The bad blood that happened between Senior and Junior, so bad the father didn't go to the son's wedding, I think turned off many viewers. Doesn't matter who was in the wrong - it was all wrong. Sure we tuned in for the bikes, the drama, and the antics but the dark side of things was too much. Glad they eventually reconciled but the episodes where they tried to work together couldn't happen because Senior wouldn't be flexible and Junior was just holding in too much tension.

Hi just watched your video..... and was saddened.....it was quite a venture at the time..... turned out that the bikes were innovative but of bad quality in some cases...I'm American living in Berlin Germany and I attended to bring occ to Germany at one time to expand the brand to Europe... little did I know the condition the OCC company was in....I had started communicating with them via a Dutch motorcycle importer.... who helped me look at the conditions to import bikes parts and merchandise..... however years ago meaning 2013..... understanding Thier downfall...I then understood why they cut off communication with myself and others to follow up on anything simply because they just didnt relinquish any info on going forward.... some German and European dealers brought a few bikes over but generally the bikes were difficult to render road worthy due to the strict regulations in Germany.....it seemed like a an expensive venture and we. My brother and I moved on and invested in building American food trucks.....on the outskirts of Berlin this folded up due to COVID.... unfortunately..... nevertheless.....thank you for your video report.,.... have a good one and Ride on...

@SpeakeasyMotors That is very much an American TV approach make drama instead of a simple discussion. I imagine the two Paul's were a lot less like that in reality.
I mean you need only look at Gordan Ramseys American shows vs the same show in the UK. UK one he's laughing and joking and having a good time. US one he's screaming shouting calling people idiots swearing etc. I'm not saying he didn't do that in the UK shows. It's just gone from a steady simmer when he's annoyed to being a character trait in those shows in th3 US where it's all drama.

I was at this location in 2011 when OCC was in full blown operation. The building was more like a destination than a business. When you entered the front door, the whole area was like a giant museum. As soon as you entered, they had almost every motorcycle that they built on the TV show on display. In the back they had racks and shelves full of clothing and motorcycle paraphernalia. If you walked all the way to the back area, they had large windows that looked into the shop, and you could watch them working on different bikes. As you walked toward the cafe you passed a small bowling alley, and the cafe/bar was huge. It had a tremendous bar, they served a large selection of beers, the food was typical bar food not great, and at night they had live music. It was 2 pm on a Tuesday and we couldn't get a table let alone find a parking space. The money that place generated should have paid for 10 more locations, it was greed and stupidity that closed OCC down. It was great to watch your video to see what happened to the building, with the exception of the fan and the floor tile it looks nothing like it did, thank you for posting this!

Years ago me and a friend were working on the road out of ruralOklahoma. We stopped by there after we got off work around 9pm. We were surprised to see lights on in the restaurant, walked inside and ordered steaks. About half way through the bartender said the chef was coming out. He did and asked how the steaks were. Fabulous I said and they really were. He told us that was a pregrand opening only for friends and family! We were not invited, just walked in, didn't have a clue! He was cool and told us we were the first two paying customers and, besides Sr the first streaks they ever served. Then they gave us a tour of the showroom. They really were good people. It's a shame it all fell apart like it did.

It was a cool experience, like this self-storage manager i would have shown you around also. The owner i worked for would have never waited this long to pull down signs and put up his self-storage name instead. Hope the storage company does well, looks like a rural area. Those are tough areas to keep a self-storage facility filled with customers. Never knew where OCC was built. I couldn't take the show after they moved with all the anger after a while. I certainly wouldn't expect to jump on a theme bike and go cross country. Just a thought.

It was still in full swing, though I didn't see anyone from the show. The main area was a museum with some old bikes and many of the bikes they had built on the TV show. They also sold OCC merch and motorcycle accessories. They also showed models of their less expensive bikes, but they were still very expensive. The Café was still open, the bowling alley and you could still walk around the gift shop and look at a bunch of the bikes from the show. @@Stephen-carr I’m aware it was more than just the shop within the edifice. They clearly relied heavily on ancillary revenue from other offerings which, at best, would’ve barely covered costs to provide them. I can only assume they were counting on hordes of viewers (from their admittedly small TV viewership) to support their expensive fantasies. And just like I said, that square footage was way, way more than they needed, especially if they were to have stuck to the meat & bones of their operation. It was Senior’s wet dream, and it failed. And yeah, people know “of him”, but he’s a relative nobody now. End of.

@@Stephen-carr Really? I visited there when they were still open. It was around 2012 and I was a fan of the show. The shop was large but not outsized at all compared to a relatively successful large MC dealership. ALL the extra square footage was 'too big for your britches" hype for what turned out o be an inferior product of limited value, beyond band wagon corporate advertisement.
I BET the facility in FL isn't even as large as that shop in NY plus a retail and service counter. NYS isn't "too small" for such a business - which is proved by the many other custom motorcycle builders and brand dealerships. Paul Sr. was a toxic human being with anger problems and an huge ego that told him he should get to do whatever he wanted because - well... "I should." They didn't fail because of "high taxes." No one goes bankrupt because of taxes - unless they just didn't pay taxes (which you PLAN FOR if your a decent business person) because they overextend themselves and can't sell enough product to cover expenses. They failed because Sr. made them build a pretty but shitty product and relied on a hype that couldn't possibly last. Lack of long term planning and a dearth of great products is what killed them.
I'm also willing to bet that whatever is being built in FL are relatively tame artistic interpretations of the chopper aesthetic - that are actually functional motorcycles.

