I love that matpat makes his videos in a way that you can listen, not watching the actual visuals, and still go along and understand whats happening. Like hes just descriptive enough to tell you what something looks like, but not so much that it ruins the video for ppl watching it too
But let's not forget that it could still be fun to watch since sometimes the editors leave behind random comments as text or some random animation playing that could actually make you laugh.
When you trust in God and cast your cares (worries, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts) upon him, they will be NO MORE! Know that there is power in the name Jesus Christ! His name casts out demons and heals! The world is wicked, evil, and of the devil. I too, was a wicked sinner of the world before I opened my heart to God. I am living proof of God's work and fruitfulness! He is an active God who hears the prayers of his! God's children are set apart (holy) and righteous. The devil is a liar that comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy; that includes your relationship with God. Open your heart to God, repent of your sins (he will forgive you), and let him direct your path. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands and purify your heart, lest you walk with the devil and follow him to hell.
Also, this would make sense why the Ender men hate the ender mights in the base game, it's because they were essentially a plague for them, forcing all of their neighbors and friends to starve.
I don't think the endermen have a functioning mind like that tho if they did they would build there own cities again like they did when they were ancient builders
arent the enderman the ancient builders who have evolved due to primarily eating chorus fruit. this also run with the theme that they kill all the thing they see
@@Starlisc there’s a fine line between figuring out who’s the enemy and a who to attack (a behaviour which the Endermen have obviously showed) and rebuilding an entire civilization.
I wonder if Matt will make a big Minecraft retrospective theory of sorts someday. Linking together all the previous theories, and figuring out what fits, what doesn't, and what they may have missed initially.
I like the idea that Legends is an older villager telling a story to a kid. The kid sees a ruined portal, asks about it, and to just keep the kid entertained the older villager makes up a story. "But piglins turn into zombies when they go through portals!" "They do NOW, as a curse for losing the war" and other nonsense that makes just enough sense to believe, even if it doesnt all add up
Yeah I guess that pretty much what Legends really are. I mean teaming up with hostile mobs which try to kill both player and villagers (like zombie or pillager) to fight back invasion of mobs which are neutral to us, wanna trade with us for gold(which put them kinda more into "friendly" side of the spectrum) and can't even enter our world withoug getting zombiefied? It just have to be made up.
I think the reason we dont have a diverse ecosystem in minecraft is because mojang and microsoft lame and to respond to the fact matpat thinks no diverse piglons is because humans it is because that I think at least that they mechanically engerniered them to be powerful and stuff and they failed to invade so they lost there knowlege and civilization to it.
The Incendium datapack adds a lot of great structures, including a really well defended Piglin Castle complete with multiple piglin variants. I refuse to spoil what those variants are but bring enchanted diamond armor, that's for sure.
@@madboy234_yt Mojang says that they want all hostile mobs to be fantasy creatures, but then there's silverfish. And to just add bosses with more loot means more exploitations to get said loot easier.
One thing he didnt mention: the difference in portal size in the original game vs legends, legends shows a massive scary portal that infects the land around it, while in minecraft its just a small lowly construct with a small amount of the ground changed, whatever was left of the piglins when the builders came through wasnt some mighty army, it was probably a small remnant of resistance that the builders slaughtered.
WAIT I JUST HAD A THOUGHT So so so the um the frickin abandoned portal things I forget what they’re called the ones with gold and chests and stuff They’re bigger than your average Nether portal, and they’re surrounded by netherack (I forget how to spell it) and magma I guess it’s possible they just placed the blocks there for decoration, and I really like the implications of what you said (from a lore standpoint, not from a ‘hehe yes I love seeing innocents gets murdered’ one), but I figured it was worth pointing out I know portals can be made rly big as long as they’re kept as a rectangle, and I wonder if the nether blocks surrounding the old portals are due to the fact that they’ve been around so long, and no matter how long you play the game it’s just not as long as the old portals have likely been around, so you’d probably never see the spreading yourself Idk just food for thought
In vanilla minecraft, endermen will hunt endermite that are nearby. Probably because the endermen know that endermite will destroy any species it comes into contact with.
Please do a theory on how much bird seed can save you from a fall in gravity falls when Stanley is running for mayor he saves dipper and mable then he falls into bird seed
well there's a theory that the Zombie virus is airborne and all the overworld mobs developed an immunity, but since the piglins live in the nether they didn't develop one.
This story idea would absolutely tie in to some of the dev’s mindsets, namely them trying their best to make sure that any tweaks they make don’t end up breaking player-built resource farms. The ancients never came up with resource farms. They always took from the natural environments. That left two dimensions as wastelands. Of course the Devs would support the building of creative, infinite resource farms, since the story they’ve crafted shows the ramifications of exploitation instead of cultivation.
i'm fairly certain it's actually in reference to the old nether fortresses, finding those after hours of searching in the console editions... now THOSE were the days
matpat needs to do more theories on Minecraft Dungeons. Not only base game connecting lore, dungeons has like their own lore, and it's very interesting. Such as illagers colonizing a villager settlement, ancient villager civilization in the jungle, and the mystery of the crypts we see throughout creeper woods and pumpkin pastures. And it doesn't end there, there's even more to find out
See, matpat didn't actually put research into minecraft dungeons, he probably just researched for like 10 minutes, because he forgot about the fact that the mutation that changed the end dimension literally came from a magical orb that mutates whatever it touches, so it was not just evolution. he would have known this if he played the game for a few weeks.
Ender mites also are very similar to the silverfish in the over world. If the silverfish happened to get through the portal and had to eat native resources to survive it could have changed them too. It’s seems very continent that there is always a silverfish spawner right outside the portal, a little too convenient.
I had always thought of endermites as being parasites that feed on endermen, with ender pearls being their eggs. We always assume that ender pearls are eyes, but, from a certain point of view, they look like real life frog eggs, with a layer of slime around a dark spherical center. Perhaps this is why only some endermen drop ender pearls, not all of them have been infected. This would also explain why endermites come out of enderpearls randomly and why endermen are aggressive towards them. It’s a situation similar to how parasitic wasps lay their eggs in caterpillars, so that their offspring can eat them from the inside out.
