Let's give some credit to the man who wrote this work in 1942 for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra...maybe America's best composer...Aaron Copland!!!!
You think! Listen to the original. Them, you listen to 20th C. "Progressive" ensembles run both up and down modal scales = Well? HOWEVER, thank you for the 2 & 4 snare! OMG!! You are so amazingly consistent!!!!
No hate but do you continue to check out new music as well because I would hate for you to miss new stuff like Animals as Leaders or Steven Wilson or Muse.
This is like Muhammed Ali on drums, Mike Tyson on keyboards, Larry Holmes on bass, and Joe Frazier on guitar. Your ultimate supergroup!! RIP Keith Emerson.
In the mid 70’s when my best friend and I were competing who was the best keyboard player of us two he was talking about how “great” Rick Wakeman with Yes was. I pulled out my ELP albums and he never went back!!!
@@RMGCBG Wakeman was part of the mix in a guitar band. Emerson was the keyboardist in a keyboard-led band. HUGE difference. Keith composed about 80% of their work and played virtually every moment. No time to have a curry on stage while everyone else worked.
It was the suckiest year ever for rock. We lost so many greats I am too sad to keep count. All we can hope for in the next life: "you know they've got a hell of band." *sigh*
Worked at Armed Forces Radio and used Tarkus as transition music. Saw ELP in Austin, Texas in about 1977..great show, great music. I worked with an older woman who primarily listened to classical music and made her a mixtape of ELP. After listening in her car the first thing she asked was, "Who is the keyboard player?"
I saw The Nice make their debut at the Fillmore East. They were the opening act for 10 Years After, They blew the audience away. Same antics as ELP, knife in little organ and swinging it around. Unbelievable performance.
In my search for back when music videos I came upon this video. ELP - 3 great artists, 3 instruments, and powerful music. Emerson was a wiz on the keyboard. Palmer made percussion speak to you. Stunning work. Absurd that they are not in the Hall of Fame.
Amazing. Thanks Keith, RIP. Simon Phillips adds so much to this and indeed the concert. Not sure 26 years on about the head band! What fabulous musicians.
Simon Phillips was drummer for The Who on their 1989 tour, first and only time I got to see them. It was pretty amazing show. I'm not sure how I missed this thing back in the 1990s I had no idea! As "super groups" go, this bunch really was The Best. RIP Keith and Ox.
I had the pleasure of seeing Emerson, lake and Powell awesome and talented group and unfortunately both entwistle who died of an overdose and Emerson who committed spiced RIP my brothers and long live rock and roll, my best regards to all you fans sincerely, freshness personified!!!
Wow, what an amazing band - so many great heroes on stage. So sad, Keith and John are no longer with us. But what a great version, what a feast of genius
You know what this lineup is? Muhammad Ali on drums, Muhammad Ali on bass, Muhammad Ali on guitar, Muhammad Ali on keys and Muhammad Ali on guitar. THIS --- IS THE MONSTERS OF ROCK…
I remember hearing what I know now to be Keef playing "America"; outside Harlow swimming pool by a guy in a green MG Roadster on a cassette tape back in 1967. That piece of music influenced my entire life; strangely enough. It somehow made me start to think about everything. I was ten years old! Fanks Keef! Respect to you. Pauly.
The BEST. A hidden gem that has to be mined to be appreciated. They played in Hawaii and Japan and were done! Thank goodness they made a video! I'd hate to see such talent fall to the wayside.
Geni del Rock progressive e non solo .Ottimi esecutori e compositori di musica classica con inflessioni jazz, blues. Keith è spettacolare, unico al mondo. Questa musica non morirà mai. Grazie maestri !!!
I was lucky enough to do sound for this group. First day of rehearsal Keith had his huge keyboard rig John had his huge bass rig Simon had a big drum kit and Joe walks in and had me go get his pig nose amp (probably smallest amp ever made) they were amazing!!!
I'ts just to damm of a shame they didn't play alot longer with a lineup of John Enthwistle, Keith Emerson, Simon Philips, Jeff Skunk Baxter and last but not least Joe Walsh. Had they played the states they would have blown people's minds yeah i agree 100% from these pro's and they indeed deliver hands down The Best!
From my 1st exposure to ELP I loved Keith. To this day whenever I hear one of their songs I can't resist moving my fingers to mimic Keith's sounds. And I can't play the piano. I do the same when I hear great bass rifs. I was blown away by Entwistle's licks coz I never knew he could play like this. Awesome! I saw ELP in 1977. What a "Lucky Man" I was. And the anniversary of Keith's death is bittersweet for me coz my wife passed away a week before he did. RIP Keith. RIP John. RIP wifey. Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends...
Saw ELP at the Boston Garden in 1977...just saw Simon Phillips and Protocol V this past Saturday in Hollywood before catching Elton John's last concert at Dodger Stadium the next day...wish I knew this group existed, would have mentioned ELP when I got his autograph!
Emerson and Entwistle on the same stage pure amazing
Imagine Entwistle on Tarkus!!
and Baxter
LIKE A DREAM TO SEE THESE TWO TOGETHER!!!!
Not to forget the driver Simon Phillips!
Why does Joe have to spoil it.

