I listen to this in the car and couldn’t wait to pull you guys up and comment! I was laughing and felt like I was in the room having a conversation with you guys! Your “debate” that you brought up as being on your mind has been on my mind too! I can’t believe that you could stay so civil! He was all over the place… And when he kept saying that you weren’t giving people enough credit for being intelligence and then five seconds later he would say people don’t understand that Simon! I was dying
Please keep podcasting. I love every second even when it’s painful!

A decade ago, the meme was how can you tell if someone is vegan and the answer was just listen to them for 10 seconds. I think that carnivores in the comment section of plant predominant pages and channels now own that one.

Another really good episode Simon - and I really like the way you two relate to each other, you're obviously really good friends. I was particularly interested in the study on protein - and the impact of plant vs animal protein on cardiovascular disease. I would be interested to know if there are any reasons why that kind of diet does not have any impact on the prevalence of stroke and whether there are any recent studies that show diets that include a reduction on both heart disease and stroke. Maybe it's just reducing sodium? Many thanks

I feel the exact same way about my beloved dog. Absolutely dreading the day - I love her so, so much and I’ve been through it before. But I can’t do a thing about it, so I try not to think about it. She’s worth the pain.

Love you chatting and making (dad) jokes. Hope this continues. I have some thoughts bout Drew’s smartphone study. I haven’t had a deeper look but on the first glance, I’m not that happy with the method. I think the control group wasn’t chosen wisely to control for smartphone use. The smartphone group was active what might have caused mental fatigue. But the control group was passive. So the control group should have done something active as well like doing sudoku or even given a task when watching the documentary. Only then could be understand the implications of smartphone use per se.

    Hello ,
In regards to Plant vs Animal protein discussion, the Dr was most likely trying to muddy the waters with the listeners. Wouldn’t be surprised if he is funded by the Meat & Dairy industry.
There is a saying in the Vegan community that people want to hear good news on their bad habits .
Truth telling is highly valued in the indigenous community. If we don’t have this , what future does humanity have ?
Thankyou Simon for your truth telling through evidence , Logic & science .
    Take care 🤗🌱🐨🦘

@1:00:00 you talk about LMHR's saying they're insulin sensitive. WOuld not the inability to lose weight on a diet that includes carbs indicate insulin RESISTANCE (severe insulin resistance) and not insulin sensitivity as keto dieters contend they are? Also, in the case of Feldman, wasn't he pre diabetic? Now hes somehow insulin sensitive? People just declare themselves whatever they want now it seems.

I have been eating an animal-based diet for years and I also think that the "debate" was unwatchable (not your fault), I tried several times, but I could not finish watching it. You wanted to discuss published studies, your opponent wanted to share his clinical and personal experience. Both are valid topics but not against each other - and your ideas what the conversation will be about were obviously different. It should be organized better by the host and the style or rules set before the debate.

What's apparent is that the western diet (high fat & high carbohydrate) is the problem. You have to pick one. Rice diet or potato diet - very good results, but add fat to those and they're a problem. I went the other route; carnivore for seven years. Very good results. Adding in carbs invites problems.

  • @Sharrocker

The discussion had with Dr Kiltz was one that really had to be handled delicately. It’s just my opinion but it seemed Dr Kiltz was trying to paint his self portrait as being someone who is agreeable, full of love and fighting the good fight for the people…. He then seemed to go out of his way to bait a reaction from Simon by throwing his hands up and saying “well actually I don’t know this is just my story” like he was pretending to be a fool but hoping you’d aggressively accuse him of falsehood because he could again assert his position of being full of love and acceptance while Simon was an aggressor trying to “regulate” people. I think Simon did really well to point out none of his reasoning made sense but also it’s hard to have a discussion with someone who is wilfully blind to the evidence of what happens in reality, but could take the position of victim if his personal experiences were “attacked” had Simon called him out on his nonsense. I got a good laugh out of the episode…. Just another proponent of carnivore/keto that doesn’t make sense or base their argument on reality

What do you think about Kaeberlin’s view on animal vs plant protein? He made a whole video about it recently, and he name dropped you too. He seems to think it’s highly unlikely that the source of protein would have any significant impact on longevity. I honestly don’t understand how really level headed and smart guys like him can say that in the face is so much overwhelming evidence. Though diet wise he definitely has some weird takes, he thinks bananas are unhealthy because they “spike blood sugar” lmao, so definitely one of those low carb guys

  • @carinaekstrom1
    @carinaekstrom1 17 днів тому +1

It seems illogical that the brain would not create as much creatine as it needs in normal life. With most things there's a limit to where things become unhealthy. So if you make yourself go up above normal you will have to also come down abnormally.

Whilst Simon continues to class red and processed meat as one category the debate will never be fair. Red meat and processed meat are two completely different foods and their consumption leads to vastly different outcomes.

@annettestephens5337 He's talking about studies where red meat and processed meat are swoped for nuts and seeds. That's not saying red meat and processed meat are equally bad for you. Also, "you" believing red meat is good for us is fine, but not scientific.

I've been both vegan and carnivore. Vegan for 5 years and carnivore for 2. When I first started vegan I felt great but at the 5 year mark I felt like crap I lost a tone of waight that I didn't want to loose constantly tired super pale and generally felt like crap. 6 months on carnivore and I've put the waight I lost I'm brimming with energy I have no bloating like the vegan diet. My skin got pink again and 2 years later I still feel amazing. If you really want a good debate get Anthony Chaffee MD. He'll actually debate with evidence and studies.