I like it how minecraft doesnt have story quests or almost any story at all but yet it has such big and interesting lore. The game appears as just a building game but it secretly hides so so much more
A small, very simple detail in Minecraft gameplay could further prove this theory. And it's depending how much you love building. One word: saplings. In the overworld, you can get a sapling of any tree, bring it to your base and grow it there. However, for wood from the nether, it's different. Once you chopped down a “tree” for its crimson or warped logs, it's never gonna come back. It doesn't drop a sapling or a seed to grow a new one, it's a one-use object. Which means if you are farming them on mass, you are destroying entire ecosystems, erasing forests from existence for a couple of stacks of wood.
Yeah, but they can all also be grown back by simply using bone 🦴 meal on their environments, and also on those same similar neighboring blocks made of covered netherack (both cyan & red colors).
They are renewable though, but they are mushrooms, not trees, so they don't grow separately. Mushrooms grow from mycelium, so in the nether's case nylium. Also, mushroom hrow SO fast irl, so I wokldn't be that worried about the nether mushroom. I'd be more worried about the warped fungi taking over the nether since the hoglins don't eat that. Striders do, but I get the feeling they aren't enough to keep it at bay.
Exactly. Everyone saying that this "didn't happen in the Overworld" might be confused to how the Nether works when it comes to renewable resources vs the Overworld. Not trying to be rude of course :P
It isn't too much of a leap to assume during that war there were kingdoms or over world villages that were sympathetic to the piglins or had more sustainable trade.
It isn't too far fetched to think that some of those ancient builders had mercy for the oppressed piglins and they wore gold armour to symbolize thier alliance with the piglins, that's why they don't attack you when you wear gold armour.
that might not be the case, but is proof that the builders entered the nether, as the same zombie virus affecting the builders might have been spread to the nether via the builders entering said nether, and the reason as to why they become immediately zombified when in the overworld proves the zombie virus being in the air in the overworld
Not a bioweapon, but maybe the zombie plague existed before and was a lot less contagious, then a new strain came along and started infecting a lot more.
I think the zombie virus exists endemic in the overworld but the overworld inhabitants have a stronger tolerance to it requiring a direct bite from an infected to become a zombie. The piglins went to the overworld not expecting this and had less resistance.
Nah, most likely it's the rgenitive properties of soulsand, pigeons die and the soft ground of the Nether brings them back. Much like how soulsand gave rise to wither skeletons and how 3 heads form a wither
10:25 This is also proven by a mechanic in the game, when an enderman sees a endermite, it tries to kill it, because the endermen remeber what they did the the end and don't want it happening again.
Hey, So I have been watching all your theories about Minecraft, and it has started me to wonder about the person we play as in the game after all these events have gone down. As of right now, there are currently nine default skins in the game and are named as follows. Steve, Alex, Zuri, Sunny, Noor, Makena, Kai, Efe and Ari. If we take these skins to mean they are the official characters of Minecraft, then the obvious question becomes where did they come from. You seem to imply with your theories that Steven and the other eight characters are descendants of the ancient builders, but I have a bit of a problem with that, for there is nothing in the game showing where we as the player comes from. Now this could be something that Mojang is planning to add later, like a village full of builder descendants that you came from, but I have two ideas that might actually be more in line to the lore you have presented thus far for Minecraft. Now idea number one is rather basic, that being that Steve and the others are all children of villagers who for whatever reason are born with both the resemblance and the gifts of the ancient builders, and thus they were sent off on a grand adventure to discover the secrets of their peoples long lost past. This idea though I admit is weak, as one it would have to be an extremely rare chance for such a thing to happen, but not so unlikely that you didn't run into others like yourself in the world. Idea number two is where I'm putting my money, for this idea involves the Illigers, and the theory you presented that the Illigers are trying to bring back the ancient Builders via dark magic, for I think that they succeeded in bringing a builder back to life, and that builder is your player character. Now two questions of course arise from this idea, one being that if you are a builder resurrected by the Illagers, why do they attack you, followed by why are there not more of you out in the world. Both questions are actually easy to answer, for I think that not only were the Illigers wanting to bring builders back to life, but given the fact that they hold sway over the other creations they have at their disposal, I think they also wanted to control these resurrected builders. But for whatever reason, they couldn't control you, and later you were somehow able to escape from their clutches before they could kill you and start over with their experiments, explaining why Illagers would want to kill you on sight, while also explaining why there are no others like you, because they are afraid that like with you, the others they might create will not be able to be controlled, thus escaping and later messing with their plans just like you inevitably do if you survive long enough in Minecraft, after all, only you seem capable of repelling a Illager raid on the Villagers. But its all just speculation on my part at this point, though I would love to see you tackle this idea in one of your videos if it holds merit.
Your theory can be applied on multiple things, first we can say that when our character dies, illagers spawn new ones in hopes of making our character work in favour of them but their plan fails again and again, cuz everytime our character has a will of its own
I think it would be cool if they added stuff from Dungeons to vanilla Minecraft. Just make it only spawn really far from the End Island. Like 50k blocks from where the outer end starts.
If Greed-Analysis is on Todays Menu, let me recommend Second Thought as he has various Video-Essays on the Topic. Why not start with the Tale of ' The Game-Stop Saga Explained'?
agreed, especially since dungeons is suffering from battle pass syndrome the end in dungeons and some of the other levels like cacti canyon could make very interesting and unique biomes
If we believe that Legends is a prequel… then I must believe that the mobs, upon hearing of what happened (the true story, not the half-baked one) must have rebelled. This rebellion probably killed quite a few of the old Ancient Builders, although I assume not all of them. That’s why mobs are hostile in Minecraft, but not in Legends.
