Also, these interviews are great and maybe you can do a set up where other nomads can sign up with you for an interview time slot. I’m sure many would love to share their story.
I’ve been living in Bali for close to a year now. I don’t actually work though, my parents are well off and send me money every month. We have a joint account so they just deposit the money and I withdraw it at an atm
Strange question . What's the problem? Any mastercard and visa (except Russian banks) and bank`s apps work without problems anywhere, including in Bali. Withdrawal and exchanges of freelancing and other platforms, I think directly, or through PayPal and similar services to a bank card. For example the real problem - the West helps Putin to keep people in Russia - imposes sanctions against ordinary people, against those people who left the war for other countries, and the West turned off VISA, MasterCard, Paypal and all money transfer services that it could turn off. And now ordinary people who are against the regime cannot work for Western companies and survive abroad. Here's the problem. And your question is not a problem at all!
My big respect for filippina-girl. She realized that she had an advantage (excellent English) but lived in a very poor country. She went to Dubai to realize herself, and everything worked out for her.
@@btgoros I've been there and I'll go again. This is a country with magnificent nature and very kind and well-mannered people. But this is A VERY poor country. Especially some islands, such as Palawan - this is the most beautiful, but probably one of the poorest island.. Residential buildings - are makeshift bamboo huts without electricity, shops without refrigerators, all buildings without any glass windows. Very bad with quality food and a very low standard of living. But, nevertheless, there the most cheerful and open people I have seen in my life live there, and the best nature, I will definitely return there again.
Thanks for those interesting interviews! I think you forgot one important question: How do they see their future? Many interviewees make around 2-3 kUSD / month. You can have a pretty good life in Asia for this. But what are the perspectives? Are they dreaming to become rich? Thinking beyond today: What about health care? Are they ensured? Could they support a family? Or do they see this nomad life only as a temporary phase in their lives? Certainly I am envious and can imagine leading this life for a limited time. But it is also good to have a place called 'home' and rewarding to have a family and see kids growing up. What would be the balance looking back when you are old and have focused on being independent and to make money? Not implying anything. I am not sure.
Thank you for the idea! I will make one with those questions sometime in the future. In my opinion/case most of these people are trying to grow their businesses so they can obviously have all of that. About health insurance -- nowadays there are many good options for digital nomads and everyone I know has it -- having this lifestyle doesn't mean that they don't think either save for their future but most of them are starting something and as most of them are young It's the time to do it. @@travelwithrafa Good to hear that the digital nomads in your circle do have health insurance! It depends on what country are you from Because living on Bali is cheap and you can live there for 5-7 years and collect enough money to buy some property in your mother country
This is one of the main reasons people are staying in their comfort zone. They all want a steady paycheck on 1st, insurance, and health care. I was on both sides. What I can tell you is that now I am working in a company remotely but I am from home and I can't wait to feel alive again and go work from another place and meet new people. Hi @travelwithrafa It's really insightful information! I'm intrigued to find out which specific location in Bali this is, where you encounter such fascinating people?
I wonder what people do with their house/apartment back home. When I work abroad I'm basically paying rent twice, which makes it less financially attractive.
Hey! Most digital nomads don't have an apartment back home and their expenses are all into the place they are at -- so no, you would not pay for 2 apartments -- most people carry around their belongings and obviously you start having less things or you leave things at family's house or rent a storage somewhere if you have too many things
That's the best way to do it for sure, but there are also many short term nomads like the girl you spoke to that does SEO for a company (2-6 months abroad). Many people like me, have an employer that requires them to spend at least some time back home. I can work max. 6 months per year abroad. Finding affordable housing in many countries is not easy and I can't go househunting everytime I need to come back. Definitely one of the biggest challanges for me to be a digital nomad and I imagine for many other people as well that want to start working from abroad. I will sublet my apartment for my next trip so I don't pay rent twice, but I never hear people speak about this challange. Everybody has their own way to be a digital nomad and would like to hear what others do. Great video's and thanks for the inspiration :D @@travelwithrafa
I would be interested to know, where and how do these people pay their taxes? or do they just not pay any cause they don't live anywhere? like if you're an employee at a full-remote company, in which country do you pay taxes if you're always on the go?
It depends on each person's individual situation, how long they stay in which country, what kind of service they offer, and if there's double taxation treaties between the country they pay taxes in and the country they are visiting. Most of the time digital nomads don't stay in one place long enough to have to pay taxes in the country they are visiting, hence "nomad" in the title.
