The SS and other fanatics had nothing left to lose at this point. They either fought and took as many with them as possible, or be executed or sent to gulag. The regular army was just buying time for their fellow countrymen to escape to the west, to avoid soviet vengeance. That was pretty much the only motivating factors at this stage of the war. Hence why there was so little fighting going on in the west by then.

That is a crazy amount of material given to another country, and though it was technically a lend, it was practically a grant. It was never paid back in full and the costs were written off later.

what these maps dont show is that german divisions are bigger than soviet ones, so the 600K german army is actually bigger than the 2+ million soviet army

      600k soldiers are 600k soldiers

That is the German 9th army which was ordered by Hitler to relieve Berlin. Their commander ignored this order in an attempt to push west so that his troops could have the chance to surrender to the Americans.
Although his order caused many soldiers to be killed. It probably ultimately saved more soldiers than it lost. As surrendering to the soviets usually meant over a decade of tortuous conditions in Siberia where a majority of German POWs died.