Minecraft Dungeons deserves your theories WAY more than this. secret kingdoms, lore in statuary, item descriptions that speak volumes when given context, _an enemy's Gait_ providing evidence as to its origins, signature weapons doing so, AND it's a fun dungeon crawler.
I played that game its first release and its INSANELY packed with lore, literally every corner of the map full of something amazing about the lore honestly
11:50 That is an actual historical thing. When countries/servers were attacked or at war, they were short on resources and started invading other lands to replenish. We see it in Hermitcraft too, they mine giant craters just to get more ores to trade bc they trade and craft so much. Civilization is complicated. Here, invasive Piglins were once the oppressed.
So happy to see you covering Minecraft Dungeons! There is so much lore potential hidden in there, for example, in the opening cutscene for the end dlc, when traveling to the End a piece of the Heart of Ender refers to the End as “the beginning”
Just letting you know, Matt: You’ll need a metric crapton of Emeralds to make that bribe at the beginning since they are only worth 31 cents each. (According to your colleague, Austin.)
That depends. It's worth 31 cents to villagers. But us humans? We use it for jewelry and have more uses for it than fictional big-nosed farmers. Although this doesn't remove the fact that it'd still be a lot of expensive real-life emeralds
Well, it costs only 31 cents in mc, but don't forget that when dealing with the real world austin used real world's math(video about how much does one chest worth). So yeah, matt would need 14.(3) metric cubes of emeralds at max, which is quite a lit of money. And at the very least he'd need 0.1(6) metric cubes of emerds. Which is also quite a lot of money.
I noticed a teeny tiny inconsistency: Enderman. In the first episode you explained that Enderman are evolved builders, however, that only happend when they HAD to flee to the End. Here however you say that they first entered and the End was "alive", using evidence from Minecraft Dungeons...but, there ARE Endermans in Dungeons, and they are mini-bosses...Sooooo, how there can already be Enderman, if the builders haven't evolved yet into them... assuming that the End was spoiled by builder refugees, thus creating a contraddiction, which means, the premise is wrong, or the thought process is wrong...Another thing is that, Enderling, Endermen and Endersent all resemble each other, something that would be very improbable if Endermen and the others had different root ancectors
RetroGamingNow has a great video series known as Minecraft Deep Dive which goes into his own theories on minecraft, and if you like matpats take on minecraft you'll at least enjoy his. Always get two opinions on a theory. His playlist in order is ua-cam.com/video/lRAAOuJP_7Y/v-deo.html
The End ecosystem probably hadn't undergone a noticible decline yet due to the endermite population only beginning to explode, perhaps there's a missing step like another predator between the dragon and endermites only just having gone extinct. Or it had declined and we just haven't seen what it looked like before Dungeons.
They all also share the same appearance as their leader, The Heart of Ender before it was shattered. Which has been show to have the abilities of a god (which is how described its own power), being able to create life and corrupt it with even a simple shard of itself in a area. I'm surprised he hasn't talk about it yet, though I assume that because it doesn't work with the direction of his theories.
The collapse of the builder civilization probably happened twice like during the first a lot of builders escaped to the end but couldn't come back while the ones that stayed behind somehow defeated the wither which explains why it isn't around when Steve is,the second probably happened when they were able to modify viruses and accidentally created a zombie apocalypse that killed everyone I actually think Steve is a genetically and cybernetically enhanced superhuman created to preserve their civilization and probably bring them back and which honestly would explain a lot of his feats This is just something I thought while writing this and thinking on past ideas, what do you think?
The Nether used to have less biomes too. Maybe the warped and crimson forests and soul sand valleys came up after the builders left, as nature's way of fixing itself.
Warped and Crimson biomes are based around the Warped and Crimson Mushrooms. What do fungi like Mushrooms consume? Decaying organic matter. Assuming Mat's theory is correct, then the fungi would be dominating due to the dying ecosystem of the Nether... Due to the Ancient Builders.
I think the silver lining to the ecosystem destruction is that the nether has been getting better, more plants “returning” to the nether, and maybe a similar thing may happen to the end, if mojang ever decides to revisit the end dimension for updates.
I honestly love the concept of this game. The nether invaded the overworked and its up to you to travel the overworked and get all sorts of mobs to help fight back
I dont see it that way, but rather a sign of how brutish they are: sending them is one thing, having them form the first line is another. that and they are clearly mistreated; to me it looks more like further proof that piglins are a brutish race (though mind you this is through the story told by the book, so it may not be accurate at all and piglin infants may not have been involved in the frontline in any capacity)
Also another thing that didn't make sense in this theory. We know, alongside with the end and the nether, the overworld is a barren waste land as well. Yea it's not as bad as the end but I think the end will most probably get a update like the nether and that update will introduce more mobs and species. So if the ancient builders were all powerful conquers and destructors who dominated and destroyed other two dimensions then why did they fall?
I love this theory. As a Dungeon Master, I love the conflict of legend vs truth and ideal vs reality. But as a sidenote... Can we appreciate how amazing animations and Minecraft parody songs made by the community clearly influenced the direction Mojang took the game? The animations remind me so much of some of the biggest names from back in the day. Any issues aside... it's just very cool as a person who's played Minecraft since its debut to see how far it's come and how true to itself it's stayed even across changes in leadership and designers. I can log in now and despite the changes to the world gen and things being better fleshed out, it still feels like the old days of wandering, farming, and occasionally getting up the nerve to delve deep. But now there's a lot more to delve for, and that's awesome. I'm not embarrassed to say I still play as a full adult, and I'm still fascinated by GT's theories about MC.
With what Matpat said about biodiversity loss in the End, it would be really cool if a Sniffer in the End could bring back some of the old End plant life.
Random thing I heard from some sort of dev QNA a while ago. Endermites spawning after an Enderman's teleport happens because the Enderman passing through another dimension while teleporting, and doing so accidentally brings an inhabitant of that dimension back, the Endermite. This is likely not up to date, it's just a random thing I remembered.
Definitely the sniffer and also why youtube hasn't fixed the bot problem already it just sucks to see that all top comments replies are spammed by bots
This reminded me of something. Anybody else remember that one Minecraft theme event thing where the nether was taking over a village and you had to do different stuff to progress through it? That was the single thing that this reminded me of.
