You actually missed a VERY important detail. The piglins in the nether are actually scared of the zombified piglins. This means that the piglins are actually aware of the virus and tend to stay away from those who have unfortunately been affected. Minecraft is already a pretty scary game but now that makes Minecraft a whole lot scarier...
It really depends on wether the zombie piglin fight back against piglin, if they fight back then them being scared and running away dosent really mean too much and could just be a unique interaction, it would be more interesting if the zombie piglin dont attack back because that would mean more.
@@dimentio9833 Not completely true when they're hostile towards the player and attacks back.
@@dimentio9833 as far as i know, the zombified piglin are not actually hostile towards the piglins, yet the piglins stay away from them, indicating that the piglins know that something is wrong with their zombified bretheren.

Just putting it out there that the percentage of villagers that turn into zombie villagers changes with the difficulty. On normal difficulty it's 50%, but on hard it's 100%. Not sure if it disproves this theory, but I think it's worth mentioning.

Matpat: it's because the zombie virus can't survive in the nether

I think they are an exception. Brought from the overworld or turned through the soul sand. The virus is clearly not spreading in the air the same way it is in the overworld as evidenced by how the Piglins get turned easily in one but are fine living in the other

Here is something: Zombies piglin aren’t mindless, they cooperate, they aren’t really flesh eaters, so my hypothesis is that the virus can’t break their blood brain barrier, but for us, they might be able. And the air for us isn’t dangerous probably because we have some kind of protection (like a immunity to the disease).
4:16
Actually, zombies may spawn in the nether if a zombified piglin calls for reinforcements, as there is a small chance the spawnd reinforcements have a zombie.

True
Looking back at this theory after watching Matpat's Minecraft Legends Theory. Although that could debunk the Zombie theory, I remember that when the Nether portal opened, the surrounding area literally became the Nether. That might explain why the invaders didn't get the Virus, because the ecosystem was changed near the Portal, allowing the Piglins to survive, since it sterilized the area near the portal and the battle took place near the portal.
I'm ready for MatPat to talk about the broken Nether portals that can be found around the Minecraft world.
Been wondering about those myself, should I reconstruct the portal? Steal the blocks? Flood it with water encased by diamond block!?

This explains why piglins are scared of their zombified versions in the nether; they are scared of contracting the virus themselves.
Or because it's an undead version of them
Well, if you see a rotting human just skulking around with a sword, you’d be scared shitless.
But how did these piglins became zombified in the first place, it does not add up.
@@mohamedfrahat363 I guess I thought it didn't make sense that piglins were fearful of the zombie piglins when the latter was never hostile in the first place. This theory gives an additional reason as to why they're scared of them.
@@mateou1321 "Ancient builders built portals, piglins became curious, piglins turned, piglins went back through" is the possible explanation.
So, given the lore discussed in the creeper & pyramid episode, I believe the husks were a product of the builders preserving life in their pyramids, similar to real life Egyptians, and the drowned were created as a result of being drowned in the ocean monument. I believe it was when the the wither was created that the first og zombies & og skeletons started appearing in the over world, and it only got worse when the illagers tried to revive the builders and created zombies.
Just an idea, what if the zombie virus originated in the nether, but only affected the ancient builders when they left because of the temperature?
"Minecraft is a family friendly game about cubes"
Matpat: Well yes, but actually no
Yes
Perhaps Steve used to be a zombie, but was somehow cured through some freak event. This could explain an ancient builder waking up as the last of their kind and with complete amnesia.
Sounds possible
sounds good. a few problems tho. who cured him? how did they do that? why only one saved ancient builder? granted, steve just kinda always existing as an ancient builder with no explanation makes no sense either, but still.
@@daplayzmc0772 maybe his immune system won against the virus overtime?
Probably gapple and pot of weakness
@Thomas Steele problem with that is that the notch apple and the other stuff used to revive zombie villagers only work on zombie villagers, not normal zombies. and with the ancient builders becoming the normal zombies, it wouldn't work on them.
“Zombies only exist in the overworld “
Zombie pigmen: I am still here

I still believe that the ancient builders ran to the end because of the wither, but sometime before that a zombie virus broke out that turned some of them into zombies, but then they got immune. So then they tried to toy with death to bring their deceased friends that died in the nether back to life and ended up creating the wither, causing them to flee to the end.

Steve is just that powerful and that STRONK.