Good content! If i may ask, are using the insta 360 x3 with your videos? Are just using its built in microphone? Because i plan to do the same. Thank you!
I´m planning to travel as of next year, and start working remotely from anywhere possible as a freelancer, quitting my corporate job. I already do work remotely but from home, without leaving my country, but since I have always been working a 9-5 for someone else, I´m kind of concerned. Especially when it comes to taxes - nobody really talks about that. Does anyone have any advise? I reside in Spain at the moment, and taxes are too high here for self-employed... I will also return here when I finish traveling.
Taxation is complex and depends on the countries and how you structure your finance vs your business. In Spain I guess is similar to Italy (where I am from) so if you are fiscal resident there, you pay taxes for your worldwide income. Fiscal residency is where you reside at least 183 days per year and/or where is the center of your life / business. So if you register your business in Spain, your clients are in Spain and your bank account is in Spain, even if you live outside all year you may still be considered fiscal resident there and tax agency will come ask you for money. Problem is that if you work from another country, tecnically speaking you should declare that income in that country too, and then, if there is some agreement between Spain and that country, you are not taxed twice, but still everything is more complex. As well, to work from that country you need a Visa that allows that, and not a Tourist visa / VoA. These people (foreigners) most probably just take a Tourist visa / VoA and don't declare anything in Indonesia, because is kind of a grey area and unless they stay there for too long (aka many months and more), nobody checks on them.
@@zarkarkas these foreigners can get a visa for 2 months in Bali, then they have to exit the country for at least 24 hours and may return for another 2 months, they have to continue to do this for the entire time they stay in the country. Other visas, for example, a business visa costs over £1000
Hey! Good luck with your traveling! Most people that are digital nomads pay taxes where their company is registered. Many digital nomads find places to open their business with lower taxes like Dubai, hong Kong and they find a way to open it there. I don't have many details because I also pay for my own country but I can ask some people about it or make a video on this subject :)
I pay taxes in my home country because register my business there. I visa agent in Bali told me, I can work from Indonesia online with a VOA as long my company is not from Indonesia. But only online. I can't meet people in Indonesia in real life for my business.
I wasnt impressed by anyone and dont think any of them are actually digital nomads but just your average traveler, bs ing others as they go place to place. The digital money they want to roll out, that will be openly embraced by the young . Will kill this lifestyle real fast, and freedom to travel.
Digital nomads seem to be young 20-30 yr olds with incomes fluctuating. A large portion of their income wld go towards travelling. Iinteresting to see how long they can sustain this lifestyle as they do not appear to hv savings for retirement or possible medical expenses.😢
Freelancer incomes are always fluctuating. It’s just different then being a full time employee for a company. Has advantages and disadvantages. The more experienced they get, the more they will earn.
Sometimes you just gotta travel while you’re young, some people don’t subscribe to slaving away in your youth to save up for the unforeseen future. You could be extremely ill or die in accident and end up wondering why you didn’t just go on that trip you always wanted to. Let people define their own happiness.
Having lived in Bali for 15 years and only speaking Indonesian at home with my family.I cannot see what exposure they get to the average local way of life.Having lived in Canggu before most of these kids left school , l happily live in Nth Bali now, Singaraja, not as some say..Nth Bali..you mean Ubud😂😂.. thats not even the center.Anyway, up here, l can go a week and not see a tourist...
The first dude is dreaming, his diary isn't a monetization strategy. Life coach bros will be gone as soon as the money runs out. The dating coach with the chest tattoo is the only businessman in the bunch, and the only one qualified to be chilling at the pool during business hours. The German girl will get by fine until she gets ready to settle down. The Haitian dude is legit. The Irish kid sounds like he's day trading which means he is a gambler which works great...until it doesn't.
Yup that’s me. Just being honest. I’ve been living in Southeast Asia for close to a year now and my parents send me money every month. They’re quite well off though and don’t mind. Life is good 😅
Tell you friend what she’s doing is illegal in Bali working in bali also all those supposedly digital nomads living that so called life making no money is also illegal. I’ve been living in Bali for 7 years and the govt has been ignoring this until this year These people are not paying any of the fees or taxes Bali is due and before they go online bragging about a phony life they should think twice
This is true. There are not many older digital nomads, and there aren't many who have done it for a long time. It's like van lifers... it sounds lovely, until you do it for a while - then it's not so lovely.
This video is great for the new tourism task force who are now busting foreigners who are working illegally in Bali because they are doing it under a visa that isn't allowed. It's like cookies leading to the crime scene. Genius.