Actually, considering that game does focus on stripping resources to build elsewhere, forcing you to go to the nether and end, killing the only thing guarding the end inorder to get those rare resources... It shares some pretty deep ties to colonisation, which is known to be supremely destructive.
The way matpat can just take almost A N Y T H I N G into a believable theory is just insane to me lol edit: thanks for the likes ive never gotten this many before ^-^
I’d like to see a theory on what exactly the Heart of Ender from Minecraft Dungeons is, given how it’s much more demonic than the regular endermen are despite originating from the End, or perhaps a theory about the ghasts and their origins
I wonder now if the zombification of piglins isn't a defense mechanism set up by the ancient builders. Yes the hero "won" after using a last ditch weapon.
Maybe it worked under the mad doctrine. The ancient builders knew there were going to lose so they decided to at least take the piglins down with them.
after hearing about what the ancient builders could of possibly done just makes me want to have the ability to fix what was once lost, even if only slightly, by bringing stuff into the nether and end to make it more of a place that creatures could live (kinda makes me want to do a giant build project to let me do that)
man if this theory gets confirmed it kinda makes the nether update look so much more empty, like the diversity it had compared to the pre 1.16 nether now feels like a fraction of what once was... Feels bad man
A detail you overlooked is that piglins and zoglins turn zombified when they come to the overworld, maybe it was a curse to prevent any future invasions from the piglins
One reason for the loss of biodiversity in the nether might be the Warped Forests...a crimson forest imbued with soul power so dense, it keeps away the -Lin species (hoglins, piglins, whatever you name them) since even a hoglin runs at the sight of a mere warped mushrooms. The reason why piglins run from soul lanterns. The reason for their crumble. The reason for the withers' existence.
It explains piglin behavior in the main game, too. Normally, they attack on sight. Wear gold and bring it to give away, though, and the piglins leave you be... until you try to steal from them, that is, after which the only way to pacify them is to give the gold back.
I am SO glad you brought up how important wolves are to nature's ecosystem. They are so, so, SO important and I'm happy it was incorporated into a Minecraft video so it can get more attention! Thanks Game Theory team 💖
We need more wolves, we need more bison, we need more apes, we need more tigers, and we need more guinea pigs. Who wants to join me in accomplishing this goal?
i think destroying the heart of ender also stopped the creation of the enderlings due to one small detail the enderling's sounds are actually heavily distorted overworld mobs like zombies skeletons and spiders. watchlings sound like zombies, blastlings sound like skeletons, and the snarelings like spiders.
You know, with this theory, the trailer quote about the invasion because of greed could easily actually sneakily be referring to the nether being invaded. The land was never explicitly mentioned as being the overworld after all.
If Greed-Analysis is on Todays Menu, let me recommend Second-Thought as he has various Video-Essays on the Topic. Why not start with the Tale of ' The Game Stop Saga Explained'!?
The ancient builders last ditch effort to save the echo system was to respawn the ended dragon before losing their sanity, and turning into enderman. That’s why there’s the big obsidian pillars around it when we travel there.
Theory: The player is actually the last living ancient builder. In beta we see lots of Steve’s running around the over world, I’m not saying that is canon but more of a representation. After alpha the only resemblance to these Steves are zombies and skeletons. I think disc 11 explains what happened to us as the player, the last builder. We run away from monsters, jump from somewhere high, land in water which likely knocked us out. My theory is that the player got amnesia and woke up (spawned) confused and not remembering what happened to the rest of the builders in the overworld.
Just finished watching and started to think about the soul sand valleys. Where they a result of battles that took place in the nether and the souls of the dead seeped down in to the soil. Therefore creating soul sand.
This essentially ties up with several of matpats theories. The piglins are not turning zombified because the virus doesn't exist yet. The end theories are perfectly explained. I also think this perfectly explains why the bastions are destroyed and why the piglins attack on sight unless we provide gold. Also maybe soul sand valleys are just places where the war was fought. A lot of massacre might have taken place over them. The fossils found in these valleys can be of huge species that died out during the biodiversity loss or the war. Also explains why the different biomes seem to have a lack of too much biodiversity.
Umm mybe its before tge zombie virus and the way we push them back in munecraft legends is that we use the virus but we change so it wont infect our specise and other overworld mobs exept the end because they already destroy it and thats how they push them back and they made sure it wont effect anymore overworld mobs my theory
Just realised that during the Minecraft Legends trailer there were no zombie piglins. This could mean that maybe by the end of the game, the first zombie piglins could've been created. Meaning that zombie piglins originate form this game. This would prove that Minecraft's "zombie virus" didn't come from the nether.
An interesting idea indeed! The only thing that sticks out for me is this: If the ancient builders sucked the nether dry, that would be before they did the same to the end, right? If so, why is the overworld so lush and diverse? One would believe that before the wither/warden drove them to the end they would have depleted the overworld first and then the other dimensions considering they were first in the overworld and the existence of mineshafts. Why was one dimension relatively spared but others sucked dry?
My guess would be because in Minecraft you can produce renewable resources in the Overworld by planting trees & breeding animals yet the Nether & End can only be destroyed not renewed.
Yeah, it seems inconsistent. The nether doesn't even seem that bad really. Maybe it's just the nether wastes that the builders ravaged before the piglins fought back? And regarding the endermite thing, how would dragons prey on endermites of all things? Also, we don't know if Dungeons takes place in the future or the past yet. If the sniffer gets added and taken to the end, maybe it could find some of those ancient seeds from Dungeons. If it could do that, that'd suggest Dungeons took place in the past.
@@Laff700 I know right? One possibility could be that the end will get a glowup like the nether did, because the end as it currently is right now feels like a desolate place, the nether also does have this feel but less so. And then the place which these guys that mined out dimensions came from is the best looking one? Well, to be fair there is one place in the nether that seems correlated to a massive battlefield: soul sand valley, based on what's known a looooot of death happened there....
@@familiaviladelahuerta9771 If the end were to be prettied up, like the Better End mod does, that's be great. Also, the soul sand valley is probably filled with soul sand due to wind and other atmospheric causes rather than many things dying there.

