I recently get a new (to me) DRZ400E. It came with the standard tank fitted and a long range tank in a box. I had the same problem installing the tank .... possibly made more difficult with all those beers. Believe it or not, I had to take the tank off track-side on my last trip on the Old Coach Road and putting it back on was as easy as pie. The difference?.... a bit of learned knowledge and a second set of hands to hold the tank in place while I bolted in on. Good to see I wasn't the only one struggling with this. Thanks guys.
Pretty much my set up....screens for bikes screen the only difference. It's working great for extended rides, gives me an easy 400km range. With the larger tank full the front feels very planted but geometry/handling was interesting until I dropped the rear sag to match the front. I'll likely fit upgraded springs front and rear when funds allow. Bang for buck these Dizzers are hard to beat.

Looks good, just got my drz on the road. Tank is ordered cant wait to put that on. Will be doing similar mods to yours.
