & I cherish the moments when I can rest my feet.
Great video! Keep up the good work! :) P.S. DieselDucy sent me!
Elevator Fan thank you!

As a former check-in and gate agent, I think this is the same for every airline that has two systems to work with and you have sucky computers at the Airport.
I apply for passenger agent and I like too how you approach the airplane door please
honestly i workeedd for an airline shor term. theres almost no time or room to travel n have any life outside the aiport...
Cool Video