The ancient builders push piglins back to the nether where they fight for the death and piglins won. Their numbers are reduced to fraction of the original and their homes in ruins.
just to clarify Kingbdogz stated that endermites aren't native to the end their creation is a result of the player traveling through a sort of pocket dimension whilst teleporting and somehow brings them through to the overworld
8:04 the wolves then started to kill of elks ( as they do) and less elks meant more trees which meant new root systems that CHANGED THE COURSE OF THE RIVER!! the removal then eventual reintroduction of wolves had an effect on the actual geography in yellostone. im a british 15 y/o doing geography gcse. that shows how significant of an event this was in the subject that it is used as a case study and i think its used in A-Level as well
I mean, if Piglins are so greedy that they'll ignore you attacking them just to look at a shiny chunk of gold, then I wouldn't be surprised if they invaded the Overworld for an equally minute amount of gold. And this would be supported better by the fact that they forsake stronger armour for fancy gold armour.
I agree with some parts of this but… perhaps dungeon’s takes place in the future? There are zombies in the game that aren’t an apocalyptic level threat, unlike what your other theories said.
It’s insane how much plausible lore MatPat has come up with for Minecraft and how very little Mojang has actually confirmed any of them to be true. I’d like to think that his Minecraft theories are all canon since they all make so much sense.
I think matpat really channeled the vibe of his old videos in this one. Like, usually his voiceover in the recent videos isnt as intense or over-confident sounding as he used to but this one nails the energy of his passion project early vids. This video could have been posted right along side his mario theories and everyone would just think he got a better microphone.
Now I want a mod that includes all the biodiversity of the ancient builders, maybe a map that has a quest to prevent the loss of the biodiversity! That would be super fun to play!
Hey Matt Pat, could you do a video on Signalis??? The lore in that game is so wonky, that I am genuinely interested in *what the hell even just happened (I can piece together some things in a clear way, but some other things were just really confusing).* In fact, I think that type of lore fits just perfectly right in your alley
I appreciate matt & his crew for all the theories and the hard work they put in their videos its amazing to think that they up load a new theory every week
10:42 greed is greed, even if they have enough of it(and even a surplus), greed would always say "more" so even if their current gold supply could make an entire galaxy out of solid gold, greed would still drive them to collect even more it may be that, or maybe not, idk
Kind of makes me wonder if at some point other Ancient Builders escaped into still-other dimensions....and if they'll be returning at some point, no lessons learned, and just as driven as ever to plunder the Overworld, not realizing their ancestors had been there before. Or perhaps they DID know, and they were coming back to slaughter the Withers and reclaim the world. Not sure I want to see that.
Something about the pidlins to look in to, they're surviving in the overworld, not zombifiying. Perhaps it's introduced as a biological weapon against the piglins during or after the game? (or the game is just a 'legend')
The Endermite bit actually made me think of something interesting. Why do Silverfish act so similarly to Endermites, if they're supposed to be extremely rare and encased in Ender Pearls? Just something to think about.
Perhaps there related . I mean we dont ever see insects in any of the other dimension hinting that the insect body plan might be unique to the overworld
I think the builders realize what they have done at some point, as we see the end crystal is designed specifically not only to protect the end dragon, but also built off of resources found in the nether, using ghast tears and blaze powder. Maybe with the last egg left we might get a chance in the future to bring life back to the end.
Yes but the egg I think is infertility Or dragons needed a special place or condition in the end for the egg hatching but I think because of nutrition possible Ender dragon needed to eat a special plant to make the egg possible to hatch
I love that matpat makes his videos in a way that you can listen, not watching the actual visuals, and still go along and understand whats happening. Like hes just descriptive enough to tell you what something looks like, but not so much that it ruins the video for ppl watching it too
And the visuals usually help you to understand the words
But let's not forget that it could still be fun to watch since sometimes the editors leave behind random comments as text or some random animation playing that could actually make you laugh.

