I listened to it after watching this video. Starting watching again after listening to album. I recommend doing this. Imagine if the Doors or Sabbath made music you actually liked. That’s these guys.
Wow, that's cool. Had not heard of this one. Love that you have a bar, venue and record store all in one place! That's a dream of mine! Also, really awesome that you're the Brown Acid creator! That's rad!
Hello Lance. I'm a longtime collector of this type of music and in this case I've had the cd version for quite a while. I'm familiar with how great this album is. What I like about you and your presentation of this lp is the knowledge you present and the enthusiasm you put behind it, and rightfully so. But more importantly is the revelance you show to Patrick Lundborg. He started the ball rolling on this topic, along with his associates, and has shown us what a truly great goldmine of past releases there are out there to be had. Also, thanks to you for continuing in this stream of bringing obscurities to our attention and enjoyment. Carry on dude. You rock.
Thank you, kindly! I was lucky enough to have had a few interactions with Patrick before he passed away. May he rest in peace. He and his fellow Acid Archives contributors gave me a great appreciation and enthusiasm for the wonderful world of private pressings and obscure Psych records. I will forever be in their debt. It will be my honor and privilege to carry the torch into the future. Cheers!
Love these videos! Keep ’em coming! I bought the limited super deluxe box set of Fraction Moon Blood on splattered vinyl, all bells and whistles included. And just two weeks after I ended up finding an original copy. Stoked to say the least! Huge favorite in the collection.
Glad yr enjoying the vibe. We do 'em like this when we can find the time. Life is short...tick, tock, tick, tock. Stoked to get another one together again soon!
Hey Lance, visited the roadhouse for the first time today, bummed you weren’t there! Bought one of your 13th Floor Elevator OGs I saved your shop for last at the end of my record store route for my birthday and wish I had made it the first stop. Way too many records I wanted, I will definitely be back. Great live music tonight
Thank you for stopping by and picking up one of those OG 13th Floor Elevators LPs! I’m sorry I wasn’t there. Too busy making more videos at home last night. I’m usually in the shop during the day on the weekends and sometimes other days as well. Please make us your first stop next time and let us know when you’re coming and I’ll be sure to meet you down there if I can.
It’s awesome you can have the music play on the video without worrying about the copyright stuff. Haha I couldn’t believe seeing you doing the iPod announcement type video but it works man! Right on
Amazing work Lance. Are you setup in a soundstage?! Awesome. The music of Fraction has always been incredible to me and just how raw and heavy it is however I could never get into the vocals. Yet the power and beauty of that sleeve is second to none. keep em comin!
Nice Video Lance!! Had A Re-Issue In My Hands Recently For 100 Bucks... just Couldn't Do It.... Going To That Same Record Fair Soon... If Still There, May Pull aThe Trigger!!!!

The only time I've seen an OG was at the Utrecht fair in 2007 or possibly 2008. It was obviously on the wall and was at least €1000 but perhaps a bit more... memory fails me. I had a cd burn of the LP at that stage but I certainly wasn't able or willing to drop 4 figures back then.....I'll pay that for it now though! Nothing wrong with a Jim Morrison soundalike. Ever since someone on Waxidermy described Morrison as sounding like a drunken lounge singer I haven't been able to take his voice seriously anyway 😁. Great videos Lance...love the music you're sharing. Cheers Nige
Thanks, Nige! This was a $1000-2000 record for a long time. Demand has increased exponentially! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the (Lounge) Lizard King. Viva Waxidermy!
It always blows my mind when I think about how many incredible bands there are that most people will never hear. It's still happening to this day. It takes much more than skill to make it in the music business. You have to be willing to play the game and you have to be in the right place at the right time. There's a lot of luck involved. As the song goes: "Some guys have all the luck Some guys have all the pain Some guys get all the breaks Some guys do nothing but complain"
Thanks for noticing! Always trying to do better, whenever I can carve out the time for it and get my pals at a professional studio on board. Mad props to @vinylpiper and his team!
How many pressings of the clear vinyl did you do? I’m in the uk and would love a copy. Great band! I’m lucky enough to own a couple of very rare uk psyche releases. One is the Aardvark - s/t and the other is Bulldog Breed - Made in England, on the Deram Nova label. Sometimes the yt algorithm is very kind 🙂
Thank the UA-cam algo for bringing you to our channel and thank you for watching. There are only 500 copies on clear wax Worldwide. You can get yours at PermanentRecordsLA.com 24/7. Sounds like you have great taste, mate. Cheers!
Color me ignorant, uninformed, of poor opinion and musical taste, but: I’ve heard a lot a lot a lot of these super rare records and, I gotta say, I was underwhelmed by a good many, especially considering the exorbitant “value” of so many of them. Except Moon Blood. I didn’t know what makes it so special, but there’s a whole vibe to it that I love, and it’s very cohesive. I’m so grateful it was reissued.
You're absolutely right. Many of the bands that self-released their music, simply weren't worthy of a major label production. Some, like Fraction and Stonewall just to name a couple, could have gone on to great things if the circumstances would have been different. Just imagine what Classic Rock Radio might sound like in the Bizarro World!
The Moon is on the inner sleeve so depending on how you slide it in it could be on the left or the right. Some earlier bootlegs had it on the opposite side as the original
It's sorta funny that the Acid Archives is quoted so heavy when connected to this release, yet it's a christian album and no reference to the christian book about early Jesus music, The Archivist. It has the better write up about Moon Blood. Also you mention the album has an 'old testament' vibe to it which I sort of understand, but the lyrics are based on the new testament. 'Come Out of Her' is from Revelation and 'Eye of the Hurricane' is taken from Matthew 24, not to mention Sanc Divided.
You’re right! The Arkivist write-up is much better. Forgive me for not being more familiar with the Bible. It doesn’t interest me as much as Psychedelic Rock does and this album has a dark and very Old Testament vibe to me.
I appreciate you sharing your opinion. Obviously, I disagree and encourage you to listen to this album again in a different state of mind. I have a feeling you’ll eventually come around. I wasn’t immediately sold the first time I heard it either.
Is MoonBlood so bad it is good?, no, to my ears. It does have some spinaltappy comedic elements, but not enough to make it a worthwhile purhase, if you ask me. I'd not suggest anyone listens to it on Acid, might invoke some depression, paranoia, despair.............. Why was it called MoonBlood, something about Mother Earth being bled to death by homosapiens? Old Testament conceptions of the Lunar are not something I have much, or any, knowledge of. ps It's better than Black Sabbath Lp's then again what isn't? Doors were much more talented, useful, 'musical'. But the singer does seem to be mimicking Morrison's growlings.
A fair assessment, even if I disagree. Beauty is in the eye of the beerholder, my friend. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. The discourse is valuable even if we disagree. I love Black Sabbath and I think the Doors are overrated, but that doesn't mean we can't be friends!
@@PermanentRecordsLA I don't think I can be friends with a Sabbath fan. I was a 'victim' of their lambasting late 70's era when seen as something of a joke-cock rock band. The cool kids were taking LSD and listening to Monte Young, Reich, Eno and co, the Engineering students who lived like ''mummy's boys'' headbanging to Sabbath and similar. Status not helped by Ozzy's trailer trash life style and lobotomised approach to language captured in the Osbourne TV series.

Moon Blood is incredibly overhyped- dude sounds like an overly dramatic Jim Morrison wanna be. Music is pretty good but that singer is too much for me.
