Very helpful! I was a bit disappointed that the shawl I bought was asymmetrical and was wondering if they ran out of yarn, but I see now that there is a purpose to it! nice!

I often use a small plastic hair clippie for a shawl fastener. I have them in a variety of colors so they blend in well & are not obvious. Have even worn them with shawls to church. I like that I can leave one attached to the edge of a shawl and just put on & take off the shawl over my head. Pins are classy & pretty (sometimes a bit pricey) and I own a few but my standard go-to shawl fastener is the inexpensive but dependable hair clippie.
You may be a bit young, but years ago the Barrett was a very common accessory. In addition to beautiful barrettes, that woven leather piece that you showed with the stick that goes through it, was the quintessential ponytail adornment. (Or just to pull som front hair back to gather on the top). Fun to find uses for things.
Those would be a AWESOME gift for Senior Citizens center donation too. I do a lot if charity crocheting.