It's kind of weird, because there's zombie pigman that live in the nether and piglins that aren't zombies while in the nether.

Yea but he will just keep on making more theories so the mod will never be fully completed.
There IS a larger variant of portal in the base game, but it doesn't look exactly like the one in Legends, so I get your point.
That's a great observation

So so so the um the frickin abandoned portal things I forget what they’re called the ones with gold and chests and stuff
They’re bigger than your average Nether portal, and they’re surrounded by netherack (I forget how to spell it) and magma
I guess it’s possible they just placed the blocks there for decoration, and I really like the implications of what you said (from a lore standpoint, not from a ‘hehe yes I love seeing innocents gets murdered’ one), but I figured it was worth pointing out
I know portals can be made rly big as long as they’re kept as a rectangle, and I wonder if the nether blocks surrounding the old portals are due to the fact that they’ve been around so long, and no matter how long you play the game it’s just not as long as the old portals have likely been around, so you’d probably never see the spreading yourself
Idk just food for thought

This story idea would absolutely tie in to some of the dev’s mindsets, namely them trying their best to make sure that any tweaks they make don’t end up breaking player-built resource farms. The ancients never came up with resource farms. They always took from the natural environments. That left two dimensions as wastelands. Of course the Devs would support the building of creative, infinite resource farms, since the story they’ve crafted shows the ramifications of exploitation instead of cultivation.

