Or the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton. They got CCT1 and made a nice exhibit with it, but it doesn’t draw the visitors like an actual shuttle would. At least they got the Memphis Belle B-17 for all to see.
Saw Atlantis do a piggy-backed fly-over for the folks at the JSC in Las Cruces in June of '09, saw it launch on what was meant to be its final mission in May '10 (assigned to one more) & saw it displayed in Mar '16. Thanks for posting this & letting me relive the experience! It's a beautiful exhibit & a definite must-see!
Atlantis has been my favorite orbiter. 7 year old me was pretty bummed that 132 was supposed to be it’s last flight. A little over a year later, an 8 year old was very happy that his favorite shuttle would fly for the final flight of the program.
@@scotts685well had Challenger not been destroyed Endeavour wouldn’t have been built so Challenger probably would’ve wound up in LA. I like to envision Columbia in the spot Atlantis is and Atlantis at Space center Houston. Such a shame what happened to both vehicles and crews. They were both way more unique than the surviving 3 shuttles. Would’ve loved to have seen Columbia in person
I was 5 when we got to tour the assembly building right before the shuttle program started and the building tours stopped. The place has really changed. Johnson Space Center was so boring compared to Kennedy
What a great place to visit, they have speakers there who actually worked at NASA in the glory days. Now they contract out sending folks in space, very sad.
Is it me or did this person do the whole exhibit backwards? Seems like when he came in front door people were going to the left and he goes to the right as people are coming towards him. Bypass paying to get in?
Do you have to go through that pre show video and all? I always try to skip that in the Saturn V building. When you've seen it once, that's more than enough.
@@DizStuff When you get close to the entrance of the pre-show, just tell an attendent that you have seen the video multiple times and wish to skip it. They let us through to the main exhibit through a side door.
Space shuttle was absolutely majestic
Why is everything blocked off ? Caution tape in front of pictures makes no sense
That was the line to get into the preshow theater. It's a timed event so that can limit how many people can get into the show.
I still can't see the reasoning behind WHY HOUSTON DID NOT GET A SHUTTLE!?!?!?!?

Bring them back to action, again 👍👍👍

17:52 -- I was there on the first day this was open to the public. And I will never be less than amazed by what they have done to showcase Atlatis.
The external tank and SRB reminds me of a giant r2 unit from Star Wars
cool

Just imagine challenger and columbia, the fleet flagship, could be displayed as well
Rip 13 astronauts and one teacher
@Nikolas Weston ????????????

Yes, I would’ve loved to of seen either one displayed in Dayton, Ohio at the National Museum of the United States Air Force and at Johnson.

Ah yes the space shuttle, on of the best but most dangerous rockets that have been sent to space…

A dream
Thanks for the upload, when we were there in 2018 that movie refused to play.
Thank you for sharing. I got the chance to see a rocket launch in 2018. Memorable experience. I shared a pretty fun montage of the trip to my channel.

Nope that's the main door to get in. There is a restroom on the left. The people you saw where coming from there.
I don't think Adam the Woo has been here. He's always at Disneyland .
He was there about 5 years ago.
@@DizStuff Ok. How many feet is it ?
@@wandaborowy9400 I'm sorry I don't understand your question. What are your referring to in measurement the shuttle or the stack?

you don't have to go though the pre show to see the shuttle, but it does have a good reveal