Hey dont worry about it
I can answer that question. The lava isn’t actually lava or magma at all
Even LIGHTING a nether portal will kill you. If things other than you can be sent through it, the heat will leak out from the nether, devastating the environment.
hey matpat about the zombies spawning in the nether on hard difficulty zombies can spawn additional zombies to "help" when damaged. Each zombie has a "likeliness to call reinforcements" statistic ranging from 0-10%, and "leader" zombies (0-5% depending on regional difficulty) get a bonus of 50-75 percentage points to the stat. When the zombie is damaged by an entity or is damaged while targeting an entity, up to 50 attempts are made to randomly choose a spawn location (0 or ±7-40 blocks away in all three axes) that is above a block with a solid top surface, has light level 9 or lower, has no players within 7 blocks, and has no colliding entities or blocks at which to spawn the reinforcement. Both the damaged zombie and the new zombie has a 5 percentage point penalty to their "likeliness to call reinforcement" stat, preventing infinite zombies from spawning this way. Zombie reinforcements can spawn even in locations where naturally spawned zombies can't spawn, like mushroom biomes, The End, and Nether biomes zombie piglens count as zombies and have their own reinforcement stat
The piglins turn into zombie piglins because of the weather, Since there is not lava everywhere in the overworld, so they turn into zombie piglins because of the cold weather.

I want to hear Kung Fu Panda read a book about Minecraft while I fall asleep.

Hey mat Pat, here's a theory. How Can a skeleton aim without eyes ☠️
dey cant really maybe dunno
Magic
Or how they have bows
Instinct duh
go on easy they miss a lot
only started the video, my idea might be mentioned or thrown out the window but i had the thought that since they ‘die’ when travelling through the portal within a matter of seconds, being exposed to to what they are no longer able to fit against might be the course or the thought i had was linked to the nether-wart, the reason they where able to stay healthy was because they have the nether-wart and not being i’ll to begin with they stayed healthy, but with the pigs they brought with them were ill (so that’d explain the rotting of skin) but the continuation of eating the nether-wart kept them alive long enough to evolve but the effects could never undo the effects of the illnesses that had infested them to begin with.
i have no clue if this train of thought made any sense, but i just wanted to put it out there
4:18, They can spawn in the Nether.
When you attack a zombie, there a small chance one will spawn near by to aid that other zombie.
If you attack a Zombified Piglin, that small chance is there. It’ll spawn a regular zombie in the Nether.
This is a pretty good theory, and another thing that backs it up is that you can cure zombie villagers, meaning there is something to cure which means that there is indeed a zombie virus.
You're correct!
I was looking for this comment
And hoping it would be mentioned in the video
And the medicine
How does it work?
It's important to consider that since there's a chance not everything in a cured zombie will be restored immediately, or in a long time.
@@torisufirma6564 Its consuming Golden Apple while having the weakness effect, only works on Zombie Villagers and takes upto 5 minutes. Its not instantaneous.
Theory:
There used to be more that one dragon
Isn’t it a little weird how in the end there’s a dragon egg despite the fact that there’s only one dragon?
Not only that but at the front of end ships you can find dragon heads. I believe that someone hunted down these dragons and used their wings to make the elytra. These dragons may have also lived in the nether which would explain why the soul sand valley is filled with giant rib cages
*omg i found game theorist new channel, here’s a link to it->* ua-cam.com/video/vuzwadL2cP0/v-deo.html
cool idea, i hope Matt sees this comment
Pretty good theory, hats off to you gamer
I like the idea that there were nore dragons, but what about the ribcages in the overworld? Shouldn't they also come from dragons?
yes very good theory but phantoms wings is a good explenation for elytras i dont think they used dragon wings but the dragon heads that could be true
Developers: you know what, let's just add some zombies in the game to make it look like a game of survival.
Matpat: creates a whole 13 minute video featuring how who when and why zombies were created... and makes it a lore.
ahh, I love this
Ok but heres my theory,
There is a zombie virus, but it isn’t airborne
Because notice, zombies and zombie villagers keep all their flesh in tact
But zombified piglins lose their flesh
I cant explain piglins, im not smart enough, but they arent the same
How does Matpat make a simple part of a story sound so horrifying.
Fridge Logic. Specifically, Fridge Horror.
He milks them
felt more like a history lesson 😔
Bruh can you imagine how scary zombie endermen would be
>:}
It wont exist because Zombies are not hostile to enderman due to not knowing if they are human or not. And plus even if zombies knew. Enderman has high immunity just like their former form.

It's so stupid, Minecraft is about making your own story, putting in specific details just ruins it.

He was also wrong about the cities. The real reason why there weren't a new world plague was because of the limited amount of domesticated animals that would introduce new diseases in the first place.
@@henryyin2471 which were mainly found in tight urban areas like cities...
@@henryyin2471its kind of a given, there can be no city if they don't have a centralization of agriculture and domestication.

But because there weren't too many, we can conclude that domesticated animals are the main factor.
11:43 would make sense then that in difficulty hard 100% of the villagers are transformed/not immune because worse immune system = harder. (not really in MC tho because you can then abuse the zombify/curing mechanics to get cheap trades xD)