No, No. He has a point...
Well can’t you just bone meal yeh ground to get those mushrooms and then grow them??
Exactly. Everyone saying that this "didn't happen in the Overworld" might be confused to how the Nether works when it comes to renewable resources vs the Overworld. Not trying to be rude of course :P
That’s why the piglins attack you, they recognize you as a ancient builder, and by putting on gold armor they think your own their side.
Why would the piglin brutes attack us regadles tho?

@@ryantagarani5825Hm. Very interesting take. I actually like that idea.
I'm surprised that Matpat didn't mention that the piglins didn't immediately become zombified. Suggestion of a possible bioweapon used between games?
that might not be the case, but is proof that the builders entered the nether, as the same zombie virus affecting the builders might have been spread to the nether via the builders entering said nether, and the reason as to why they become immediately zombified when in the overworld proves the zombie virus being in the air in the overworld

That's a great theory

Your theory can be applied on multiple things, first we can say that when our character dies, illagers spawn new ones in hopes of making our character work in favour of them but their plan fails again and again, cuz everytime our character has a will of its own

If we believe that Legends is a prequel… then I must believe that the mobs, upon hearing of what happened (the true story, not the half-baked one) must have rebelled. This rebellion probably killed quite a few of the old Ancient Builders, although I assume not all of them. That’s why mobs are hostile in Minecraft, but not in Legends.
or maybe with just a lack of builders to control their undead army and the creepers, the mobs just went wild...

@@chriskh-studentoflight217 I imagine there's an explanation in Austin's video on the topic, so I'd say check there for an answer
Matpat made his own theory about how much they’ve worth
@@couldntbebotheredwithaname yeah his theories are great and when you combine them with this it all kind of fits.
The collapse of the builder civilization probably happened twice like during the first a lot of builders escaped to the end but couldn't come back while the ones that stayed behind somehow defeated the wither which explains why it isn't around when Steve is,the second probably happened when they were able to modify viruses and accidentally created a zombie apocalypse that killed everyone
I actually think Steve is a genetically and cybernetically enhanced superhuman created to preserve their civilization and probably bring them back and which honestly would explain a lot of his feats
This is just something I thought while writing this and thinking on past ideas, what do you think?
Fun fact: piglins and hoglins in newer updates are scared of nether portals and respawn anchors and will keep their distance for both
Ptsd
"Never again"
The Nether used to have less biomes too. Maybe the warped and crimson forests and soul sand valleys came up after the builders left, as nature's way of fixing itself.
probabaly
That's a fun idea!

My personal theory is that they were forced to fight as cannon fodder
Also another thing that didn't make sense in this theory. We know, alongside with the end and the nether, the overworld is a barren waste land as well. Yea it's not as bad as the end but I think the end will most probably get a update like the nether and that update will introduce more mobs and species.

My only problem was he didn't explain Keystone species very well. Keystone species aren't always the apex predator like wolves
YASSSSSSSS
same i find how removing the apex predator can destroy the ecosystem fascinating.
@@clarehidalgo he never said apex predators are the only keystone species, and he has talked about other keystone species in past videos

Whoever wrote the script is very fond of the phrase “the game proper” considering how much matpat says it
If Greed-Analysis is on Todays Menu, let me recommend Second-Thought as he has various Video-Essays on the Topic. Why not start with the Tale of ' The Game Stop Saga Explained'!?
matpat surely writes his own scripts, he always talk about this if you follow him in the other channels (specially gtlive)
My theory is that the player got amnesia and woke up (spawned) confused and not remembering what happened to the rest of the builders in the overworld.
but he's not the last living, him,Alex and a few of the new default skins in the new updates are the known last Ancient Builders

Just finished watching and started to think about the soul sand valleys. Where they a result of battles that took place in the nether and the souls of the dead seeped down in to the soil. Therefore creating soul sand.
The giant bone structures could be remnants of massive piglin variants that we're used in the battle

