On a more serious note. I'd love to build a system (a pc that is) to emulate 1st to 7th console generations with usb adaptors to use original controllers
If you remove the 7th gen you can do this on a phone and just use wireless controllers. But current phones might be able to handle 7th gen too
a modded ps classic can emulate up to dreamcast and psp/ds well

There is no way a console is going to emulate PS3 at this point. You need a high end PC. Just fucking deal with it.
I don't even see how it's possible for these games to not work. I've been building emulation stations for almost two decades now...
Never underestimate Chinese bootleggers. There are bad roms out there. It's very easy to avoid the bad ones as they are marked "[b]", but my guess is that these bootleggers are super lazy and apathetic. They probably just dump batches of roms on there without really looking through them. We already know from the video that this one in particular was either very poorly tested or (most likely) not tested at all, and it's far from the only one. If I had one of these, I'd just replace all of the roms on it with my own to ensure that they are good.
It takes talent to have emulators and ROMS this bad.

@@mentalphilanthropist35 I wouldn't waste my time investing in a business model that's both controversial and requires the software of many different companies, all of which I have no control over.
Plus, buyers that don't want to go about the very VERY easy task of DIY, are going to buy cheap options like this. Hardware I would never recommend, nor could compete with.
Just make your own with a raspberry pi.

My favourite NES/Famiclone's were the old Pegasus and SPICA consoles, I loved them that much even over the legit NES....Had to sell for the $$$ after 36 years.

Great video! That last bit with Castlevania 64 made me want to see a remake or some continuation of the series in a souls-like gameplay. I love the metroidvania style, but I also think the souls-like style would work incredibly with Castlevania.

Almost spit my drink out when he said they are over $100. They are literally on sale for under $30 on ali express right now. And if the game won't run you can try switching to a different emulator. Something I had to do for some of the arcade roms.
what is the point of a cooling fan for the processor when its not even on the spot were the vent holes are. guess its a magic fan that can move air though solid plastic.
I bought that device almost a year ago and it died pretty quickly. It's a piece of junk. It has no active cooling fan or open slots for ventilation. I think it cooked itself to death. I don't know. Some games were only demos and some in foreign languages. They don't bother to make sure it's the full game. Spyro 2 was a demo. That was a waste of $100. 😒
I bought one too, it advertised having a fan. Once I saw that I lost hope.
@@mentalphilanthropist35 Mine was an older one with around 62,000 games on it. Rich reviewed a newer one with 100,000 games. That newer one might now have a fan inside it. Mine didn't though. There weren't even any ventilation slots. It was just a hot box and died in a handful of months.

As much as people might have hated on Castlevania 64, I used to love playing it as kid. Replayed it maybe a year ago and still loved it. Not a perfect game but far from terrible.

Unfortunately the emulator defaults mostly to the cores that don’t work well, but if you go into the options & change to a different core most games work and work ok. It just needs tweaking. However you shouldn’t need to do this really.
I hate to say this but i wish these things would have less 80s/90s games and get into the 2000s/2010s 😅
Well they struggle with lates 90s stuff as shown in the video, so it will probably only happen when entry level chips inside such "consoles" become much more powerful.

If you like Final Fight, check out the OpenBor Street Fighter 89'. They added alot to the levels and kept the Sega CD music.
I bought one of those black and green dongle ones and the way they organize those games are crazy. Who comes up with those? You can find the games and it is mostly retro with a portion of SNK games. For some reason the controllers barely worked when I bought it and now they work fine. It does save me a good sum of cash though.

God, I hate those NES "Fraud" Editions... I even lost my interest on attending anymore Columbia Fireflies games when I found out that they were giving them out as raffle prizes on their Retro Video Game Night... When I saw those knock-offs in my sight, I was disappointed at them for handing out e-waste as prizes.
The reason these consoles exist is because the most convenient way to play games that aren't current gen is through piracy. As Gabe Newel once said, "Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem".

I have one like that has 30000 games on it works well for me. Has damn near every Super Nes, Nes, TB Grafx 16, Sega Genesis, and arcade games. I love it. Also, have one that looks like a Genesis works well for my tastes.
The big man has certainly collected some sympathies in my book with Castlevania 64. I also played this game up and down many times, though the successor "Legacy of Darkness" makes it obsolete, because it includes the first game with slightely better graphics and gameplay.
I even remember playing this game without an analogue stick with a cheap controller as emulation on the computer, worked out pretty well. Today I run all these N64 games on a hacked Switch and it runs nicely.
The Castlevania 64 games are really well made for their time and are this very elegant kind of game. The only thing that sucks to oblivion are the horrendous animations, it looks like they created 3 keyframes per move. But that's the only bad thing. I like those games certainly more than what Castlevania in 3D is known for today

I got this a while ago. It’s pretty good. I have my arcade stick hooked up for the arcade games
halfway into the video, 1/5 games booted. The Sega CD game booted, but couldn't handle base Sega MD/G?
Yet somehow it had the ability to boot Soul Calibur on Sega Dreamcast? This thing's performance is all over the place. I can only assume bad MD/G emulator or bad ROMs that are corrupted.
I'm expecting 600 push ups without breaking a sweat, make it so.
I have the previous model of the kin hank. it’s too many glitches on the damn thing but it’s a good reference if you want to get a retro game. For example some of the 64 games don’t work resident evil on the PlayStation is in Spanish etc.😂

I have one of these..but semi different model with a better UI that just has 50,000 games. But I actually dig it for snes & sega roms. If you just want some early 90s goodness but don't want to spend big bux getting older tech then these are a decent & cheap alternative. I'd rather spend my money on newer games.
I can't get over how this thing crashes trying to play Sega Genesis games but yet will have no problems starting up Sega dream cast games and N64 games that are a generation ahead. When rick said this thing was 120 bucks my eyes popped out of there head. This is another trash console 😒 It's worth at best 30-50 bucks. And it's questionable Chinese knockoff companies should be selling these consoles anyway.

These consoles aren’t really that bad. I have a super console x2pro and a super console x and both of them do exactly what I want them to do. Play retro games. And for being only around 40 or 50 bucks it’s a steal for the amount of games you get. Trust me these aren’t bad at all. Also the controllers work really good. Sure they’re from China but so is every other controller you get from major consoles.
Now I want to pop in an everdrive and play Castlevania 64.

You are judging it off of consoles that are hard to emulate like N64 and Dreamcast.
A big negative of these devices is that if you see a bunch of PS1 games on it, 100% for sure they don't have the game music as they remove it in order to not take up so much room.