None of these strike me as being genuine business people. None of them seem to have any idea about what it really means to bring value to the table for a business client. They're all obviously dreamers, wet behind the ears newbies who haven't really got a clue about what being in business is all about. I bet most of them are either living off of their parents still, or are in Bali on an extended vacation in this hostel pretending they're successful digital nomads when the completely opposite is true.
The middle of the day and not a single one of them working while all talking about their "hustle". What they've done is found a bubble whereby they can get paid "for now" and not actually work much. This won't last forever and in the end their skills are not developing while they sit around the pool and have drinks.
Facts, most of them weren’t doing any thing. All I heard from many of them was ‘I’ve only been doing this for a little while’, or ‘it’s only part time’, ‘I just started a UA-cam channel’, nothing impressive.

Urghh, left us hanging 😂😂
This place looks beautiful. Where in Bali is this?
The first dude is dreaming, his diary isn't a monetization strategy. Life coach bros will be gone as soon as the money runs out. The dating coach with the chest tattoo is the only businessman in the bunch, and the only one qualified to be chilling at the pool during business hours. The German girl will get by fine until she gets ready to settle down. The Haitian dude is legit. The Irish kid sounds like he's day trading which means he is a gambler which works great...until it doesn't.
With this channel i can learning more my english❤
I love that 🥰
Real answer is Mummy daddy money
Yup that’s me. Just being honest. I’ve been living in Southeast Asia for close to a year now and my parents send me money every month. They’re quite well off though and don’t mind. Life is good 😅
@@rebelsociety when will you grow up
@@Killajmj hmm maybe after I’ve finished travelling the world. So maybe another year or 2.
@@rebelsociety what's your age?
They are all working. But I guess you don’t care and prefer to be salty.
Wound be curious where these folks pay taxes.
Tell you friend what she’s doing is illegal in Bali working in bali also all those supposedly digital nomads living that so called life making no money is also illegal. I’ve been living in Bali for 7 years and the govt has been ignoring this until this year
These people are not paying any of the fees or taxes Bali is due and before they go online bragging about a phony life they should think twice
Parabéns pelo seu conteúdo, Rafaela. Você é brasileira?

16:88 video cut a bit short mate
How do they do it with taxes, health insurance, pension?
Digital Nomads only for young(starting from millennials) without family.I don't see old senior people(boomer) working.I think it's just temporary.
This is true. There are not many older digital nomads, and there aren't many who have done it for a long time. It's like van lifers... it sounds lovely, until you do it for a while - then it's not so lovely.
Any suggestions for new and freshers who want start as a freelancer.
Interesting
Thanks a lot 😊🙌🏼
Where is that place?
Ask them if they pay their taxes in Indonesia since they are based in Bali!
a yo hpow all these nomads doing 2 to 2.5k per month is it like a standard response for "i'm living off my savings"

This video is great for the new tourism task force who are now busting foreigners who are working illegally in Bali because they are doing it under a visa that isn't allowed. It's like cookies leading to the crime scene. Genius.
I question I have? How you get permission to visit these digital Nomad Co-Working places? Are they easily allow you to go in?
Yes
I am unable to find a remote work😢
You missed the opportunity to ask Kyla how much she earns a month
None of these strike me as being genuine business people. None of them seem to have any idea about what it really means to bring value to the table for a business client. They're all obviously dreamers, wet behind the ears newbies who haven't really got a clue about what being in business is all about. I bet most of them are either living off of their parents still, or are in Bali on an extended vacation in this hostel pretending they're successful digital nomads when the completely opposite is true.
Hi
this is no good if you have expenses in your home country buut most people are not making enough
Could you give me the exactly place address? It seem so good place
8:45 It's not webtree but Web3 🤣
How much the Java lady making per month?

The girl from the philippines chose to be in bali coz she likes beaches.. maybe she forgot the philippines is made of 7,107 islands😂😂😂😂😂
The middle of the day and not a single one of them working while all talking about their "hustle". What they've done is found a bubble whereby they can get paid "for now" and not actually work much. This won't last forever and in the end their skills are not developing while they sit around the pool and have drinks.
You have no idea what you are talking about 😀
@@attilab317So they were working and I am blind? Or everyone of them coincidentally are taking a break at the exact same time?
Facts, most of them weren’t doing any thing. All I heard from many of them was ‘I’ve only been doing this for a little while’, or ‘it’s only part time’, ‘I just started a UA-cam channel’, nothing impressive.