Based on a prior theory, it's weird that the piglins doesn't immediately become zombified.
Its most likely prior to the zombie virus being a thing
@@dorukbozdag2716 Zombie Villagers From Legends: Are you sure about that?
Edit: fixed my mistake
Umm mybe its before tge zombie virus and the way we push them back in munecraft legends is that we use the virus but we change so it wont infect our specise and other overworld mobs exept the end because they already destroy it and thats how they push them back and they made sure it wont effect anymore overworld mobs my theory

Just realised that during the Minecraft Legends trailer there were no zombie piglins. This could mean that maybe by the end of the game, the first zombie piglins could've been created. Meaning that zombie piglins originate form this game.
This would prove that Minecraft's "zombie virus" didn't come from the nether.
What's weird is that I suspected that these portals were the result of some conflict, and it's nice to be kind of right.

At this point im convinced that Mojang is just waiting for Matpat to basically write the story for them.
lmao
just to clarify Kingbdogz stated that endermites aren't native to the end their creation is a result of the player traveling through a sort of pocket dimension whilst teleporting and somehow brings them through to the overworld
8:04 the wolves then started to kill of elks ( as they do) and less elks meant more trees which meant new root systems that CHANGED THE COURSE OF THE RIVER!! the removal then eventual reintroduction of wolves had an effect on the actual geography in yellostone. im a british 15 y/o doing geography gcse. that shows how significant of an event this was in the subject that it is used as a case study and i think its used in A-Level as well
Glad you appreciate my eating of the elk
I really love what you're doing with this game but I would like to see an episode on the fossils.
Once again Captain Sparklez either predicted or influenced the future of Minecraft with his Fallen Kingdom Quadrilogy.

You should watch empires smp s2 cause Joel says lore a lot
I agree with some parts of this but… perhaps dungeon’s takes place in the future? There are zombies in the game that aren’t an apocalyptic level threat, unlike what your other theories said.
It’s insane how much plausible lore MatPat has come up with for Minecraft and how very little Mojang has actually confirmed any of them to be true. I’d like to think that his Minecraft theories are all canon since they all make so much sense.
its been 4 hours and this guy's only got 10 likes, i truly have have seen everything
The lore in that game is so wonky, that I am genuinely interested in *what the hell even just happened (I can piece together some things in a clear way, but some other things were just really confusing).* In fact, I think that type of lore fits just perfectly right in your alley
the similarities to the those four 'Fallen Kingdom' Minecraft cinematics back in the 2010s are uncanny
10:30 Well it explains why Endermen hate these things so much,
Matt, this is a great theory. It reminds me of Minecraft: Story Mode, almost. Especially the whole "half-truth" thing.
@bowen voowy oh no they died midway through typing
I love the idea that minecraft legends and dungeons is like a prequel to our minecraft

Perhaps we'll have the ability to revive these long-lost mobs in future updates, similarly to how we'll be able to revive the sniffer.
I hope so
10:42 greed is greed, even if they have enough of it(and even a surplus), greed would always say "more"
so even if their current gold supply could make an entire galaxy out of solid gold, greed would still drive them to collect even more
it may be that, or maybe not, idk
Kind of makes me wonder if at some point other Ancient Builders escaped into still-other dimensions....and if they'll be returning at some point, no lessons learned, and just as driven as ever to plunder the Overworld, not realizing their ancestors had been there before. Or perhaps they DID know, and they were coming back to slaughter the Withers and reclaim the world. Not sure I want to see that.
When the first trailer for mc legends dropped, i said that matpat would have a field day with it. And sure enough, he didnt disappoint

Something about the pidlins to look in to, they're surviving in the overworld, not zombifiying. Perhaps it's introduced as a biological weapon against the piglins during or after the game? (or the game is just a 'legend')
I think matpat actually made a theory that the overworld is host to a plague that zombifies the unimmune.
@@auctoris1536 yeah. That's the point. the piglins are fine in the trailers for legends. Unlike the actual game of MC
The Endermite bit actually made me think of something interesting.
Why do Silverfish act so similarly to Endermites, if they're supposed to be extremely rare and encased in Ender Pearls? Just something to think about.
It is simo=ply peak preformance (and also game design reasons)
Perhaps there related . I mean we dont ever see insects in any of the other dimension hinting that the insect body plan might be unique to the overworld
I think he did a video saying those two were defendants, actually
MatPat is the definition of old but gold.
I think the builders realize what they have done at some point, as we see the end crystal is designed specifically not only to protect the end dragon, but also built off of resources found in the nether, using ghast tears and blaze powder. Maybe with the last egg left we might get a chance in the future to bring life back to the end.
Yes but the egg I think is infertility
Or dragons needed a special place or condition in the end for the egg hatching but I think because of nutrition possible Ender dragon needed to eat a special plant to make the egg possible to hatch