When I went over to look at it, I was expecting something like the themed ones you saw on the show. It was just a plain old chopper and nothing really much to it other than the OCC logo. My neighbor told me he wished he had not bought it and it was more a show piece than a nice long ride unit and he eventually sold it a year after getting and lucky cause the market for OCC bikes fell. He told me he over paid cause the show hype had the bikes going for a high dollar. The guy that bought it from him ended up selling it for half of what he purchased it and hated it too.

Sounds like they really needed to pivot to a “lifestyle brand” - selling clothing and whatnot with their logo. Still do a bike here and there, but the main business would have been merch sales. That and, not sure if they tried, but moving to a youtube channel and doing bike stuff, to earn a revenue stream on that side as well. (Again, maybe they tried that? I didn’t really watch the show…) And maybe even get in to the self storage business? Could have done some specialty bike storage, setting up units to accommodate motorcycles. It seemed someone thought a storage facility there would make good business sense.

@@guytech7310 - I’d imagine a lot of their sales would be online, but yeah, being set up in a more populated area, or an area that gets a lot of tourism, would be more ideal for a store to walk around. You visit, you see some cool bikes on display, take some pictures, buy a t-shirt.
I just read up a bit more on OCC - and most of my “knowledge” of the shop came from memes and short video clips. Also, I kinda lumped them in with West Coast Customs, which was a reality show that was entertainment first, and then quality builds somewhere lower on the importance list.
But yeah, they built a brand, which is difficult to do - now they just need to branch out and see how they can continue to capitalize off of it. If there’s motorcycle accessories that they can design and have made in large quantities that other people aren’t making, their brand name on the package will carry weight.

Anyone who watched the show could clearly see Paul Sr was just a figurehead for the company. Junior, Rick and Vinnie were the backbone of the builds and the ones responsible for its creativity, design and growth. Paul Sr was a runaway lunatic with a short fuse destined for failure. As for the bikes they were more artwork than roadworthy and you wouldn’t want to take them on a road trip. They weren’t reliable nor comfortable for long distances. Senior created his own demise. He literally lost everything through bad decisions. He had ZERO skills when it came to management and treatment of his employees. What one might say he wasn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer. Ironically, Paul Sr is worth ONLY $500,000 now while Junior is worth $2,000,000. However, neither one has the notoriety they once had. Their glory days are well behind them never to return. They found Companies and promised them a whole episode of of their name being plastered about for good advertising, which paid for the build, most of the bikes weren't even delivered after the 'unveiling'.
Then they got Senior and Junior to hype up the dramatics.
Senior and Junior, and a lot of Viewers, started believing it was their 'talent' that was the attraction, got all big headed about it, and, of course, when the show started losing ratings, the Producers pulled the plug and the whole thing went to crap.

I has become envogue to trash these guys, their bikes, their FAMILIES, but, they all made a run at it, and, for a while, they were running HARD. Reality TV called, and they worked out a deal. I dont know much about the details, from a few feet back, I would be hesitant to make a show about a fledgling bike builder (and I say this, because they were NOT commercial builders, and then, over night, they were now CUSTOM bike builders. I would think the amount of creativity to churn out a new bike every week or so gets hard as hell. I agree that’s it’s sort of a low life thing to hop on the “it’s cool to trash OCC” bandwagon. If they really were such losers then it’s even more of loser thing for this guy and many more to make pilgrimages to the place. Oh well, I guess trashing America and those who try and do something big has become the “cool” thing.

You’re a little wrong. He has a shop in Florida and host bike rally’s fairly often. His shop is really nice. He is still building bikes. I recently saw him build one for Riley Gains. Really nice looking bike. He also built another one for someone famous. Can’t remember who. He is on UA-cam and doing fairly well from what I see. He always has bikes on the rack.

I went there about 15yrs ago. Honestly, the food was really good. They had the bowling alley open and briefly ran into Paul Sr … he was friendly and took a pic with my kids. Too bad it’s not open anymore … I guess they rode that train to the end.

If you want that same experience again you have to go to florida. Paul Sr. has a place down there with a bar & restaurant and a motorcycle shop.

Thanks for the tour. it's amazing how things can go up so fast and then down in the same short time. They were rock stars for a while and then the candle burned out. I watched the show as often as I could and was amazed at some of the machines they turned out despite all the drama and bickering. I just remember seeing the episode when they left the old building and ruined an Expedition while rampaging throughout the inside of the shop. And then jumped it off the loading ramp which probably finished off the vehicle with a bent frame. That disgusted me. You could tell they were riding a bit too high on their new-found celebrity. Oh well. I wish them well in whatever they're doing now.

Wow, thank you for sharing, my sister lived down the road from their original spot. I loved all the bike shows I disliked the drama there was a showed with a few guys from deep woods that built real bikes but never made it big like OCC sad to see this. A friend of mine owned a chopper place out of NJ, he was in the midst of launching a new show on discovery he built bikes out of his garage very talented but they all came crashing down and show was cancelled