holy shit John Entwistle playing ELP music. Now I've seen everything. Thank you Jeff Baxter for putting this show together.
It's Entwistle... he can play whatever he wants
LMAO This is the first time seeing this and I actually said out loud, "HOLY SHIT. That's John Entwistle playing bass." Great minds or what? ha

Millenials and Gen Z have no idea what they've missed. RIP Keith and Ox.
'Video kills the radio star' , but rock n' roll never dies, at 63 now, I still never heard anybody belittling about any genre of rock music.
I'm so aware of it, such a shame we doesn't have prog bands today for teens like myself.
@@decashgfgdfc listen to Carl Palmer's guitarist and bassist. . . they're exceptional!
Really? This video is literally on youtube.

RIP Keith and John.. two amazingly influential and talented musicians of our times!
RIP Keith Emerson. Many many many thanks for all the great music you delivered during your life.

Agreed.
THE G.O.A.T
The Hendrix of the keyboards. See you in the next life Keith.
The Keith Emerson of keyboards

thomas holland Wakeman helped turn Yes into one of the biggest bands on earth. But Keith Emerson was the biggest musician on earth!

The Hendrix of the keyboards and The Hendrix of the bass
Now we just need Hendrix himself
Geddy Lee would like a word with you. While Entwistle was great, Lee was playing bass, keys and vocals.
May God Bless You Keith Emerson !! and Greg Lake ...
This is Bad Ass !!!
all Star Line Up !
RIP to my idol, Keith Emerson. You were the best. Nobody could touch you and thank you for making the Moog part of rock and roll. I'm crushed.
In your lifetime.............. you lived with these artists. A hundred years before or after and you would have missed a moment in time. EPIC.
KEITH-a big big part of my musical life- he made PROG-ROCK at its best.......
I was listening - not watching - until it got to the bass solo - my God !
Superb - no wonder the Who were the best rock band !
Besides the original, Emerson, Lake and Palmer did this tune and gave it justice!
Outstanding version R.I.P. Keith .
Did everyone forget that bassest John Estwistle is gone forever too? Best bass player that ever was.
Vic Senefsky don't forget Chris Squire...
It was the suckiest year ever for rock. We lost so many greats I am too sad to keep count.
All we can hope for in the next life: "you know they've got a hell of band."

The two of them had no equals. I was on my way to a gig when I heard about John dying. Not a great night.
Yeah I don't get it, I mean George Duke was a much better keyboardist than Emerson but no one has even been able to approach Entwistles level on bass
Discharge Summary Don't forget Sting. He sometimes plays a fretless Bass!!
Man, look at this talent on stage. Awesome. Emerson was a genius.
What an immense bassist John was!
RIP. Master of your trade. Will be remembered for your wonderful music. No one did it better.
2023 and this still rocks.

John Alec Entwistle. Best Rock Bass Guitarist in rock history. Takes this to another level. Greg Lake was good but Entwistle was a GD Force.
